Florida Wife Threatens To Kill Herself, Kids, And Husband After Cheating Texts Are Revealed A fight over two cell phones containing potentially incriminating messages led to the arrest of a wife on a charge of aggravated assault of her husband, according to police reports. The husband said he returned from a trip to Peru and found two hidden cell phones at home with messages about wanting to leave and being in love. When he confronted his wife and he threatened to seek a divorce, she allegedly became enraged and began kicking the door he was behind and screaming. The couple’s two children, ages 7 and 10, were home at the time, according to police reports. At 10:58 a.m. Friday, she allegedly got a knife from the kitchen. According to the reports, the husband said she “raised the knife above her shoulder and stated I’m going to kill you and the children and myself.” Police responded to a 911 call that hung up. Lina Husein, 30, of the 7800 block of Long Cove Way, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault without intent to kill. She was handcuffed and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail. An annual Easter egg hunt in central Georgia has been canceled after organizers say parents became violent while trying to collect eggs for themselves and their children in past years. This will be the first time in years that the Easter Bunny won’t be visiting children during the annual egg hunt at Central City Park in Macon, traditionally one of the largest Easter events in central Georgia. Bibb County Commissioner Joe Allen tells The Telegraph of Macon that liability concerns led to the cancellation. Allen is founder and CEO of Kids Yule Love, which coordinated the event. Allen said he canceled this year’s hunt because parents caused children to be hurt. Man vs. beast, man vs. man, man vs. corporation, man vs. himself — The Hunter takes all these pretty ladies out for a spin, but can’t seem to decide which one to bring home. The set-up is so swift it could easily pass you by: Martin (Willem Dafoe) is contracted by a shady outfit to bag a Tasmanian tiger, presumed extinct, in the Australian wilderness. Rumor has it there’s one left out there, and what better reason to fully extinguish a species than in the name of pharmaceutical patent? Martin appears to have no particular feeling about this assignment; as long as his toiletries are properly lined up and he’s left alone, he doesn’t appear to have a particular feeling about much of anything. Martin’s inscrutability is both a key element of all the above-listed plotlines and the reason no one of them is fully realized. Billeted in a remote Tasmanian home with two young children who have a missing father and a grieving mother (Frances O’Connor) who dopes herself through the days, Dafoe’s character is prepped for a transfusion of warmer, more human blood early on. Sass (Morgana Davies) is the big sister with the foul mouth and matter of fact attitude, Bike (Finn Woodlock) is the mystical mute little brother who draws pictures of Tasmanian tigers (a striking mix of jungle cat and mountain wolf) and seems to know more about his father’s whereabouts than he lets on. Both are utterly irresistible, and with their mother MIA they launch a full charm offensive, even jumping in the tub with Martin after he finally gets a broken generator — and some hot water — flowing again. Scene by scene The Hunter , adapted from a novel by Julia Leigh, holds your attention like a pair of big, inquisitive eyes, or perhaps the point-blank scope of an automatic rifle. Director Daniel Nettheim finds a smooth, confident rhythm that almost carries the underdeveloped story (by Alice Addison and Wain Fimeri) across the finish line. In his new home Martin is assimilated into the children’s sprawl whether he likes it or not, and eventually he is moved to help their mother get back on her feet. In town he is inducted into the local dispute between the loggers and the “greenies,” a group of activists attempting to stop the exploitation of the land. Sam Neill plays a fixer of sorts, one with eyes for O’Connor’s fragile widow and a dubious connection to the company desperate for the Tasmanian tiger’s trophy glands. Strange things happen during Martin’s first trips into the wild: a shot is fired, a camera is rigged to monitor one of his traps, and a laser sight hovers near his head. The hunter is being hunted, but by whom? Martin’s moral awakening would seem to be the center of the story — “man” being the only constant in all of the available themes — where human attachments interfere with the mercenary thrust of science, progress, or just mechanical job-completion. And to an extent it is: He develops a protective interest in his host family, even searching for signs of their missing father, with whom he has more in common than it first appeared. But the self-reflective side of that process — specifically the point of Martin’s mission and his feeling about it — only gets cloudier the closer he gets to his target. And it’s not the good kind of fog, which is on ample display in the mood-enhancing veils of mist captured by cinematographer Robert Humphreys, among countless other gorgeously textured shots of the teeming Tasmanian landscape. The paradox of Martin’s character feels accidental, or at least unresolved: The more we evidence we get of a beating heart on the homefront, the more mysterious that heart seems out in the wilderness. Because the film alternates between Martin’s expeditions and furloughs, the contrast becomes starker as the film goes on, and it’s