Which Piece Of Gym Equipment Has 362 Times More Germs Than A Toilet?

…The website Fitrated.com enlisted EmLab P&K to swab almost 30 pieces of equipment at three different gym facilities that are national chains in an effort to find out just how many germs our go-to gear really holds. What they found was, just as you thought, you should probably wipe down the equipment before you use it due to an abundance of gram-positive cocci and other serious bacteria. Treadmills at the three facilities they checked out had 74 times more bacteria than a public water faucet does. That exercise bike people sit on for extended periods of time? Thirty-nine times more bacteria than the reusable plastic cafeteria lunch trays. But the dirtiest equipment of all? The free weights. They have 362 times more bacteria than the toilet you sit your behind on… [ MadameNoire ] Study: Most Couples Use Smartphones For Wedding Planning …According to results from The Knot’s 2015 Real Weddings Survey, mobile wedding planning is on the rise. School Blues: Is Your Child Being Treated And Graded Fairly?

After a particularly frustrating week with some the teaching staff at my son’s school, I happened to stumble upon a short video titled “The System of Racial Inequality.” In this just over 60 second soundbyte, a white woman, Tilman Smith, who has experience in the education system, pretty much confirmed my greatest concern with a certain race of teacher and my son. Her brief dialogue was alarming when describing the way white teachers tend to judge children based simply on race of school-aged black boys in particular. Smith gave an example and explained how white teachers would think highly of an “animated and cheeky” white boy in the class, label him “smart” and would all but dismiss his behavior because, “boys will be boys.” On the other hand, however, if a black child in the class displayed the same behavior she wouldn’t be so quick to think his “animated and cheeky” demeanor is smart but instead would raise an eyebrow and take mental note that, “I might need to keep an eye on him…” [ MadameNoire ] Would You Get A Tattoo At Whole Foods? Experts Expose Worst Interview Behavior: “I Had Someone Show Up Braless… They Needed One”

It takes more than a sparkling resume to land a job. While that may be what gets you in the door, it’s the interview that can make or break you. But there are still more than a few things that job seekers continue to do that take them out of the running. First, it’s important to remember interviews are initially all about appearance–physically and communication-wise. You want to appear confident and professional, but one thing you must be clear not to do is reek of desperation, even if you desperately need the job. “You may be at the end of your rope with regard to your finances…but that attitude of desperation should not show in the interview,” warned career success coach and leadership development consultant Gia Ganesh. “Nodding along for everything and trying hard to please the interviewer are clear indicators of your desperation. Guess Which State? Man Busted For Bigamy After 3rd Wife Changed Her Name To Mrs. Rembert

Florida Man Arrested For Marrying Three Women Facebook gets ‘em every time ! A Florida man named Steven Rembert was caught MARRYING another woman behind his second wife , Frances Rembert’s back after Takesha Stephens, a woman she’d once treated like her daughter, changed her name on Facebook to Mrs. Rembert. According to Orlando Sentinel reports, it all started to go downhill for the 43-year-old Mr. Rembert when his second wife alerted deputies to the situation: Orange County deputies started looking into the claims and realized that it wasn’t the first time Rembert had started a new marriage without legally ending the previous one. He married three times in Orange County during the past 15 years. In March 2006, he married Evondria Marshay Bryan-Rembert, records state. About five years later in May 2011, he married Frances Rembert. Nearly five years after that, records show he married Takesha Stephens. Deputies said there is no record of Rembert ever divorcing either of the first two women. Frances Rembert told deputies she and her husband split in April after she fell ill and was hospitalized for an unknown amount of time. When she returned home, Rembert wasn’t as friendly or caring toward her, so she moved out, the arrest report states. Not long after that, she said she found out Rembert had started dating Stephens, who was known to their family and lived with them for years. The 27-year-old was treated “as though she was their daughter,” the report states. Frances Rembert didn’t say anything about their relationship until a friend pointed out that Stephens had changed her name on Facebook to “Mrs. Rembert.” Deputies on Wednesday arrested Rembert, who has been a registered sex offender since 2000 after being convicted by the U.S. military on charges of sodomy and sex with a child under 16 years old, records show. Rembert has since posted bail… We are so confused about how this man got one woman to marry him, much less THREE!!! He’s a registered sex offender who ain’t exactly easy on the eyes from the looks of the mugshot. Orange County Jail

All That Positive Thinking You’re Doing Is Making You More Depressed

…For many, thinking positive is an optimistic mindset sustained by positive affirmations and the general attitude that everything happens for a reason, even if that thing isn’t particularly pleasant. For others, positive thinking is a fantasy land of unrealistic goals and desires, often not backed by any real action, and it’s that type of thinking that can make you even more depressed about your current state of affairs, so says research recently published in Psychological Science. In four different studies, researchers had participants from school-aged children to adults fantasize about some aspect of the future and measured their state of mind at the time of the thinking and in a later meeting. Immediately, positive thinking about some sort of fantasy in the future relieved symptoms of depression, but in follow-up sessions the participants were actually more depressed. Gabriele Oettingen, PhD, lead author of the study, said the reason is: “These positive fantasies relax us and de-energize us. We feel accomplished in the fantasized-about future, so we don’t actually put in the work needed to achieve that future….” [ MadameNoire ] Booking A Trip? North Carolina A&T’s Black Women’s Swim Team That Went Viral For Defying Stereotypes Is Losing Their Program

…The women were celebrated by many, primarily for the fact that these young college students, these beautiful Black women, defy the stereotypes and statistics about Black people not being able to swim, as well as stereotypes that Black women won’t mess with the water because of their hair concerns…. I was sad to see stories out of North Carolina about their program being on the rocks. A team that exemplifies such a positive image and message has literally been recommended for ousting time and time again. And according to head coach Shawn Hendrix, who has been with North Carolina A&T as the women’s swimming coach for 17 years, their 2015-2016 season really will, unfortunately, be their last. They will continue to swim until the end of February. “We actually announced three years ago that the program was going to be discontinued,” Hendrix said. “So this is the actual last year. Study: Diversity Training Makes White Men Feel Threatened

Diversity training is a term we heard quite a bit in 2015; however, a new article published by the Harvard Business Review suggests that these programs may be doing more harm than good. For starters, a study of over 700 companies in the United States found that implementing these training programs had little to no positive effects on female and minority representation. Even worse, they may even decrease representation of Black women. The study also found that these programs tend to make white men resentful of women and minorities. “We found evidence that it not only makes white men believe that women and minorities are being treated fairly—whether that’s true or not—it also makes them more likely to believe that they themselves are being treated unfairly,” authors of the report explained… [ MadameNoire ] Organizing For The New Year With P-Touch Marie Kondo’s best-selling The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up has sparked an organizing revolution with millions of Americans expected to resolve to get more organized in 2016.
