At some point yesterday, the blogosphere got all excited over rumors that Meagan Good would be filling Stacey Dash ‘s “Single Ladies” vacancy. The rumors were a little vague: it wasn’t clear whether Meagan was being brought on to play Valerie or if a new character would be added to the mix for her. And of course, non of the parties involved had addressed it. Until today, when Meagan responded. “They haven’t contacted me..and if they do I’d only be coming on as recurring, (like I was on The Game)..I’m not ready to be a regular on a show, although I am developing a show myself I might star in.” Sorry Slide… Source
Sanaa Lathan chopped it up with Today’s Black Woman Style Report recently about love and career. And in her cover feature she inadvertently reveals the fact that she is currently on the market. And this is what she wants out of a relationship… Faithfulness, integrity, loyalty and honesty. It’s really important for me tovhave somebody who stimulates mevmentally. I love having long talks and laughing. Sounds pretty attainable for a plain-old non-Hollywood man, no? As for her career, Sanaa says what keeps her going is just as simple. Now, I don’t have to keep myself motivated. I just feel so appreciative to be doing what I’m doing and to have had the level of success that I’ve had. For me, my daily practice is of gratitude and constantly putting my focus on what’s going well. That’s code for “My bank account looks as good as I do.”
How cute is this guy and his little turtle bookbag?!?!?!? Here is LeBron James’ son Bryce on the first day of school. Thank goodness he doesn’t have a hairline like his daddy
Well, would you look at that? Somehow, being in one of the most made-for-drama-attention-and-reality-TV relationships in history has made Evelyn Lozada humble and reserved. She doesn’t even want her big day to be a big day. Lozada does not want to enter “the most glamorous, richest wedding of the century” competition, along with Kim Kardashian and Petra Ecclestone. On the contrary, she would prefer a more intimate ceremony. “I want something small, even though he wants something big”, the star confesses and gives her most important argument to support it: “I want something intimate. I’m 35, and we have five kids together. I don’t want anything over the top.” Yeah? We don’t see the good folks at VH1 and the suits in charge of Chad and Evelyn’s finances letting that go down. We finally have a statement from Stacey Dash about whether or not the alleged on-set foolery we’ve been hearing about is the reason she’s no longer on “Single Ladies!” … Or a new layer of confusion to add to the whole thing. Because Stacey’s saying she never got fired ; she quit. “I truly enjoyed playing Val on ‘Single Ladies’, but I have decided to leave the show. I have to be back in LA with my children right now and the ‘Single Ladies’ shooting location makes that impossible. I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show and in maintaining the strong fan base we developed in season one.” And VH1 does seem to have any qualms with that statement. “VH1 respects Stacey’s decision and her commitment to what she feels is best for her family. We thank her for all of her hard work in making ‘Single Ladies’ a success right out of the gate, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future plans.” Sounds like a settlement cum confidentiality agreement to us… Source
As big as Beyonce ‘s revelation at the VMAs may have been for the stans, MTV’s ratings and Hip-Hop as a whole, you know our excitement can’t begin to compare to what Mr. and Mrs. Knowles-Carter were feeling. The super-happy Bey and Jay you saw on-screen were probably still holding it in a little. But that all changed backstage. When Beyoncé returned backstage to her dressing room, she was greeted by a team of people who enveloped the visibly happy star with hugs, cheers and congratulations. “I’m free!” she said to one of the well-wishers, indicating that she and Jay are thrilled to not have to keep such a big secret any longer. “We’re all free!” she said to the group. A few minutes after her arrival backstage, she was joined by her husband, a very excited West (whose first words upon entering the dressing-room area were “Where is Beyoncé?” as if he could not wait to give B a huge hug) and her former Destiny’s Child ladies, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Even with the doors to their dressing rooms closed, the applause and whoops of joy could be heard everywhere backstage. “That was an eventful night, to say the least,” Jay, still smiling, said to some of the revelers in the hallway, who continued to shower him with congratulations and hugs. The couple reportedly thought about holding their happy news in a little longer, but according to one of her “friends,” Bey just couldn’t keep this one to herself anymore. She’s close to three months along,” an insider close to the music supercouple tells Us of the normally private star. “She wasn’t going to announce it but she is so excited she couldn’t hold it in.” And