Sandra Bullock Finalizes Divorce From Jesse James

Papers were filed in Texas formally ending the five-year marriage. By Jocelyn Vena Jesse James and Sandra Bullock Photo: Jordan Strauss/ WireImage After her split from Jesse James earlier this year, Sandra Bullock has finalized her divorce from her husband of nearly five years. According to UsMagazine.com , the pair filed sealed papers last week in Texas to finalize their divorce. The papers were filed in Travis County Court in Austin, where Bullock currently lives and where James reportedly plans to move to be near his ex-wife, who is close with his three children from previous relationships. TMZ reports that in original documents filed on April 23, Bullock claimed that her marriage to James “has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.” She can now continue adopting her son, Louis, as a single parent. The news comes hot on the heels of several high-profile appearances by Bullock. She appeared at Spike’s Guys Choice Awards , the MTV Movie Awards and just last week at the star-studded Nashville Rising benefit show. Back in April when Bullock sat down with People to talk about her split from James, she said that she was now focused on raising her son and that her relationship with her future ex-husband is “a different one. A bittersweet one. One of new understanding. One of support for his recovery. One that changed my life.” Though she is adopting Louis as a single parent, she said she hopes that he can still have a great dad like she’s seen James be to his own three kids. “I really don’t know how our paths will intersect in the future,” she said. The Band From TV ‘Take Over’ Chicago

TV stars-turned-charity-rockers Greg Grunberg, Bob Guiney talk to MTV News before series of gigs. By Tami Katzoff Band From TV plays gigs in Chicago with “House” star Hugh Laurie Photo: MTV News CHICAGO — The fun started on Friday at Chicago’s Harry Caray’s Tavern, as the star of TV’s “House,” Hugh Laurie, introduced Band From TV in his distinctively gravelly British accent. “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, friends, acquaintances, lovers, fighters, tax attorneys, pickpockets and hockey fans … for your entertainment, edification and sheer shuddering pleasure: Band From TV!” Laurie bellowed. The concert kicked off a blitz of weekend gigs in Chicago by the band of musicians who also happen to appear regularly on your TV screen. The group, which plays for charity, is made up of Laurie and TV stars Greg Grunberg (“Heroes”), James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”), Jesse Spencer (“House”), Adrian Pasdar (“Heroes”), Bob Guiney (“The Bachelor,” “GSN: Live”) and Scott Grimes (“ER”). Performing rock-and-roll covers, the band played the Windy City steakhouse on Navy Pier on Friday, continuing the next day with a show on the main stage in Grant Park, as part of the Taste of Chicago event. The same night, they played another gig at the Vic Theatre (this show benefitting the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago). They wrapped up on Sunday with a short set before a Cubs/ White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field. “Yeah, Band From TV is basically taking over Chicago. It’s pretty crazy,” said drummer Greg Grunberg, who stars in the upcoming NBC comedy “Love Bites.” A founding member, Grunberg first met Laurie in 2006 when he was cast in guest-starring role on an episode of the Fox medical drama “House.” “He’s such a wonderful guy,” Grunberg told MTV News of his bandmate when we caught up by phone a few weeks before their series of shows. “And I knew he had played music because I followed his career, all the British comedy stuff that he did, and [in] a lot of the sketch comedy he did back there, he would do musical numbers.” Grunberg was already playing around Los Angeles in a garage band, so the two actors got together to jam. James Denton soon joined the group, followed by lead vocalist Bob Guiney, who met Grunberg at a charity event. “Greg was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to jam with some friends, why don’t you come?” Guiney recalled. “So I go to the rehearsal space … and in walks James Denton, and then in walks Hugh Laurie. And this is the first time I’m meeting these guys. And we immediately hit it off.” Two weeks later the band played its first gig, opening in L.A. for Mick Fleetwood and Macy Gray — and Band From TV was born. Guiney added, “We got such great feedback from it that we were like, ‘Let’s keep this going, this is fun.’ Eventually more actors were added to the mix, Grunberg explained. “Hugh brought in Jesse Spencer from ‘House,’ I brought in Adrian from ‘Heroes,’ … before I knew, it we had this band.” Scott Grimes was a recent addition, and the band often brings in special guests — mostly other TV actors — to perform at various shows. While audiences might go in expecting something less than top-notch from these TV stars-turned-rockers, Band From TV are the real deal. They bring some professional musicians and backup singers onstage for extra support and the result is a polished sound. “We see the jaws drop when we come out because people expect us to fall flat on our face, or sound like every other ‘actor band,’ ” Grunberg said. “But we’re really pretty tight.” Laurie seems to be the virtuoso of the group. At the Chicago gigs, he played piano while singing Ray Charles’ “Mary Ann” and later grabbed a mandolin for Pasdar’s rendition of Charlie Robison’s “John O’Reilly.” “The guy is the best musician I’ve ever met in my life. And it’s amazing because he’s so completely humble about it,” Guiney, who had a career in music before he ever appeared on TV, said of Laurie. Because they’re on television, the bandmembers must work rehearsals and performances into already hectic working schedules. And it’s more than the love of music that drives them: The money made from shows — as well as their 2008 CD/DVD, Hoggin’ All the Covers — is divided among the actors’ favorite charities. “It just takes a lot of effort,” Grunberg said. “But we enjoy it so much and the end result is, in the last four years we’ve given away over $2 million in charity, so it’s worth it.” Their only Chicago gig with an admission price was Saturday night’s show at the Vic. Grunberg is the official spokesperson for the National Epilepsy Foundation and the cause is personal to him. “My oldest son has epilepsy and he actually had brain surgery at Rush [University] Medical Center in Chicago. The doctors at Rush Medical Center basically saved my son’s life, and I really wanted to do something special for Chicago.” Judging by the near-ecstatic reaction of their fans, Chicago did indeed get something special. Obama’s Former Rev. Wright Gives Seminar Bashing Whites and Jews, Media Mum

