Must Be Nice: Mariah Carey Flosses THIS $500K Gift From Her Billionaire Boo Thang…

A necklace… James Packer Gives Mariah Carey A $500,000 Necklace Billionaire James Packer is apparently enamored with Mariah Carey, so much so that he gifted his songstress girlfriend with a $500,00 necklace. The Daily Mail reports: The 45-year-old singer once again wore the half-million dollar yellow diamond heart pendant gifted to her by her billionaire boyfriend James Packer. Mariah doesn’t not seem to have stopped smiling since she first hooked up with the Australian businessman. And on Thursday her grin certainly didn’t dissipate when she posted a picture of herself to Instagram wearing the 18-karat bling. The 47-year-old gave it to her just before she took to the stage for her performance at Caesars Palace Colosseum on Wednesday night. She was so delighted she even dedicated her hit song Hero to her beau during the gig. ‘I have a new heart tonight,’ she told the crowd as they whooped and cheered. ‘James is in my heart tonight.’ On Saturday night the diva hit the Disick-hosted party at 1OAK without her man – but with his gift still holding pride of place very close to her heart. Must be nice. What do YOU think about James Packer’s gift to Mariah??? Hit the flip for more photos of her wearing her new necklace.

Hi Hater: Jeb Bush Says #BlackLivesMatter Movement Doesn’t Matter Because It’s Just A Slogan

Jeb Bush Says Black Lives Matters Movement Is Just A Slogan Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush dismissed the Black Lives Matter movement and its eponymous chant as a political “slogan” Thursday, and said potential Democratic rival and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley should not have apologized for saying “white lives matter” during a protest last weekend at Netroots Nation. Via MSNBC : “If he believes that white lives matter, which I hope he does, then he shouldn’t apologize to a group that seems to disagree with it,” the Republican presidential candidate told reporters Thursday at a town hall in New Hampshire. The Black Lives Matter movement, sparked largely in response to recent killings of unarmed African-Americans by white police officers, shook up the presidential election this week following a surprise protest at the annual Netroots Nation conference in Phoenix, Arizona. On Saturday, the progressive gathering was interrupted when black activists took the stage during a presidential candidate forum, forcing O’Malley and fellow White House hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont into uncomfortable territory as they struggled to respond to questions on race relations and police violence. O’Malley came under fire for adding “white lives matter, all lives matter” to the protesters’ calls – a statement he has since apologized for. But Bush said Thursday that O’Malley had nothing to be sorry about. “I mean, we’re so uptight and so politically correct now that we apologize for saying ‘lives matter?’” Bush said. “Life is precious, it’s a gift from God. I frankly think that it’s one of the most important values that we have. I know in the political context, it’s a slogan, I guess. And should he have apologized? No.” Earlier in the day, Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – who skipped this year’s Netroots and was, therefore, spared from the ambush – attempted to soar where her rivals had floundered on the issue and spoke at length about racial justice. Addressing a packed church in South Carolina, where an apparent hate crime recently left nine African-American parishioners dead, Clinton said: “It is essential that we all stand up and say loudly and clearly, ‘Yes, black lives matter.’” Discuss… YT

Dennis Rodman Says Black Celebs Should Support Hulk Hogan The Worm says the Black celebrity community should be supporting wrestler Hulk Hogan after his racist ‘n-word’ filled rant was made public…. Via Fox News : NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, who has courted controversy over his friendship with North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un, says Hulk Hogan is no racist. Rodman came to Hogan’s defense after the WWE terminated its contract with the wrestling legend following the release of a leaked court document showing he used the N-word on a sex tape. “I’ve known @HulkHogan for 25 years,” Rodman tweeted, according to the Daily News. “… There isn’t a racist bone in that mans body.” “Lets lend our support to the Hulkster @HulkHogan who most certainly is not a racist,” Rodman tweeted at Scottie Pippen, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Mike Tyson. Feds Announce New Tools To Help Black Students Thrive In The Classroom

Parental Checklist, Student Bill Of Rights Among New Resources To Support Parents And Students As millions of children prepare to head back to school, the feds announced new tools to help African-American students excel in the classroom. A new parental checklist is a framework that moms and dads, mentors and teachers can use to improve African-American student performance and help close the so-called “achievement gap” between black students and their white peers. “Our hope is that these tools support black families,” said David Johns, the executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, “and all caring and concerned individuals who should be engaged in the work of supporting our children, our communities and our country, to ensure that excellence for all is not a goal, but something that is required and a prerequisite for how we do business.” Using input from advocacy groups like the National Urban League, America Achieves and the United Negro College Fund, the U.S. Department of Education’s checklist includes questions parents can ask, like how educators will keep them informed on their child’s performance, how parents and teachers will make sure their child’s school is a safe, inclusive and supportive place and how educators and parents can work together if the child falls behind. Also released was a student bill of rights, a guide to what parents and students should expect in education: access to high quality pre-school, elementary and secondary schools, as well as universities and community colleges. African-Americans have historically lagged behind their white peers when it comes to overall student achievement. Black students are less likely to go to pre-school, and more likely to attend high poverty schools and drop out of high school, according to data from the U.S. Department of Education.

A “Lil Positivity”: Young Jeezy Sends Message To Fans And Defends “Trap Music” Against Negative Criticism

Young Jeezy Defends Trap Music’s Negative Connotation Against Critics As Atlanta prepares to “Go Crazy” at Young Jeezy’s TM101 10th anniversary concert, the Snowman took to Instagram to speak to his fans, reflecting on his career, and also play a lil’ defense against his detractors who label his now-ubiquitous “trap music” a glorification of drug dealing and violence. They say you have your whole life to make your first album, and they might be right. Some call it poetry, others call it the ghetto gospel, but the industry calls it “trap music.” Go figure. Either way it’s the voice of the streets, and we all know that when the streets talk, we listen. I find it odd when people use a negative connotation like “trap music,” when the message (lyrics) clearly states: make it out of your surroundings and be the best man and provider you can be. We call that being a boss where I’m from — a self made individual that refuses to let his environment dictate his or her outcome in life. This body of work you see before you is just that. Every experience, every up, down and close call. All the nights that you prayed you could make it to see another day. All the sacrifices you made for friends and loved ones you lost to the street life. I can’t help but to think of all the obstacles I had to dodge and the times I was unsure. But I continued to keep my faith and hustle strong. I kept pushing! When I said that the roaches were in the kitchen, I meant that! So now when I tell you the floors look like bowling balls, I mean that too. You can call it rags to riches, but I like to call it a boy becoming a man and believing in his dreams, goals and expectations. I never thought of “fame” or being accepted in this industry; my only thoughts were to represent and speak for every man, woman and child that was in the struggle and just wanted to make a better way of life, without taking no for an answer. With every song, verse and adlib on this body of work, you can hear that determination, that ambition and that drive in every word. If the album touched you in any way, just know that it was all for you. I’d like to thank my fans and anybody that was a part of my journey. Here I am, 10 years later, doing what I love –motivating the people. Are you motivated by Jeezy’s soliloquy? Do you find the positive and redeeming qualities in his music? If the answer is “no”, you should come to Atlanta for his TM101 show on Saturday night and see the result of his motivational speech in person. Image via Def Jam/Instagram