hard not to lose interest in a hunt whose stakes seem unclear to the hunter. The conflict that develops around the terms of his assignment is less convincing than it could have been, making for a rushed and unsatisfying, pseudo-nihilist climax. Still, Dafoe and Woodlock in particular have a few moments that transcend the plot holes surrounding them; in a movie with this much going for it there’s no shame in letting them take direct aim at your heart. Not, like, in the movie, but on the soundtrack at least? The singer said in a recent interview that she will release a new single in 2012, which set off speculation that she might join the impressive likes of past Bond movie singers Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey, Duran Duran, Madonna, Garbage and Jack White with Alicia keys as the sound of the upcoming 23rd 007 flick, “Skyfall.” Speaking to France’s NRJ radio, Adele said a “new song is coming out probably by the end of the year.” Though no news has been announced, British oddsmakers have been saying that Adele is the favorite to provide the all-important title tune to the next Bond adventure, which is due in theaters on November 9. In the meantime, the singer also revealed that she doesn’t expect to have a follow-up to her global smash 21 in stores for several years. “If I didn’t write my own songs, I’d be out next week with a new album,” she said. “I have to take time and live a little bit. There were a good two years between my first and second albums, so it’ll be the same this time.” With 21 still resting comfortably near the top of charts all around the world thanks to global sales in excess of 20 million, the singer said she’s not worried about capturing that same magic in a bottle the next time around. “I don’t think I’ll feel the pressure for the next album to be as big as the last one because I know that’s not really possible,” she said. “What’s happened with this album is very rare anyway.” Adele may have given a small preview of what the next album will sound like, though, when she revealed that her dream duet partner would be Beyonc

No was one given the boot — that’ll happen Tuesday night (April 3) with the second elimination of the season — but the theme was “most memorable year,” and the celebrity contestants got deep and personal. And then some. At the top of the pack was singer Katherine Jenkins , who took us back to 1996 — the year she learned her dad had lung cancer. She and her partner Mark Ballas did the waltz, and by the end of the routine, she was in tears. And she wasn’t alone. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba cried with her and told her the dance was like magic. She scored the first pair of 10s of the season, earning 29/30 . Here’s how everyone else fared: William Levy and Cheryl Burke The sexy soap star picked 1995, which was the year he arrived in the U.S. from his native Cuba. He told the story of his stepdad, who was a political prisoner before finding asylum in the States. His salsa impressed the judges. “You put a whole new meaning into free Willy!” head judge Len Goodman told him. 28/30 Maria Menounos and Derek Hough The TV host picked 1988 as her most memorable year. That’s when she was 10 years old and realized just how hard her Greek-immigrant parents worked to make a better life for their children. She did the rumba to a slow version of Madonna’s “Material Girl,” and the judges loved her sensual routine. Hard-to-please Goodman told her the dance was “a mix of the ballroom with a touch of the bedroom.” 27/30 Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd The football star picked 2010, which was when his best friend died of cancer. In his video before he performed live, he became teary-eyed, saying, “I can never get it out of my mind because he died in my arms.” He danced the rumba, and Inaba said she was touched by his story and performance. Goodman thought the dance was top-notch. 26/30 Jaleel White and Kym Johnson The moment old-school TV nerds have been waiting for: White picked the year he got to play Stefan Urquelle, the alter ego to his longtime nerdy character Steve Urkel on “Family Matters.” He took on the rumba, and the judges said that he was back in the game and improved greatly from last week’s performance. Judge Bruno Tonioli called him cool and smooth. 25/30 Roshon Fegan’s and Chelsie Hightower The Disney kid picked 1996, which is the year that he saw his idol and legend Michael Jackson onstage. He danced the samba, and Goodman said he had flair, but Inaba took issue with his timing, saying it was off. 25/30 Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy The actress picked 2010, the year that she fell and broke her back. She called the experience gut-wrenching and tearfully explained that following the accident, she could barely walk, much less dance. She danced the jive, and Goodman said she was back in the competition. 24/30 Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus The soul legend picked 1957 because it was the year of her first tour and the year she met James Brown. She said it was the beginning of her career education and that it was a happy memory, not a sad one. She did the foxtrot to a Sam Cook song — noting that Cook taught her about performing back in the day — and Inaba thought the dance was sensuous and soulful. Tonioli said he thought she performed it with grace. 24/30 Sherri Shepard and Val Chmerkovskiy The talk-show co-host picked 2005, the year her son Jeffrey was born, weighing only 1 pound, 10 ounces. She cried, saying that she was so thankful, considering that the prognosis at the time was that he might have cerebral palsy and paralysis. She danced the rumba, with Goodman saying he appreciated the emotion she put into the dance. 