Mac Miller’s mother has shared a beautiful tribute to her late son. Days after the rapper was shockingly found dead at the age of 26 , due to a suspected drug overdose, Karen Meyers has shared a very simple, albeit very telling and special, picture of her child. You can see it here: In the picture uploaded to Instagram, Meyers and her son (whose real name was Malcolm McCormick) are smiling together at a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game. It’s unclear when the snapshot was taken. But it’s evident why this one was used by Karen to pay tribute to the late rapper. As you can see, Miller is leaning his head against his mom’s and making a funny face; she captioned the photo with a broken heart emoji. And she did so not long after Ariana Grande posted a similar tribute to her long-time boyfriend, a couple months after the stars split and about 48 hours after Miller was found dead. This is the photo Grande shared on social media: She did not pen a caption with it. Miller battled substance abuse issues for years prior to his passing. He was frequently open his addiction, just as Grande was open about the fact that Miller’s problems played a significant role in a relationship that eventually became too “toxic” for her to remain a part of. In the wake of Miller’s overdose, a handful of terrible Internet users dared to blame Grande for Miller’s fatal actions . They also wondered why Ariana did not immediately wrote anything online in response to the tragedy. As if it’s any of their business and as if we should ever judge anyone about how they mourn a loved one. On Friday evening, Miller’s family released a statement about the 26-year old’s death. It reads: “Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. “Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.” An endless array of musicians have since shared their own thoughts about Miller’s passing, but we’re going to note John Mayer’s message below. The artist only just posted it to Instagram late Saturday night and it stands out for its lengthy and personal nature. This is what Mayer wrote about Miller: This was going to be Mac Miller’s year. He made a quantum leap in his music. That’s incredibly hard to do, to evolve and get better and more focused while your career is already underway. You don’t get there without a lot of work, and Mac had put the work in. I didn’t expect to play on his album the day he played some songs for me at his house, but when I heard “Small Worlds,” I gave it a short, chirpy little “yup,” which is the highest praise I can give a track. It means we don’t need to say another word, it’s going down. I grabbed the nearest guitar in the room and within a couple of hours we had finished a tune that made me so incredibly happy to have a part in, not to mention we established a nice little friendship. He was so funny I just kind of stopped typing “LOL” back in our texts. Mac was, to me, on permanent LOL status. I gave him whatever guidance I thought I had the right to, having been through the press ringer in the past and wanting him to understand that none of that noise could ever really take a bite out of the music he was about to put out. The last time I saw him, he was playing Hotel Cafe’ in Los Angeles for a crowd of 100 people. He was nervous, and honest about it with the audience. I thought that was so endearing, especially seeing as he would go on to play one of the best sets I’d seen in a very long time. His band was unreal. You gotta know that if you weren’t familiar with Mac Miller, you were about to be, whether you would have seen him at a festival, or a friend was going to catch a show and tell everyone they knew about it (like I did.) Mac put in the work. He made his best album and formed the band that was weeks away from becoming a breakout live sensation. Believe me when I say that. On this night, Cardi B was not the only raptress in attendance. Nicki Minaj, who behind the scenes is her arch nemesis, was also at the Harper’s Bazaar soiree. It’s unclear how it all got started, who started it or why, but Cardi B ended up almost getting into a physical altercation with Nicki Minaj. From various videos that were posted, Cardi attempted to get at Nicki as best she could but the Barb was protected by security. There are rumors that Nicki’s friend, Rah Ali of Love and Hip Hop New York, defended her and actually got physical with Cardi. However, there aren’t any photos or videos to really support that theory. What we do know is that Cardi B took off her shoe and flung it at Nicki when Nicki refused to back away from the corner and fight her one on one. According to The Wall Street Journal , Colin’s deal with Nike is set to pay him a “top of the line” multiyear deal. This might be one way Kaepernick is making money for himself, considering he remains unsigned with an NFL team. The athlete is suing the NFL for colluding to keep him out of the league. With Colin’s new “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything” motto, Nike is hoping to reach 15 to 17 year olds, according to Nike’s vice president of brand for North America, Gino Fisanotti. He told ESPN , “We believe Colin is one of the most inspirational athletes of this generation, who has leveraged the power of sport to help move the world forward.” Not to mention, let’s not act like Nike doesn’t have a huge Black audience. So even if a mostly White community supports #NikeBoycott or if Nike’s stock has started to drop , there definitely will be a fan-base for Kaep’s “Just Do It” campaign. So for now, MAGA Twitter will have to stay mad.
