The Case of the Missing Iranian Nuke Scientist

One video shows a man who may well be Iranian nuclear scientist Shahram Amiri claiming that he was abducted by Americans and is now being held in Tuscon, Arizona—in which case, whoever kidnapped him should make sure he has the right papers. Another video features a clearer image of someone who could be the same missing scientist, but this time he says he’s in school in Arizona. What gives? The BBC gave this mystery a closer look on Tuesday.

Jon Gosselin: Stoned Out of His Mind

This isn’t breaking news at all, but it is hilarious: A video of Jon Gosselin stoned last summer with then-girlfriend Hailey Glassman has just leaked online. If you recall, the two just started dating and were vacationing in St. Tropez, France, with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier. Looks like they had fun. An insider tells Radar Online , the king of exclusive non-stories, that they smoked spliffs (marijuana and tobacco mixed) and were drunk on champagne. Jon Gosselin, who was still married to Kate then, took turns with Hailey Glassman filming each other, making cracks about the French and lactose issues. The trip marked Jon and Hailey’s first public appearance together. When Glassman references her curly hair during a salon mishap she experienced in St. Tropez, Jon interrupts with: “It looked like big Jewish pubes.” Class . At one point, Jon, with a cigarette up his nose, says: “This is how the French smoke. They smoke so much they put cigarettes in every orifice of their body.” While there is no paraphernalia or anything, and it certainly matters little if they were actually stoned, their behavior would certainly suggest that it’s true. The Real Housewives of New Jersey: A Serving of Quaw-Fee, Danielle/Dina Drama

While most of our staff is sitting in stunned silence over the alleged existence of yet another Danielle Staub sex tape , thank goodness for our Real Housewives critic. She sat through another hilarious, entertaining, nauseating episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey last night and filed the following report… Let me just start out by saying that the entire focus of this episode was women trying to get other women out of their lives while simultaneously talking, thinking, texting, Facebooking, and scheming endlessly about these same women.

Add Justin Long and Mike White to the Same-Sex Kissing Brigade

Gay kissing! It’s only the latest, most popular trend ever ! Just ask Sandra Bullock, who’ll make out with anyone ! Or Jason Bateman and Dustin Hoffman, who’ve become Hollywood’s glam new power couple ! Or Christian Newswire, a site that blames the implication of gay kissing for American Idol’s most boring season! OK, I’m going to stop using exclamation points now!

Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry Light Up MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet

Stars sport summer whites, bold blues and plenty of shine. By Amy Wilkinson Kristen Stewart at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage Hollywood’s hottest stars shined brightly — quite literally — on the 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet, as sparkle and bling dominated the evening’s sartorial choices along with white-hot and bold blue shades. “Jersey Shore” star and red-carpet correspondent Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi flaunted her curves in a white Dolce & Gabbana minidress with a diamond mosaic design, while co-star Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola rocked a black-and-white bandage-style dress. “Beastly” star Vanessa Hudgens was also white-hot in a frilly, empire-waist, white Jenny Packham frock with silver-jeweled detailing, as Paris Hilton showed off her gams in a cream-colored feathered mini by Blumarine. And the girls weren’t the only ones working their summer whites, as “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino walked the carpet in a white suit jacket paired with a white T-shirt and jeans. Blue was the other standout color of the night, though, sometimes it manifested itself in unexpected ways. “California Gurls” singer Katy Perry showed up in a bright blue wig, which seems to be her new go-to awards show ‘do, as she sported a similar wig at the Kids’ Choice Awards in March. Although Perry joked she’d be naked during Sunday’s (June 6) performance, she actually showed up nude, well, wearing nude in a long-sleeve sheer number with strategically placed rhinestones. “Eclipse” and “The Last Airbender” star Jackson Rathbone was also singing “the blues” in a teal satin jacket, while the lovely Eva Mendes looked stunning in a turquoise-and-silver Stella McCartney one-shoulder dress. Lindsay Lohan bared plenty of cleavage in a sparkling silver Pamella Roland jumpsuit, as did “Eclipse” star Elizabeth Reaser, clad in a slightly more demure black tuxedo-style jumpsuit. Couture was the word for songstress Christina Aguilera who donned a black Versace gown with plenty of interesting details, including chains and peacock-esque feathers cascading from the back. And did we mention Christina’s Rihanna-inspired updo? Kristen Stewart was also a designer darling in a D&G dress with a sparkling gold top and silver skirt bottom. “Up in the Air” nominee Anna Kendrick was arguably one of the most colorful dressers of the night in a flirty, floral-print red Zac Posen dress. “The City” star Whitney Port also opted for color: a cheery yellow-and-gray minidress that played well off her blond hair. For the men, the standard uniform seemed to be a suit jacket and jeans. Zac Efron sported a gray jacket with a baby-blue button-down (strategically unbuttoned at the top, of course). Taylor Lautner donned his signature leather jacket look, while Paul “DJ Pauly D” Del Vecchio rocked a black jacket and white tee. “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” star Michael Cera eschewed this dress code, opting for a multicolored polo shirt that made him look a bit like a fast-food employee. Donald Glover’s ‘Spider-Man’ Campaign: What Do You Think?

