Denee Baptiste Sits For Intimate Interview With Cleo Speaks In a new episode of Cleo Speaks , due later this month, Beyoncé ‘s choreographer Denee Baptiste sits for a very candid interview. “Known for her stage work with Beyoncé, Denee Baptiste shares her journey as a mother, performer, dancer, motivational speaker and passion for inspiring young dancers to follow their dreams,” a press release states. Baptiste also talks about how “hidden colorism” in the entertainment industry affected her as a kid and as she came up in the dance community. “Growing up it was very hard because I wasn’t typically the ‘pretty girl’,” she says in a sneak peek. “That came up a lot as I was going through the industry. I was very skinny, I was the darkest person sometimes auditioning, I wasn’t wearing weave, I wasn’t wearing a lot of makeup. I was going in very natural, very bare, and people were like ‘no.’” Watch her speak in the clip up top, then tune into CLEO TV on April 24 at 2:30 p.m. ET for the full episode.

Just two weeks after he was murdered at his Marathon clothing store, Nipsey Hussle’s being remembered at a local school. Administrators at Crete Academy Charter school revealed a HUGE mural painted across their basketball court of the late rapper. Crete Academy is located in Crenshaw and just blocks away from where Nipsey was gunned down. “For our kids to look at Nipsey and see to see everything he’s done, what he was able to accomplish and how much he gave back to the community is huge for them…because he looks like them,” said Crete Academy Founder Hattie Mitchell to CBS LA. “He grew up where they grew up. He’s the epitome of everything that they want to be and aspire to be.” The mural was done by artist Gustavo Zermeno and the idea of Venice Basketball League CEO Nick Ansom. Ansom and the rapper were in talks about developing a community project before his passing. Nipsey’s family the Asghedons were in attendance for the unveiling. Police say the incident is being flagged to the district attorney as a possible hate crime. https://t.co/lQB0DY5gQq pic.twitter.com/W5HNMkFMC0 — ABC News (@ABC) April 15, 2019 Man Arrested In Texas For Beating Transgender Woman A hate crime investigation is underway after authorities say a man brutally beat a transgender woman while hurling homophobic slurs. Muhlaysia Booker’s family identified her as a woman seen in a video being pummeled by a man after a minor traffic accident. The Dallas News reports that Edward Thomas, 29, was arrested Sunday in connection with the assault that was recorded on video. He faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Authorities say Muhlaysia accidentally backed into another vehicle Saturday and the other driver, who is named as a suspect in the arrest-warrant affidavit but who has not been arrested, ran her off the road to keep her from fleeing. The woman says the other driver pointed a gun at her and refused to let her leave unless she paid for the damage, according to the affidavit. A crowd that included Edward Thomas then gathered and “a voice on the video” offered Thomas $200 to beat Muhlaysia. The suspect then put on gloves to accept the offer and punched Muhlaysia several times while people watched. Another suspect jumped in and stomped on the woman. Muhlaysia was transported to a local hospital. She suffered facial fractures and a broken wrist. UPDATE: Muhlaysia Booker’s family tells me she’s home from the hospital continuing to recover. They say she’s got a broken wrist and several facial fractures. They’re still hoping hate crime charges will be pursued after the Oak Cliff assault. https://t.co/BP73lDNIVY @NBCDFW pic.twitter.com/5KAh1pRPtl — Allie Spillyards (@AllieSpillyards) April 14, 2019 Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings released a statement on the assault saying; “Chief Hall alerted me this morning to the assault at the Royal Crest Apartments and I have seen a video of what happened. I am extremely angry about what appears to be mob violence against this woman. I am in contact with the chief and she assured me that the Dallas Police Department is fully investigating, including the possibility that this was a hate crime. Those who did this do not represent how Dallasites feel about our thriving LGBTQ community. We will not stand for this kind of behavior.” Thomas remains in the Dallas County jail with his bail set at $75,000. We sincerely hope Muhlaysia and her family get the justice they deserve. It’s obvious that several other people need to be arrested for their involvement.

It’s no secret that NeNe and Gregg’s marriage has hit a rough patch as Gregg continues to battle stage 3 colon cancer. And on Sunday, the couple told Andy that they’re sleeping in separate bedrooms and seeing a counselor. Andy also asked Gregg how he felt about NeNe revealing that he was previously unfaithful. Andy: “Do you wish that she had not revealed that you had cheated?” Gregg: “That was so long ago that that really just didn’t have any weight, the hurt from that got removed from me a long time ago.” Andy: “Maybe it didn’t get removed from you (NeNe)?” NeNe: “Maybe.” According to NeNe, 51, she’s still unsure if she wants to save the union she shares with Gregg, 63, who’s apparently been “mean and nasty” while she works as his caretaker. “I can’t tell you anything that I’m going to do,” said NeNe. I feel like I have been pushed up against a wall and I’m coming out as ‘no.’ … Anything is possible, we just have to see.” The Leakes married in 1997, divorced in 2011 and remarried on that “I Dream Of NeNe” Bravo special in 2013.
