Source: Tristan Kallas/ Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency / Splash News Lawyer For Karen Civil Says Writer Never Served Lawsuit Remember the debacle last year when Canadian blogger @WannasWorld shared DM’s from Nicki Minaj ? Last week, reports surfaced from The Blast claiming “Wanna,” is suing Karen Civil, her website and CEO Christian Emiliano for defamation and seeking a whopping $1.5 million in damages. According to court documents obtained by The Blast: She says as she processed the events that unfolded with her and Minaj, she then turned her attention to the Live Civil group chat, where they requested she delete the Tweet. [She] says she immediately deleted the tweet per their request. Shortly after deleting the Tweet, she claims to have been cut out of the group chat. She claims they then told her she was no longer employed by Civil or any of her companies…. says they told her Minaj was a client of Civil’s other company. She claims the CEO, Christian Emiliano, then took to Twitter to go on a “public rant” about her. [She] claims he damaged her reputation with his comments and hurt her ability to get work. $1.5 million is a looooot of money to sue over an unpaid internship – isn’t it? But hold up, a lawyer for Karen Civil claims that his client hasn’t even been served with a lawsuit. BOSSIP received the following statement from Karen Civil’s Attorney Walter Mosley: We have not been served with any lawsuit so we can not respond to the specifics of this alleged case. However, my firm was hired to respond to defamation and character assault perpetrated by this young lady many months ago and it seems like her actions have persisted from reading this article. At this time we will reserve our rights to exercise the full extent of every available remedy both financial and/or filing for injunctive relief. We should also remind [her] that she is still under a comprehensive NDA w/ Karen Civil. Karen Civil is the CEO & Owner of all her companies & properties. Sooo is there a lawsuit or not? And if there is, does Thompson even have a case? BOSSIP saw communication between Wanna and Emiliano where Emiliano explicitly stated to his staff that the website has relationships with certain artists and brands through Always Civil and to “make sure any content or opinions on this platform and your own is always respectful and a priority. This includes: Nicki Minaj, Teyana Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Pharrell, Iman Shumpert, Lil Wayne, Nipsey Hussle, Lauren London, YG, Pusha T, and a few others. Understood?” to which Thompson replied, “Okay noted.” This also isn’t the first time Wanna has sought financial compensation over this issue. A GoFundMe seeking $2500 was posted ten months ago. As you can imagine, the Barbz are heating up for Wanna over the lawsuit claims already. you were fired by the company because you violated their social media policy while you were under their employment. all nicki did was drag you and post the dm. can you come up with something else? @WannasWorld — Kevin Thomas. Source: Peter Forest/Getty Images for OWN Bossip Be Trippin: Essence Fest 25 Hey beautiful people, it’s your wanderlusty buddy-pal Alejandro with another White Diamond-splashed Essence Fest adventure to recap. And yes, there are taupe kitten heels, bedazzled bodysuits, snazzy toe rings, stretchy floral fabrics, young aunties in polka dot hot pants and big Bluetooth energy (courtesy of Pop-Pop Frankie Beverly) sprinkled into this journey. Sounds amazing, I know, so let’s get into it. But first–I have to thank Ford for loaning me a 2019 Ford F-150 Limited (basically an Autobot) for the trip. I’ll call him Optimus Jr. and he’s simply incredible with the best fuel mileage of any new-age truck. I drove from Atlanta to NOLA (470 miles) without stopping for gas and STILL had 100 miles left to E. It’s absolutely life-changing (if you have an older vehicle like myself) with a planet-shaking sound system, dependable navigation interface, spacious interior (sooo much backseat space for luggage unlike most pickup trucks), MOONROOF, self-parallel parking (yes, you read that right) and buttery smooth leather seats. Source: Alex Ford/iOne This isn’t a commercial (I promise) but I told them I would let yall know how impressive the F-150 is. My only (small) complaint is the $69 is takes to fill up. STRESSFUL. But yea, I’m a fan and recommend you take one for a spin someday. Now, back to Essence Fest that attracted 1.7 billion people (I counted) to the (not) Big (enough) Easy this year for some good ‘ole fashioned day drinking shenanigans in wig-melting, eyebrow-sizzling heat. At one point, it was 104° outside but that didn’t stop anyone from attending an impressive array of events and brunches and lunches and dinners and pop-ups and soirées and kickbacks and meet & greets this year. There were SO MANY EVENTS. Almost too many. Source: Bill Clark / Getty Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost Was Part Of Racist Facebook Group This Yogi The Bear lookin’ broad has some nerve talkin’ s#!t about somebody. According to The Intercept , Carla Provost, chief of the Border Patrol, was quick to get her righteous indignation on when news broke that there was a racist Facebook group called “I’m 10-15” (10-15 is agency code for “aliens in custody”) for agents who wanted to spew their unfiltered hate toward immigrants seeking asylum in America. “These posts are completely inappropriate and contrary to the honor and integrity I see — and expect — from our agents day in and day out,” Provost said in a statement. “Any employees found to have violated our standards of conduct will be held accountable.” Thing is, Provost was/is full of s#!t because SHE was one of those employees who violated the standards and needs to be held accountable. She was named head of the agency in August 2018, three months later she left an innocuous comment in response to an agent questioning how she got such a high ranking position so fast. The obvious problem is that in her response she acted as if she knew nothing about this group that she was obviously a member of. Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, sent a letter to the DHS Inspector General’s office last week specifically requesting that investigators examine whether Provost and Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan knew about or had previously addressed the problem of government personnel posting “violent, racist, misogynistic comments and pictures” in the “I’m 10-15” group. “This is why I have requested a full investigation into this matter,” Thompson said in a statement to The Intercept, after being informed of Provost’s participation in the group. “We need to know who in CBP leadership knew about these deplorable groups, when did they find out, and what action they took, if anything.” Provost and anyone else in this group needs to be fired, but we won’t hold out breath…
Source: Mikhail Tereshchenko / Getty Dunkin’ Donuts Worker Made Up A Fake Employee To Collect Their Paychecks A Dunkin’ Donuts manager in Florida was arrested for allegedly hiring an employee that didn’t exist and then pocketing all of the checks that fake worker received, according to reports from WFLA . 29-year-old Markia Nelson, who works at the franchise’s Largo location, hired the fake employee on May 15. From May 16 up until this past Saturday in July, Nelson was keeping up the image that the employee was showing up for work every day — clocking in and out for them and logging a total of 235 hours, according to an arrest report obtained by the outlet. The “employee” earned $8.65 an hour and brought in total of $1,610.84 over the past couple of months. Nelson direct deposited all of the funds into her account, admitting that she used the extra money for her “life expenses.” The company that owns the franchise location was tipped off to the scam and ended up launchinf its own investigation, according to reports from FOX 13 . Once word of the scam reached the Pinellas Park Police Department, it was pretty much an open-and-shut case. Nelson ended up being arrested on Monday. “The employee never actually showed up to do any work, and when they researched the employee’s clock-in and clock-out times, they saw that it was her inputting it each time,” Pinellas Park police Sgt. Lonnie Lancto told the outlet. Nelson has so far only been charged with grand theft, but could face other charges, including identity theft. “She had the information [for the phony worker] who she said … was a friend of hers, so the information for the person was an actual person,” the sergeant told the outlet.
On the surface, MTV’s Ex on the Beach is just another anonymous reality show in which scantily-clad twentysomethings down fishbowl-sized cocktails and compete to exchange fluids. And it might have gone down in flames alongside the disaster known as Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club , were it not for the producers’ brilliant idea of casting already-established nutjobs from previous series. Teen Mom has-been Farrah Abraham spiced up the first season with her unique blend of nonsensical word salad and porn star chicanery. And now, the similarly-psychotic Aubrey O’Day is being trotted out to spice up season 2: You might remember Aubrey from her role on Making the Band or as the ex-girlfriend of Jersey Shore ‘s Pauly D . But O’Day’s most recent tabloid headlines have to do with her affair with Donald Trump Jr. The president’s large adult son slept with O’Day several times while he was still married to Vanessa Trump. Don Jr. and Vanessa got divorced back in February, but Young Donald wasn’t single for long. He began dating Fox News anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle before the ink was dry on his divorce papers. And in case you were one of the very few people who wondered exactly what Aubrey thought about all of this, fear not! Because we’re alive during the weirdest time in human history, you’re about to learn new details about the president’s son’s love life from an MTV reality show! According to a new report from TMZ, O’Day will talk about Don Jr. a lot during the upcoming season of Ex . And we’re guessing she didn’t need much coaxing in that direction, as DTJ seems to be her favorite topic of discussion! TMZ sources who have viewed footage from upcoming episodes say Aubrey sounds off on all things Trump whenever she’s given the opportunity. Apparently, she describes Don Jr. as her “soul mate,” and she bashes Guilfoyle as “crazy-looking.” At one point, Aubrey even begs Don Jr. to dump Guilfoyle so that the two of them can get back together. Something tells us that won’t be happening anytime soon. For one thing, Guilfoyle has the presidential seal of approval, and it’s been rumored that she and Lil Donnie are quite serious these days. On top of that, Vanessa Trump was pregnant during Don’s time with Aubrey, so you can bet he won’t be re-opening that scandalous chapter from his past with an election fast approaching. But hey, if you believe Aubrey, the Trump political dynasty will soon be coming to an end regardless. “The White House fiasco is about to be over,” she reportedly told MTV. Maybe Aubrey knows something we don’t. Or maybe she’s just planning to transition into a career political pundit once the reality gigs dry up! It’s rare that a week goes by without Jessa Duggar getting mom-shamed for