After Peruvian officials announced Wednesday that Joran van der Sloot is the prime suspect in the death of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel, Chilean police confirmed he had entered their country two days earlier. Chilean Police Inspector Douglas Rodriguez in Arica told The Associated Press there was no record of van der Sloot leaving Chile and authorities were searching the country's dry, sparsely populated northern provinces for him. In Lima, police Gen. Cesar Guardia said at a news conference that the slain woman was found Wednesday in a room at a hotel where van der Sloot had been staying and that she had been seen with the suspect early Sunday, when she was killed. The killing occurred exactly five years after the May 30, 2005, disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway during a high school trip in Aruba, a Dutch Caribbean island where van der Sloot's late father was a prominent judge. Prosecutors said van der Sloot is still their main suspect in the case even though he was never charged. The Dutch government said Interpol issued an international arrest warrant for van der Sloot in the Peru killing. But Rodriguez, the Chilean police official, said authorities there had received only a request to locate the suspect, not an arrest warrant. Guardia, the Peruvian police general, said the 22-year-old Dutchman was in Peru for a poker tournament and appears with the dead woman in a video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday. The two were later seen entering the hotel by one of its employees about 5 a.m. and the Dutchman departed alone about four hours later, he said. “We have an interview with a worker at the hotel who says she saw this foreigner with the victim enter his room,” said Guardia. The woman's body was found face down on the hotel room floor Wednesday, abrasions on her face and body, and signs of trauma, Guardia said. He said she was clothed. Asked if she had been asphyxiated, Guardia said he was waiting for autopsy results on the cause of death. MORE ON LINK added by: 02

Shakira Unveils ‘Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)’

Track is the official song of the 2010 World Cup and will benefit public health centers in Africa. By James Montgomery Photo: JEWEL SAMAD/ AFP/ Getty Images Fresh off her duet with Rascal Flatts frontman Gary LeVox on Wednesday night’s “American Idol” , Shakira has unveiled yet another collaboration … this one set to take place on an even bigger stage (yes, that’s actually possible). On her official site , she’s just posted a track called “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which will serve as the official theme for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, set to kick off June 11 in South Africa. The track — a collabo between Shaki and South African Afro-fusion band Freshlyground — was co-produced by John Hill, who most recently produced a pair of songs from her 2009 album She Wolf. Like much of her work, it’s a poly-sonic affair: According to a statement on her site, the chorus of the song borrows from a favorite Cameroonian marching chant that was popularized by the group Golden Voices. Shakira and Freshlyground will perform “Waka Waka” at the World Cup closing ceremonies, held before the final match on July 11 in Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium. The song will be available for download through digital retailers the week of May 11, and will also be included on Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album, set to be released the week of May 31 by Sony Music Entertainment. A Spanish-language version of the track will also be available. Proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit FIFA’s “20 Centers for 2010” initiative, which aims to achieve positive social change through football (that’s “soccer” to us Americans) by building 20 “Football for Hope” public health centers across Africa. In addition to her performance at the closing ceremonies, Shakira will also be one of the headline performers at the official FIFA World Cup Kick-off Celebration Concert on June 10, broadcast from Orlando Stadium in Soweto/Johannesburg South Africa. A video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” is also set to debut in mid-May. Chilean Earthquake Shortened Earth’s Days

Link: http://rss.cnn.com/~r/rss/cnn_topstor… The 8.8 earthquake that hit Chile may have shortened a day on earth by 1.26 microseconds. All the moving rock and mass and stuff actually shifted the Earth's axis by 3 inches, which then affects how quickly the Earth rotates. FYI: we also lost 6.8 microseconds in the 2004 earthquake/tsunami combo. End days. Read

Elliott Yamin Stuck In Chile, Running Low On Insulin

Former ‘American Idol’ contestant was in Chile for a show when Saturday’s 8.8 earthquake struck. By Gil Kaufman Elliott Yamin Photo: Nick Spanos For now, Elliott Yamin is OK, but if he needs to stay in earthquake-ravaged Chile much longer, the diabetic former “American Idol” contestant might run into some problems. On Monday evening, almost three days after a massive 8.8 quake rattled the South American country, Yamin told his Twitter followers, “amazing outpour of support out there! … can’t thank yall enuff!! … I’m NOW DOING OK AS FAR INSULIN GOES! … no need 2 wrry.” The tweet came after Yamin told Fox News that he was starting to worry about his supply of insulin. “I am a Type 1 diabetic and I only packed enough insulin supplies for my pump to last a couple more days,” he said in one of the many interviews he’s done since Saturday’s massive tremor shook the country. The quake hit just hours after the season five third-place “Idol” finisher performed at a singing competition in the city of Vi
