Nun Fires Perfect First Pitch Strike, Leaves Internet in Awe

It's official. In case there was any doubt before, all debate has now been put to rest: Sister Mary Jo Sobieck of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago is a better pitcher than 50 Cent. As proven in THIS CLIP , the rapper is on record as having thrown the worst first pitch in Major League Baseball history. So, in that sense, the perfect strike tossed by Sister Mary in the video featured here did not have a high bar to clear in order to be placed higher than 50 Cent's attempt many years ago. But this awe-inspiring nun didn't just head out to the mound on Saturday and barely manage to get the baseball over the plate. No. First, she did a little trick with the ball in her hand and then she threw what can just be described as an ideal 12-6 curveball, one that would have fooled even Aaron Judge or Mike Trout. It floated right down into the catcher's mitt in the heart of the strike zone when all was said, done and applauded. Sister Mary was called upon to make this ceremonial first pitch in Chicago, prior to yet another White Sox loss. They fell to the Royals by a score of 3-1 after the nun left the mound. With a record of 45-77, it's pretty clear the White Sox could use Mary Jo Sobieck on their roster. Maybe not as a starter. Her arm might lack the stamina to go six or seven innings. But as a late-inning reliever? Someone to come in for a batter or two and disrupt the opposing team's rhythm? Someone ordained by God, no less?!? Sign her up, Sox! And check out this footage now, readers! (And then click on the following link to compare this memorable first pitch to past first pitches . Who hurled it best?)

Okaaay: Man Changes His Gender To Female To Get Cheaper Car Insurance

Read the original post:

Source: martin-dm / Getty Folks will definitely go out their way to save a buck. One man was trying to cut back his costs for car insurance and he went as far as changing his gender identity. According to CBS Chicago , David, who lives in Alberta, Canada, wanted to buy his dream car and he started calling insurance providers for a quote. He was disappointed to find out that in order to insure his new Chevy Cruze, he would have to pay $4,500 a year because he is a man in his 20s with one accident on his record. Well, David was not about this. He asked the insurers what it would cost if he was a woman and the quote went down to $3,400. Thus to save $91 a month, David took advantage of Canada’s policies on officially changing your gender. In Alberta, you only need to have a doctor’s note stating that the patient identifies as a member of a different gender. David got the doctor’s note, sent it to Alberta’s provincial government and received a new birth certificate in the mail a few weeks later. According to Canadian government, David is now a woman and qualifies for cheaper car insurance. Now before anyone starts criticizing how easy it is to get a legal gender change (something that can actually be helpful for trans people), it might be better to put Canadian car insurance practices into question. Then all of this could’ve been avoided.   “I’m a man, 100 percent,” David said. “Legally, I’m a  woman.  I did it for cheaper car insurance.”

Here’s Why #BlackInkCHI Fans Are 9Mag Shading Ryan & Rachel’s 84-Year-Old Situationship

Black Ink Chicago: Ryan Henry’s Long Term Situationship Makes Viewers Cringe If you were watching last night’s episode of Black Ink Chicago , you would have seen Ryan gift Rachel a brand new Benz. The two claim to have dated for “15 years”, share two children (one biologically) and run a business together. But, they aren’t “committed.” Rachel’s family and even Ryan’s mama is even looking at them funny at this point. Are you guys “together” together, or just raising kids together? It’s confusing. Ryan gathered both their families around for this?? And then says he’s going to take his time committing to Rachel, because she needed a Benz and folks are calling it BS. I’m not understanding why some folks are saying that Ryan and Rachel are taking their time. It’s been 15 years, how much time do you need? #BlackInkCrewCHI pic.twitter.com/bwPOYouq2c — Lauren (@_OoohLaaLaa_) July 19, 2018 Where do YOU stand on a 15 year relationship with no commitment??? Hit the flips and see hilarious takes from fans on Ryan and Rachel’s confusing casual union.

Chance The Rapper Drops 4 New Tracks, Buys Chicagoist Website

Source: Apega/WENN.com / WENN Chance The Rapper had fans on the edge of the seats after promising a new full-length album this week, although he eventually decided not to come out with the project . Instead, the Chicago rapper dialed down his initial aims and unleashed four new tracks for the masses. The tracks, “Work Out, “65th & Ingleside,” “I Might Need Security,” and “Wala Cam” featuring Supa Bwe. The songs cover much of Chano’s usual fare, which includes speaking on his engagement to his daughter’s mother, Kirsten Corley, his ties to the Chicago streets, and his generally positive views on life as it happens. Details on who provided production for the tracks are scant, but per Genius “65th & Ingleside features production from Greg Landfair, Peter Cottontale, Nate Fox, Lido, and Chance himself. Savvy fans will recognize Landfair’s name from the defunct Chicago band Kids These Days that Vic Mensa was also once a part of. On “I Might Need Security,” Jamie Foxx, Cottontale, Chance, and Smoko Ono are credited for the production. Lastly on “Wala Cam,” Landfair, Carter Lang, and Lido provided the heat. Lang has worked on SZA’s acclaimed CTRL project among other works. Fox has worked with Chance over the years and, along with Cottontale, is a member of The Social Experiment. In other big news, Chance announced his purchase of the Chicagoist website, which examines all things Chicago, in a verse on “I Might Need Security” by rapping, “I got a hit-list so long I don’t know how to finish/I bought the Chicagoist just to run you racist b*tches out of business/Speaking of racist, f*ck your micro aggressions/I’ll make you fix your words like a typo suggestion.” Check out the new tracks below. — Photo: WENN

