SMH: CBS Rejects Super Bowl Ad Calling For The Legalization of Medical Marijuana

Source: MediaNews Group/Boulder Daily Camera via Getty Images / Getty Super Bowl Commercial For Medical Marijuana Shut Down Though The NFL and the Super Bowl in particular are known for running huge ads about alcohol, it looks like they’re not quite ready to put their money behind medical marijuana . According to reports from  Bloomberg , Acreage Holdings claims that  CBS  cut a medical marijuana ad from the televised portion of the Super Bowl after viewing a rough outline of the commercial. The multi-state marijuana company tells the publication that the goal of the advertisement was to “create an advocacy campaign for constituents who are being lost in the dialogue” and thought that the most-watched event of the year could help push this same narrative. Although medical marijuana is legal in over 30 states as of now, federal restrictions hinder many from actually obtaining their cannabis. Let’s look at Oklahoma, for example. Even though medical marijuana is legal in the state, the  Tulsa World  reports that it is against the law for a doctor to actually prescribe the substance. This is due to the fact that marijuana is still classified by the federal government as a schedule one controlled substance–which means doctors are prohibited from discussing strains and dosages with their patients as that would be considered aiding and abetting, which is punishable by law. These nuanced–and quite frankly, confusing–difficulties that occur around the country are the reason that many feel the commercial would have been informative and beneficial airing during the Super Bowl. Now, fans are calling out the league’s hypocrisy for choosing not to air the ad because, like we mentioned before, the big game is known for giving tons of air time to beer. And we all know network television has no problem airing commercials for prescription drugs. So the game sponsored by the alcohol industry that consists of people beating the crap out of each other and which turns a blind eye to domestic violence now has the moral high ground to decide that a little green plant used for medicine is too much for viewers to handle. Ok. — Blake Yagman (@blakeyagman) January 22, 2019 The NCIS crowd prefers percs and whiskey — Zoo With Roy (@zoowithroy) January 22, 2019 I guess the side effects list was too short. — VeggiePasta (@veggiepasta) January 22, 2019 I bet @CBS will run hella alcohol and pharmaceutical drug ads though, which are both way more dangerous — Devils advocate since 1982. Ankh Explanation: Erykah Badu Explains Her R. Kelly Comments, Fans Still Say ‘See You Next Lifetime’

Source: Ethan Miller/BET/Scott Legato / Contributor / Getty Fair or foul??? Erykah Badu Explains R. Kelly Comments Erykah Badu is explaining comments she made during her Chicago concert. As previously reported Erykah got hit with a barrage of ‘boos when she brought up R. Kelly and said that she was “praying for him” before adding that fans weren’t sending “unconditional love” his way. “I’m sending a prayer right now for R,” said Erykah. “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about,” she continued. “I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.” “But y’all say f— it! That’s not love. That’s not unconditional love. But what if one of the people that was assaulted by R. Kelly grows up to be an offender themselves. We gonna crucify them? How do we do this? Just something to think about.” Now Erykah’s clarifying her comments and standing by saying that she has “unconditional love” and wants “healing” for him. “That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices,” said the soul songstress. I love you. Unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt. Is that strange to you ? That’s all I’ve ever said. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context. – eb — ErykahBadoula (@fatbellybella) January 21, 2019 Despite her explanation, fans still aren’t buying and are wondering in particular why she’s not sending that same love his alleged victims’ way. my problem is that you have a history of blaming lil girls for the male attraction they receive + you speak about the trauma Kelly faced more than you are affirming of the many young Black girls he continues to victimize — MS. BLISS (@ajthe1ne) January 21, 2019 Reducing decades of abuses and violence to poor choices is where you’re misstepping. Responding to such devastating circumstances requires a great amount of discernment and depth. I see where you’re coming from to an extent, not sure why ur loving on him instead of his prey. — Leather (@BeLeather) January 21, 2019 Do YOU agree with Erykah??? Or will YOU be “seeing her next lifetime”?? Source: Jeff Kravitz / Getty

