John Parra/Getty Images for for The Hollywood Reporter Common Recites His Powerful Verse About Women Taking Over Both women and men joined the second year of the Women’s March in cities across the country on Saturday, and there were plenty celebrities there to join them. Common was those celebrities joining in on the good cause over in Utah, and there he recited a verse from his lovable 2016 track “The Day Women Took Over.” A pretty perfect song for the occasion. Common raps a verse from a new song “The Day the Women Took Over” at Park City, Utah women's march: “Toilet seats down, that's a no-brainer” pic.twitter.com/9KS7eDIFib — Ryan Pearson (@ryanwrd) January 20, 2018 Common’s song includes powerful messages about a hopeful future like, “The day women took over, let it continue, Now women get paid as much as men do” and “And women, they called b****es because they a boss, In all shapes and sizes, beauty is recognized, Goddess and queens is what we use to describe” According to the Utah Police, somewhere around 8,000 were in attendance at the march on Saturday, a crowd which also included the likes of Jane Fonda, Lena Waithe and Gloria Allred. Last year for it’s inaugural protest, which followed the election of Donald Trump, some estimates pegged the original Women’s March as the largest organized protest in American history. Early Friday morning, Robby Anderson, wide receiver for the New York Jets (a football team), was arrested. The charges include reckless driving, resisting arrest, evading police, and threatening a public servant. But those charges barely scratch the surface. Among other things … he threatened to “nut” in a police officer’s wife’s eye. His words, not ours. It started off on what we assume to be a pretty run-of-the-mill morning in Florida, based upon everything that we’ve heard about Florida Man over the years. In South Florida, police detected a vehicle driving 105 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. That’s … not great. This time, the celebrity speeder wasn’t Justin Bieber, but Robby Anderson. Who, as we mentioned, is a professional athlete. Maybe he was somehow not paying attention, maybe he was thinking of crossing over into another sport — race car driving. Who knows? Whatever the reason, he was allegedly traveling more than twice the legal speed limit. Based upon police descriptions, Robby Anderson noticed when police were trying to pull him over. Instead of finding a safe place to pull over and slowing his vehicle, he allegedly doubled down on reckless driving, running multiple red lights. Per police reports, he was also swerving from one lane into another while attempting to evade police. Folks, please don’t try those sorts of maneuvers at home. Or anyone. Eventually, Robby Anderson did stop his vehicle. But when he did, the police say that they had a new ordeal to face — Robby’s reluctance to allow them to place him in the back of a police car. According to the police report, obtained by NJ.com , Robby Anderson’s bad behavior still wasn’t over. “While in the back of my patrol vehicle, Robert stated that when he got out he was going to find my wife, f–k her, and nut in her eye.” He said WHAT ?! (In case you’re unfamiliar with the term and the context doesn’t clear, nut means orgasm or, in this case, ejaculate) “He continued to make other verbal threats toward my family.” Vague but still not good. “Based on his statements it was clear that he intended to sexually assault my wife.” We imagine that Robby Anderson’s attorney may argue that Robby was simply threatening to seduce the officer’s wife. “He also began to brag about how much money he has and how all I was doing was trying to ‘Ruin his fun.'” Classy. Based upon Robby Anderson’s social media activity from Thursday, we can infer that he was grieving a lost relationship. (He may have just had a breakup) If so, perhaps he was not handling his sense of loss very well. We don’t mean to suggest that he was using any illicit substances, but it’s possible that he had been too upset to go to sleep. It’s also possible that he was just not in a great mood and that this led him to make some terrible choices. None of that is an excuse for literally anything for which he is accused. But it might, at least, be an explanation. Pro-tip: don’t do the things of which Robby Anderson is accused. Especially not making threats against a police officer’s family. Police don’t like it. Fans don’t like it. And prosecutors, courts, and judges really don’t like it. This isn’t Robby’s first brush with the law in Florida. Last year, he was arrested at a Miami music festival. That time, he was also charged with resisting arrest. And also with obstruction of justice. Robby might need to make some better choices.
