Iggy Azalea has been on the receiving end of some serious criticism in recent months. Some of it might stem from the fact that society of finally getting sick of having the hook from “Fancy” stuck in its collective head, but some of the complaints about Iggy speak to much larger issues: Rappers such as Azealia Banks have slammed Iggy for what they feel is a lack of empathy for the culture from which she profits. Iggy’s accent (one part Vanilla Ice, two parts overcompensating Juggalo) has received surprisingly little attention in the debate over her place in hip hop. That changed yesterday when Eve and Jill Scott appeared on Sway’s Sirius radio show. Asked what she dislikes most about Iggy’s music, Eve replied: “The blaccent. Is that horrible? She’s from a different place.
