Just when we thought we’d seen it all… Man Implants Electronic Chip Into His Arm To Become A Robot A Pittsburgh man has taken his quest to achieve his childhood dreams of becoming a robot a little too far. via Fox News Kids, don’t try this at home: A self-described “biohacker” had a big electronic chip almost as large as a deck of cards inserted beneath the skin of his arm. Without a doctor’s help. And without anesthetics. Tim Cannon is a software developer from Pittsburgh and one of the developers at Grindhouse Wetware. The device Cannon had inserted into his arm is a Circadia 1.0, a battery-powered implant that can record data from Cannon’s body and transmit it to his Android mobile device. Because no board-certified surgeon would perform the operation, Cannon turned to a DIY team that included a piercing and tattoo specialist who used ice to quell the pain of the procedure. Now that the device is inserted and functioning, Cannon is one step closer to achieving a childhood dream. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been telling people that I want to be a robot,” Cannon told The Verge. “These days, that doesn’t seem so impossible anymore.” The Circadia chip isn’t particularly advanced: All it does is record Cannon’s body temperature and transmit it to his cellphone over a Bluetooth connection. This is crazy . Forced Sex Victim Made To Marry Boy Against Her Will Poor girl. She had her childhood innocence taken away and now this. According to Mail Online A six-year-old Indian girl who was locked in a room and forced to have sex is being required to marry the eight-year-old son of her alleged attacker. The victim, who lives in the village of Keshavpura, in Rajasthan, was attacked by the 40-year-old around two weeks ago, it is claimed. Instead of going to police, her family complained to council elders who held a meeting to decide what should happen to the alleged man who had forced sex with her. Astonishingly, they then told the girl’s parents that their daughter must marry her attacker’s eight-year-old son. Meanwhile, the girl is believed to have been forced to have sex by the same man again on Wednesday, according to NDTV. The victim’s family has refused to accept the elders’ decision. The man was arrested and an investigation has been launched into the allegations against the council elder. A police spokesman said: ‘He locked her in a room and raped her. A Swedish sociology professor has nominated NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden for the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize, according to reports. In his letter addressed to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Stefan Svallfors praised Snowden for his “heroic effort at great personal cost.” He stated that by revealing U.S. surveillance programs, Snowden showed “individuals can stand up for fundamental rights and freedoms.” Citing the Nuremberg trials of 1945, Svallfors notes that “‘I was just following orders’ is never an excuse for acts contrary to human rights and freedoms.” He also says Snowden “save the prize from the disrepute incurred by the hasty, ill-conceived decision” to give the 2009 award to Barack Obama. The head of the International Committee of the Russian State, Duma Aleksey Pushkov, says the U.S. won’t let Nobel Peace Prize go to Snowden. Nevertheless, his mere nomination speaks volumes, he says: “Not in a million years will the U.S. allow Snowden to get the Peace Prize. But his nomination is significant. Many in the West see him as a champion of democracy.” The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded since 1901 to individuals who “shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations.” The list of criteria also includes working toward “abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.” Edward Snowden isn’t be the first Nobel nominee of his kind. Just last year, Bradley Manning , the U.S. soldier accused of passing secret materials to WikiLeaks, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. In 2011, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was nominated. Snowden’s nomination is expected to be reviewed by the committee for next year’s prize. The 30-year-old nominee is wanted in the U.S. on espionage charges. He fled American soil for Hong Kong in May and then flew to Moscow, Russia, where he has been stuck in an airport transit zone for three weeks. Reality star Anna Benson is in jail in Marietta, Ga., for allegedly breaking into her estranged husband’s home and threatening him with a gun . It turns out this is not the ex-stripper’s first run-in with the law. In 1996, Anna Benson (then Anna Warren) lived in a rundown Tennessee apartment that was adorned with satanic graffiti and anti-police messages. At 19, Anna was reportedly the subject of a sweeping manhunt after an 18-year-old man named Michael Evans was murdered in that apartment. The newspaper reports that the troubled youngster fled town when she and then boyfriend Paul Dejongh were charged with the murder of Evans. She was captured five months later and charges against her were eventually dropped, the New York Daily News reports, citing court records. “She got away with murder ,” Evans’ father, Michael Evans Sr., said. The same year her charges were dropped, Anna reportedly met MLB pitcher Kris Benson at the strip club she worked at, and the two wed in 1999. Things worked out pretty well for a time, but in 2012, Kris filed for divorce and the two have been struggling through their messy split ever since. Their arguing reached a boiling point last week when Anna was arrested on after she allegedly modeled a bulletproof vest and burst into Kris’ home. According to a police, Anna smashed his computer with a metal baton and wore an ammo belt, which police later found when they searched her. They also found that she had a knife with her. Kris claims Anna made it known she had a gun and demanded he pay her $30,000. He appeased her by claiming he was going to get the money. At that point he escaped and called police. Kris currently has custody of the couple’s three children, and, according to reports, he also helped her raise her daughter from a previous marriage.

