This Is How Michelle Timberlake-Jackson Found Her Niche In The $100 Million Beef Jerky Industry

…African-American entrepreneur Michelle Timberlake-Jackson is taking a bite out of the industry. Her 25-year-old Marjorie’s Beef Jerky Inc. produces a selection of beef jerky made from fine cuts of beef. Marjorie’s Beef Jerky Inc. markets, distributes, and sells a beef jerky brand that features six flavors (Original, Hot & Spicy, Sweet & Spicy, Cracked Pepper, Teriyaki and Burnout). The products are also MSG free and are made only with natural ingredients. When Timberlake started her company in 1991 she was (and still is) an 18-wheeler truck driver. Unfortunately she was in a major truck driving accident in 1991 and, concerned about her financial future, she decided to start a beef jerky company, named after her late mother Marjorie Leona Dawson. “My mother was my number one beef jerky fan. In 2010, she told me, ‘Michelle it’s time for you to put your beef jerky through. It is going to make you,’” Timberlake-Jackson told the New Pittsburgh Courier… [ MadameNoire ] Sisters Launch Online Service That Brings The Hair Salon To You …Sisters Abigail and Antonia Opiah… figured out that instead of trucking to a shop, women would love to have the salon come to them; so they created an online service called Yeluchi where professional hairstylists and beauty experts come straight to your home. Yeluchi is a natural extension for the entrepreneurial sisters who already founded the successful Black hair care site, Un-Ruly. “Over the years, in building Un-Ruly and talking about Black hairstyles and care, we’ve learned a great deal about our own hair needs and what other Black women need when it comes to their hair,” Antonia told Atlanta Black Star. “What kinds of questions they’re asking, when they can do their hair themselves and when they need an expert to jump in. Yeluchi, our at-home hair styling service, is an accumulation of everything we’ve learned so far.” [ MadameNoire ] Kanye West Delivers Free adidas Yeezys To Paparazzi As Promised Kanye West is a man of his word. The Black Female Iron Man Has Been Around For 5 Seconds And She’s Already Being Whitewashed

We told you late last week that Marvel is changing the game by introducing Riri Williams as the new Iron Man (i.e., the protégée of Tony Stark). The addition of Williams is one of the many changes Marvel Comics has made to diversify their superheroes, including having an Afro-Latino Spider-Man, a woman as Thor, and an Asian-American Hulk. Even if you’re not a comic book fan, the news of a Black and beautiful woman playing the popular Iron Man character, one with darker skin and the fiercest ‘fro this side of the Mississippi, should excite you. So why are the people being thrown out there as prospects to play Riri — if she were to ever receive cinematic treatment — look nothing like the character? I mean, c’mon. It’s literally been five seconds since she was introduced and she’s already being whitewashed… Granted, I love Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Zendaya Coleman, Amandla Stenberg and Kiersey Clemons, but no. According To This Dating Site, Single Moms Are Finding Love Faster Than The Average Dater

This may explain why a recent survey conducted by online dating site Plenty of Fish found that single mothers are finding partners 10 percent faster than the average user. While researchers did not offer any potential theories as to why they believe that their female members with children are swiftly connecting with Mr. Right, it seems that moms have a lot less time to waste than the average dater, which means that they’re less likely to spend time going on dates and communicating with people with whom they see no future. And speaking of time, more than 50 percent of moms expressed that they prefer online dating to dating the old-fashioned way because it allows them to spend more time with their children. It’s also quite convenient. More than 60 percent of moms reported being active on the dating site whenever they found a spare second between juggling the rest of their responsibilities… [ MadameNoire ] African Union Says Haiti Not African Enough To Have Membership …Black folks from across the diaspora celebrated reports that the small island nation would possibly be inducted as the 55th country to join the African Union. There have been many attempts to try and explain why this is. Increased suicide attempts are blamed on many things. From inflammation due to an uptick in pollen in the air, which releases anxiety-producing chemicals (this finding still isn’t necessarily proven, but cited as a “provocative” finding), to researchers suggesting that the sunshine triggers suicidal thoughts, and a possible prominent reason cited is the increase in social interactions come spring.