J.D. Madison and Thomas Ravenel now have something in common. But it’s not friendship and it’s not a role on Bravo reality series Southern Charm. It’s the fact that each has been accused of sexual assault. We’ve documented in the past how Ravenel has been accused of raping both a nanny and a woman with whom he went on a date a couple years ago. The lead Southern Charm cast member has since announced that he will not be returning for Season 6. Now, People Magazine has confirmed that an incident report was filed in August 25 with the Mount Pleasant Police Department against South Carolina businessman Madison, who is pretty tight with Ravenel. He’s appeared multiple times on Southern Charm as a result. According to legal documents, allegations of rape, sexual assault and involuntary drugging have been leveled against Madison by a South Carolina female, whose name was redacted by authorities. The details are pretty disgusting. The alleged victim told police that the incident in question took place on August 21, 2017. She says that she was with Madison, his male friend and another female friend at her house for a drink prior to heading out to a local bar. While there, she alleges that Madison intentionally broke a glass – and, as she cleaned it up, Madison “slipped a drug” in her already-poured beverage on the counter. The victim says that, after finishing the drink, she fell in and out of consciousness. Later, in the early hours of August 22, the woman says she awoke in the guest bedroom of her home where Madison was “forcibly raping and sodomizing her.” The attack supposedly stopped after Madison received a phone call from his wife. Then there’s this addendum to the story: FITSNews has identified the male with Madison and the alleged victim that night as Jay Schwartz, a local chiropractor. He was arrested on drug charges this same evening. Mount Pleasant are reportedly investigating these charges, while Bravo is yet to issue a comment. The allegations against Madison come three months after allegations of sexual assault were brought against Ravenel by “Nanny Dawn,” who was featured Southern Charm caring for Ravenel’s two children with ex Kathryn Dennis. Another unnamed woman also brought a similar charge against the Wealthy Charleston resident. Ravenel is currently under investigation by South Carolina police. He dropped out of the show this month admist these scandals , defiant in his statement and adamant that only Bravo producers had done anything wrong. “I’m not doing the show anymore,” Ravenel Tweeted, adding: “In the contract they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back.” This guy sucks so much. And even if J.D. Madison never faces any charges for what he’s accused of above, we feel confident in saying he sucks a lot, too.
It’s been over a month since Demi Lovato suffered a heroin overdose that nearly claimed her life. During that time, the singer has been proactive about seeking the sort of treatment that might prevent her from coming so close to tragedy a second time. These days, Lovato is in rehab, and sources say she’s fully devoted to the hard work of recovery. Not only has Demi checked herself into an in-patient treatment facility in Arizona, she’s also been making regular trips to Chicago to meet with the team of therapists who helped her to get sober for the first time, six years ago. Of course, in some respects, it’s easier for someone in Demi’s position to put everything on hold in order to focus on self-care. After all, most addicts don’t have the luxury of taking months off work and checking into a pricey rehab center. But in other ways, Lovato’s battle with substance abuse is complicated by her wealth and fame. Sources close to the pop star say all the touring and performing made it easier for her to fall back in with the wrong crowd, and it was reportedly one of Demi’s backup dancers who provided her with the drugs on which she overdosed. Now that Demi is taking a break from presiding over a one-woman media empire in order to focus on herself, she has to trust that the people she’s hired will uphold their responsibilities in her absence. And sadly, it seems she may have placed her trust in the wrong people. “Her bodyguards have taken over her house,” a neighbor of Demi’s told Radar Online this week. “They’re the same two men who are with her around-the-clock when she’s home,” the source adds. “They have been living at her house since she was hospitalized. The insider says not only do the men appear to be treating the property as their own, they’ve also invited multiple female guests to join the party. “They’re there and so are two women who are possibly their girlfriends or wives,” the source adds. “Demi must really trust them because these two men have taken over her house completely and haven’t left since she was hospitalized.” Unfortunately, it seems there’s little that can be done about the situation, as Demi placed her trust in her bodyguards, and no one wants to alarm her with reports of their behavior.
