Source: Smith Collection/Gado / Getty Owner Of Equinox & SoulCycle Faces Outrage Over Trump Fundraiser The receptionists at Equinox have their work cut out for them this week. Word got out on Wednesday that the owner of Equinox is planning a high-dollar Hamptons fundraiser for the Cheeto-In-Chief himself, Donald Trump. This news lead to outrage online and sparked calls for a boycott of the luxury gym and its associated businesses, SoulCycle and Blink Fitness. Real estate developer Stephen Ross is chairman and majority owner of the Related Companies, which oversees Equinox Fitness. He is set to host a luncheon on Friday, according to the invitation, at which attendees will pay up to $100,000 for a picture with the President and $250,000 to listen in on a roundtable discussion. Imagine the things you could do with $100K…all of them are better than taking a picture with that guy . The Washington Post first reported the news of the fundraiser, sparking some serious online outrage. The news didn’t sit well with a lot of regular folk and celebrities alike who frequent the expensive gym, who don’t want their hundreds of dollars a month used to support Donald Chump. Celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Billy Eichner were extremely vocal over their thoughts on the matter, with Billy cancelling his membership and Teigen urging her famous friends to do the same. Hey @Equinox – what’s your policy for canceling memberships once a member finds out your owner is enabling racism and mass murder? — billy eichner (@billyeichner) August 7, 2019 the gym is my personal hell but if you're a member of Equinox perhaps it is time to say peace(out)-inox ayyyyy I'm still sick yes but fuck equinox https://t.co/SJBsBNXT8Q — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) August 7, 2019 Stephen Ross responded to all of the backlash in a statement to CNN , saying “I have always been an active participant in the democratic process. … I have known Donald Trump for 40 years, and while we agree on some issues, we strongly disagree on many others and I have never been bashful about expressing my opinions. I have been, and will continue to be, an outspoken champion of racial equality, inclusion, diversity, public education and environmental sustainability, and I have and will continue to support leaders on both sides of the aisle to address these challenges.” In addition to that statement, Samantha Bonizzi, a spokesperson for Equinox and SoulCycle, told the publication , “Neither Equinox nor SoulCycle have anything to do with the event later this week and do not support it. As is consistent with our policies, no company profits are used to fund politicians.” She added, “We are committed to all our members and the communities we live in. We believe in tolerance and equality, and will always stay true to those values. Mr. Ross is a passive investor and is not involved in the management of either business.” On social media, people are continuing to post screenshots cancelling their memberships and responding to those who don’t understand why supporting Trump is reason enough to not support a business. Cancelled that membership @Equinox & as if! I never paid those outrageous non discounted ass soul cycle prices pic.twitter.com/L3Pf5N18P5 — Jonathan Van Ness (@jvn) August 8, 2019 luckily for me, I've already been boycotting SoulCycle and Equinox due to *checks notes* my inability to pay hundreds of dollars a month for a gym membership — eve peyser (@evepeyser) August 8, 2019 Hey @Equinox I’ve been a member at Equinox for over 14years & I’m shocked 2 hear my membership dues are going to fund a President who is a racist. I call on all my friends (U know who U are) who have memberships 2 #Equinox cancel yours, ASAP! #PassiveInvestorMyAss #KidVicious https://t.co/Q5gm9KgFdH — kirk acevedo (@kirkacevedo) August 8, 2019 Don’t believe this “passive investor” explanation. If you do business with @soulcycle or @Equinox you are doing business with Stephen Ross. https://t.co/l1Y6f1NqcN — Pat Kiernan (@patkiernan) August 8, 2019
Source: John Greim / Getty If CNN can pull it off, it will have an essential dream team of all-Black panelists for an upcoming political roundtable show. April Ryan, Andrew Gillum, Angela Rye, and Bakari Sellers all made a recent appearance together on the network during one of its morning shows, and it appears the chemistry was undeniable. Page Six reports : We’re told the cable network hopes to hire regular CNN contributors April Ryan, Andrew Gillum, Angela Rye and Bakari Sellers as panelists for a brand-new show. The plan was kicked into high gear following the positive response the group received after appearing on the network’s morning show, “New Day With Alisyn Camerota and John Berman” during the Democratic debates last week. “It was the most excitement on that morning show since Chris Cuomo left as co-anchor,” a source told us. “CNN is fast-tracking talks … to develop it into a stand-alone show. The early chatter is that it could start as a weekend show that would rival MSNBC’s programming with Joy Reid, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Kendis Gibson.” Sounds promising. Hopefully, CNN can pull this off. — Photo: Getty

According to CNN , the now 31-year-old was sentenced to life in prison when she was only 16 after killing a man who paid her for sex. In January, she was granted clemency by then-Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Now, Cyntoia is finally returning to a life outside bars. “I look forward to using my experiences to help other women and girls suffering abuse and exploitation,” Brown said after being released on Wednesday. Brown’s case drew national attention over the years with activists, lawmakers and even celebrities like Rihanna bringing attention to her case. The hashtag #FreeCyntoiaBrown even went viral on social media back in 2017 . Brown will be coming out with a bachelor’s degree and she’s collaborated with Tennessee’s Juvenile Justice System to help advise young people who are at risk. “She is light years today, as a woman, different from the traumatized 16-year-old that she was,” Derri Smith, CEO and founder of non-profit End Slavery Tennessee, said back in January. “She’s mentoring troubled youth, working on her college degree, she is planning a nonprofit so she can help other young people.” Congrats to Cyntoia and hopefully we can expect more great things!