When it comes to mediocre sex with Donald Trump, Stormy Daniels claims to have all the receipts. As previously reported in TMI-laden detail, the porn star reportedly carried on a lengthy affair with Donald Trump back in 2006. Investigative reporting by The Wall Street Journal and other outlets have uncovered a $130,000 payment that was made to Daniels just prior to the 2016 Presidential election. Daniels allegedly accepted this payout in exchange for keeping quiet about her pervasive banging of the current President, which took place just after Melania Trump gave birth to the couple’s son, Barron. However, In Touch Weekly actually spoke to Daniels in 2011 and has now released the entire transcript of its chat with the adult entertainer. Earlier excerpts revealed that Trump isn’t anything special in bed . “[The sex] was textbook generic,” Daniels told the tabloid. (And this is a woman who has been around the bedpost, if you know what we mean. No judgment.) Now, as mentioned above, In Touch has made public its full chat with Daniels … and it sure is a doozy! Among the tidbits relayed to the magazine by Daniels: The pair met at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Daniels gave Trump her phone number, but only ever communication with him through a bodyguard named Keith. She met Trump in his hotel room several weeks after their introduction and had dinner with him there. She wasn’t so much attracted to Trump as she was “fascinated,” saying: Would you be? “I was definitely stimulated. We had a really good banter. Good conversation for a couple hours. I could tell he was nice, intelligent in conversation.” Trump never really mentioned Melania and never really told Daniels to keep their sex a secret. As for the intercourse… “The sex was nothing crazy. He wasn’t like, chain me to the bed or anything. It was one position,” she said in 2011, adding: ” I can definitely describe his junk perfectly , if I ever have to. He definitely seemed smitten after that. He was like, “I wanna see you again, when can I see you again?” Daniels went on to say that Trump held the possibility of her appearing on The Apprentice over her head for about a year. He insisted her could get her a role on the reality show, which she says is why she kept sleeping with him for so long. She also said the stars did NOT use protection, continuing of the intercourse: “It was one position, what you would expect someone his age to do. It wasn’t bad. Don’t get me wrong.” Through his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, Trump has “vehemently” denied accusations that he slept with Daniels and that he paid her to keep quiet about it. We suggest you pick up the latest copy of In Touch Weekly and decide for yourself whether you believe all Daniels has to say. Either that, or you can just believe Donald Trump… because he’s been nothing but a sincere teller of truths throughout his public life, right? No? He hasn’t been? Like we said, you can make up your own mind about this story. For now, though, we need to go throw up a lot due to all the references here to Trump’s penis.
The very sad and unfortunate news is in: The official cause of death for music legend Tom Petty has been revealed. The veteran artist passed away in early October , with his manager making the announcement at the time that shook millions of fans. “We are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty,” said Tony Dimitriades, adding: “He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. local time (0340 GMT Tuesday) surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.” Petty was 66 years old. Now, nearly five months after Petty died, the results of his autopsy have been made public. In a statement posted on the late singer’s website Friday night, his family said the beloved musician had been using a number of medications, including opioid pain medication Fentanyl. He ultimately died of “multi-system organ failure” caused by “mixed drug toxicity,” according to the aforementioned autopsy report, released on Friday by the Los Angeles County Coroner. During an examination on October 3, the medical examiner found fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl. Petty was discovered to be suffering from coronary artery atherosclerosis and emphysema. “Our family sat together this morning with the Medical Examiner – Coroner’s office and we were informed of their final analysis that Tom Petty passed away due to an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications,” reads the family statement. It was signed by widow Dana and daughter Adria. Petty’s loved ones went on to explain that the linchpin to Petty’s demise was a fractured hip. The singer insisted on touring for 53 concert dates with this difficult condition, which only grew over time and which caused him to take the medications listed on the examiner’s findings. “On the day he died, [Petty] was informed his hip had graduated to a full-on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his overuse of medication,” the family continued in its statement. