Selena Gomez gets to have sex with Justin Bieber whenever she wants to. So there’s really not a lot this young superstar needs for her birthday. On life in general, for that matter. But it’s still worth sending some love and some best wishes to Selena today… because she’s turning 20 years old! It’s been another extremely successful year for the artist, who left music behind a bit and starred in three movies. She plans on going off on a new tour and recording a new album in the near future. In the meantime, she’ll settle for helicopter dates with her very attractive boyfriend. We hope Gomez has a terrific, safe birthday and we honor her here with a photo montage:
After Perry tweeted that she’s changed up her locks (again), MTV News remembers her more daring ‘dos. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Steve Granitz/ Getty Images Breaking news: Katy Perry has changed her hair again! The singer took to Twitter to announce that she’s found a new hair color, but her fans will have to wait to find out what it is. “You know what’s great about having poison oak?! NOTHING #itchgasm Somehow in the middle of all this… I found time to change my hair color,” she wrote. “Finally… #takeaguess #foreverawalkingpantonepalette.” Despite not sharing too much about her hair color, she did offer up this tidbit of a tease about her current look: “Pretty stoked about my 90’s The Craft meets Garbage meets Tank Girl meets early No Doubt meets Ty from Clueless lewk 4 dis wknd #ohmygoth.” Perry had famously been sporting berry-blue hair since January, changing the hue and length but maintaining indigo as the base, strutting her blue self all over carpets, hitting up events and wearing it in an ad campaign for Adidas . “Of course, being Katy, she is a lot more edgy and she’s cooler and she likes to take a lot of risks. And I love that she’s like, ‘I’m feeling a little blue, let’s go blue’ — not in her energy, just in her hair color,” Perry’s hair colorist , Rita Hazan, explained to MTV News. “I felt like it’s the perfect color for her, because her eyes are blue and she has the perfect skin tone to be a really vibrant, really cool, intense blue.” Now, it seems that Perry has once again changed up her look — and Hazan said that’s just Katy being Katy. “She’s kind of this candy-coated sort of person,” Hazan said. “It’s nice to see her experiment with different things.” Fans might have to wait to see what Perry’s latest look is, but to tide you over, MTV News has rounded up some of Perry’s wildest, most memorable hairstyles — so far. 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards Perry kept it traditionally Katy, sporting what happens to be her signature look: black hair with cropped, Bettie Page-style bangs. To make the look even more Perry-fied, she graced the carpet in a multicolored, sparkly, showgirl-style bodysuit and sparkly heels. 2011 Grammys In a particularly glam moment, Perry softened her sometimes-severe hair and went for soft waves. Sure, it was still jet-black, but the middle part and the curls fit the occasion, giving her a truly old school Hollywood look, certainly matching her angelic ensemble. “Smurfs” Premiere Later in 2011, Perry began to get more and more experimental with her hair color. Transitioning out of the black, Katy hit up the “Smurfs” red carpet in July surprisingly not in blue hair, but in an ombre look that faded from blonde to strawberry blonde. She paid homage to Smurfette by donning a sequined dress with the character’s image on it. 2011 VMAs Pulling a completely funky move on her way through the rainbow, shortly after the “Smurfs” premiere, she hit up the VMAs in late August with piercing pink hair. It was a look she adopted right before going blonde and then settling on the blue. Dressed up like a couture geisha, Perry’s lavender-hued pink was flirty and fun. 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards Throwing her blue hair for a loop, Perry hit up the Kids’ Choice Awards last month with a multihued ponytail. With touches of purple and blue, the neon hair recalled lots of the colors she had been sporting over the last few months, serving as the perfect farewell to this phase of her hair evolution. Plus, it just happened to go perfectly with her bright-green outfit. Do you have a favorite Katy Perry hair look? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Katy Perry
Here’s 30 Rock hottie Katrina Bowden at some party the other day letting everyone know what a hot little pink dress is supposed to look like. This chick is pretty damn perfect if you ask me, I bet she’s never paid for a drink in her life, she’s just that hot. I know she only gets about ten seconds of air time per episode, but I look forward to those precious moments every week. Besides, ten seconds with this hottie is all I’d need.