Haircuts like mohawks and designs etched into the hair was deemed not acceptable. Source: Astrid Stawiarz / Getty You might have noticed Mario Lopez was trending on Twitter earlier today and wondered why. The Extra host appeared on “The Candace Owens Show” (we don’t know why) and made a comment about parents allowing their children to label themselves trans at a young age. In response to Owens comment about raising Hollywood children as trans, calling it “dangerous” and sparking the hashtag #IstandwithMarioLopez in the process. “I’m blown away too,” Lopez replied. “I’m never one to tell anyone how to parent their children… if you come from a place of love, you can’t go wrong.” He added, “But, my God, if you’re 3 years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way and you think you’re a boy or girl, I think it’s dangerous as a parent to make that determination then,” he continued. Lopez said it’s “alarming” and there may be repercussions later on. I’m disappointed to read @MarioLopezExtra comments about parent’s who support their child’s openes about their gender identity. Back in June, Jim Bob Duggar’s beloved mother Mary Duggar passed away unexpectedly. Mary was 78 years old, but she did not die from natural causes, as many initially assumed. it was later revealed that Mary Duggar drowned in an incident that still remains mysterious to the public. Obviously, the family is entitled to its privacy at such a difficult time, but considering how much the Duggars have shared with the world, it comes as little surprise that they’ve been bombarded with questions in the months following Mary’s death. Chief among those queries is — how are Mary’s many grandchildren holding up in the wake of her grisly demise? When it comes to such sensitive matters, it often falls to Amy Duggar — the most outspoken member of her famous family — to clear the air: Amy posted the above pic on Instagram this week, along with a caption reading: “New body & our new @3130clothing space under construction 30 weeks and bumpin right along! “The wall to my right is going up, and the wall to my left is coming down!” Yes, Amy Duggar is opening a clothing store. We’re sure Jim Bob is thrilled. What if she sells pants for women?! Anyway, as much as fans appreciated the update on Amy’s pregnancy and latest business venture, but it was an exchange in the comments that’s attracted the most attention. As In Touch Weekly points out , Amy gave an enlightening response to a fan who offered praise: “[Can’t] believe your [sic] 30 weeks already … it flew by,” the follower wrote. “It’s crazy to think that Dax will be here in Oct!!” Amy answered, which led the fan to reply: “You will be great parents … he will be a welcome addition to the family especially all stress you have been through the past few months … you deserve all the luck and love God can give.” It was then that Amy provided an insight into her grieving process: “It has been one of the hardest seasons, and I think about her every single day!” she wrote. “She taught me so much … I’m thankful for this little life and all the fun we are going to have! Thank you!!” Mary was beloved by all of the Duggars, but it seems she and Amy were particularly close: “It breaks my heart to write this,” Amy wrote on social media following her grandmother’s passing. “My best friend passed away yesterday afternoon. Jesus sure took home a treasure. “I’m at a loss for words, shaking as I even type this out. I loved her so much. She helped raise me, we did everything together. Obviously, this is a tremendously difficult time for Amy. We won’t offer up any cliches about the circle of life, but hopefully, she can take solace in how proud Mary would be of Amy’s growing family.