the first-time dad Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 41, is just as pumped. “Jay is ecstatic and over the moon,” the insider says. “He really wanted this so badly.” So far, the Grammy-winning duo haven’t found out the gender of their first child — and are keeping other details close to the vest. “They barely told anyone…They kept it really secret until they were sure,” the pal explains, “and now she simply couldn’t wait to tell the world!” The baby news does complicate their professional lives, though — shooting for Beyonce’s high-profile film project A Star Is Born has been delayed, while Jay-Z has a big-time tour to deal with. We don’t know how much weight to give this “source” though, because from looking at that belly, there’s no way Beyonce isn’t at least five months along. Plus, we KNOW Mama Tina wouldn’t let her be so public about a pregnancy before her first trimester was over. Click here for pics of Bey showing off her gut full of Hubby Hov last night. This is sad. After ten years, 9/11 victim Ernest James has become the 1,629th person to have his remains identified. The New York City medical examiner’s office said on Tuesday that it had identified the remains of Ernest James, 40, a victim of the World Trade Center attack. The remains were identified “within the last few days” through DNA testing, said Ellen S. Borakove, a spokeswoman for the office. She declined to disclose more specifics about what type of remains were tested. Mr. James, an IT specialist who worked for the professional services company Marsh & McLennan, was one of nearly 300 members of the firm who died on Sept. 11, 2001. In addition, more than 60 consultants working with the firm that morning also died. A spokesman for the company said, “We continue to mourn their loss and honor their memory.” James’ loved ones say they had accepted his death the day of the attack. “When I couldn’t reach him,” said his fiancée, Monique Keyes, “I pretty much, deep inside, knew.” Asked for her memories of Mr James as the anniversary of his death approached, Miss Keyes said: “He just loved to make you laugh”. So far, Ms. Borakove said, officials in her agency’s DNA/World Trade Center Identification Group have identified 1,629 of the people who died in the attack. Before Mr. James, the most recent identification of human remains was made in May. Ms. Borakove said efforts to identify remains would continue. “As long as there is technology available, doctors have made a promise that we would continue to try to identify people,” she said. Can you imagine how it must feel to be one of Ernest’s family members? Trying to recover from his death and then having it rehashed all over TEN YEARS LATER because that’s how long it took to identify his remains. There may still be some degree of relief though, by at least having him identified and potentially being able to hold a burial. R.I.P. Ernest James and the thousands of other victims of the terrible tragedy. Source Source 2
In case you missed it, the editors at Vogue Italia lost their rabbit a** minds last week and promoted a trend they called “Slave Earrings” . They even included a description that included the sentence “If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of color who were brought to the southern United States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom.” When the world reacted appropriately to the ridiculousness, Vogue.it changed the caption on the article to “Ethnic Earrings”… as if that made it better. Their editor even tried to claim that the word they used in Italian that was translated to “Slave” really did mean “ethnic style”… And if you think that’s pure bulls***, Iman agrees with you. I’m a huge fan of Franca Sozzani and Vogue Italia’s website because they have a whole section on black models. Is it controversial? Yes. The naming of it, I don’t get it. I sometimes wonder in this age of reality shows has it become part of the language-the more controversy the more [buzz] it creates. But yeah, I didn’t like it. Slave does not make it ethnic. Mind you, it’s not lost in translation-the word slave, we know what it is. They might as well have called them “n**** earrings.” For somebody like Franca Sozzani, who did that whole black issue for Vogue, somebody should have said something. Every time you think we’ve taken a step forward… Source
Look at little Tamera looking all sexy and junk. According to the brief q & a that accompanied the Tamera’s spread for Regard Magazine, she attributes her brand new marriage for bringing out her inner sex kitten. We’re not mad at her at all. Continue for more photos.
In case you still needed clarification about what happened between 50 and Chelsea Handler last year, someone asked her about it again this week. And this week the answer is: CH: We were friends. We’re not friends really anymore. I haven’t spoken to him in a while… We had sex. SR: How was that? CH: It was fun. I’ve told other people. Don’t feel special. So there you have it: Bugsy was no more than that white lady’s jump-off. Source
