For the second time in just a few years, controversy has erupted over the selling of a Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume. Back in 2015, shortly after the ex-reality star fully revealed herself to be transgender, folks were given the option of going out in the dress Caitlyn wore to make this groundbreaking announcement. At the time, the costume came with a sash that read “Call Me Caitlyn.” A debate quickly ensued over whether this was a harmless bit of fun… … or if the costume was using Jenner’s lifestyle as a source of mockery. For whatever it was worth back then, Caitlyn said she did NOT find the costume to be offensive . Now, however, she may need to issue a new statement in regard to a new Halloween get-up. A new Caitlyn Jenner costume has hit the market, this one taking potential customers back to the days during which Jenner was known as “Bruce” and was considered, literally, as the greatest athlete in the world. Bruce Jenner was the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics. As you can see above and below, this costume comes replete with a decathlete’s jersey (with Bruce’s number 935); a gold medal; and a pair of teeny tiny shorts. It also comes with a wig. Because Jenner identifies as a woman now… get it? HILARIOUS! Really, jusy so very witty, isn’t it? eBay originally sold the outfit for $44.95 prior to removing the item from its collection. But it remains available on Amazon and on the website for Costume Agent, which is the company responsible for this idea. A rep tells TMZ that the organization has no plans to remove the costume from its inventory; not as long as it continues to sell well. “It’s a costume. It’s funny,” says this rep. However, someone from the charity Stonewall – which fights for the rights of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in the United Kingdom – says differently. “This is a reminder of how much is left to do to combat the abuse trans people face every day,” explains this rep, adding: “This costume reduces a marginalised group to the butt of a joke. It should be taken off the shelves.” This seems like a reasonable point of view in our opinion. Then again, it also seems reasonable to let someone buy the costume and then mock the heck out of them on Halloween. For being insensitive? Yes. But also for being boring and unoriginal. Jon James McMurray, a rapper well known and well respected in his native country of Canada, died Saturday while filming a stunt for his latest music video. He was 34 years old. The musician’s management team has confirmed the sad news, saying McMurray lost his life after plunging to the ground while walking on the wing of a plane. “He died filming a project he had been working on for months,” reads this team’s statement, adding: “His final act included performing an airplane stunt that included rapping while walking on the wing. He had trained intensely for this stunt. “However, as Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct. “Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly.” What a tragedy. The incident took place in Vernon, British Columbia. McMurray, who was also an accomplished skier, pursued music after a back injury prevented him from continuing his ski career. He released an album titled Rex Leo in 2016. Jon was an incredibly passionate person and was always smiling. He filled everyone around him with positivity, and never spoke poorly about another person. He truly had a heart of gold,” the statement continues. “Jon would want to be remembered as a beacon of light to follow your dreams, and would want everyone to continue to be inspired through his music and life message.” According to Newsweek, McMurray’s previous stunt performances involved numerous serious injuries — including seven surgeries, two of which were for a fractured neck and broken back. Rory Wayne Bushfield, a skier who was featured in McMurray’s video, paid tribute to the late rapper on Instagram Monday. He wrote the following: The sun is not as bright today as it was yesterday when it was shinning on my homies last moments. Jon James Mcmurray, my very best, dearest and oldest friend passed yesterday evening in a skydiving accident. He was living his ultimate dream, free and full. May he Rest In Peace. I’m gonna miss him so much. Thanks for all the lessons over the years fee. You where such a good man, you brought up everyone around you and I promise to try my best to live as free as you did. Jon is survived by his parents, Doug McMurray and Jen McMurray, his wife, Kali James, and his brother Jarred McMurray. After dealing with drug addiction for a decade of her life, she plans to help other addicts get back on track—with the help of her very own billboard in Times Square. Page Six reports Williams’ new philanthropic campaign Be Here was launched through her Hunter Foundation and “will serve to combat drug and substance abuse.” The famed talk show host previously told the site that she aims to “bring light” to the fact that “addiction doesn’t have to be your demise.” In Wendy’s own words : “I lost a little over 10 years of my life regarding substance abuse, but I’m now going into Season 10 [of The Wendy Williams Show ]. I’m married, I have a great career and a flourishing business…it’s not that you fall down, it’s how you rise. And if you rise, then you reach back. This is a reach back.” As for her billboard, Page Six says it “features a split video of a promotion for the Wendy Show and Williams’ Hunter Foundation. So naturally, figuring out things like custody was massively important, and it made the process drag on a little longer than it might have. Plus, as Kendra mentioned, she was hoping that their marriage could be salvaged. Kendra and Hank began the divorce process this spring, after weeks of what we can only describe as teasing the split on social media. Ultimately, their marriage’s fate may have been sealed the day of Hank’s alleged extramarital handjob . But in the end, it seems that they were just no longer getting along. When parents are fighting, it’s not good for the couple and it’s not good for the children, either. It’s good that they’ve been able to move on for the sake of their family. We hope that Kendra finds the happiness that she seeks. Ideally not with Elon Musk, though. She can do better — just maybe not richer.
