Heather Locklear Taken To Hospital After 911 Call

The actress is taken to a hospital after an emergency phone call is placed from her home. By Jason Kaufman Heather Locklear Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic Heather Locklear was rushed to a California hospital on Thursday with what law officials are labeling “a medical emergency.” TMZ reports that the emergency was a dangerous mix of prescription medication and alcohol. She was taken by ambulance from her home after a call was placed to 911. “Emergency response personnel responded to a medical emergency call at Ms. Locklear’s residence,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Aranda told People later Thursday. “Once they arrived, it was determined that Ms. Locklear needed to be transported to the hospital for further medical attention.” This is the second medical scare for the 50-year-old actress within the past 13 months. In December of 2010, Locklear landed in the hospital for a brief stay for a bacterial infection. 2011 was not without bumps for the actress either after a split with longtime beau Jack Wagner, once her co-star on “Melrose.” The couple had been engaged for only three months. Locklear had appeared in public as recently as Tuesday night at a Lakers game, reports TMZ. Locklear had returned to television in 2009 to revive her role as Amanda Woodward on a reboot of “Melrose Place.” Locklear had proved dependable for weekly watercooler discussion during the series’ original run in the mid-’90s.

Bob Dylan Honors Martin Scorsese At Critics’ Choice Movie Awards

Dylan performed ‘Blind Willie McTell,’ a song used in Scorsese’s PBS documentary series ‘The Blues.’ By Eric Ditzian Bob Dylan performs at the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Any excuse to hear Bob Dylan play live is a pleasure. The experience is made all the more pleasurable when it’s in the service of honoring filmmaker Martin Scorsese . Such was the case at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on Thursday (January 12) when Scorsese was selected as the Music + Film honoree. After a scorching montage that touched on not only his feature films but his excellent work in musical documentaries — from the Band’s “Last Waltz” to the Rolling Stones’ “Shine a Light” — Dylan took the stage to perform “Blind Willie McTell,” a tune included in Scorsese’s PBS documentary series “The Blues.” The two artists’ connection goes back further though, back to the 2005 doc “No Direction Home,” which follows Dylan through his musical and cultural development in the 1960s. After an introduction by Leonardo DiCaprio, Scorsese took the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech about how music first impacted his life and how it has influenced his cinematic work. “Such a great honor and an amazing performance by the great one, Bob Dylan,” he began. “This award has a very special significance to me, so I’d like to begin with a special thank-you to Django Reinhardt, St

Critics’ Choice Awards: Getting To Know Hosts Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer

Comic actors’ names might not be familiar to viewers, but their faces most likely are. By Kara Warner Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer host the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images For those who might not be familiar with the names Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel, this year’s hosts of the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards , you’ve very likely seen their faces and comedic stylings in a variety of roles in TV and film. Scheer is one of our illustrious MTV alumni, having co-created and starred in the sketch comedy series “Human Giant,” and can currently be seen in FX’s fantasy football-themed bro comedy “The League.” You also probably recognize him from a multitude of guest-starring roles in shows and movies like “Parks and Recreation,” “30 Rock,” “Reno 911,” “Party Down,” “Piranha,” “Happy Endings” and “Children’s Hospital.” Huebel’s r

Kristen Stewart A ‘Good Fight’ In ‘Snow White,’ Charlize Theron Says

‘The bitch brought it!’ she tells MTV News at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards about ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ rival. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Charlize Theron attends the 2012 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Photo: Getty Images It’s no secret that we are very excited about Kristen Stewart’s first big non-“Twilight” movie, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which made it through to the Sweet 16 in the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 . We’re excited not only because Stewart is the star, but because she is playing an action-star version of Snow White and faces off against a very formidable Evil Queen in Charlize Theron. The last time we caught up with Theron, she hadn’t yet filmed the big fight sequence with Stewart but admitted that she hoped her Evil Queen might get the best of Stewart’s Snow White. “I’m just really, really, really hoping I get to kill her,” she said with a smile. “That is how the story ends up, right?” We’re pretty sure that isn’t how the story ends — especially since we happened to bump into Theron again at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on Thursday (January 12), and she seemed to be changing her previous tune. When we asked the Oscar winner and Best Actress CCMA nominee for “Young Adult” if she’d filmed the epic fight sequence, she didn’t seem too keen to divulge any details. “Yeah,” she admitted, “but I don’t want to talk about it.” Why didn’t Theron want to talk about it? Did the fight not end in her favor? “I don’t want to talk about it. No! No, it’s going to be a surprise,” she said, resisting our probing questions. “Dammit, I give you way too much. People have to pay money to go see the movie to see what happens.” Theron finally relented a bit and revealed that Stewart’s Snow White does, indeed, kick some ass. “She was a good fight,” Theron said. “She was a good fight. The bitch brought it! There you go. Now you have something.” Stick with MTV News all night for the 2012 Critics’ Choice Awards winners , and don’t miss all the fashion from the red carpet ! Margaret Comeback Adds L.A. Engagement; Awards Crusade Next?

The enduring saga of Margaret — three years in the making, six years in the editing, one week in the theatrical showing, and finally rescued from oblivion by a cabal of devotees best known by their #TeamMargaret brand — presses on this week with news that Kenneth Lonergan’s embattled epic is finally returning to theaters in Los Angeles. Great! But perhaps just as interesting as how this complements the film’s ongoing revival in New York City is how it shores up a better-late-than-never awards campaign by distributor Fox Searchlight. Karina Longworth, who chose Margaret as her favorite film of 2011 (a distinction not too far from critic Alison Willmore’s own here at Movieline ), reports via LA Weekly that Cinefamily will launch a new engagement of the film starting Friday. The run starts at one week but could be extended based on demand — an option exercised three times now by the proprietors of New York’s Cinema Village , where tomorrow Margaret enters its fourth week on the comeback trail. The grassroots effort to get Margaret not only seen but outwardly acclaimed represents one of the season’s more inspired awards crusades, and one with which Searchlight is now playing along. Well, sort of, anyway: Speaking with Longworth, a studio publicist confirmed previous reports that Margaret screeners have been distributed Academy-wide — for what that’s worth, particularly with Oscar nomination ballots due Friday by 5 p.m. and the publicist denying that Searchlight’s “strategy” for the film had changed. But really, does the awards noise even matter in light of fans willfully prying a troubled mainstream film out from under a stubborn distributor’s heavy haunches? This is something to celebrate! Do them and their efforts proud and go see this thing, already. [ LA Weekly ]
