Normally we don’t post crime videos, even if they take place in the city, because they can be pretty gruesome and upsetting. But since no person is getting hurt in this fast-forwarded clip of a bizarre evening in Kensington, Brooklyn, here it is. Watch as a would-be thief repeatedly goes at a (relatively large) tree with an ax. He’s stopped again and again by a group of young men who happen to be… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Daily Intelligencer – New York Magazine Discovery Date : 10/06/2011 00:00 Number of articles : 3

Tech N9ne Meets And Greets Fans At All 6’s And 7’s Signing

‘The line was wrapped around the block, like it always is. It’s a blessing,’ Tech says of event held in his Missouri hometown. By Rob Markman Tech N9ne Photo: Getty INDEPENDENCE, Missouri — Tech N9ne didn’t go mainstream, mainstream went Tech. That was the battle cry on Tuesday in KCMO, when hometown hero Tech N9ne released his sixth solo album, All 6’s and 7’s. The album, which features guest verses from popular artists like Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes, lured Kansas City fans, who lined up outside an Independence, Missouri, FYE record store for a scheduled meet-and-greet with Tecca Nina. “It’s just inspiring to me to see that we have that many hip-hop fans in Kansas City,” KC’s Hot 103 Jamz radio personality Brooklyn Martino said after the signing, which brought out more than a thousand fans. “Today, there was a constant line the whole day, and it was amazing because you see how many fans come out and appreciate the type of music that he gives Kansas City. He’s constantly giving us good music and the country has now recognized it, and it is really awesome and inspiring to the city.” Tech, who started signing autographs at the store at 3 p.m. CT, continued to meet with fans up until 9:30 p.m., only taking a seven-minute dinner break at around 8 p.m. “The line was wrapped around the block, like it always is. It’s a blessing,” Tech told MTV News. “I stand up the whole time to greet my fans. I don’t like sitting down in between a table, so it makes it harder to stand up and greet everybody how they come, but that’s how I like doing it. The day as a whole, it was successful. The album is selling really good everywhere. I’m tired as hell, but I’m proud at the same time.” “I mean the world to them because they know I’m inside out, I give them everything,” Tech, who is in the midst of an 82-city tour , said. “They know that I push real hard to give them what they want, musically, performance-wise, everything — I open all the way up. That’s why people call me a cult leader, because my fanbase is so hard-core and so devoted to the Tech N9ne, Strange Music movement.” Strange Music is the independent label that Tech has been releasing music on since establishing the business in 1999 with his business partner Travis O’Guin. In 2009, it was revealed that the label earned approximately $15 million, thanks to the support of Tech’s fans, who call themselves “Technicians” and have drawn comparisons to the famed Juggalo fans that support Insane Clown Posse. “I definitely deem today a success,” O’Guin said of the All 6’s and 7’s drop. Since being released, the star-studded LP has remained in the iTunes top three albums alongside Adele’s 21 and Dirty Work’s All Time Low. “I can give a sh– about a chart position,” O’Guin said. “A fan telling me that they love the album means more than them little glass trophies. The people, I think, genuinely love the album.” Related Artists Tech N9ne

