SMH: Woman Charged For Chucking Cupcakes At Her Husband During A Heated Domestic Dispute

So people are getting arrested for throwing cupcakes these days: A woman who allegedly pelted her husband with cupcakes was charged with domestic battery Saturday after he called the cops on her. Dawn Montesdeoca, 60, is accused of throwing the party-sized treats at her husband Arturo, 56, and hitting him during an argument at his home on the 4700 block of South Western. When police arrived, Arturo Montesdeoca’s head and shirt were smeared in cupcake icing, and he told officers he was “in fear” and wanted his wife arrested, according to a police report. She used “a very aggressive tone,” with the cops and admitted the cupcake assault, the report said. Judge Adam D. Bourgeois set her bail at $10,000 during a brief court hearing Sunday morning. SMH. In the heat of a domestic dispute, a Chicago woman pelted her husband with cupcakes before police arrived to arrest her Saturday night, authorities said. The sweet evidence of her crime was visible on her husband’s head and shirt when officers responded to the home in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, according to a police report. On Sunday morning, Cook County Circuit Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Jr. ordered electronic monitoring for the woman and a $10,000 bond. She is charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery. The fight started with a verbal quarrel about 7:45 p.m. at the home in the 4700 block of South Western Avenue, according to a police report, but escalated until the woman started hitting her husband over the head. After that, she reached for the box of desserts and directed a fusillade of snack cakes at his head and body, her husband told police. Several of the confections apparently hit their mark, as the man’s head and shirt were smudged with icing when officers arrived, according to a police report. He told officers he feared for his safety, and she was verbally aggressive with officers, the report states. Police said she admitted hurling the treats at her husband. Records indicate that the alleged victim himself has been arrested three times since 2003 on domestic battery or battery charges. Charges in all three cases were later dropped. As he left home Sunday, the alleged victim of the cupcake assault declined to comment. Source 1 , Source 2

‘Walking Dead’ Creator On Shocking Season Premiere

‘Chandler, I think, was super-excited’ about his fate, Robert Kirkman says of episode’s stunning cliffhanger. By Josh Wigler Robert Kirkman Photo: MTV News One week after “Breaking Bad” delivered its jaw-exploding season finale, AMC has delivered once again in the form of “The Walking Dead.” The post-zombie apocalypse series crawled back onto television Sunday night, and it ended with one hell of a gut shot — literally. In last night’s second-season premiere, Southern lawmen Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal) spent much of the episode dodging zombies and trudging through the woods in search of a missing companion. Joined by Rick’s son Carl (Chandler Riggs), the trio’s journey took a turn for the eerie when they stumbled upon a deer in the forest … a deer that was shot in cold blood seconds later, the victim of an unseen shooter. That deer wasn’t the only party injured, either: That very same bullet found its final destination in poor little Carl’s abdomen. Shot in the stomach in the middle of nowhere with nothing but two men and who knows how many hidden zombies for company, Carl’s chances for survival are looking pretty slim. Regardless of whether or not he makes it, shooting a child in the belly certainly qualifies as crossing a line, but don’t fear for actor Chandler Riggs — according to “Walking Dead” comic book creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman, Chandler was very much onboard with the scene. “Chandler, I think, was super-excited,” Kirkman told MTV News about the young actor’s reaction to hearing about his character’s fate. “He was like, ‘I’m going to get shot? This is great!’ Chandler is really into that stuff.” Kirkman, who was on set during the shoot, described the process of filming Carl’s accident. “I got to witness what they were calling ‘Chandler Chucking,’ where they would basically pick him up by his pants and his jacket and then swing him onto a mat that was covered in leaves … he was totally into it.” “Anytime you shoot a child onscreen, you have to make sure the kid is OK with it,” he joked. “I think most of that was digital effects.” Beyond building a controversial, water-cooler moment out of shooting a child, Kirkman said that the scene represents another interesting aspect of adapting “Walking Dead” from comics to television. “I think that’s the magic of the TV show, personified in that scene,” he said. “That [scene] is something that happens in the [early phase of the] comic book series, and it’s a shocking thing. You’re not expecting that kid to get shot. People who have read the comic know that it happens, but the way we got to that scene in the TV show was done in a way that even if you’re completely, 100 percent familiar with the comic book, you’re not watching that going, ‘I bet he’s about to get shot. This is the part where he gets shot.’ ” “It shocks even me,” he continued. “I’ve seen that episode probably — I’m not going to exaggerate — 400 times already. I’m always sitting there watching it going, ‘OK, he smiles, and then the deer moves its ears, and then that gunshot’s coming, and then — oh God, no! It came!’ I can never really pinpoint when that gunshot is coming. It always really startles me. I think it’s a cool scene.” What do you think will happen to Carl? ‘Footloose’: The Reviews Are In!

