Joining the conversation surrounding racial disparities in the criminal justice system, Meek has been shedding light on how Black youth are targeted and kept behind bars for extended periods of time. And besides getting politically active , the Wins & Losses lyricist is also killing on the music front, having just dropped his highly anticipated fourth studio album. Possibly his most memorable project to date, Championships boasted incredible features from mentor Jay-Z , rap newcomer Cardi B , Fabolous , and even former rap nemesis Drake . Meek tugged at heartstrings on “Trauma,” Hov made his relationship with Kanye West clear on “What’s Free,” Drizzy and Meek reunited in a moment of brotherly love on “Going Bad” …and that was only the beginning. Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty After releasing the project to rave reviews, Meek hit up Elliott Wilson ‘s CRWN series this week and dished on everything from how Jay-Z’s verse came about to being motivated by Drake’s “Back to Back” diss record and having dinner with Bey and Hov. He also gave advice to the upcoming generation of rappers and discussed using his platform to speak on important issues, plus Kevin Hart coming to visit him in prison. On Getting A Hov Feature For Championships “I represent the path that Hov created—a young hustler from Marcy projects that became a billionaire. That’s the sh*t I grew up on and the type of music I grew up on and the things I wanted to be. I spent a piece of my life sipping lean, for a short period of time, popping percs…but that was never my lifestyle…I grew up on being a hustler and flipping money and doubling money and trying to move your family out the hood and being a boss. So, I always wanted that Jay-Z feature. He came through this time. Shoutout to Hov!” On His Favorite Bar In Hov’s Verse “My favorite part is ‘I ain’t got a billion streams, I got a billion dollars.’” On Squashing The Beef With Drake And Coming Together For The Album “A lot of people don’t know me and Drake been contacting each other for a year, but it’s like I’m not with the fake shit. If we fight or you got beef with somebody in the street, you don’t wanna…have a problem with them, and then the next day y’all got y’all arm around each other. Allers, an associate physics professor at Bucknell, claims she was “felt up” by Tyson after taking a photo with him at a 2009 party. DeGrasse responded in an online post that was titled “On Being Accused” by saying says he welcomes and will fully cooperate with an impartial, independent investigation into the claims against him. Tyson also says he didn’t grope Allers, but “simply searched under the covered part of the shoulder of her sleeveless dress to check out her tattoo.” He says he found out she thought it was creepy 9 years later, and is “deeply sorry to have made her feel that way.” He ended by saying the two had a “genuine friendship” and he’s innocent of sexual misconduct. Tyson also is facing allegations from Tchiya Amet, who’s said that Tyson drugged and assaulted her when they were both in graduate school together. Days after releasing his CHAMPIONSHIPS album, he sat down with Elliott Wilson for a public interview in New York. During that hour-long sit-down, Meek opened up on one of the more hilarious, if not awkward moments of his life when he was dating Nicki Minaj – a dinner date with Jay-Z and Beyonce . Now imagine, you’re with your lady. Beyonce and Jay-Z ask YOU to come out with them for a double date. You’re nervous as hell right? Well, so was Meek — until Jay-Z got a hold of the playlist. “It was my first time. I was hype as s**t. I was with Nicki and s**t. I’m from the hood. Hov and Beyonce like, ‘come and eat with us.’ I’m like damn, I’m about to double date with Hov and Beyonce right now. This s**t is incredible,” he recalled. “So Hov got the playlist. He clicking through s**t. He clicking through, ‘Back to Back’ come on by mistake while we at the table. I’m like oh s**t. What the f**k? So Beyonce and Hov and Nicki, everybody just looking like they don’t know what the f**k is going on. I gotta take a s**t now. What the f**k?” Yup, Hov accidentally played Drake ‘s massive diss record towards Meek at the dinner table. Judging by the timeline, this had to have taken place sometime in 2015 but that is mad awkward. Luckily, Drake and Meek are back on good terms and even recorded a track for CHAMPIONSHIPS called “Doing Bad.” Meek says the pair had spoken a year or so before the track was released, letting time and good spirits heal over what was easily the biggest battle of 2015. George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st president of the United States and the father of ex-Commander-in-Chief George W. Bush, died on Friday night. He was 94 years old. The sad news was confirmed yesterday by spokesperson Jim McGrath. “George Herbert Walker Bush, World War II naval aviator, Texas oil pioneer, and 41st President of the United States of America, died on November 30, 2018. “He was 94 and is survived by his five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two siblings,” the former president’s office said in a statement. Concluded this message: “He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Barbara; his second child Pauline “Robin” Bush; and his brothers Prescott and William or “Bucky” Bush.” Bush, a Republican who held the Oval Office for one term, was hospitalized back in April , just one day after laying his beloved wife to rest. He had contracted an infection at the time, but it’s too early right now to know the President’s cause of death. Son George W. spoke on behalf of his siblings with a statement of his own shortly after his father died on Friday. It reads as follows: Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro, and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George H. W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for. The entire Bush family is deeply grateful for 41’s life and love, for the compassion of those who have cared and prayed for Dad, and for the condolences of our friends and fellow citizens. Funeral details will be announced in the coming days, McGrath also noted. On Twitter, meanwhile, President Trump wrote the following: “President George H.W. Bush led a long, successful and beautiful life. “Whenever I was with him I saw his absolute joy for life and true pride in his family. His accomplishments were great from beginning to end. “He was a truly wonderful man and will be missed by all!” He and wife Melania also released a lengthy statement that we have included below: Prior to his time as the most powerful man in the world, the Massachusetts native served as an aviator in the Navy and flew 58 combat missions during World War II. He was awarded three Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Bush then served as Vice President for eight years to Ronald Reagan. He was a congressman, ambassador to China and director of central intelligence, receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. The former President’s death comes just eight months after his wife of 73 years, Barbara, died on April 17. Even after her passing, Bush remained devoted to his late wife, sitting beside her casket for hours in his wheelchair as mourners paid their respects while she lay in repose one day before her invitation-only funeral. The photos of his tribute made their way around the Internet at the time. Bush’s grandchildren affectionately nicknamed him “Gampy,” and Bush Hager has said on The Today Show that her grandfather “really is one of the most humble, wonderful men.” We send our condolences to his loved ones.