24/30 Jack Wagner and Anna Trebunskaya The actor picked a more recent year: 2011. He said that was the year he met a daughter — she’s 23 now — that he never knew he had. He danced the samba, crying still. Goodman said he like the rhythm and said it was his best dance so far. 24/30 Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff The singer picked 1998 because he moved to New York City that year to give it a go as a musician. MTV News looks back at the Florida teen’s killing and the month that followed. By Gil Kaufman Trayvon Martin Photo: AP It’s been more than a month since 17-year-old high school student Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by self-appointed neighborhood-watch captain George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, on February 26. Since the case burst onto the national consciousness over the past month, there have been protests, unending questions about the facts in the incident, a national debate about the wearing of hoodies and plenty of reaction from the hip-hop community about what other issues may be beneath the surface of the shooting. “There is a general understanding from society that the law will work when it is supposed to and, when the facts support one understanding of a crime, that the law will do what it is supposed to do to make sure everyone is vindicated in the way they should be,” said Donald F. Tibbs, associate professor of law at Drexel University’s Earle Mack School of Law. Tibbs, who focuses on the intersection of race, law, civil rights and criminal procedure, told MTV News that one reason the case has created such an uncomfortable feeling for some is that the facts so far seem to suggest that Zimmerman shot an unarmed teen for no apparent reason and that “most people’s sense is that once you kill someone, you’re arrested by the police … [but in this case] he shot and killed someone and the police let him go. Not because of anything we know based on objective evidence, they let him go on his word that he acted in self-defense.” Witnesses have emerged who claim that Martin attacked Zimmerman on the night of the shooting, which police officials have said bolsters their decision not to arrest the shooter. However, others who claim to have seen the alleged scuffle have said Zimmerman appeared unhurt afterward and that they did not see Martin act in an aggressive manner. If that’s all it takes — telling police that you didn’t commit a crime — then Tibbs wondered how anyone gets arrested. Police have the right to arrest someone and prosecutors the right to pursue a case, but, Tibbs said, “It never stops at the very beginning [of the process]. It has to get started before prosecutors stop it.” If Zimmerman were to eventually be charged in the case, Tibbs speculated that he could be hit with first-degree homicide or perhaps manslaughter if there were evidence he fired during the commission of an act in which he was provoked. “People are drawn to this case for a variety of reasons,” he said. “Questions of young black men who are called suspicious for doing nothing but minding their business, police failing to do their job, the racial bias by police officers against a young black man, questions about the criminal justice system not working … people wanting to feel the system of justice is right … [and a sense] that the story Zimmerman is telling just doesn’t sound right.” Here’s a timeline of the events in the Martin case: February 26 : Martin is found shot and killed, with several eyewitnesses telling police they heard a fight, then a cry for help and a gunshot. Zimmerman, 28, is seen standing over Martin’s body while wielding a handgun and reportedly sporting a bloody nose and a wound on the back of his head. Martin is pronounced dead at the scene, and police find no weapons on him, just a bottle of iced tea and a bag of Skittles. Martin claims he killed Martin in self-defense and police do not arrest him or administer a drug or alcohol test. March 9 : Martin’s family demands the release of the 911 tapes and/or the arrest of Zimmerman. A week later, Sanford Police Chief Billy Lee said there was no evidence to dispute Zimmerman’s assertion of self-defense. Police say they could not arrest the shooter because he was protected by the so-called “Stand Your Ground” law that allows Floridians to shoot someone they reasonably believe is threatening them and to stand put and use their weapon in such a situation. March 16 : Public outrage about the case begins to spread as a Change.org petition from Martin’s family asking for Zimmerman to be prosecuted gathers more than 250,000 signatures in its first few days. It currently has more than 2.2 million signatures. March 19 : Martin’s 16-year-old girlfriend tells the family attorney that she was on the phone with Trayvon when Zimmerman began following him and she heard pushing and then the phone line went silent. The U.S. Justice Department launches an investigation into the case. A day later, a Sanford PD spokesperson admits to ABC News that investigators may have overlooked a possible racist remark by Zimmerman — who has a Hispanic mother and white father — during a conversation with dispatchers in the moments before the killing of Martin, who is black. March 21 : Hundreds of people take to the streets of New York calling for justice in the Martin case during a protest dubbed the Million Hoodie