some behavior or belief that her Instagram followers don’t agree with. But it’s just as rare for Jessa to take this much flak in the span of just a few days. Earlier this week, Jessa was criticized for denying her daughter a pacifier. Many of her followers felt that this was an unnecessarily cruel restriction which did not serve to benefit the child in any way. Yes, it’s only been 8 weeks since Jessa welcomed her third child , and that’s the sort of backlash she’s forced to contend with already. We suppose it’s not hard to see why she’s not taking it lying down. “I always nurse my babies on demand, so she has constant access to the ‘pacifier’ God designed,” Jessa responded when a follower asked why she’s so opposed to pacifiers. “I am her pacifier,” Jessa added. “I prefer it that way too … Nursing isn’t only for food, but for comfort and Mama’s closeness.” Eh … not all that wacky an explanation by Duggar standards, and “God’s pacifiers” is a hilarious way to refer to boobs, so we’ll allow it. Besides, we have new and equally weird Jessa parenting controversies to move on to. As you may know, the Duggars are very, very big on disciplining their children. And this means not only are the kids punished at a young age (sometimes with such controversial techniques as ” blanket training “), they also start helping out around the house at a very young age. Which explains why Jessa’s eldest — 3-year-old Spurgeon — is already working a vacuum cleaner: Spurgeon Seewald Does Chores The Duggars have taken flak for their perceived unwillingness to let kids be kids, which may explain why Jessa decided to get in front of that criticism by posting a lengthy explanation for the video above: “There’s a window of time in the toddler years where little ones become eager to help,” she wrote. “It’s so sweet to watch their excitement as they are allowed to take part in meaningful tasks— not pretend ‘helping,’ but really doing something that helps out the whole family,” she added. “Playing together is fun, but even the cleanup can be fun if we do it together. There’s a sense of importance and belonging and being needed.” Jessa went on to explain that she doesn’t encourage her kids to help because it saves her time in effort — in fact, she claims the reverse is true: “Sometimes as a mom I have to pause and remember this,” she stated. “Yes, it may take 5x longer than if I did it myself, but they find it exciting to help out and lend a hand,” Jessa continued. “We definitely need to encourage this and not squelch the excitement. “My mom modeled this beautifully. ‘There’s a window of time where they’re eager to help. Capture it. Don’t squelch it.’” Must be quite an honor for Michelle Duggar to receive such a loving tribute from her daughter. Of course, Michelle was such a strict disciplinarian that it’s possible Jessa is still afraid of her! In any event, you can expect the Spurgeon vacuum video to kick off a new Duggar parenting controversy sometime this afternoon. View Slideshow: Ivy Jane Seewald: See ALL Her Precious Photos!
It’s been four years since the world learned that Josh Duggar molested five young girls while he was still in his teens. The revelation of the crime — along with the fact that four of Josh’s victims were his sisters — sparked widespread outrage and calls for TLC to cut ties with the family. At first, the boycott threats appeared to be effective. TLC canceled 19 Kids and Counting , which at the time was the bedrock of the Duggars’ media empire. But remarkably, the family managed to make a comeback, and within a year, the entire Duggar clan — sans Josh, of course — had returned to the network that made them famous with the 19 Kids spinoff Counting On. Most celebrities in a similar position would have been eager to sweep the entire incident under the carpet — but not the Duggars. No, from the very start, the Duggars have made it clear that they intend to seek revenge on the legal authorities and media outlets who they feel are responsible for Josh’s sex scandal. Josh Duggar has filed suit against Springdale, Arkansas police department for releasing information regarding the case, as well as against In Touch Weekly for being the first to publish that information. All of his claims have been thrown out of court, and a judge recently ordered Josh to stop filing lawsuits . But the judge did not issue a similar command to Josh’s victims. Yes, from the very start, the Duggars have maintained a united front with regard to Josh’s sex crimes, and four of his sisters — Jill Duggar Dillard, Jessa Duggar Seewald, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, and Joy Duggar — have now filed a suit accusing In Touch of violating their privacy. Today, those sisters scored a major legal victory when a judge threw out the opposing counsel’s motion to have their case dismissed. While the tabloid’s coverage of the crimes never mentioned the sisters by name, the judge stated today that In Touch did publish “other identifying information,” which would make it possible for interested parties to determine the identities of four of the five victims. “The content and circumstances of these disclosures do not just meet the standard of ‘shockingly degrading or egregiously humiliating,’ they illustrate them,” the judge wrote. With this legal hurdle cleared, it’s now far more likely that In Touch will offer the Duggars a cash settlement. So while the suit was not filed by Josh, it now looks as though the man who launched this scandal will finally receive the revenge he’s been seeking. We’ll continue to update you on this developing story as more information becomes available. View Slideshow: Josh Duggar Sex Scandal Timeline: How His Family’s Empire Crumbled
