John Nash And Wife Killed In Car Crash US mathematician John Nash, who inspired the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, has died in a car crash with his wife, police have said. Via BBC : Nash, 86, and his 82-year-old wife Alicia were killed when their taxi crashed in New Jersey, they said. The mathematician is renowned for his work in game theory, winning the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994. His breakthroughs in maths – and his struggles with schizophrenia – were the focus of the 2001 film. Russell Crowe, who played him, tweeted: “Stunned… My heart goes out to John & Alicia & family. An amazing partnership. Beautiful minds, beautiful hearts.” The film’s director, Ron Howard, also tweeted his tribute to the “brilliant” John Nash and his “remarkable” wife. Alicia Nash helped care for her husband, and the two later became prominent mental health advocates. The two were thrown from their vehicle, police said. Media reports said the couple may not have been wearing seatbelts when they crashed. Their taxi driver, and a passenger in another car, were also injured. Rest in peace to this beautiful mind and his wife!

He was definitely the youngest this year.” This summer he plans to take a Calculus II course. Clap for ’em. Image via YouTube
We’re sad to share the loss of another legend. According to Rolling Stone reports: Louis Johnson, founding member of funk band the Brothers Johnson and an in-demand bassist who appeared on Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” died on Thursday, May 21st. He was 60. Johnson’s nephew Troy confirmed his death to Rolling Stone, though a cause of death has yet to be revealed. “I’ve never been given parts to play in my whole life. I’m the most rare bass player in the whole world,” Johnson told Rolling Stone contributing writer Steve Knopper in 2013 for the upcoming book MJ: The Genius of Michael Jackson . “No one ever gave me music paper to read; no one ever gave me anything to read. They tell me, ‘Here’s a track, play what you want.’” The Los Angeles-based Brothers Johnson, a group featuring Louis and his brother George, got their start backing up Quincy Jones before releasing their acclaimed, Jones-produced debut LP Look Out for #1 in 1976. Over the next five years, the Brothers Johnson racked up three Number One hits on the R&B charts: 1976’s “I’ll Be Good to You,” their 1977 cover of Shuggie Otis’ “Strawberry Letter 23,” and 1980’s smash “Stomp!” (Their rendition of “Strawberry Letter 23″ was later featured prominently in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown .) The Brothers Johnson’s 1980 album Light Up the Night , featuring “This Had to Be” co-written by Michael Jackson and featuring the King of Pop on background vocals, ascended to the top of the R&B album charts. After the brothers parted ways in the early Eighties to pursue solo careers, Louis became known for his bass-playing prowess, emerging as a prolific, in-demand session musician. Johnson served as the primary bassist on Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall and later lent his skills to Jackson’s Thriller (“Billie Jean,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” “P.Y.T.”), Paul McCartney’s Give My Regards to Broad Street soundtrack and the all-star “We Are the World” collaboration. Johnson is also credited with creating the bass line from Michael McDonald’s hit version of Leiber & Stoller’s “I Keep Forgettin’,” a melody that was later sampled by Warren G and Nate Dogg for “Regulate.” Over his long career, Johnson also worked with Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Herb Alpert and George Benson. “I had access to all musicians and artists, from Barbra Streisand to Paul McCartney to Michael Jackson,” Johnson told Rolling Stone . “It was like an open door. The Lord blessed me with that — I prayed to God and my prayer he answered. He said, ‘OK, you got the whole world now.’ Every time I’d get in the car to go somewhere, I’d hear me playing the bass… I was all over the place. I released the funk on everybody.” As news of Johnson’s death spread, hip-hop artists, funk legends and bassists inspired by “Thunder Thumbs” showed love on social media. “Thank you for blessing me and the world with your original #funk. RIP,” Lenny Kravitz tweeted , while Bootsy Collins added , “Another Brick in our music foundation has left the building. Mr. ‘Louis Johnson.’” Slave’s Steve Arrington wrote , “Just heard the great bass player and song writer Louis Johnson has passed away. Awe man….Going to miss U Thunder Thumbs.” My Morning Jacket bassist Tom Blankenship and the Roots’ Questlove wrote similar tributes to Johnson. Wow. What a huge loss for music. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. We are so thankful for the amazing legacy he leaves behind.

ABC News Reports: A woman was found in a Maryland park pushing her dead toddler in a swing, and authorities say she may have been there all night. Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday that police found the unidentified woman in a park with her dead 3-year-old son in the town of La Plata after receiving a call early Friday morning. The release said officers saw right away that the toddler was dead, and that his body showed no signs of trauma. The sheriff’s office says the child’s body was taken to a medical examiner for an autopsy and the mother was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation. La Plata, a town of about 8,700 people, is located about 30 miles southeast of D.C. So sad! She sounds like she may have lost it after he died. Shutterstock

Joe Morrissey Promises To Marry Teenage Black Baby Mama Former Del. Joe Morrissey promised Thursday to marry the mother of his latest child , which would cement a relationship that got him tossed into the jail cell that served as his nightly home during the last legislative session. Via Daily Press : Morrissey, 57, held a joint press conference with 19-year-old Myrna Pride Thursday to correct, he said, misinformation floating about their relationship and his fitness as a father. He confirmed that he has four children by four women. Two of the children are adults, one a young child and the latest a two-and-a-half-month old named Chase, he said. Any talk of him not being involved in his younger children’s lives is false, Morrissey said. With Pride seated next to him and Chase in another room at Morrissey’s office the long-time – and once disbarred – criminal attorney known as “Fightin’ Joe” said the three live together in downtown Richmond. When Chase cries out at night, it is most often Morrissey who gets up, they said. In the mornings, he wakes first for diaper changes. Morrissey also re-confirmed his plans to run for the state Senate as an independent, where he hopes to take down Richmond-area state Sen. Rosalyn Dance. Morrissey resigned his House seat twice over the last six months; first in December, when he took an Alford plea on a misdemeanor charge stemming from an accusation that he had sex with Pride before her 18th birthday. The politician’s young girlfriend denied smashing the senate hopeful before she was of age. Where is Tyga!? Pride called him “Mr. Morrissey” Wednesday as she denied having sex before she became a legal adult. From the beginning, Morrissey has said explicit pictures law enforcement found on his phone were hacked there. He said Wednesday that the relationship blossomed from friendship to intimacy while Pride worked at his law office, but not before she turned 18. Morrissey won his resigned seat back during a pre-session special election, but was shunned by colleagues, kicked out of the House Democratic caucus and stripped of all committee assignments. He resigned again in March to make this Senate run, initially as a Democrat. Party officials denied him ballot access after the local registrar declared some 750 signatures he collected for the run invalid, putting him 28 short of the 250 he needed.
