Now, Southwest Airlines is apologizing profusely. Traci Redford says that her 5-year-old daughter, whose actual name is Abcde, was insulted and mocked by an airline employee. The girl’s name is pronounced ab-city . And yes, it is objectively funny on every level. However, Traci was not amused when a Southwest Airlines employee at John Wayne Airport in California laughed at the name on her daughter’s boarding pass. She was even less amused that the employee apparently photographed the girl’s name on the boarding pass in order to share it on social media. Now, Southwest has issued an apology. In a statement to People , Southwest Airlines profusely apologized for their employee’s very human reaction. “We extend our sincere apology to the family,” the statement begins. “We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our Customers,” Southwest continues. The statement continues: “which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online.” “The post is not indicative of the care, respect, and civility we expect from all of our Employees,” the airline says. “We have followed up with the Employee involved,” Southwest’s apology continues. Blac Chyna has made it very clear that she doesn’t feel that she’s getting enough money from Rob Kardashian . So she is now endorsing a line of skin-bleaching creams, which she plans to promote in person in Nigeria. Twitter is positively livid that she could stoop so low. The product that she is hawking is “Whitenicious X Blac Chyna Diamond Illuminating & Lightening Cream.” That’s quite a mouthful. And also problematic as hell. Each and every cream cream jar features a Swarovski crystal stud design. Those simple jars sell for $250 each. And Chyna is traveling to promote the products in person in Nigeria. Chyna claims that she has been using Whitenicious dark spot corrector on herself for years. Her alleged use of this product has been to deal with darker, hyperpigmented areas of her skin. Now she has her own line of the products to promote for a hefty sum. Next week, while most of us are finishing up our Thanksgiving leftovers, Chyna will be in Lago. This is not earning her a lot of love here in the States. Colorism is basically racism’s less famous sibling, but it’s just as insidious. In colorism, even people of color may dismiss or discriminate against members of their own ethnic communities over skin tone. While European colonizers did not bring colorism to Africa, centuries of racist occupation, oppression, and influence have made things worse. Now, Chyna is capitalizing — literally — on the self-hatred that dark-skinned women may feel towards themselves. A lot of beauty products seek to exploit the insecurities of consumers. Skin-bleaching products take that a step further, exploiting racism and colorism to turn a profit. Nigeria already has a problem with people using skin-bleaching, as people both in the US and in Nigeria have pointed out. “Blac chyna is so gross for this,” tweets one outraged Nigerian. The tweet continues: “She’s targeted nigeria because it has one of the highest rates of skin bleaching, so so trash” Because of this, Chyna’s name trended on Twitter on Tuesday as people responded to her new business venture with horror and disgust. It is understandable that many people would feel that they are being betrayed by a member of their own community. However, some believe that people are wrong to point the finger at Chyna. “Yall really mad at Blac Chyna for signing a deal that supports skin whitening,” begins another tweet. The post continues: “but ain’t mad at the company that signed her(African) or the people who are buying it(also African).” This person believes that the blame resides elsewhere. “Chyna isn’t the culprit in this,” the tweet concludes. “Skin whitening had been a thing in Nigeria for years!” So, who is right? The answer is as complicated as the problem, and, as a white man, it’s ultimately way out of my lane. But it seems clear that a sizable and vocal portion of the black community in America and in Nigeria is upset. They feel like Chyna is exploiting the worst of people’s instincts to fill her pockets. It is also clear that a lot of people were buying this anyway, and that if Chyna didn’t have this deal, someone else would. But according to Melanie, it all started when she lost the love of her life, Eddie Murphy. If you’ll recall, Mel B was in a year-long relationship with Eddie which resulted in their daughter Angel…but ended up getting dumped mid-pregnancy and meeting Stephen Belafonte before even giving birth. As she tells The Sun , in promotion of her upcoming memoir “Brutally Honest,” Eddie was her one great love, but she lost it all over a misunderstanding. “I‘d been madly in love with Eddie and I lost him. Eddie was and still is the love of my life. He’s a genuinely decent man. It’s like a love story where we both have different versions of why it ended.” Apparently Mel and Eddie met at a dinner party and had instant chemistry. The two were in relationship bliss for months on end. Eddie even asked Mel’s mother if he could have her hand in marriage, and Mel designed a Cartier engagement ring. Everything seemed perfect…until Melanie began to question if Eddie needed to have his entire family (his mother Lillian, his brother Charlie, multiple other family, friends, and staff members) living under his same roof. Things came to a head when she discovered she was pregnant. Eddie was over the moon with the news. But then Mel suggested they purchase their own home together — 50/50 split — separate from the multiple friends and family he shared space with. Eddie said no, and didn’t feel it to be necessary. That’s when arguments began, and Mel got the idea to force his hand with the silent treatment. “I told Eddie, ‘I need a break for a few days. I need time to think.’ ‘Are you insane?’ he said. ‘What do you need to think about?’” She took her then 7-year-old daughter Phoenix and flew from LA to Leeds, ignoring all of Eddie’s repeated calls. After a few days away, she boarded the plane back home to work things out and see if Eddie was ready to look at things her way. But while she was on the way home, a TV reporter asked Eddie about the pregnancy and he had THIS to say: “We’re not together anymore, and I don’t know whose that child is until it comes out and has a blood test.” Mel was devastated, raging on Eddie. She let him know what he had done — making her look like a gold digging opportunist unsure of who her child’s father was — was completely unforgivable. “He said, ‘Well, you left me.’ He sounded cold. I explained I hadn’t, then said, ‘I’m going to have to leave you now as this is what you’ve done to me’. I was pregnant. Dumped in public and made to look like a complete and utter slut and gold digger. I wasn’t prepared for that tidal wave of vitriol crashing over me. I still can’t forget being heavily pregnant with Angel and dropping Phoenix to school and a man driving past yelling ‘Whore!’ at me in front of all those LA mums.” Sheesh. Welp, next thing you know. Mel met Stephen Belafonte…who ended up squandering her $90 million fortune, blackmailing her with forced sex tapes, beating her, etc for the next 11 years of her life… “Eddie had publicly dumped me, I’d just given birth to our daughter Angel, and suddenly, here was this man who found me attractive and said he wanted to look after me.” Yikes. Folks, if you’re still holding onto a shred of hope that Khloe Kardashian will dump Tristan Thompson , it may be time to give that up. Despite the fact that Tristan was caught cheating on Khloe will she was pregnant with his child, it looks like these two are gonna ride this thing out. For a while there, it looked as though Khloe was dropping hints about kicking her unfaithful baby daddy to the curb. In fact, TMZ is reporting that Khloe will travel to Cleveland next week to spend Thanksgiving with Tristan and his family. Obviously, spending Thanksgiving with your significant other’s loved ones is a solid indication that you’re in a committed relationship. But spending Thanksgiving in Cleveland — well, that’s next level. Khloe had the option of chillin’ on the beach in Calabasas, and instead, she’s slogging off to the shores of beautiful Lake Erie. And it you don’t live in the Northeast or Midwest, then you might not be aware of it, but winter came early this year. We’re sure Khloe has all kinds of fashionable attire for colder climates, but we’re also sure she’d prefer to be at home, raking in a nice payday for hanging out with her sisters in the presence of an E! camera crew. Lauren Comeau has spoken out for the first time since before a mother… … for, well, the first time. As previously reported, Comeau gave birth to a child alongside Javi Marroquin just after 3 p.m. on Thursday, welcoming a precious boy about two weeks prior to her due date. The newborn does not have a name, but it’s very clear he does have two very loving parents. “It’s been amazing,” Marroquin told Radar Online about becoming a father once again. Radar included a snapshot of the parents and their child , as Javi continued: “I even shed some tears. For those that don’t know, I’m not an emotional person anymore at all and just seeing my son come out really had me in my feelings.” Comeau was due on December 1. But she explained to Radar that she had to be induced several days beforehand, not expounding on the reason why. “It’s been incredible,” she told the site, though, adding: “Being induced definitely threw us for a spin. I was nervous about having to start from zero at the hospital, but we had a really great experience.” We assume she means having to start at zero centimeters dilation upon the induction. You don’t want to hear about technical medical details, we know. You want to know the name of Javi and Lauren’s baby, right? The thing is… so do they! Marroquin told Radar very shortly after the baby was born that he and his girlfriend have not yet picked one out. “His first overnight was amazing,” Lauren added in her post-birth interview. “We all three slept in between nurse visits. He’s latching great. He’s a happy, healthy boy!” Marroquin, as you likely know, appeared on multiple episodes of Teen Mom 2 back when he was married to Kailyn Lowry . They divorced after four years of marriage, but have kept in close touch because they share a five-year old son named Lincoln. In response to Javi becoming a dad again, Lowry wrote “congrats” on Twitter and linked to a story about the exciting development. Remy Ma’s Baby Shower Remy Ma and Papoose celebrated the impending birth of their “Golden Child” with a beautiful baby shower. The couple held their “Soda Shoppe Sock Hop” baby shower Wednesday which had a 50’s theme down to the costumes.. There was also a Pap’s Shake Shake counter and Remy’s diner complete with milkshakes. Guests included Fat Joe, Lil Kim, JuJu and Yandy. Remy previously told “The Real” that her baby shower would have a Grease theme and the color scheme would be pink and blue since they don’t know the child’s sex. “I have all the girls coming who think I’m having a girl because we don’t know, they wear pink poodle skirts. All the girls that think it’s a boy wear blue poodle skirts,” she said. “And if you have no idea, you can just wear red or black. The show depicts the couple’s road to newlywed bliss and the rocky road even that has been. In one clip, the two are having a discussion when Michelle brings up the topic of race, which Chad disapproves of. “I said something to him on the lines of ‘Well, Chad, because you are not Black you would not understand why I communicate the way I do. Maybe because you didn’t grow up around a lot of Black people.’ So that was very, very offensive to Chad,” Michelle recalled in the clip.