Here’s all around cutie Victoria Justice looking as sexy as ever on the red carpet over the weekend. I’m not sure anything screams Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards quite like a pant suit. Eesh. At least she decided to sex it up a bit with some hot business short shorts…. I know they’re business short shorts because my business has just sprung to attention. #creepythingsyoushouldntsayatthekidschoiceawards
Russell Brand is doing well, thank you. Returning to his roots – bachelorhood, plus standup comedy – is the ideal way to move on from his marriage to Katy Perry , which ended this winter after 14 months. To hear Russell tell it, he has no reason not to be well. Waxing philosophical about life, he says, “You don’t need to brush it off if you don’t get it on you in the first place,” he says, not specifically defining what “it” is. The 36-year-old sounds downright zen in adding, “I don’t have to let anything go. I don’t hold on to anything negative. It’s the same as zero-ness.” Asked if that’s part of his yoga philosophy , Brand notes. “It’s not about letting it go,” he says. “You can’t let go of something you don’t hold, you know. It’s meaningless, [and] much of our world is predicated on meaninglessness. And I just don’t do that anymore.” As for his upcoming late-night show, which is due later this year on FX? “It’s a standup comedy show. We’ll talk about current affairs and analyze and deconstruct the media of the day and approach news from a humanitarian and spiritual angle, whilst keeping it simultaneously and continuously humorous.” It will be Brand’s first major foray into American TV, though he’s done guest spots and hosting gigs such as the MTV Video Music Awards. Two weeks ago, Brand also made news when he was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly grabbing a photographer’s iPhone and tossing it. That, too, he says, is “meaningless to me. It’s like it never happened. It’s meaningless.” And reports that he’s had a “Katy Perry” tattoo removed? “Nope,” he says. “Never had a tattoo removed. Never happened.” This concludes our Russell Brand update. It’s been a good one!

‘The atmosphere I grew up in was 100 percent church,’ singer says in new promo for the film. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images Since first announcing she’d be starring in her own 3-D concert movie, “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” Katy Perry has kept fans in the loop about the film. In keeping with that routine, she’s just revealed the release date for the summer flick. “My concert documentary is coming out Fourth of July weekend. Go and see it and be a firework!” she told E! News at the Kids’ Choice Awards . The film was directed by Magical Elves Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, who also served as producers on Justin Bieber’s highly successful “Never Say Never” concert movie. “The atmosphere I grew up in was 100 percent church. I started singing and I never really had another plan,” she said in a TV spot that began airing over the weekend, which is also full of vintage, behind-the-scenes footage of the singer. After kicking it old-school, a montage of her music videos leads up to colorful concert footage of the singer from her California Dreams Tour. “If you have a dream, you have to go on a journey to fulfill that dream,” she says in the clip. The tease closes out with Perry dressed up as her “T.G.I.F.” alter ego, Kathy Beth Terry. “This film, you’re going to see it from my best friend/ buddy perspective, you’re going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything,” Perry recently told MTV News . “Listen, I’ve [worked on] most of this film for a very long time and the word ‘cheap’ was not in the vocabulary,” she said. “But, hello, it’s 3-D. You’re going to get hit with a lot of sh–.” To add to the excitement for the movie, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were recently spotted shooting something that will appear in the film. “That tour was so life-changing to me. I learned so much, I went through so much along the way,” Perry said. “I’m not necessarily trying to prove anything to anyone, but not only will people really hands-down know me after they see this film, but you’ll see me as the Dorothy wearing the red ruby slipper, and at the end of it all I’m the [Wizard of] Oz as well.” Related Videos MTV First: Katy Perry’s ‘Part Of Me’ Related Artists Katy Perry
Winning Favorite Pop Artist at People’s Choice Awards ‘was the highlight of my year,’ singer says in documentary, airing Tuesday. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato in “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong” Photo: MTV News & Docs Demi Lovato has had an interesting year , to say the least. After leaving treatment in January 2011, she focused on her work, going into the studio to make the fun — but still very personal — album Unbroken . She launched a tour that quickly became viral thanks to her emotional cover of Lil Wayne’s ” How to Love .” She put the pieces back together, while remaining completely honest with her fans about her issues. Lovato gets personal and tells her story in the MTV documentary ” Demi Lovato: Stay Strong ,” airing Tuesday. “I’ve just been working at it a day at a time and have been trying to continue to fight my hardest,” she told MTV News about still dealing with her problems. “And I’ve had my ups and downs, and I’m still trying, but overall it’s been a really great journey, and I’m thankful for everything that I’ve been through.” Her single “Skyscraper” topped the charts, and her fans turned it out when she toured last fall, but there’s one moment that really is the tops for Lovato: “I won Favorite Pop Artist at the People’s Choice Awards ,” she said of the January awards ceremony where she performed her new single, “Give Your Heart a Break.” “So that was the highlight of my year so far. I worked really hard towards that, and it was just amazing.” Now, though, as Lovato looks to the future, she says that anyone can rewrite their story and shift the focus to the positive. It’s a message she hopes her fans can take with them. “I think it’s important to make sure that people know there’s a positive side to it, that you can kind of rework your story no matter what,” she said. “I’m just trying to be an example for girls today.” ” Demi Lovato: Stay Strong ” airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday on MTV.
