Reality TV Drama: Sweetie Pie’s Owner Sues Her Son Over Trademark Infringement And Theft

Sweetie Pie’s Owner Sues Her Son Over Trademark Infringement And Theft Looks like some drama is being served at your favorite soul food TV spot according to Biz Journals : Robbie Montgomery, reality TV star and founder of St. Louis restaurant Sweetie Pie’s, has accused her son of stealing money and misusing her trademarks to open competing restaurants, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court Tuesday. The suit, filed in the Eastern District of Missouri, said that Montgomery discovered last summer that James T. Norman “had been misappropriating Plaintiff’s accounts and funds maintained in connection with his management of” Sweetie Pie’s in The Grove, at 4270 Manchester Ave. The suit said Norman withdrew “substantial sums of money” from the accounts and used them to open and operate restaurants in North Hollywood, California; Berkeley and Florissant. It also said Norman has refused to return the money. The suit accuses Norman of violating Sweetie Pie’s trademarks. “Authorized” Sweetie Pie’s locations are located in The Grove and in Dellwood, according to the suit, but TJ’s Sweetie Pie’s Noho (North Hollywood, California), TJ’s Sweetie Pie’s Airport (Berkeley) and Sweetie Pie’s Kitchen (Florissant) are not authorized. Montgomery’s first restaurant, in Dellwood, opened in 1996, and recently reopened. A listed phone number for The Grove restaurant was disconnected Wednesday. The suit said Norman’s misuse of Sweetie Pie’s marks, registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2006, impairs Montgomery’s ability to operate her restaurants in the St. Louis area and to open any restaurants in the Los Angeles area. The suit cited negative online reviews for Norman’s restaurants as having damaged the perception of Montgomery’s. SMH!!!!!!!

Justin Bieber Turns Down MASSIVE Payday, Sticks It to GOP

Unlike Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Lenny Kravitz, Justin Bieber did not perform at the Democratic National Convention this week. But that doesn’t mean the singer didn’t make his political leanings very well known. He just did so in a more subtle manner. And a more impressive manner, some might argue. According to TMZ, Bieber was offered $5 MILLION to perform at a Republican-sponsored event during last week’s Republican National Convention. The performance would not have taken place at Quicken Loans Arena, where the gathering was held, but at a venue nearby. Insiders tell TMZ that the offer was made to CAA, Bieber’s talent agency, and that a promoter got in touch with Bieber’s people to ask if Justin would sing in Cleveland for about 45 minutes. (For those doing the math, that comes out to over $100,000 per minute.) The promoter tried to assure Bieber that the concert would not be political in any way; that he would not be asked to endorse Donald Trump or discuss policy or anything of that nature. But the event would have been bankrolled by GOP donors. Moreover, Bieber would be paid up front and the donors would cover all production costs. It would have been the single biggest payday of all-time for Justin Bieber. And he turned it down. Sources tell TMZ that Bieber did ponder the offer for a bit. He’s Canadian, after all, and could have argued that he doesn’t have much of a stake in an American election. But Bieber’s manager and close friend, Scooter Braun, is a huge Hillary Clinton supporter. He even held a fundraiser for her at his Los Angeles mansion. Braun and others at CAA believed that, regardless of the impressions they were given, the event would have been “100 percent political.” Scooter reportedly tried to negotiate with the promoter who made the offer, asking, for instance, if Bieber could hang a “Black Lives Matter” banner inside the venue while he performed. But the answer was no. And it was also made clear that Bieber could not insult Trump in any way at the show. Still… Bieber was the person who made the final decision. He actually spoke with LeBron James in order to do so because Conservative insider told Justin that the famous basketball player would also be appearing in Cleveland last week; also in a non-endorsement capacity. But LeBron told Bieber this was incorrect information. He was staying far away from his adopted hometown during the Republican National Convention. In the end, with Bieber’s all-African-American band also being turned off by the possibility, Bieber turned down the invitation. Pretty cool, huh? Pretty interesting to go inside the machinations of a political campaign and how it tries to recruit celebrities to its cause… … and even cooler of Bieber to say no to such a massive payday. Hillary Clinton at the DNC: What Did She Say?