We headed to Times Square to see what moviegoers have to say about the ‘Community’ actor playing Peter Parker. By Rick Marshall Donald Glover Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic Earlier this week, a fan campaign to cast “Community” actor Donald Glover as the star of the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie had the online world buzzing, with creators and fans alike weighing in on the idea of casting an African-American actor as the new Peter Parker. Earlier Wednesday (June 2), MTV News spoke to comic book historian Alan Kistler to get his take on the heated debate raging around the Twitterverse — a discussion that became one of the hottest topics on Twitter this weekend and resulted in a Facebook fan group more than 8,000 members strong at last count. “There is nothing in the comic or the origin of the character that has to do with what ethnicity [Peter Parker] is, the color of his skin or his background,” Kistler told MTV’s Splash Page. While the noted historian of all things superhero went on to offer further analysis of why an African-American actor playing the famous Marvel Comics character isn’t so unbelievable, we went to the streets to get your take on the possibility of Glover playing Spider-Man. In Times Square, opinions varied on whether the actor was a good fit for the role. Some hoped he’d find a way into the running for the role, which was recently rumored to be down to five actors — all white. Reactions to the “Community” actor’s campaign for the role ranged from “really cool,” to one fan anticipating mixed feelings about giving Peter Parker a new look in the movie world. “Some people might get mad because they’re changing the character, and then some people might not because it’s different, something new,” Joey Warren said. However, not everyone was buying the idea of giving Spider-Man a race-bending makeover. “I’m not sure if that’s a good look,” Christian Crawford told MTV News. “I don’t think that’s going to be a good look.” What do you think about casting Donald Glover or another black actor as Peter Parker? Anti-gays hide their bias behind the Bible