March, so named because of Zimmerman’s assertion that his victim looked “suspicious” in his hooded sweatshirt. The protest was attended by Martin’s parents in their first public appearance since the shooting. Once the story began to make national headlines, members of the hip-hop community and artists including Spike Lee, Big Boi, Tichina Arnold, Wyclef Jean and Roots drummer ?uestlove began to rally their social-media followers to express outrage about the shooting. Police Chief Lee gets a “no confidence” vote from the city council on March 21. March 22 : Young Jeezy speaks to MTV News about the Martin killing, saying, “I feel very deeply as a community leader and as a product of my culture … I feel like we all got to get together and stop this, ’cause I have a son his age and I just feel like that could’ve been either of our children.” Police Chief Lee steps down temporarily from his post due to the mounting pressure over the case, and thousands rally in Sanford in an event organized by the Reverend Al Sharpton to demand Zimmerman’s arrest. Compton rapper Game tells MTV News that he believes a deeply rooted racial bias is behind the shooting. “I think that from the beginning of mankind, we as a people have always been targeted,” he said. “For some, reason people don’t think that they need any excuse to kill us, beat us, hit us, run us over, disrespect us or anything like that … I’m far from racist. I’m very educated and intellectual and I understand how life works and how people of all colors exist under the sun, but it just seems like more than not black people are, I don’t know, there’s always some negative occurrence that goes on in our existence. This is just another reminder that stupidity still exists.” March 23 : President Obama calls for an investigation into the incident during a White House press conference. “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon,” the president said. That same day, 50 schools in Florida hold walkout protests, and ?uestlove goes off on Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera for comments the veteran newsman made in which he said, “I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death as George Zimmerman.” March 25 : Zimmerman’s friend Joe Oliver says Zimmerman “couldn’t stop crying” after the shooting and was “extremely remorseful” about it. Oliver, who is black, also said he’s never seen evidence that Zimmerman harbors any racial bias. March 26 : Florida rapper Plies releases the tribute single “We Are Trayvon Martin,” featuring the lines, “I never thought wearing no hoodie could cost you your life/ And I never thought you could just kill somebody and get out the same night.” March 27 : Reports emerge that Martin had been suspended from school for possessing a baggie with traces of marijuana before he was shot. Police confirmed that Martin had no juvenile offender record and the victim’s family lashed out at what they said was an attempt to “kill” the teen’s reputation. March 28 : Nas, Killer Mike, Prodigy and Bun B drop in for an episode of “RapFix Live,” and Bun tells host Sway, “This is just another reminder of the world that we live in. … Unfortunately, it takes incidents like this terrible tragic murder of Trayvon Martin to bring this back to America’s consciousness.” Illinois Democratic Representative Bobby Rush is escorted from the floor of the House of Representatives after pulling on a hoodie and sunglasses in honor of Martin. March 29 : Though Zimmerman originally told police that Martin knocked him down with a punch to the nose and then slammed his head repeatedly into the ground, a police surveillance tape emerges from the night Martin was shot and shows no blood or bruises on Zimmerman. His brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., said medical records will prove his brother was attacked and that his nose was broken by Martin. March 30 : Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett said he overruled local police and prosecutors in ordering the release of the 911 tapes in the case in response to a request from Martin’s family. Like we all didn’t see this coming from a mile away… Octomom Nadya Suleman Is Now On Welfare According to TMZ reports : Octomom is doing what she swore she would never do — go on welfare … TMZ has learned. The mother of 14 is getting $2,000 a month from the State of California. The money is deposited directly into a special debit card account (see above). The card can ONLY be used for food — and it’s closely monitored by the State to make sure the cardholder isn’t making illegal purchases — i.e., buying a bike at Costco. It’s a cruel twist, for a woman who vowed in 2010 — a year after giving birth to octuplets — she would NEVER go on welfare, saying she refused to become “a self-fulfilling prophecy” by accepting government assistance. Octo qualified for the card because her income is less than $119,000 a year … and a family of 15 that makes less than that amount is entitled to welfare benefits. In case you’re wondering, the $119,000 figure is based on an average of just under $8,000 for each member of the household. The more kids, the more you can make and still receive welfare. We’re told the cash-strapped mom has taken her children out of private school, except for her one son who has autism, saving her $4,000 a month. And as we first reported, she’s even posing topless to make ends meet. But it just wasn’t enough. When you can’t referee another stripper boxing match, can’t take off any more clothes, can’t appear on any more talk shows, what do you do? ‘Bless you, Celine, but it does rather haunt me,’ the actress admits to MTV News of ‘My Heart Will Go On.’ By Fallon Prinzivalli Kate Winslet Photo: MTV News “Like throwing up.” That’s how Kate Winslet feels when she hears Celine Dion ‘s “My Heart Will Go On,” the once-inescapable theme to “Titanic.” “No, I shouldn’t say that,” Winslet added, thinking through her response before coming to this conclusion: “No, actually, I do feel like throwing up.” Since its release in 1997, the film has stuck with Winslet wherever she goes. It was the movie that helped her sky-rocket to the A-list, after all, and no one is likely to forget Dion’s iconic song from “Titanic,” set to be re-released in 3-D on April 4. “I wish I could say, ‘Oh listen, everybody! It’s the Celine Dion song!’ But I don’t,” Winslet admitted. “I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll.” Winslet went on to explain that every time she walks into a bar or a restaurant with a pianist, they never miss an opportunity to start playing the notes. “It’s thrilling for people to surprise me with the Celine Dion song,” she laughed. But they not only play the tune for her, they also encourage the Oscar winner to sing it herself. “I did a talk show recently in Italy and they actually had a live pianist who started gently playing the theme song. I was not even gently, rather severely, urged to go and sing it as though I had in fact sung it myself in the first place. It was like, ‘No! I’m not going to do that.’ They’re like, ‘Oh no, come on it will be funny.’ No, it won’t be funny. At all. And I’m not going to.” Unfortunately for the actress, it’s not just the theme song that haunts her. Whenever she boards a boat, she’s the butt of jokes. “Honestly, I actually now get onto boats and say, ‘No jokes, OK? No jokes. Can we just move on from that? And if you have any jokes, let’s just get them out of the way right now. Thank you. Anyone? Jokes, jokes? OK, moving on.’ And then they still tell jokes,” Winslet said. The most common joke is asking her to head to the front of the boat with them to reenact the iconic scene between hers and Leonardo DiCaprio ‘s characters on the rail. To that she replies, “Oh, yeah! Oh, that one! Oh, don’t worry, it’s my party piece. Sure, come on up, bring your granny.” But Winslet is actually an amazing sport about the jokes. She understands how deeply the film touched its audience. And now that it will be on the big screen again, it can reach a whole new generation — including her children who will see it for the very first time. “What’s negative about it? Really, nothing at all,” she said of the 3-D treatment. “It’s very different and much more present. It’s bigger — if you can believe that — but it is and you really do feel like you’re in it.” Audiences will be able to relive the tragic love story — or experience for the first time — when “Titanic” it hits theaters in 3-D on April 4. East We thought the MCR/Metallica matchup had the potential to be a blowout, and for a while, it looked like those predictions would be correct: MMM heavyweights My Chem surged to a huge lead over road-weary Metallica, though, as the hours wore on, Hetfield and company dug deep, and have been staging a furious comeback ever since. As of this afternoon, they still trail MCR by a fairly sizable amount (something like 12,000 votes), but the gap is closing by the minute. Do they have enough left in the tank to overtake My Chem, or will Gerard and the boys make MMM history and advance to their third-straight Final Four? We’ll just have to wait and see. West There’s a huge upset brewing out West, as #11 Adam Lambert has got defending MMM champs Green Day on the ropes. Somewhat surprisingly, this matchup has seen more votes cast than any other in the Elite 8, as the Glambert Nation has shown up in full to support their man. Barring a tremendous rally, it looks like Green Day are going to have to relinquish the trophy, which, given the fact they never bothered to pick it up in the first place, should actually be quite easy. Sort of like Lambert’s dominance up to this point. East The biggest MMM rematch in years — 2010 champs Coheed and Cambria once again facing off against eternal MMM bridesmaids Tokio Hotel, in a battle wrought with historical tension — has, instead, turned into a massacre. Though fans of both bands have been lobbing accusations of cheating (as much a MMM tradition as the trophy itself, it would seem), we’ve been monitoring this one closely … and, Tokio fans, you’re seemingly home free. With hours left, Tokio are pasting Coheed (to the tune of some 440,000 votes) and seem destined to return to the Final Four. Then again, as we’ve learned in the past, you can’t count Coheed’s Children of the Fence out — but sufficed to say, they’ve got their work cut out for them if they want to help their favorite band advance. South The first #1 vs. #2 matchup in Musical March Madness history has most definitely lived up to the advance billing, as top-seeded Evanescence and #2 Paramore have been slugging it out since polls opened. Early on, this one was as close as double digits though, as it stands now — with nearly 2 million votes cast — it’s Ev who hold the lead ( we see you, Amy Lee! ) Does the Para-clan have one more rally left in them, or will Evanescence run the table and become the first-ever #1 seed to make the Final Four? The hour is growing late, though we suspect this one isn’t over just yet. There are just hours remaining in the Musical March Madness Elite Eight! Can you lift your favorite band to the Final Four?