The Bachelor Sneak Peek: "This is My Worst Nightmare"

To be clear up front, Colton Underwood faces the ultimate first world problem in The Bachelor clip featured here. The guy is stuck in the middle of a feud between two beauty pageant contestants in skimpy outfits, battling for his love and attention. There's no reason to feel especially bad for the famous virgin here, okay? That said, Underwood sort of freaks out in this sneak peek from his third episode, which opens with Caelynn Miller-Keyes bringing up her past with fellow contestant Hannah Brown. Caelynn, who actually won Miss North Carolina in 2018, tells Colton here that Hannah has said some “not kind” things about her during their rivalry… which wasn't always a rivalry. The beauties used to actually be quite close. The way Caelynn tells it, however, Hannah then grew jealous of her success and this caused her to become “deceitful,” “manipulative” and “toxic.” Colton finds it all “very concerning.” To his credit, though, Underwood approaches Hannah with what he's heard and asks for her take. “I just don't know what to believe,” he tells Hannah in this clip, who doesn't exactly inspire confidence in Colton when she seems to get irritated at the accusations and says: “Just frickin trust me.” If only it were that easy, right? Do either of these women advance to Colton's final four? You can visit our section of The Bachelor spoilers to find out. As for how Colton responds to Hannah and why she labels this situation her “worst nightmare?” You can check out the video here to see what transpires!

Ariana Grande Apologizes For Lyrical Theft, Racially Insensitive Remarks

Ariana Grande is in hot water again, and this time, the offense is considerably more serious than licking a donut . Last week, Grande released “7 Rings,” a single inspired by her closest friendships. Certainly doesn’t sound like the kind of song that would result in a major controversy and a heartfelt apology, but that’s exactly what happened. When rapper Princess Nokia rightly noted that several lines in the song sound remarkably similar to her own lyrics, she took to Instagram to call Ariana out. In a since-deleted video, Nokia criticized Grande for what she perceived to be racially-tinged plagiarism. “Does that sound familiar to you?” Nokia said. “‘Cause that sound really familiar to me. Oh my god! Ain’t that the lil’ song I made about brown women and their hair? Hmm … sounds about white.” “You like my hair? Gee, thanks, just bought it/I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it,” Grande sings on “7 Rings.” ”Flip the weave, I am a stunner/It’s mine, I bought it/It’s mine, I bought it,” Princess Nokia raps in her song “Mine.” Not an exact copy, but it’s certainly not hard to see why Nokia took issue with the familiar lyrics. Unfortunately, Grande proceeded to make the situation worse by “white-splaining” her cultural appropriation, rather than simply apologizing. “‘You like my hair? Gee, thanks, just bought it’… White women talking about their weaves is how we’re gonna solve racism,” Grande commented on an Instagram post about the situation. Not surprisingly, the remark was not well received, and the backlash caused Grande to go on the offensive. “Hi hi… I think her intention was to be like… yay a white person disassociating the negative [stereotype] that is paired with the word ‘weave’…” she wrote. “However I’m so sorry if my response was out of pocket or if it came across the wrong way. “Thanks for opening the conversation and like… to everyone for talking to me about it. It’s never my intention to offend anybody.” To make matters worse, Grande stands accused of copying her vocal delivery of the song from rapper Soulja Boy. The similarity between “7 Rings” and Soulja Boy’s “Pretty Boy Swag” was first pointed out by 2 Chainz, who commented: “Tryna figure out if I should Big Draco @arianagrande … ya’ll tell me in the comments.” Soulja Boy seconded the accusation, tweeting simply, “You’re a thief.” Sounds like Ari may soon be forced to issue another round of apologies. Meghan Markle: Distressed Over Bullying By Online Trolls