The cable network today announced that it has renewed its long-running hit for another 10 episodes, with Programming President Michael Lombard saying in a statement: “True Blood remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers. Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV.”

Jim Carrey (who spoke out recently on the violence of Kick-Ass 2 ) , Chloe Morentz, Aaron Tyler-Johnson, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all have that “don’t cross me or I will mess you up” look in their eyes, which is about right given their roles. I like it. Not going to lie, I’m a little curious as to what is up with the paint splatter thing they’ve got going there, but overall, it’s a great poster. Kick-Ass 2 opens on August 16th. The mother of 2-year-old cancer patient Hazel Hammersley playfully posted a sign made of medical tape in the window of her daughter’s hospital room that read “SEND PIZZA.” Never did she expect that someone would photograph the SOS, then post it on Reddit, where users pooled together to grant the request for the toddler and her family. And then some. So overwhelmed was the hospital by random pizza deliveries from across the United States that the family had to politely call off the request for pies! It came as a welcome respite from the toddler’s difficult fight ahead. Hazel, affectionately known as “Hazelnut,” was diagnosed with high-risk, stage 3 neuroblastoma in April and will require 18 months of treatment. Her mother Lauren said the family merely put up the sign to pass the time and try to have some fun and perhaps brighten up a stranger’s day. It ended up making the day for Hazel , as well as a number of other courageous kids battling against all odds at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. Lauren wrote on the family’s blog, Our Little Hazelnut: “We began hearing news that several pizzas were being delivered to the hospital.” “After only a few short hours, we were told that someone had taken a picture on the street of our sign, had posted it to Reddit and it had reached #1!!” “Hazel woke up from her nap to the smell of pizza and was so excited! Several other children and nurses came into the room, with music playing, and had themselves a wonderful Pizza Party.” “We have been absolutely humbled by the outpouring of love and support … and can only hope and pray that this brings awareness to Neuroblastoma and the Childhood Cancer Community.” Well done, Internet. Very well done on this one.
Gabrielle Union Admits Losing ‘Scandal’ Role To Kerry Washington Earlier this week, BET premiered a new scripted series titled “Being Mary Jane,” which stars Hollyweird banger Gabrielle Union. But while there has been much hype surrounding Gabby’s new role on a show that is all her own, she recently revealed that she’d also been passed up for another starring role as Olivia Pope in ABC’s ‘Scandal,” which currently a role played by none other than her fellow Black Hollywood actress Kerry Washington. via US Weekly BET is giving Gabrielle Union her very own Scandal. The 40-year-old actress is starring in the new movie/TV series Being Mary Jane, which is set to premiere as a two-hour special on Tuesday, July 2 on BET — and become a series in January 2014. For Union, landing the lead role in the new BET show is a big career win. In an interview with The Associated Press, the Deliver Us From Eva actress revealed that she lost the lead role on ABC’s Scandal to Kerry Washington. “I said to myself, ‘Oh my God, these roles are out there.’ It showed me that you don’t have to settle. Luckily, the success of her and the show bred more work,” she explained. “Just from the audition process, I knew that I couldn’t go backward.” “I didn’t get Scandal, but I got something better — which is my own show,” Union added. “It’s all about building a legacy. This new opportunity is something I feel that can grow.” Hmmm…we’re thinking both Gabby and Kerry landed exactly where they were supposed to, and as a result there are now two shows with African-American actresses in starring roles where there might have only been one so it all seems to have worked out.