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office finished an autopsy on the rocker in October, but the official cause of death required further investigation at the time. Said his family on Friday: “We knew before the report was shared with us that he was prescribed various pain medications for a multitude of issues including Fentanyl patches and we feel confident that this was, as the coroner found, an unfortunate accident.” Fentanyl, it should be noted, is the same opiate that killed Prince in April . The Centers for Disease Control approximates that fentanyl is 80 times as potent as morphine and hundreds of times more potent than heroin. It is classified as a Schedule II drug by the federal government and its medical uses are normally pain management following surgery or for chronic pain. Petty’s relatives acknowledged these facts in its statement. As a family we recognize this report may spark a further discussion on the opioid crisis and we feel that it is a healthy and necessary discussion and we hope in some way this report can save lives. Many people who overdose begin with a legitimate injury or simply do not understand the potency and deadly nature of these medications. Concluded this lengthy note, which was shared on Facebook: On a positive note we now know for certain he went painlessly and beautifully exhausted after doing what he loved the most, for one last time, performing live with his unmatchable rock band for his loyal fans on the biggest tour of his 40 plus year career. He was extremely proud of that achievement in the days before he passed. We continue to mourn with you and marvel at Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ incredible positive impact on music and the world. And we thank you all for your love and support over the last months. May Tom Petty rest in peace. View Slideshow: 22 Celebrities Who Died from an Overdose
Image via Danielle James/iONEDigital How Black Hollywood Is Failing The Black Press This article was written by staff writer and producer Keyaira Kelly and was originally published by our iONE sister site Hello Beautiful . I was a budding journalist nervously going over my iPhone notes for my first red carpet interview when I noticed it. I was proudly standing on the HelloBeautiful place marker waiting for the behind-the-scenes chaos to begin, when I spotted around my feet the strategic placements of almost every other Black outlet in the space. It doesn’t take a veteran to realize the Black press cluster at the end of red carpet lineups makes Black reporters susceptible to the brush-by of celebs and publicists who politely quip, “sorry, ran out of time” as they scurry out of view. Black media often receives rushed statements, or no comment at all, even though that same Black celebrity stopped for E! Online just moments ago. The strategic cafeteria table-esque segregation of Black press on red carpets is one of many micro-aggressions we face as Black journalists. And while being placed at the tail-end of a carpet is more indicative of the predominately White media system and its value assessment of Black press, these oversights are even more hurtful when they come from your own people. The fact is, too many of our Black celebrities are simply not supporting us. Most, if not all, Black celeb power seeds in our communities. The dominant corporations and media powers-that-be mine our talent and resources for the “next big thing.” And Black media celebrates when our people are plucked out of our silos and make it. We cheer as they float up into mainstream heaven with the hopes that, as they ascend, that they will still feel our loose grips on their balloon strings and tug back. But all too often, that mutual support just isn’t felt. In many cases, once a celebrity passes a certain status, they completely forget about those same Black media outlets who were among the first to cover them and their talents. We live in an age where social capital immediately translates into monetary capital. Re-tweets and shares translate into clicks, which drive traffic and advertising dollars and revenue. That’s the reality of our business model. So when small teams of Black journalists take the time and effort to profile a Black celebrity with a large reach and that content isn’t shared with the influencer’s audiences, the impact reverberates through us all. Just a simple scan of some of your favorite Black celebs Twitter and IG feeds and you would discover links to and RTs of interviews they did with White outlet after White outlet, while Black-owned, Black-run press is often omitted from the conversation. I don’t write this with the intent to say the erasure is entirely malicious or even conscious. The lure of White validation is something we’ve all been conditioned to seek. In 2016, Very Smart Brothas writer Damon Young, unpacked how he, and many other Black people, subconsciously value “the attention of the mainstream platforms more than the Black ones”–even if they don’t show us the same love back. We still throw up our hands in outrage when we lose Oscars and Grammys and Golden Globes to mediocre White talent, when in reality those systems were never created to celebrate us in the first place. After Beyoncés “Lemonade” album of the year Grammy snub in 2016, Solange echoed this sentiment urging black folks to “Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold my g’s.” Black press was born from that same place of urgency. Early 19th-century Black newspapers like the Freedom’s Journal, the North Star and the Frederick Douglas Papers sought to inform Black people from Black perspectives during a time when literacy rates were dismal among our people. After thriving for a century, many Black newspapers folded, unable to attract advertising dollars in the midst of economic crisis. Fortunately, the spirit of those early Black media outlets were reincarnated digitally, with outlets like The Root, Ebony, The Grio, Blavity, Black