President Obama’s former spiritual advisor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, gave a seminar at the University of Chicago last week in which he made numerous anti-Semitic remarks while once again attacking white people. According to the New York Post, during the five-day course that cost up to $1,000, Wright claimed “whites and Jews are controlling the flow of worldwide information and oppressing blacks in Israel and America.” “White folk done took this country,” Wright said. “You’re in their home, and they’re gonna let you know it.”  Despite the astonishingly racist comments during this week-long event, as well as his former connection to the current President of the United States, not one media outlet besides the Post reported what transpired at the Chicago Theological Seminary on the university campus. Not one! For those that can stand it, here are some more disgraceful things uttered by the man our President worshiped with for twenty years (h/t Weasel Zippers ): “You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk,” he said. “And if you do not realize that, you are in serious trouble.” He cited the writings of Bill Jones — author of the book “Is God a White Racist?” — as proof that white people cannot be trusted. “Bill said, ‘They just killed four of their own at Kent State. They’ll step on you like a cockroach and keep on movin’, cause you not a brother to them.’ ” Wright referred to Italians as “Mamma Luigi” and “pizzeria.” He said the educational system in America is designed by whites to miseducate blacks “not by benign neglect but by malignant intent.” He said Ethiopian Jews are despised by white Jews: “And now the Knesset [Israeli parliament] is meeting with European Jews, voting on whether or not these African Jews can get into [Israel].” The civil-rights movement, Wright said, was never about racial equality: “It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do.” Martin Luther King, he said, was misguided for advocating nonviolence among his people, “born in the oven of America.” “We probably have more African-Americans who’ve been brainwashed than we have South Africans who’ve been brainwashed,” he said, and seemed to allude to President Obama twice: “Unfortunately, I got in trouble with a fella for saying this . . . All your commentaries are written by oppressors.” At the mention of Nation of Islam head Louis Farrakhan — whom Obama disavowed during the campaign — black leaders “go cuttin’ and duckin’,” he said. As media ignore the disgusting things this man says, they are complicit in separating him from the man he once advised spiritually. It’s as if Obama never sat in the pews of the Trinity Church and his Reverend never existed.