Grand Rapids, Michigan (CNN) — My partner and I recently took our mothers to Las Vegas for a week for Mother's Day. It's not our favorite city, but for a pair of 60-somethings who can sit at the penny slot machines for hours, it was heaven. When they were not being robbed by one-armed bandits, we saw a couple of shows and had some amazing dinners. We also enjoyed trying to figure out which women were hookers and which were just dressed like one. And of course saying “public drunkenness” is pretty redundant after 11 a.m. But that's why we go to Vegas, right? Life on the Strip. What happens here stays here … and all that good stuff. By the end of our trip, the four of us had seen just about everything you would expect to see in a place nicknamed Sin City — except for faith-based protesters. Funny, a week of walking up and down the main artery of the self-proclaimed heart of moral debauchery, and nary a Bible verse could be heard. In the many times I've been to Las Vegas over the years, I've never seen a religious protest. And yet let a midsize city try to add sexual orientation to its municipal nondiscrimination policy or a high school senior bring a same-gender date to prom, and you would think it was the apocalypse. Where are the faith-based organizations trying to make adultery a crime punishable by death, as suggested in Leviticus 20:10? The Bible doesn't state that one sin is greater than another, but you wouldn't know that by counting the number of comments that quote Scripture on news stories about the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. Compare them with how many address murder, or the environment, or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and well, the word “hypocrite” comes to mind. I am never ashamed to say I follow the teachings of Christ, but I am not always proud to say I am a Christian. That's because I am bothered by the continual mutilation of my religion's basic principle of love by the extremists in my religion who construct a hierarchy of sin — which does not exist in the Bible — for no other reason than to protect their own prejudices. We've seen this throughout this country's history, and perhaps with the exception of abortion, no current issue illustrates this transgression more so than gay rights. Some conservatives might attend church only twice a year, but ask their opinion about gays in the military. They can find Leviticus 18:22 blindfolded, handcuffed and sinking underwater: “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is an abomination.” Rarely do you hear them mention the other “sexual sins” in Leviticus, such as making love to your wife while she's menstruating. There are some people who say Jesus freed us from the old laws with one side of their mouths while using old laws to condemn GLBT people with the other. Many turn to the destruction of Sodom as proof against homosexuality. But the King James version lists fornication, greed and lying as sins committed in Sodom as well, and never specifies which particular sin caused God's wrath. In fact, the word “Sodomite,” which some like to toss around as an anti-gay insult, is a mistranslation and is not used in the original Hebrew text. The actual word is “kadesh,” and it does not refer to the city, its inhabitants or a specific sexual act. It refers to the occult male prostitutes in the shrines, just as “kedesha” refers to the female equivalent. Neither word reflects sexual orientation. It may be convenient to say Sodom was all about homosexual people, but historically and scripturally, that isn't accurate. This is why I, like so many other Christians, do not follow a literal interpretation of the Bible. I'm not ducking Leviticus, I'd just rather go directly to the source. Concepts get lost in translation, and we all know history is filled with influential people and institutions that have defined religion for the masses based upon their own selfish needs. For example, King Henry VIII, the man who authorized the first English translation of the Bible, was married six times and essentially had the British Empire separate from the Roman Catholic Church so he could divorce in peace. Then there's King James, whose own writings suggest he was secretly gay or bisexual, according to historians such as Michael B. Young and Caroline Bingham. He was directed to marry for the sake of the throne before authorizing the version of the Bible that swapped “kadesh” for “Sodomite” in the first place. Hmm, where have we heard that story — closeted gay politician with an anti-gay policy — before? But theology and history aside, it is clear from the lack of consistent reaction to and organization against the litany of other present-day sins that a large number of people who call themselves Christians do not follow the literal interpretation of the Bible either. So, if some of us are picking and choosing which Bible verses to follow, why are so many opting to pick and choose verses that appear to condemn homosexuality and not the one against marrying a woman who isn't a virgin? If sin is sin, why such Christian angst directed at the GLBT community and not the greedy corporate community, which, quite frankly, has more direct impact on the average person's life? The answer is simple: Those who are uncomfortable or fearful of someone who is different from them sometimes hide behind religion to gain power, nurture their ignorance and justify their prejudices. It's no different from Christian slave owners using Scriptures to feel better about enslaving Africans, or men pointing to Jezebel as a way to keep women out of the clergy, or Bob Jones University picking verses that supported the school's ban on interracial dating. The extremists aren't fighting gay rights because of sin and honoring Leviticus 18:22. If they were, then where are the faith-based organizations spending millions trying to make adultery a crime punishable by death, as suggested in Leviticus 20:10? Is 18:22 more true than 20:10, or does it just support a more common and entrenched prejudice? added by: TimALoftis

Church Denies Crayon Evolution

Today the pastor of the fundamentalist Christian Church of the Righteous, Eliza Smith, held a press conference challenging the widely held belief that crayon colors have evolved. “According to scripture God chose eight colors for man to use, no more, no less.” This flies in the face of crayon hardliners who point to the fact that there are now over 100 colors to choose from, hence proof of evolution. When asked to comment further pastor Smith admitted that after creation god did add the color white after he realized he had created white people in his own image. added by: SushiBandit
