Will You Be Watching? Common Inks A Deal With Lionsgate To Produce New TV Series

(Johnny Nunez/Getty Images for Remy Martin) Common Lands New TV Deal With Lionsgate Common is continuing on with his many ventures outside of the music world, and this time, his latest move is in the world of TV production. On Friday August 24,  Deadline  reported that the Chicago native, who has acted in movies including  American Gangster and  Barbershop 3 ,  recently signed an overall TV deal with Lionsgate. This deal is one that will see him use his Freedom Road Productions company to “produce and develop” new television series. It seems like Common is really excited for this endeavor, which he spoke on recently. “I’m proud to expand my relationship with the innovative content creator Lionsgate,” Common raved of his new arrangement. “The studio offers a collaborative, creative freedom that is unique in the entertainment industry, which makes them a perfect partner for Freedom Road Productions. I’m looking forward to teaming up with Kevin, Chris and the Lionsgate collective on exciting and fresh television programming.” The rapper, producer, and actor has previously worked with Lionsgate when he appeared in the production company’s films  Now You See Me  and the third installment of the  John Wick  franchise. Now, it looks like he’s about to take his partnership with the company to the next level with his very own project to produce. When it comes to acting, Common is known primarily for his roles in movies–but he’s also starred in AMC’s Western drama,  Hell on Wheels. He’s certainly a jack of all trades, so it’ll be interesting ot see if this new partnership with Lionsgate will have him stepping in front of the camera for any of his new TV endeavors.

Ticket Sales For Nicki Minaj & Future’s NICKIHNDRXX Tour Reportedly “In The Toilet”

Source: Alexander Tamargo / Getty Via | HipHopDX After fans were blitzed with the revelation that the  NICKIHNDRXX Tour  North American leg was canceled, a reason has surfaced and it appears general engagement is to blame.  According to PageSix , ticket sales are “in the toilet” and the tour is in danger of being canceled by its promoter Live Nation. “Nicki’s tour could be the most disappointing ticket sales of the year for any artist,” a Live Nation source said. “These are big arenas with up to 20,000 capacities. Sales for opening night in Baltimore is 2,000 tickets. L.A. is 3,400, New Orleans 1,000, Denver 1,300, Chicago 3,900. Even her hometown Brooklyn is only 5,050.” READ MORE

So it seems the 6 God felt it was only right to hurl shots at Kanye West, while performing in Chicago.  Hitting Chi-Town for the “ Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour ” on Saturday night (August 18), Drake decided to switch up the words on “Know Yourself.” Instead of rapping “Then Kanye dropped, it was polos and backpacks,” he flipped it to “Then Kanye flopped, it was polos and backpacks.” Nah, the crowd didn’t decide to turn on Drake for slandering their hometown product. DJ Envy Hosts Season 5 Of RÉMY MARTIN’s Producer Series In Atlanta

RÉMY MARTIN To kick-off the weekend, House of RÉMY MARTIN and The Breakfast Club’s DJ ENVY hosted the exclusive 5th Season of the PRODUCER SERIES at Atlanta’s Terminal West. The VIP event attracted some of the music industry’s biggest names, who enjoyed music-themed cocktails as the next generation of inspiring music producers competed for a co-sign to create hip-hops newest hit with BIG SEAN and DJ MUSTARD. RÉMY MARTIN The event featured performances by the four Atlanta regional finalists – Beezo, Kryptid, Young Sidechain and Young Pete the Official – who competed for a spot in the finale in Los Angeles this fall. The tournament styled competition allowed each contestant to play their beat as the crowd listened along before the beats were scored by the panel of judges. The judges included Zeno Jones and other Atlanta music mainstays. RÉMY MARTIN In the end, YOUNG SIDECHAIN emerged victorious for the Atlanta competition and will move on to the finals! Following the competition, DJ MARK DA SPOT spun a live set at the space as the after-party celebration began. RÉMY MARTIN The event also featured another new star, the Rémy Martin 1738 ® Limited Edition Speaker Box, in collaboration with Live Nation, crafted to echo the spirit of the Rémy Martin Producers Series and the brand’s music campaign. Other notable guests in attendance included: Jermaine Dupri Jagged Edge Sonny Digital DJ Infamous Bryan Michael Cox Cam Kirk (photographer) The Atlanta event continues the 5th Season of the Producer Series, after the program launched in NYC earlier this summer. Nun Fires Perfect First Pitch Strike, Leaves Internet in Awe

It's official. In case there was any doubt before, all debate has now been put to rest: Sister Mary Jo Sobieck of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago is a better pitcher than 50 Cent. As proven in THIS CLIP , the rapper is on record as having thrown the worst first pitch in Major League Baseball history. So, in that sense, the perfect strike tossed by Sister Mary in the video featured here did not have a high bar to clear in order to be placed higher than 50 Cent's attempt many years ago. But this awe-inspiring nun didn't just head out to the mound on Saturday and barely manage to get the baseball over the plate. No. First, she did a little trick with the ball in her hand and then she threw what can just be described as an ideal 12-6 curveball, one that would have fooled even Aaron Judge or Mike Trout. It floated right down into the catcher's mitt in the heart of the strike zone when all was said, done and applauded. Sister Mary was called upon to make this ceremonial first pitch in Chicago, prior to yet another White Sox loss. They fell to the Royals by a score of 3-1 after the nun left the mound. With a record of 45-77, it's pretty clear the White Sox could use Mary Jo Sobieck on their roster. Maybe not as a starter. Her arm might lack the stamina to go six or seven innings. But as a late-inning reliever? Someone to come in for a batter or two and disrupt the opposing team's rhythm? Someone ordained by God, no less?!? Sign her up, Sox!