Ballers: Jabari Parker Is Headed Back To Chicago After Inking Two-Year, $40 Million Deal

Stacy Revere/Getty Images Jabari Parker Signs A 2-Year Deal With Chicago Bulls Jabari Parker is going back to his hometown. On Saturday morning, the Chicago native secured a two-year, $40 million contract with the Bulls. The agreement was announced shortly after the Milwaukee Bucks rescinded their qualifying offer to the NBA forward, which made him an unrestricted free agent. ESPN  reports that the Bucks didn’t expect to match any offer sheet Parker would’ve signed with Chicago, so rescinding their offer sheet was a “good-faith gesture” that allowed the athlete to negotiate a short-term deal with the Bulls. Free agent forward Jabari Parker has agreed to a two-year, $40M deal with the Chicago Bulls, league sources tell ESPN. Milwaukee rescinded Parker's qualifying offer moments ago, making him unrestricted. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 14, 2018 “Jabari and I felt it was in the best interest of both he and the team to rescind our qualifying offer,” Bucks general manager Jon Horst said in a statement . “We appreciate everything Jabari has brought to our team and our community over the last four years and we wish him well.” According to reports from  ESPN , the second of the Parker-Bulls deal is a team option, which is somewhat predictable considering Parker’s injury history. The 23-year-old athlete has suffered multiple ACL tears within the last four years. His most recent injury occurred in February 2017, which caused him to miss all but 31 games of last season. Shortly after he hit unrestricted free agency–before the announcement of his move to the Bulls–Parker thanked the Bucks for showing him so much support throughout his four-year professional career. “I am extremely grateful to the Bucks and the incredible fans of Milwaukee for showing me so much love and encouragement,” Parker said. “Specifically, I’d like to thank Jon, Marc, Wes, and Jamie for giving me my start in the NBA and supporting me throughout my career. Thank you to my teammates for being like brothers to me. Also, the medical and performance staff led by Troy Flanagan and Suki Hobson deserve my unending thanks for their dedication in helping me get stronger and healthier every day.”

50 Taught Me: Tekashi69 Takes Chief Keef’s Baby Mama Shopping

Source: Instagram/26ix9ine_ / Instagram/26ix9ine_ Tekashi69 is an unapologetic troll. So much so, we can’t remember the last time we discussed the Bushwick rapper’s actual “music.”  Anyway, taking a page straight out of 50 Cent’s playbook, while in Chicago, Tekashi recently took Chief Keef’s baby mama shopping at Gucci. Yes, you read that correctly. Tekashi just upped the beef he has cooking with Sosa exponentially. We’ll let TMZ explain  the sordid details: Tekashi69 is adding more fuel to the fire in his war with fellow rapper Chief Keef, this time by taking Keef’s baby mama, Slim Danger, out on a $75k shopping spree at Gucci for her birthday. Tekashi posted a clip at the Gucci store in NYC with stacks in his hand and Slim, who calls out Keef as a deadbeat dad in the clip. “If you don’t know how to take care of your girl, n***as gonna take care of her for you,” 6ix9ine chimes in. He later copped a feel too. We’re told the two happened to run into one another while Slim was in town to celebrate her bday. She’s cool with Tekashi’s  Tr3way  family, so Tekashi took her shopping to celebrate. One, if your baby mama’s name is “Slim Danger,” struggle is in your future for at least 18 years. Two, Tekashi has really got to chill. Like seriously. Peep the troll at work below.   Peep more of this guy’s shenanigans in Chicago on the flip. — Photo: Instagram

Chicago Police Under Fire For Handcuffing Frightened And Crying 10-Year-Old Boy As A “Teenage Suspect” [Video]

10-year-old Michael Thomas Jr.’s family is understandably concerned as their child was handcuffed and humiliated in front of a local shop last week. NBC Chicago reports that police say they’d received multiple calls reporting a “10-to 12-year-old with a gun” running loose in the area. They decided that Thomas fit the description, and claim that Michael ran briefly when they confronted him. In other reports, the boy claims that officers told him that he was a juvenile escapee with a gun on him, though he denied it. It’s unclear which reason the officers are sticking to as the reason they chose to handcuff the boy. As you can see in the above video, the little boy was so frightened by the incident that he was crying, shaking, and even urinated on himself out of fear. SMH. Police reportedly let him go about 15 minutes later after establishing that he was NOT the teenage boy they were searching for Getty/YouTube

#WearOrange Weekend Has These Celebrities Speaking Up On Gun Violence

Source: Michael Tran / Getty June 1 kicks off Wear Orange Weekend where people across the country will bring awareness to gun violence. The weekend was started in 2015 when 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was shot and killed in Chicago just a week after performing at Barack Obama ‘s inaugural parade in 2013. Hadiya’s friends wanted to honor her in her birth month of June by wearing orange, which is what hunters use to stay protected in the woods. They also wanted to use the opportunity to speak up on gun violence in America. Wear Orange Weekend starts on National Gun Violence Awareness Day and it was started by the organization Everytown for Gun Safety, which does the work to make people more safe from guns. According to their site , they do research, develop solutions, and speak to lawmakers “to pass common-sense laws and policies that save lives.” The Wear Orange Weekend will involve various events, including rallies, marches, barbecues and more, according to the site . Celebrities certainly seem to be getting into the spirit. Multiple actors, entertainers and activists are proudly wearing their orange and posting it to social media. “When we engage with all aspects of culture — be that the music industry, the entertainment industry, the fashion industry — it can be incredibly meaningful to people and incredibly powerful,” said Everytown’s deputy director Jordana Baldwin . Swipe through to find out what celebs are all about the color!
