Jill Scott shocked more than a few folks on Twitter today when she asked her followers for their thoughts on open relationships and revealed that she’s considering taking part in one of her own. SMH! Jill’s followers quickly objected to the idea and she responded and retweeted of their thoughts, but still continued the discussion. Sounds like Jill isn’t gonna let anybody else’s thoughts on the subject dictate her personal feelings… But there were a few other famous folks who let their thoughts be heard. Well here’s an interesting Winehouse tidbits. According to a new report, Amy Winehouse was in the process of adopting a little girl from St. Lucia. As a matter of fact, Amy was supposed to be heading back to the island next week to visit 10-year-old Dannika, who was “living in poverty with her mother” before Amy started looking out for her. She had even hired lawyers to start working on the adoption and everything. Devastated Dannika said: “Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me. “She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”
Ruh-Roh… Since marrying her boo Memphitz last month Toya has stopped going by Antonia Carter and has been using Memph’s last name — Wright– instead. But shortly after a visit to Atlanta’s V103 radio station for an interview with DJ Greg Street, *somebody* had the audacity to suggest she may have made a mistake. @Toya Wright Memph is my dog but you gotta change your last name back to Carter. What can a lil flirt hurt right?? If you think flirting will help you get ahead, think again. We’ve all done it. A seductive smile while negotiating a big purchase. Flirtatious banter with your cubicle neighbor or morning barista. That certain suggestive lilt that enters your voice when asking for help with a project. Those adept at the subtle art of flirting know that batting their lashes or casting a longing look can be a form of social power, sometimes useful in securing an advantage or ally. Career experts like Nicole Williams, author of “Girl on Top,” advocate using every tool available to you to gain an edge in the workplace. Although it often goes unspoken, many executives agree. “Flirting?” asked one woman. “I call it efficiency.” How can one tell the difference between two people who relate to one another having a pleasant conversation and two people intimating that they want to bump uglies? Well psychologist Simon Rego, director of the Cognitive Behavior Therapy Program at Montefiore Medical Center in New York defines it for us: “Flirting is the suggestion of the possibility, but not the probability, of something sexual occurring between two individuals,” says But sometimes flirting may have reverse effects that one may not have forseen. According to Rego, the danger arises from misreading the context and the other person’s perspective. “In a bar, it will be perceived differently than being pulled over for speeding,” he notes. But flirting with a police officer to get out of a ticket is at least worth a try, right? Not necessarily, says Rego. An officer who might have been willing to give you a break before, may be insulted by the obvious manipulation, thinking: You think I’ll bend the rules for a little bit of flirting? Suddenly, they’re more apt to put you in your place. The workplace is especially ripe for misunderstandings or harsh judgments. David Nour, author of Relationship Economics, says he frequently observes employees flirting to improve their position, be it a salesperson trying to build preference with a buyer or a professional hoping to gain priority on a project or land a promotion. Yet misreading the flirtee can result in questions about your intentions, credibility and character. At the very least, it could undermine the foundation of trust between you and your supervisor. Even worse, you may end up on the receiving end of unwanted advances, warns Nour. “Flirting at work is simply dangerous and very career limiting.” What do you think? And we think that’s exactly what’s going on with Rih Rih and Matty Poo: she was too crazy busy for him to keep her in the wifey spot. But that doesn’t mean the whole situation got deaded. “She’s a good friend of mine,” Kemp, 26, told Us Weekly Wednesday night at ESPYs in L.A. “We’re good.” So there’s no bad blood between the exes? “No, not at all,” he said. “We’ve all got busy lives and we’re working on our careers and concentrating on our careers. One of your parents’ favorite singers delivered a stellar performance at the 2011 Essence Music Festival on Saturday. She also dropped a bombshell about her drug use… something we might have guessed, but wouldn’t have expected her to be so honest about. Do you know who it was? Chaka Khan made her show at the Superdome on Saturday quite the experience for her fans. Taking to the main stage in the New Orleans Superdome after El Debarge, the 58-year-old not only treated fans to a high-energy performance but touched on her past drug addiction in the midst of her musical set, which included ‘I Feel For You,’ ‘Through the Wire,’ ‘I’m Every Woman’ and ‘Aint Nobody.’ Although Khan’s performance set may have been lighthearted, when it came to the matter of her road to recovery from drug addiction, she sang a different tune. “This next song is a song I wrote but I don’t remember writing it because I was high,” she admitted of the song [‘Angel’]. “That was then, this is now, I’m seven years clean.” Seven years though?
