Kanye’s Birthday And His 8 Gaudy Gifts [PHOTOS]

Here is the original post:

Today is Kanye West’s 34th birthday! Now we all know that Mr. West loves to adorn himself with the finer things in life. The exclusive items that he purchases on a day-to-day basis would suffice for the average person’s birthday, Christmas and anniversary presents combined … for life! So in celebration of Yeezy’s birthday, June 8, why not recap eight of the most ridiculously gaudy gifts that he has presented to himself? After all, he probably thinks that his gifts are the best anyway! FACT OF THE DAY: Kanye West Almost Signed With Capitol Records When Kanye feels like having Indian curry and fish for lunch, he flies it (and the head chef) in from the UK to New York for $4,000. Visiting Egypt or the King Tut exhibition isn’t enough; Kanye needs the $300,000 gold Horus chain and pyramids ring to “set it off right.” Mirrors are cool, but Kanye would prefer to look at a bejeweled image of himself in his $180,000 Tiret watch. Kanye thought it was a good idea to permanently replace his bottom teeth with gold and diamonds. From what he tells Ellen DeGeneres, toothpaste is the perfect jewelry cleanser anyhow! Kanye doesn’t like to ride in style… he rides above style! Kanye purchased a $1.7 million secret agent SLR Mercedesz-Benz McLaren. Kanye makes his wildest dreams reality—he films “Runaway,” featuring a nude Phoenix, ballerinas, and a huge Michael Jackson float. It makes perfect sense that Kanye wanted his $7 million LA home to be as smart and vivid as himself. His home is run by an elaborate computer matrix. Who likes vixens with big mouths? not Kanye. He paid Amber Rose a seven-figure “silence fee” to keep quiet about their relationship. Did You Know Nicki Minaj Plays The Clarinet? See The Video Here! ’30 Minutes Or Less’ Stars Call Car Chases ‘Easy’ At MTV’s Sneak Peek Week

Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson share their action-hero dreams at Q&A session. By Eric Ditzian Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson Photo: MTV News WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — The bar was set super high Friday night (June 3) during MTV’s final Sneak Peek Week screening. Since Monday, we’d been showing early looks at some of the summer’s hottest films and having crazy chats with the various casts. Take, for instance, the moment “Horrible Bosses” star Jason Sudeikis launched into a filthily hilarious explanation of the “The Twilight Saga” : the vampire story as told by a “Star Wars”-obsessed, mind-in-the-gutter comedian. The pressure was on Friday, and the guys from “30 Minutes or Less” — stars Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson and director Reuben Fleischer — were more than up to the task. Their upcoming action/comedy, it should be said, served as quite the warm-up act for the crowd at the Pacific Design Center. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg as a beer-guzzling, joint-sucking pizza delivery boy who gets sucked into a harebrained scheme, hatched by slackers played by Danny McBride and Swardson, to rob a bank. Eisenberg’s character, with a bomb strapped to his chest and only hours to complete the heist, enlists his pal, a teacher played by Ansari, to help out in the crime. Things do not go very well, to hilarious results. The part represents Ansari’s biggest onscreen role to date. “This is the first time I’ve been around the whole movie,” he said. “Usually I’ll be around for a few minutes, and then they’re like, ‘Just say something about your penis and get out of here!’ ” It was all new for Swardson, too, who cracked that perhaps he has the makings of an action-hero career. “Maybe I’ll be the Predator!” Is launching such a career as easy as that? According to Ansari, at least, the car-chase portion of action flicks is a breeze. “Car chases are pretty easy,” he said. “You’re like, ‘Oooohhhhhhh!’ OK, let’s get another one. ‘Whooooooooa! Look out!’ ” On second thought, though, maybe these guys aren’t cut out to inherent the cinematic thrones of Stallone and Schwarzenegger. It just takes so damn long to shoot one of these flicks, Ansari said. After production wrapped on “30 Minutes,” he added, “I watched ‘Fast Five,’ and I was like, ‘How did this movie not take 20 years to make? Did Vin Diesel start making this when he was 5?’ ” Though Eisenberg and McBride couldn’t make the Q&A, the duo did tape a message for the crowd. “I sent my family a similar taped message at Thanksgiving,” McBride confessed. Said Eisenberg, “We hope you liked the movie. But if you didn’t, by this point it’s on you, because you’re still there.” As the laughter rolled in, no one seemed to be complaining about spending their Friday night at Sneak Peek Week. Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the “America’s Best Dance Crew” finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of “After Hours.” To get into the magical movie mood, it’s Sneak Peek Week — five days of exclusives and interviews with the casts of “Fright Night,” “Horrible Bosses” and more. Drake Talks About Getting His “A** Whooped” In A Fight [VIDEO]

View post:

Drake is so cool, he gets paid “just to be there.” At least that is what he told #5 Magazine; in the same issue  they dubbed Nicki Minaj “The Queen Of New York.” Drake says his first paycheck came from Hip Hop producer Dr. Dre. The Young Money artist then describes the first fight he ever had. What was the first record you bought? I think it was Queen Latifah “U.N.I.T.Y.” That was like the first cassette that I had. On his first paycheck It was from Dr. Dre for $10,000 just for being there. On his first kiss First kiss is a blur a bit because it was like, “I don’t even know if I kissed that girl.” I’d say the most memorable kiss I had was with this girl Jade Lee. We kissed this one time on the roof of my mom’s old house. We wrote our names on it. It was like some real romantic type ish. On his first fight It wasn’t much of a fight, I got my a** whopped. I got jumped at this thing we call “sports weekend” way back in the day. You drive out to Windsor and I was mouthing off to somebody and caught it one time. On the last pair of sneakers that he bought It gotta be Jordan. I rep Jordan all day. On the last car he purchased It was an Aston Martin but then I gave it back because I want to get this Ferrari Italia. Lady Gaga Says Born This Way Is ‘Absolutely’ Not Worth More Than 99 Cents

‘I applaud a company like Amazon for equating the value of digital versus the physical copy,’ Gaga tells The Wall Street Journal. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images Ever since Lady Gaga’s Born This Way was released on May 23, much has been made of its pricing and promotion, a multi-tiered plan that included partnerships with everyone from the folks behind “FarmVille” to Best Buy … and, of course, Amazon.com, which decided to price the album at 99 cents on the day of release to promote its Cloud Drive service (and when the download demand subsequently sank the site, they extended the deal for a second day). According to some estimates , downloads through Amazon accounted for nearly half of Born This Way ‘s 1.1 million sales — which certainly proved that it worked — but at the same time, it also sparked genuine debate about the inherent worth of an album … and whether the Amazon model may have fundamentally changed the way new releases are promoted and priced. So, in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal , Gaga was asked whether she believed that Born This Way was worth more than 99 cents. And her answer was somewhat surprising. “No. I absolutely do not, especially for MP3s and digital music. It’s invisible. It’s in space. If anything, I applaud a company like Amazon for equating the value of digital versus the physical copy, and giving the opportunity to everyone to buy music,” she said. “It also wasn’t really 99 cents, because Amazon paid the difference on all of those purchases as part of their promotional campaign for one of their new services. I think it’s amazing and it was a really nice surprise and I felt honored that they chose my record to be part of it.” Amazon would be paying the difference on all those 99-cent purchases to Interscope/ Universal Music Group — a tab that could run as high $3.2 million, according to Billboard.biz — but in the long run, that loss might actually be viewed as a win, since it drove traffic to the site and raised awareness of its fledgling Cloud Drive service. And Gaga is the first to admit that the plan isn’t for everyone … it’s up to individual artists (and their labels) to determine a price point. But she’s happy with the results this time out. “I don’t know if other artists or other companies would want to adopt the same model,” she told the WSJ . “Everyone always has the opportunity to sell their music at any price they want to. This sort of happened this way and it’s very exciting.” Related Videos Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside Related Artists Lady Gaga

Death Cab For Cutie’s Guide To Seattle: Coffee And Drum Lessons From Dave Grohl

In part two of our ‘Seattle Sonics’ series, the band takes us to their Sip & Ship ‘nerve center’ and American Music shop. By James Montgomery Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla and Jason McGerr Photo: MTV News SEATTLE — Chris Walla is a bit of a multitasker: That much is clear just by his rather prodigious output as a producer, solo musician and full-time member of Death Cab for Cutie . So it should probably come as no surprise that, for MTV News’ second edition of “Seattle Sonics,” Walla decided to take us to one of his favorite spots in Seatown: Sip & Ship, the kind of place that defines multitasking. See, S&S is the sort of place that seemingly only exists in Seattle: A communal, cozy combination shipping depot/coffee bar that also happens to be a gift shop. Oh, and they make a mean grilled cheese, too. Located in the city’s Ballard neighborhood — right down the block from a nefarious FedEx Office outpost — Walla first visited the shop six years ago (after a rather terrible experience at said FedEx), and in the time since, Sip & Ship has become the de facto home office for all things Death Cab. Merch, master tapes of albums, musical instruments and the occasional eBay purchase all pass through S&S. Walla has become close friends with the shop’s owners (one of them, Diana Naramore, even made a cameo in his “Sing Again” video ) and the coffee’s really great, too. “This place has become a communications and shipping and caffeine and calorie hub without which I don’t think Death Cab for Cutie would actually be able to do any business at all. This is one of the Seattle nerve centers of the band,” Walla explained. “We did a whole series of test-pressings for the new record, and we got four or five shipments of them here. We’d pick ’em up and then go home and listen to records.” Drummer Jason McGerr also chimed in: “It’s a far safer bet than my doorstep — which I don’t even step on all that often,” he said, laughing. And while Sip & Ship has been an important cog in the Death Cab machine for six years, there’s another spot nearby that’s been part of their lives for much longer: American Music, a Seattle institution since it first opened its doors in 1973 and the place where local bands (you know, like Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains) went to get their gear. It’s not surprising that both Walla — who grew up nearby — and McGerr — who worked there in 1994, when he was 19 years old — chose it as the next place they took our cameras. “I traded all my paychecks for equipment, and I got to know a whole lot of local drummers,” McGerr said from his old post behind the American counter. “And there were times, 10 minutes before close, Dave Grohl would come in and sit down and just start blowing on drums and the front door would shut and we’d sit there and watch him. … There was always a scene happening within the store. If you played music and you got your supplies in Seattle, it was from American Music.” And American was also where you’d find Walla hanging out as a slightly awkward teenager, doing “double drummer stuff” with friend (and former Death Cab drummer) Nathan Good. And he did it mostly out of necessity, because back then, there weren’t many places 15-year-old music obsessives could hang out, due mostly to Seattle’s oppressive Teen Dance Ordinance , which made all-ages shows all but impossible to organize. And, really, to Walla, that’s what makes the place much more than a music store. It’s sort of his home away from home. “I got a lot of stuff here that was cast-off junk, but I still use it,” Walla said. “There are tons of music stores that are just enormous boxes, that are full of guitars and drums and cymbals and whatever, and they might have more stock than a place like American does, but American has the heart and soul of a music store that I want when I walk into a music store.” Death Cab for Cutie: Seattle Sonics continues all week on MTVNews.com. On Thursday, we’ll head to a vaunted (and now defunct) all-ages venue where DCFC learned how to be a band — and still made it home in time for curfew. Read the original:

The six men who allegedly shot up Waka Flocka Flame’s tour bus earlier this year have had all the charges dropped against them by prosecutors in Charlotte, NC. One man was injured in the shooting. A spokesman for Waka Flocka says that the shooting began after a botched attempt to rob the rapper of his jewelry. Police said they found no evidence of a robbery attempt. Prosecutors also dropped the charges because no witnesses had identified the shooters. The men faced charges of armed robbery, conspiracy and discharging a gun into occupied property. My Bieber experience started back in 2008 when JDB uploaded…

My Bieber experience started back in 2008 when JDB uploaded Chris Brown’s “With You” . I saw it the day it came out, but enough about that! The other night in Sydney was my first Justin Bieber concert seeing as last year’s one was cancelled and om-biebness, it was amazing. DJ Tay James broke it down and Dan Kanter tore it up but Justin Bieber was outstanding. As expected. After the concert, we went and grabbed some confetti and then raced out to where the vans and buses were leaving so we could catch a glimpse of the Biebs but alas, not even the crazy girls standing on the road could see him. We then got into my car, and headed home. We stopped off at a Maccas on the way, about 40 minutes from the city, when one of my friends pulled out her iPhone and checked Twitter. Chris Brown said THEY WERE GOING BOWLING! CRAP!! So we got back in the car and rushed into the city. We didn’t know they were going bowling, or when they were going bowling BUT WE WENT! The first place we got to was an over 18 bowling bar with some little kids and their mum standing outside. The bouncer checked me and my friends ID (and the other two were well underage) and we went inside. Bieber was not there but feeling so guilty for walking into the alley without doing anything, we purchased a game of bowling. We thought that all the alleys would close up at about 12 so at 10 past 12 when Alfredo Flores tweeted they were still bowling, we freaked out and left that place to find the other place! When we got to the other place, we noticed a group of beliebers standing outside, the very same people who we had sat next to a the concert! We waited about 15 minutes in the cold (this is about 12:30am might I add) and then a figure started walking up the corridor inside towards the glass doors. IT WAS FREAKING SCOOTER BRAUN!! I waved and he smiled and gave me thumbs up! That was it, from then on, we were waiting until we saw our JB. About 15 minutes later, we approached the other group and spoke to them. They said they had already had their photo with CHRIS BROWN and that they spoke to Scooter who had told them not to freak out if JB comes out but just to approach him calmly. WOWOWOWOWOW. About 15 minutes later, THE ENTIRE CREW CAME OUT. Chris Brown came out and we snapped a couple with him before he headed off . The other group of beliebers were having their photos taken with JB at this moment so I asked Scooter if we could get a pic as well but he was like, “Well these guys have been waiting here a long time and I told them they could….plus Justin’s got school in the morning,” to which we responded, “but Bec’s also got school in the morning!!” (more like Bec’s got school in 6 hours). Then Kenny (OMB KENNY) was like, “Okay Justin let’s go” and they started walking the other way to which Chris Brown had walked and Scooter whispered to us, “Go around and meet us over there!!” SO WE DID!!!! We then snapped some pictures and waited for them all to leave before we passed out in excitement. Three years of following JB all meant so much more when finally we got to meet him. #NEVERSAYNEVER -Matt See the original post here: My Bieber experience started back in 2008 when JDB uploaded…
