Glee Casting Shocker: Who is Leaving?

Three stars will be departing Glee after this coming season. Correction: the three biggest stars on Glee will departing after this coming season. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Ryan Murphy cites the “integrity” of his show’s storytelling and confirms that Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) will all graduate after season three and not return “at all” after that. “We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea,” Murphy said, adding he’s yet to talk to Monteith. “They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top.” This is simply “true to life,” Murphy said. But what will it mean for one of Fox’s highest rated shows? We won’t find out until the fall of 2012.

Watch The Original Lame Ending To Election

1999’s Election is probably Reese Witherspoon’s very best role. As laser-eyed grade-grubber Tracy Flick who had her sights set on becoming the school body president, Witherspoon was equal parts venomous and hilarious– nothing would stop Flick’s bloodthirsty rise to the top. And its bleakly funny ending, though a bit of a bummer, rang true to the mordant black humor that runs through the rest of Election . But now the original ending (that’s evidently true to the source novel) has surfaced and we see that the audience narrowly missed a coda that’s all hugs and accepted apologies and other bits of bland porridge. Check it out below! [ Vulture ]

Weekend Receipts: Thor Thumps Bridesmaids, Priest Finds Audiences Agnostic

It was a super second weekend for Thor as it held on to the top spot and declined a relatively slim -47% (contrast that with the -62% tumble that Fast Five took on its second weekend). But the good news wasn’t confined to first, as the poopin’ dames of Bridesmaids notched a strong debut at second place. But pity the clergy as Priest could only muster a fourth place bow. Your weekend receipts are here.

SNL Scorecard: Where the Hell Was Ed Helms?

It’s apparent that there are certain Saturday Night Live hosts whom the show really has no idea how to use — Elton John is a good example from earlier this season. Then there’s the strange case of Ed Helms: For whatever reason, the show decided to pretty much ignore the fact that Helms was host altogether.

You’re Hired: 7 Reasons Dionne Warwick Will Dominate Celebrity Apprentice

As the greatest female pop vocalist of the last half-century, Dionne Warwick doesn’t need to go off and do a season of Celebrity Apprentice to retain her place in the American cultural canon. The American cultural consciousness, however? OK, sure. Cosmically unfair as it is, the woman who made swinging, tearjerking hits of Bacharach/David masterpieces like “Walk on By” and “Anyone Who Had a Heart” has slid to sub-Carnie Wilson depths of recognition — a criminal oversight worthy of a prime-time, mass-market correction whose time has come, starting with Sunday’s season premiere. This will happen .

Topher Grace on Take Me Home Tonight and Almost Dying Inside of a Gigantic Metal Ball

Back in 2006, Topher Grace wrapped production on That ’70s Show and transitioned seamlessly into the ’80s. That is, the Connecticut-raised actor starred in (and executive produced) an ’80s romantic comedy opposite Teresa Palmer , Anna Faris and Dan Fogler called Take Me Home Tonight . And this weekend, after a few years and a few distribution switch-ups, the film is finally being released .

The New Kung Fu Panda 2 Trailer: Not Enough Jean-Claude Van Damme

It’s a good week to be an animation fan, what with Rango garnering rave reviews and a new trailer for the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots hitting the web. (Unless, like me, you caught the Puss in Boots teaser in theaters at midnight in front of the aptly-named Beastly . Not a smart life choice, in retrospect.) But what mystical, family-friendly, Eastern-influenced laughs await us in the new trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2 ?

Quick, Let’s Name 50 Songs Glee Should Never Cover and Save Their Souls

Let me be clear: Though I’m a Glee hater, I enjoy and endorse some of the show’s interesting song choices. During the Madonna episode, I liked the pep assembly version of “4 Minutes” and the all-male rendition of “What It Feels Like for a Girl” because they were unexpected tunes with unexpected singers. But most of the time Glee resorts to overly familiar hits, cheapens them, and shoehorns them into maddening storylines. That can be a tolerable practice, but let’s set aside 50 examples of untouchable pop majesty for Glee immunity. Add your own, please .

Gleebasing: Fat Bottomed Girls Make Valentine’s Day Go Round

Phew! Glee shed that faux football-loving, thrill-seeking, Katy Perry-exploiting skin that it adopted for Super Bowl fans on Sunday , and got back to basics with last night’s Valentine’s Day episode, where Blaine explained that February 14th is the one day of the year when you can just tell the person you love how you feel. (Unless you belong to the Church of Love Actually , in which case that one day of the year is Christmas.) Meanwhile, Santana taught viewers that revenge is best served with glandular fever, and Ryan Murphy sold his soul to the Gap for a cute dance number. Let’s review the highs and lows.
