After touring with Justin Bieber and Janet Jackson, the MB boys finally drop their debut album. By Tami Katzoff Mindless Behavior Photo: MTV News After three years of preparation in the studio and on the road ( with the likes of Justin Bieber and Janet Jackson), the young men of Mindless Behavior are finally able to share the result of their efforts: their debut album, #1 Girl. Taking a quick break from an album signing session at Basement Mix Records in Brooklyn, teens Prodigy, Princeton, Ray Ray and Roc Royal talked to MTV News about everything that’s led up to this moment. “It’s all come down to this day,” Princeton said of their Tuesday release-day. “Last night we stayed up until 12 o’clock. And we were in our hotel room all together, and we got back at like 11:40 so we had 20 minutes, and we just waited. And we didn’t say one word until it turned 12 o’clock.” Once it was officially September 20, the celebration began. “We just started to scream and jump up and down,” Princeton recalled. It was a crazy night, added Roc Royal — “the most exciting night of our lives.” To put together #1 Girl the R&B/pop group enlisted the talents of several top producers, including Polow Da Don, Boi-1da and JukeBox. And if the members of Mindless Behavior are excited about it, their fans are positively giddy. “We’ll never get used to it,” Ray Ray said about the throngs of teen and pre-teen girls that greet MB at every appearance. “It’s always different. First time they’re just screaming. Next time they’re biting Princeton, third time they’re pulling my hair.” Some of those fans can be seen as extras in Mindless Behavior’s latest music video, “Mrs. Right” — directed by “Tower Heist” helmer Brett Ratner. Princeton explained how their partnership with the Hollywood heavyweight came to be. “After the Kids’ Choice Awards, we went to his house. We ate dinner and hung out with him, and within the next month he was like, ‘I want to direct your next video.’ ” The boys predict more big things in their future. After they return from the Scream Tour (with Diggy Simmons, the New Boyz and others) this fall, there’s going to be “more albums, more fans and more shows,” Princeton said. Their list of dream collaborators includes Drake, Kanye West, Nikki Minaj, Rihanna and Jay-Z. New details have emerged on what a source is referring to as a “life-threatening” crash today involving a tour bus carrying Miranda Cosgrove and many others. As previously reported, the singer broke her ankle when her vehicle – which was headed for a concert date on Kansas – collided with a busted tractor-trailer. According to a People Magazine insider: “Miranda’s mom was on the bus with her and got really beaten up by the crash. She’s expected to fully recover, but it’s scary because the driver was hurt, too, and he’s in really bad shape.” Those sleeping in the back of the bus were unaffected, but Cosgrove absorbed the impact because she was asleep on a sofa closer to the front. “This was a life-threatening crash,” the source added, saying the driver is in critical condition. “A piece from the tractor-trailer went straight through the windshield and the driver’s arm was sliced all the way through.” Cosgrove has postponed her tour “until further notice” and hopes to return to the stage some time this fall. I worked with Katy on 3OH!3’s ‘Starstrukk’ and knew she could pull off comedy. And she is actually an incredible actress who dove into this Kathy Beth role with reckless abandon,” he told MTV News about the colorful romp . “I really hope other artists take Katy’s lead and try to not take themselves so seriously all the time. Sometimes, fun can be cool too.” Speaking of fun, Hanson , Kenny G and two “Glee” stars are hardly the only celebs that made the final cut, Klasfeld shares. “One more random celebrity fact that added to the video is that the video was shot at [‘Dukes of Hazzard’ actor] John Schneider’s house,” he revealed. “That added a special spirit to the piece. He’s got a pretty wicked house with all this classic ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ stuff up on the walls. John and his family were away for the weekend, thankfully, ’cause the house really did look trashed when we were shooting. We had a great art department who cleaned it up though and made it look brand-new.” Klasfeld was asked to turn Perry’s goofy Teen Choice Awards character into the lead for the video, and from there it all took off. “Having done many comedic music videos, I was immediately into it and wrote something up,” he said. “With Katy having four #1 singles, I wanted to make this fifth one into an event like Michael Jackson used to do. “The inspiration was obviously John Hughes, but also a lot of my own music videos that I did for Alien Ant Farm, Sum 41, Nelly and others,” he continued. “I always enjoy making these pop-culture mash-ups where comedy and random celebrities get mixed with the music into this brand-new thing.” Give us your review of the “Last Friday Night” video in the comments below!