Taylor Lautner’s ‘Abduction’ Co-Star Maria Bello Says Movie Is ‘Badass’

‘It’s an incredible script,’ the actress says. By Eric Ditzian Maria Bello Photo: MTV News Taylor Lautner has thrown himself into boxing and fight training in the last few months. He’s learning to work movie magic on a motorcycle. And he’s likely going to have to jump into a pool and figure out how to swim like an action hero . That’s just what it’s going to take to slip into his starring role in “Abduction,” a flick that’s being compared to the Jason Bourne films. And it’s a good thing he’s committed himself so fully, because as co-star Mario Bello told MTV News , the movie will be nothing short of hardcore. “It’s an incredible script. It really is,” she told us at the red-carpet premiere of “Grown Ups.” “John Singleton is directing. I’m so happy to be a part of it. It’s going to be a badass movie.” The story follows Lautner as a kid who, thanks to a visit to a missing-persons website, discovers that he has actually been abducted and the parents who raised him are not his flesh and blood. Jason Isaacs plays his faux-dad, while Bello is his faux-mom. “Do I look like Taylor’s mom?” she asked. Judging by the look she was rocking the red carpet — a form-fitting blue dress and short, sun-kissed blonde locks — Bello should have no problem convincing audiences that she could have birthed a good-looking kid like Lautner. “He is such a gorgeous guy,” she said. But, of course, in the film it turns out that she’s not his real mother. And when Lautner makes that discovery, he’s thrust into a run-and-gun-style thriller. Lautner himself has clearly been training hard for the requirements of “Abduction,” but what about Bello? Might we see her kick a little ass on the big screen? “You never know?” she said. “You’ll have to see the movie!” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

AP: "Oil Leak Wouldn’t Fill Superdome" – Who Cares?

Image Source: Boston.com A new AP article out on Monday had my jaw on the ground. The article, By the numbers: Oil leak wouldn’t fill Superdome by Seth Borenstein seemed to play down the severity of the BP oil leak and support BP CEO Tony Hayward’s statement that the amount of oil spilled was “relatively tiny” by providing comparisons to everyday measures that we can relate to. Overwhelmed and saddened by the gargantuan size of the Gulf oil spill? A little mathematical context to the spill size can put the envi… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Bradley Cooper, Bruce Willis To Star In Next M. Night Shyamalan Project

‘Iron Man 2’ star Gwyneth Paltrow will also reportedly star in ‘Last Airbender’ director’s upcoming film. By Adam Rosenberg Bradley Cooper Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ Getty Images Director M. Night Shyamalan is preparing to release his first big-budget, effects-driven blockbuster, “The Last Airbender,” based on the Nickelodeon cartoon “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” on July 1. And his next original film is a project for which the stars now seem to be aligning. The Hollywood Reporter ‘s Heat Vision blog reveals that those stars include Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Bruce Willis, who are all “loosely attached” to headline the film. No plot details have been revealed, as is usual with Shyamalan, but the filmmaker has assistants ferrying his script between studio execs, who are observed by those same assistants and are expected to surrender the script immediately after finishing. “Lady in the Water” aside, Shyamalan’s films continue to make money, though his most recent efforts have fared poorly with critics. And nothing has performed as well as the director’s debut effort, “The Sixth Sense,” which starred Willis and earned almost $700 million in worldwide ticket sales. The actor also worked with Shyamalan on his “Sixth Sense” follow-up, “Unbreakable.” If Willis is cast in this mysterious “Airbender” follow-up, it would be the pair’s first time working together since 2000. Cooper, who is just coming off of smiling for the cameras in support of this summer’s “The A-Team” and presenting duties at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , has a big 2011 coming up. He’ll star in the Todd Phillips-directed ensemble comedy “The Hangover 2,” reprising his role from last summer. He’ll also lead a cast that includes Robert De Niro, Anna Friel and Abbie Cornish in an adaptation of Alan Glynn’s novel “The Dark Fields.” Paltrow is also coming off of a big press push for her own work in 2010 summer blockbuster “Iron Man 2.” She’ll appear later this year with Leighton Meester, Tim McGraw and “Tron Legacy” star Garrett Hedlund in the country music drama “Love Don’t Let Me Down.” She’s also one of the sizable ensemble cast that’s assembled for Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion,” which also stars Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Laurence Fishburne. Check out everything we’ve got on “The Last Airbender.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
