It’s safe to assume no one would pay for the rights to the Kim Kardashian music video . Seriously, that thing is a joke. But Vivid Entertainment Chairman Steve Hirsch has confirmed to TMZ that, yes, a mysterious buyer is trying to remove the Kim Kardashian sex tape from the open market. Would he give the video up, like Kim gave up her precious flower to Ray J and then acted like it wasn’t a PR ploy all along? Yes, for a high price. “Based on its long term value, it looks like $30 million would be a starting point for a discussion on all of the rights,” Hirsch told the site, adding that he has “no idea” if Kim is behind the offer, like Ray J was behind her, thrusting, during key moments of the tape. We’ll keep readers apprised of this negotiation, but we want to know: How much would you pay for these rights?
Surprise, surprise a Republican has proven to be a hypocrite… Republicans who support gay rights have seen their brief hopes for Rick Perry’s candidacy dashed as old quotes surface, new pledges are signed and news of his forthcoming campaign events and associations emerges. The Texas governor and leading presidential candidate briefly gave hope to the increasingly influential group of Republican LGBT advocates when he expressed his support for the rights of states to pass their own legislation governing marriage. Since then, however, he has said he would back a constitutional amendment banning the practice, while quotes from an old book surfaced in which he compared homosexuality to alcoholism. On Friday, meanwhile, Perry signed the National Organization for Marriage’s pledge that would, among other things, commit him to support sending a federal marriage amendment to states upon becoming president. But the icing on the cake could come this weekend, when Perry is set to mingle with one of the most virulently anti-gay activists and prominent social conservative donors in his home state. The event, officially labeled a “call to action,” will feature a retreat at a Texas Hill Country ranch. Among the event’s hosts will be David Barton, an evangelical leader and founder of the organization WallBuilders. Barton is most commonly known for holding revisionist historical views, specifically regarding the history of civil rights. But his incendiary stance on LGBT issues has made him an object of intense concern for both progressives who monitor right-wing figures and for Republicans who support gay rights. Most recently, when the state of New York legalized same-sex marriage, Barton argued that anti-gay groups should proverbially “scalp” the four Republican state senators who had backed the bill. He added some choice words for Ken Mehlman, the former RNC Chairman turned LGBT activist, as well. Perry’s fellow Republican comrades are less than pleased with his decision to say the least. “It is unfortunate Governor Perry decided to turn to a big government, anti-conservative position by signing the National Organization for Marriage’s pledge,” said R. Clarke Cooper, Executive Director of the Log Cabin Republicans. “This pledge is out of step with America and the general electorate the GOP needs to win the White House.” Translation: “This mickiefickie is gonna F up our chances of winning this election by pissing off all the voting fa-, er…homosexuals.” SMH Source

When it comes to breaking records in the hip hop arena, Eminem is the man to beat. Besides selling millions of albums in a rapidly declining industry, Em is one of two rappers to have won the Best Rap Album Grammy each time they’ve released a disc. The other person in that club is Kanye West . Today marks another milestone in the career of the Detroit rapper. It was announced that after being released about a year ago, Recovery is the first album to sell a million digital copies. Interscope’s Vice Chairman Steve Berman stated, “ Recovery selling one million digital albums is an incredible achievement by an incredible artist. I have had the pleasure of working with Eminem throughout the course of his career, and I’m delighted to be a part of yet another milestone on his amazing journey.” Em’s manager, Paul Rosenberg added, “We are thrilled to congratulate Eminem on the history-making digital sales success of Recovery. Over the years we’ve made a concerted effort to engage Em’s online fan base so this achievement is especially rewarding. Eminem made an amazing album with Recovery and the fans responded in record numbers.” You know how the saying goes, “Men lie. women lie. numbers don’t.” Congratulations Eminem. Singer will debut her first single, ‘This Time,’ on the American Idols Live! Tour. By Kara Warner Pia Toscano Photo: Getty Images The rumors have been swirling since the day after her shocking “American Idol” exit back in April, but Pia Toscano has officially been signed to Interscope Records. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Idol” songstress will release her debut single, “This Time,” on July 12 and perform the song as part of her set during this summer’s American Idols Live! Tour. “This Time” was written by hitmaker Esther Dean, who is responsible for Rihanna’s hit singles “S&M,” “Rude Boy” and “What’s My Name.” Dean’s musical stylings can also be heard on Nicki Minaj’s smash “Super Bass.” “This Time” is surprisingly not a ballad — which was Toscano’s specialty during her short-lived time on “Idol.” Instead, it is said to be an acoustic-guitar and beat-driven track. “I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family,” Toscano said in a statement released to The Reporter. “[Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I’m looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true.” When Toscano stopped by the MTV Newsroom earlier this year, she was coy about the Interscope rumors. “I don’t know yet what’s going on with that,” Toscano said. “Hopefully good things.” She did open up a bit about her hopes and dreams, career-wise, in addition to possibly re-teaming with her “Idol” producers sometime soon. “Rodney Jerkins was my dream. Harvey Mason Jr., amazing. Ron Fair is incredible, and those were the three producers I’ve always wanted to work with, that I’ve always dreamed of,” she gushed. “And this made it all possible. I definitely want to work with Ryan Tedder, Evan Bogart,” she added. Toscano went on to say that she’d be “totally” into doing a few duets. “I would love to do a duet with Alicia Keys, Christina [Aguilera], people that I’ve looked up to,” she said. “Jay-Z would be cool.” What about one with rumored love interest, “Dancing With the Stars” pro/ aspiring musician Mark Ballas? “Ha, totally,” Toscano agreed. “Mark is very, very talented, so it could happen.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
Stephen Colbert will not be our next President. But he may have a say who gets the job. The comedian/talk show host won approval today from the Federal Election Committee to form a SuperPAC, meaning Colbert can raise money and produce/buy television time for political advertisements. “Moments ago the Federal Election Committee made their ruling,” Colbert said ta crown below outside the FEC headquarters. “And ladies and gentlemen I’m sorry to say, we won!” Stephen Colbert Super PAC Announcement How did this come about? Former FEC Chairman Robert Lenhard said the ruling “means people can use their network’s resources to fund their own PAC ads without needing to report it on their network, on their show.” As for the host of The Colbert Report? Added Lenhard: “I think he’s going to have fun. But until he gets at least a million dollars he’s not going to run many ads outside of his show.” Colbert is already working on that, however. He solicited donations from fans during his speech, telling supporters: “I don’t know about you but I do not accept limits on my free speech, I don’t know about you but I do not accept the status quo. But I do accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.”
Young Keke Palmer is out there grinding! In addition to a role in Tyler Perry’s latest star studded production, Keke has added a new title to her already impressive resume. She will be starring in and producing a new musical film “Ragz,” also produced by TeenNick Chairman, Nick Cannon. Rodney Jerkins will serve as music supervisor, and music video director, Bille Woodruff, will serve as director. Keke posted on her official site, “I loved the project so much that I wanted to be a producer on it as well , I even got to make suggestions on the script which influenced the music, and speaking of the music, we were so fortunate to have been able to steal Rodney Jerkins, and his amazing writing team, away from American Idol long enough to write all of the fabulous music!!” Get it KeKe! ‘I would consider myself a musician that also acts,’ the ‘Gossip Girl’ star tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Momsen Photo: MTV News Taylor Momsen has been teasing fans for quite some time now about her debut album . This week, she and the Pretty Reckless finally dropped Light Me Up, a searing rock album that features the “Gossip Girl” star growling over guitars. Momsen said she’s been talking about it so much that finally having it out is still kind of unbelievable. “It doesn’t exactly feel real yet. I’ve been talking about it for a long time,” she told MTV News. “I’m very excited for people to hear it.” Momsen has had a big task as she pushes to get people to hear the album. She needs to somehow convince the world that she isn’t just another starlet thinking it might be cool to release an album. For her, music is what it’s really all about. “It’s still something I have to overcome,” she explained. “I don’t think it’s fully transitioned. I would consider myself a musician that also acts. I’ve been writing songs since I was 5. It’s the thing that I chose for myself. I wasn’t put into it. I made the decision and couldn’t live without it, and hopefully people will give the record a chance and they’ll hear that. They’ll hear that it’s not some side vanity project [but] that I really, really worked on it for a long time, really my whole life.” While many of her peers in La La Land have opted to release more top 40-friendly tunes, Momsen has embraced grunge alt. “I wouldn’t have ever put out a dance record and probably never will,” she said. “I think there’s a place for all types of music, but it’s not my cup of tea. “I love classic rock,” she continued. “What I love about music is I love playing. That’s what I loved about music to begin with; that’s what I fell in love with. It was the rawness and hearing the imperfections and having the imperfections be what makes it so unique and honest. I really wanted to make an honest record. That was the outlook that kept me sane and honest.” Out of the 11 tracks on the record, Momsen said she can’t really nail down her favorite. “I think there’s something for everyone on the record,” she said. “There was no real formula to the way that we wrote. It’s hard to define that, but ‘Make Me Wanna Die’ [is my favorite song] if I had to pick one. It was the first song written for the record, so it kind of defined the direction.” Related Artists Taylor Momsen