My name is Lilee and I live in Townsville, Australia. One thing…

My name is Lilee and I live in Townsville, Australia . One thing that really bothers me is that people instantly assume that I am ‘in love’ with Justin Bieber just because I am a fan of his, but for me this is not the case. I can honestly say that I simply just appreciate his music and nothing else. On December 9th, 2010 myself and my two friends Nicole (@thatnicolekidd) and Candace (@candiebritton) bought our VIP tickets through a pre-sale and were lucky enough to get second row center stage seats. Before this I had never cried over anything Bieber related but I think it was purely over the fact that we had prayed for these exact seats in the exact section and God had answered our prayers. I honestly mean that. Finally, April 22nd 2011 came and we flew from Townsville to Brisbane which was where the concert was. As we were waiting in the Brisbane Airport my friends and I were saying how this didn’t seem real when just at that moment this older couple were walking towards us. I couldn’t figure out who they were but I just knew that I knew their names. Suddenly it hit me that they were Justin’s Grandparents. His Grandmother walked past us and I said hello. She replied and I said I’d see her at the concert on Tuesday. She replied “Yes Tuesday. See you girls there!” She was absolutely friendly and more than happy to talk to us. So that night we went into Brisbane city and were walking near the Hilton hotel when these 3 guys walked passed us. I thought one of them was Scrappy but I wasn’t sure so I didn’t say anything. But then he started talking and I just knew it was him. About 20 minutes later we walked to McDonalds where we found Scrappy and a bunch of other guys sitting down. I worked up the courage to approach him later on out on the street and he was absolutely shocked that I recognised him . He introduced us to some of the other crew members as he conversed with us. They all made fun of my accent and I got about 10 photos with Scrappy and a random video. Before we left he told us he’d wave to us at the concert since he knew where we were sitting. The next day we went back into the city and met a bunch more people from the crew including Scrappy again. He told us that Justin had gotten stuck in Bali due to problems with his jet. I met Michael Vargas 3 times that day and night, Legaci, the other back up dancers , more stage crew members, Marcus (the One Less Lonely Boy) who is incredibly funny and we spoke to Scrappy again. The next day was April 26th – concert day. We basically spent all day getting ready. When we arrived at the Brisbane Entertainment Center everyone had to line up at security. My friends and I were at the front of the line and across from where we were you could see into the windows at the top of the venue. At one point, Ryan Good walked by and so did Justin. He opened the window and waved and was hoping up and down trying to tease us. Of course everyone went crazy. It was adorable. So when we got inside the venue to our seats Scrappy was doing his thing on stage and waved to us as promised. Several times girls kept screaming and pointing to backstage as if they’d seen something. I looked and I saw Justin’s head running away. This only got me more excited for the show. When DJ Tay James was on stage doing his thing Scooter walked on stage to talk to him and I managed to get a photo of Scooter looking directly at my camera. In the first song of the show I held up this tiny sign which read, ‘Hey Dan, @teamkanterAUS’ with an arrow pointing down at me. You see, I own that account and Dan Kanter follows me on it and has tweeted and rt’d me a few times. I literally held the sign up for 2 seconds when he saw it and pointed at me and mouthed ‘OMG, THAT’S YOU?!’ with a massive smile on his face. Of course I and my friends lost it. Dan threw his first guitar pick to me and I caught it. During the night he threw me another one so I have 2 of his guitar picks. He also kept throwing them at my friends and one of them was lucky enough to catch one. Dan was constantly smiling and waving to us all night. Legaci also recognised us and randomly waved which was awesome. At the beginning of ‘Baby’ Michael Vargas was standing directly in front of me when he randomly remembered me from the day before I guess, and so he pointed at me and waved. After the concert, we drove into the city. We randomly decided to walk down some random part of the mall when who do we see? Dan Kanter and Scrappy. They were at some bar with Allison Kaye, Scooter’s assistant and a bunch of other people from the crew. I didn’t even wave at Dan, he just recognised us, waved and then came straight over to us. I shook his hand and introduced myself. He wouldn’t stop thanking me for the account I made for him and he also told me that he had hoped to meet me on the Australian leg of the My World Tour. I died at that point. Haha. He is honestly the sweetest, most humble and genuine person I’ve ever met . We had a normal conversation with him for about 20 minutes, got photos etc and he told us that Justin and his crew are planning on coming back to Australia next year! That same night we also ran into Ryan Good, Scooter and Carin. The next morning we were sitting in the bar at the Sofitel when Dan walked in and came over to our table and was like ‘What’s up guys?’ I don’t think I’ve ever come across any ‘famous’ person in such a ‘normal’ way. He was just like anyone else. Before he left we spoke again. Ryan, Allison, Alfredo, Scooter, Kenny, PJ and Carin were also there. Kenny, Alfredo and PJ stayed behind while the others left for Sydney. We knew Justin was on bed rest so we bought $75 purple flowers and a card which his Grandpa so kindly took up to Justin for us. Candace and I had to fly back to Townsville that night and Nicole was staying for Chris Brown’s concert. Before I left we had a conversation with Alfredo and got photos. The next morning back in Townsville I check my twitter to find I have a mention from someone saying “So you’re one of the girls that gave Justin flowers. Did you get the note from his Grandma?” I freaked out and called Nicole and our other friend Anj (@anjieg) who were still in Brisbane. Long story short, Nicole ran into Justin’s Grandparents before they left for Sydney and we got our note. One of our friends Maddie didn’t get the chance to come to Brisbane for Justin’s concert so her and I spontaneously bought flights to Adelaide and left 2 days later without concert tickets. We knew God would provide for us so we went anyway. In Adelaide we met my friend Anj who was also going to the concert there. We had hoped to be one of the lucky ones who got given tickets by Scooter or Kenny but sadly they didn’t seem to come out. We waited outside the venue in 5 degree weather all night. I knew we couldn’t give up. Exactly half way through the show these 3 random girls came out and gave us their tickets!! We sprinted through the venue screaming, ran down the stairs and into the Auditorium where Justin was half way through performing ‘One Time’. Maddie lost it. She was so upset that all her friends had already seen Justin and she hadn’t but now there she was.. in the same room as Justin Bieber. We couldn’t believe how Good God had been to us. We travelled all the way from Northern Australia to the very bottom of the country with NO tickets to go to a SOLD OUT concert and we managed to get in. It’s all about faith. The next day we met Justin’s drummer in an Alley way where we just had a casual conversation about life and traveling. He was amazed we’d traveled so far with no tickets. After that I met Justin’s Grandparents again where I thanked them in person for holding onto our note in Brisbane. I met Ryan Good and Alfredo Flores again. I also met Dan again who recognised me and screamed “OMG HEY! DID YOU GO TO THE SHOW LAST NIGHT?!” I’ll never forget the people I met, the friends I made or how incredible both of Justin’s concerts were. I am forever grateful that he took the time to write myself, Anj, Nicole and Candace a thank you note and I am completely amazed at how lovely, friendly and genuine everyone on Bieber’s crew is. Team bieber forever. April 22nd-May 6th, 2011 Continue reading here: My name is Lilee and I live in Townsville, Australia. One thing…