Critics can’t help but compare the Kenny Wormald dance flick to Kevin Bacon’s 1984 original. By Kevin P. Sullivan Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough in “Footloose” Photo: Paramount Pictures Let’s dance! The remake of “Footloose” hit theaters on Friday (October 14), and the critics have weighed in. The dance flick revisits the 1984 original’s story about a teen (played by newcomer Ken Wormald ) who moves to a conservative town that has outlawed dancing; the new kid shakes things up in more ways than one. “Footloose” seems to be holding on with a 74 percent fresh rating at the review-aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes and, overall, the verdict is a resounding “better than we thought it would be.” We rounded up a sampling of some of the reviews to give you an idea of what to expect if you decide to bust a move and hit the theater. The Story “After his mother dies, Boston kid Renn (Wormald) comes to live with his aunt (Kim Dickens) and uncle (Ray McKinnon) in Bomont, Ga., which three years before banned ‘vulgar, demeaning amplified music’ and ‘lewd and lascivious dancing’ in the wake of a car crash that killed five high-schoolers. One of the dead kids came from the family of Rev. Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid), his wife Vi (Andie MacDowell) and their daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough). The boy’s death has launched pretty Ariel into a territory somewhere between damaged and deranged. She stands on railroad tracks as a train speeds toward her, and flirts dangerously with surly local outlaw Chuck (Patrick Flueger), whose biker gang seems sanitized enough to be called Heck’s Angels. Ariel also comes on to Renn — who, though he sports a Back Bay accent and a greasy coif, isn’t that kind of boy.” — Richard Corliss, Time The Leads “Unlike Bacon, who had a double, Wormald does Ren’s angry dance himself in an abandoned warehouse. But Wormald is not the actor Bacon is. This crimps his chemistry with Hough, who has the indefinable spark that indicates star potential.” — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone The Direction “If you remember the first ‘Footloose,’ you know more or less what happens, and you may find some of the alterations amusing. Instead of a game of chicken on tractors, for instance, there is a dirt-track race involving modified school buses. [Director Craig] Mr. Brewer films this lumbering action sequence, and several brawls and fights, with more verve and relish than he brings to the dance numbers, which are, in the age of ‘Glee,’ the ‘High School Musical’ movies and the mighty ‘Step Up’ franchise, woefully inadequate.” — A.O. Scott, The New York Times The Remake “There’s one thing to be said for a remake of a 1984 movie that uses the original’s screenplay. This 2011 version is so similar — sometimes song for song and line for line — that I was wickedly tempted to reprint my 1984 review, word for word. But That Would be Wrong. I think I could have gotten away with it, though. The movies differ in such tiny details (the hero now moves to Tennessee from Massachusetts, not Chicago) that few would have noticed.” — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times The Verdict “The remake of ‘Footloose’ is sappy, squeaky clean and far-fetched. But thanks to the obvious love director and co-writer Craig Brewer has for the 1984 original, its heart is in the right place.” — Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic Check out everything we’ve got on “Footloose.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Lil Chuckee Could Be ‘Another Wayne,’ Mack Maine Says

Chuckee ‘invested in a studio and learned how to record himself,’ Young Money president tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne and Lil Chuckee Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Celebrity Favorites: Mack Maine Young Money is an army, better yet a navy, and when it comes to their youngest soldier, Lil Chuckee , label president Mack Maine has high hopes. Mixtape Daily caught up with the YMCMB squad at Chuckee’s birthday bash on October 1 in Atlanta, and El Presidente had some key advice for his 16-year-old spitter. “Just make sure that he follows Wayne’s work ethic,” Mack told Mixtape Daily of the tip that he gave young Chuck. “To me Chuckee can be another Wayne, hopefully one day with time.” Obviously, the teenage rhyme slinger has been listening. On his latest mixtape, Twap or Die, Chuckee follows in Weezy’s footsteps, commandeering industry instrumentals for his own needs. Songs like YC’s “Racks” becomes “Twaps on Twaps” while the Throne’s new single “N—as in Paris” becomes “N—az in Hawaii.” Throughout Chuck adds his own flavor, making each track his own. Mack, who helps oversee the careers of not only Wayne, but of Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Lil Twist and Cory Gunz, is impressed with Chuck’s growth. “Chuckee called me and told me, ‘I got my own studio,’ ” the President recalled. “So he listens. Instead of him saying ‘I’m writing every day’ he actually took his show money and invested in a studio and he learned how to record himself.” The dedication has clearly paid off. “Chuckee doin’ like five, six songs a day,” Mack said. Leona Lewis Delays Album Release To 2012

‘I’m feeling so inspired right now and have decided to continue recording,’ singer says of Glassheart. By Jocelyn Vena Leona Lewis Photo: Getty Images Leona Lewis fans will have to wait to hear what the singer has in store for them on her album Glassheart. The British pop chanteuse has taken to her Facebook page to announce that the album is now expected to drop next year, instead of November as originally planned. “Just wanted to update everyone on the album!” she wrote . “I’m feeling so inspired right now and have decided to continue recording! I have a collection of songs that I’m so in love with and I [know] there’s more to be born so it means the album will come early next year x.” Despite the delay, she did tease fans with a single, “Collide,” earlier this year. The song, written and produced by Autumn Rowe and produced by Sandy Vee, garnered attention when Swedish DJ Avicii claimed it was plagiarized from his 2010 track “Penguin.” Avicii was eventually given co-writing credits on the track, NME.com reports. A video for the song dropped this past summer and featured Lewis getting flirty on the beach. The dance-flavored track was something of a departure for Lewis, who made a name for herself with big ballads and mid-tempo hits like “Better in Time” and “Bleeding Love.” She’s reportedly been in the studio with a number of A-listers including Chuck Harmony, Claude Kelly, Ryan Tedder, Fraser T. Smith, Dallas Austin, Rico Love, Naughty Boy and Ne-Yo. The album is a follow-up to 2009’s Echo, which spawned hits like “Happy” when it dropped. Related Artists Leona Lewis