Hillary Clinton has accepted the nomination for President of the United States. This was the most expected part of the speech she delivered on Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention. What else did she say about America and about her opponent, Donald Trump. Scroll down for the highlights: 1. Bill of Goods On Tuesday night, I was so happy to see that my explainer in chief is still on the job. 2. Kaine is Able For those of you out there who are just getting to know Tim Kaine, you will soon understand why the people of Virginia keep promoting him from city council to mayor, to governor and now senator and he will make our whole country proud as our next vice president. 3. Feeling the Bern Bernie, your campaign inspired millions of Americans, particularly the young people who do their hearts and souls into our primary. You put economic and social justice issues brought and center where they belong. 4. Taking Aim at Trump He wants to divide us from the rest of the world and from each other. He is betting that the perils of today’s world will blind us to its unlimited promise. He is taken the Republican party a long way from mourning in America to midnight in America. He wants us to fear the future and fear each other. 5. It Takes a Village Freedom and equality justice and opportunity — we should be so proud those words are associated with us …When people here those words they hear America, so don’t let anyone tell you our country is weak, we’re not. … And most of all, don’t believe anyone who says ‘I alone can fix it.’ 6. Who Am I? I’ve been your first lady, I’ve served eight years as a senator for the great state of New York and then I represented all of you as secretary of state, but my job titles only tell you what I’ve done, they don’t tell you why. The truth is through all these years … the service part has always come easier to me than the public part … I get it that some people just don’t know what to make of me. View Slideshow

Chloe Grace Moretz Sets Aside Khloe Kardashian Feud to Endorse Hillary Clinton

Last night, Hillary Clinton accepted the Democrat’s nomination and became the first female major-party candidate in United States history. It was a historic moment, and some of Hollywood’s biggest stars were on hand to celebrate. Bradley Cooper was at the DNC to support Clinton and prove once and for all that he is not actually an American sniper. View Slideshow: Bradley Cooper Attends DNC, Causes Total Republican Meltdown Katy Perry sang at the convention and sadly, she didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to throw shade at Taylor Swift. Katy was an apt choice, as like Clinton, she has experience butting heads with a privileged blonde who weirdly appeals to Southerners. Speaking of feuds, Chloe Grace Moretz – who, over the past week, has become wrapped up in an increasingly ugly war with Khloe Kardashian  – took time to encourage young people to register to vote. The 19-year-old actress shared the story of her own registration process and offered some inspiring words on what it meant: Chloe Grace Moretz at the DNC “It took just a minute,” she said, “but it gave me the power of a lifetime, the power to make my voice heard and to shape the future of our country.” “So just imagine, imagine what can happen if we all make our voices heard this November at the ballot box,” the Kick-Ass star said. “We can elect a president who will fight to give every American a chance to graduate from college debt-free. We can elect a president who will fight for equal pay for equal work.” Inspiring stuff that’s reminiscent of Kendall Jenner’s “get out the vote” campaign. All-in-all, it must have been a confusing night for the Kardashian-Jenner clan. A candidate that Kim endorsed accepted the nomination; a singer they’re friends with gave the performance, but someone that Khloe’s been harassing on Twitter gave one of the night’s most talked-about speeches. This election is tearing the family apart, and someone needs to make the Kardashians great again! Just kidding, they were never great. View Slideshow: Hillary Clinton at the DNC: What Did She Say?

Ryan Lochte: Looking For Love, Etc On Tinder

Ah, Ryan Lochte.  A special, special young man with so much to offer. Lochte recently spoke to Cosmo.com ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio about getting himself some strange (JK, I’m sure he’s a total gentleman when it comes to dates). Lochte admitted that he has tried Bumble and Raya (the latter of which is a dating app for celebs and other VIPs), but neither tickled his fancy. “With Bumble, the girl always has to make the first [move], and I don’t really like that. I don’t think that’s a woman job. So I got off that,” he explained. “And then Raya, I don’t know. I’m living in Charlotte so that didn’t really work because most of the women you link up with are either in L.A. or New York. So I just recently got on Tinder.” Swipe right for love. “I heard it took off in Sochi [at the 2014 Winter Olympics] and then people were talking about it and I was like, ‘Let me try this.’  “So I got on it and I’ve been matching up with a bunch of gorgeous women who are smart, they have professional jobs and everything. I’m like, “Wow, this is perfect.’ “So I’ve been on Tinder lately. So far I haven’t had any dates or anything. I’ve just been talking with a couple [women].” What does a fella like Lochte look for in a woman?  “You can’t say, like, looks aren’t everything because, I mean, that’s the first thing that people see,” he admitted. “So you definitely see their picture and then you look at their bio and they tell you their job description. “I want someone that has goals and all that. Sometimes they post their Instagram name, and you can look at their Instagram and just see how they present themselves.” Let us all put forth good vibes for Lochte, so that he may win the gold medal in love.