Officially , Meghan Markle deleted her Instagram when her relationship with Prince Harry started to get serious. Smart move, as exchanging social media for a royal title is objectively a pretty sweet deal, especially as the internet seems to become more of a cesspool of narcissism and bigotry every day. But Meghan went from a relatively unknown actress to one of the most famous women on the planet overnight, so she must be curious as to what the trolls and sycophants of the world wide web have to say about her. Thus, it’s easy to believe the rumors of Meghan’s secret Instagram account . And it’s also easy to believe the hate directed at her online by anonymous dingbats quickly became too much for the Duchess to handle. “With so much drama surrounding her, Meghan really wants to know what everyone actually thinks of her,” an insider tells Radar Online of Meghan’s lurker account. In the years prior to her relationship with Harry, Meghan was actually quite active on the ‘Gram, and her account was closely linked to her Goop-esque lifestyle site, The Tig. So Meg is no stranger to what nasty places comments sections can be. The source reveals that for now at least, Meghan has parted ways with social media. The reason? It seems she was simply appalled by the horrendous things people were saying about her online. “It really got to her and, in the end, she had to shut down that account just before Christmas, too, to protect her mental health,” says the insider . “She felt very isolated and alone.” Now Meghan has been called a “fat lady” to her face while pregnant, and she’s been suffering the slings and arrows of the notorious British tabloid press for two years now. She’s no thin-skinned wimp, is what we’re saying. So the stuff Meghan read about herself that caused her to shut down her account must have been pretty awful. Apparently, some of it was so bad that it led Meghan to fear for her safety. “She doesn’t feel safe enough to go out on her own without protection,” says the source. “There are certain things she’s extremely paranoid about, such as being physically attacked.” Dammit, internet. This is why we can’t have nice things. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle vs. Kate Middleton Feud: Tearing William and Harry Apart?!

Joy-Anna Duggar Apologizes For Encouraging Anorexic Fan to Lose Weight

Last week, Joy-Anna vaguely discussed her weight loss methods in a cryptic video that appeared on her Instagram page, In a video that was clearly intended to pique curiosity in the Optavia weight loss system, the mother of one revealed that she had shed all of her post-baby weight — but initially, she didn’t say how. Joy-Anna Duggar: I Lost My Baby Weight! As intended, the post quickly caught the attention of Duggar fans who are looking to lose a few pounds. “Excited to share about this! It’s been SOOO helpful for me,” Joy captioned the above video. “My health coach has lost 47lbs in 15 weeks and her husband has lost 40lbs in just 9 weeks!! If you’re ready to start or just have questions please email me your phone number and we’d love to talk with you!” One fan commented that she would love to lose weight, but must be “careful” in doing so due to past issues with anorexia. “Awesome! This is all clean and has probiotics built in!” Shortly thereafter, a third Instagram user posted a screenshot of what she claimed was a DM conversation with Joy, “Your comments responding to ladies with eating disorders on your Optavia video are very dangerous,” the person allegedly messaged Joy. The person added that Joy should be “aware that those of us with eating disorders SHOULD NOT be encouraged to lose weight by anybody but our own doctors.” To her credit, Joy promptly responded in apologetic fashion. “Thank you for your concern,” Joy wrote. “I did not mean at all to text the girl that has anorexia and I feel so bad, I tried to find the account so I could fix what I said.” From there, Joy explained that she had only the best intentions in encouraging fans to use the Optavia program. “As far as my health coach, once she gets on a call she tells each person to check with their GP before doing it,” she wrote. “Optavia is a great program and is recommended by lots of doctors. But I understand it is not good for all.” The Duggars are generally very careful when it comes to the products they choose to endorse on social media. In fact, they’re careful in social media in general, with Jim Bob and Michelle usually forbidding their children to start accounts until they’re grown and married. This incident is likely serving as a reminder of why they take such extreme precautions. View Slideshow: Joy-Anna Duggar Gives Birth to BIGGEST Duggar Baby After Traumatizing Labor