Voices, Madame Noire, Essence, and HelloBeautiful’s own parent company iOne Digital now carrying the torch and commitment to telling our stories our way. In a time where the press and freedom of speech are under attack more than ever before in modern history, the support from our communities and our celebrities is indispensable. When we say Black Lives Matter, we have to talk about this statement beyond the clutches of police brutality: behind every one of our bylines is a Black life. Black jobs matter. Black families matter. Black POVs matters. Black ownership matters. #BlackPressMatters. And when you have a company, like iOne Digital, which is one of the few remaining Black-owned media companies in the country, snubbed or not acknowledged for our coverage and support of Black interests, it eats away at the foundation of success that keeps our communities alive. So Black celebs, my brothers and sisters, I urge you to pay attention to the Black journalist at the end of the carpet nervously holding her recorder waiting to snag a quote from you. Tell your publicist that you want to give equal time to People Mag and MadameNoire. Google your name and make a note to retweet or share the latest article from the small Black women’s website that can’t get enough of your style choices. When breaking news happens, make it a point to share coverage from the black perspective as well as the big headline from CNN. After you complete an interview, post that photo inside our small studios and don’t forget to tag our brands. We’re all in this together. And nobody wins when the family forgets. Editor’s note: We truly hope this message sinks in with all of our beloved Black celebrities

You know how some celebrities always look the same in photos? Woody Allen’s one of those. He tends to look bewildered. And bewildered is how many feel every time that they see Woody Allen out and about instead of, you know, rotting in a jail cell. Ellen Pompeo is courageously speaking out and slamming Woody Allen. Honestly? “Fool” is, relatively speaking, one of the nicest thing’s Allen’s ever been called. Ellen Pompeo quoted a HelloGiggles (love that site) tweet that read: “A journalist went through Woody Allen’s personal journals and found he was obsessed with teenage girls.” Pompeo quoted that tweet with, well, what we were all thinking: “I haven’t gone through his personal journals and I knew that… shocked the people that work with this man # ambition is [blind].” And that was only the beginning of what she had to say. When someone in a now-deleted tweet apparently tried to suggest that Woody Allen had “made mistakes” in the past (that’s what we infer that they said,” Pompeo replied: “I don’t call it a mistake… he married his daughter…people see what they want to see or don’t…Kind of hard not to see who this fool is.” Like we said — “fool” is pretty much the nicest word for Woody Allen, considering the damning accusations that he molested Dylan Farrow as a child . Also he married his daughter, Soon-Yi. But Ellen Pompeo was just getting started Ellen Pompeo continued by targeting Woody Allen’s alleged racism, tweeting: “And while we’re on the subject & I’m fired up has this fool ever put one poc in any of his movies ever?” and “What about Hispanic or Asian actors? Or are asians only for him to molest? You know me when I get started.” Woody Allen’s casting tends to be about as white as snow on a golf course, but one follower pointed out that Penelope Cruz won an Oscar for her role in one of his films. Pompeo acknowledged this, but notes that she genuinely doesn’t know about who’s in his films, because: “I wouldn’t know because I don’t watch that bougie s–t.” Honestly, it’s always nice to see Ellen Pompeo go off. One tweeter mentioned to Ellen Pompeo that some people try to “separate the professional from the person.” You know, like going to Chick-fil-A despite their politics, or seeing a Johnny Depp film despite the abuse allegations, or seeing a film by Brett Ratner or Roman Polanski or Brian Singer or … well, there are way too many names. Ellen replied: “You know what I call that?? Ducking predators and chasing trophies…it’s WEAK AF.” Ellen went on to talk about how, too often, black women’s voices are ignored when they accuse a man of sexual predation. She cites the many accusations against Bill Cosby, the first of which were ignored for years and years and years before soem famous white women spoke out. And, in the mean time, famous actresses who should know better — actresses whom I admire, like Selena Gomez and Blake Lively — continue to work with Woody Allen. It takes people like Ellen Pompeo using their platforms to keep momentum going. Woody Allen has not had his Weinstein moment yet. While many people eagerly await the day that Woody Allen is no longer among the living, it’s their hope that he’ll die in prison rather in the comfort of his home. He’s 82-years-old and those who want to see him brought to justice and publicly disgraced know that the clock is ticking. Now is the perfect time to talk about this. Even the Golden Globes, with Oprah’s epic speech and Debra Messing taking a stand for pay equality , had its flaws. James Franco, accused of having an inappropriate interest in underage teen girls, won for The Disaster Artist last night. And accused wife-beater Gary Oldman won Best Actor. Society has a long, long way to go. But even among other controversial and despised figures who still roam free, Woody Allen continues to stick out like a sore thumb.