Jennifer Hudson Joins ‘Three Stooges’ Cast

The singer/actress will play a nun in the Farrelly brothers’ long-in-the-works movie based on the classic comedy trio. By Gil Kaufman Jennifer Hudson Photo: Getty Jennifer Hudson is headed back to the big screen, and you’ll never guess in which movie. The Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer/actress has been cast as a nun in the Farrelly brothers’ long-gestating film “The Three Stooges.” According to The Hollywood Reporter , Hudson will play one of the nuns in the orphanage where the Stooges spend some time as children alongside “Glee” star Jane Lynch, who has been cast as Mother Superior in the film. Hudson’s Sister Rosemary will be among a trio of nuns that reportedly will also include “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David. After years of false starts and attempts to reboot the classic eye-poking, head-bonking comedy franchise with stars such as Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey, the movie now is being headlined by the trio of Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamontopoulos. “The Three Stooges” is slated to hit theaters after Hudson’s already-filmed Winnie Mandela biopic, “Winnie.” Hudson has appeared in a number of other films since her star-making turn in 2006’s “Dreamgirls,” including “Sex and the City,” “The Secret Life of Bees” and the little-seen “Winged Creatures” (also known as “Fragments”). The Three Stooges, the dimwitted trio originated by Moe Howard, Curly Howard and Larry Fine, starred in nearly 200 shorts and movies from 1930 to Moe and Larry’s death in 1975 (Curly passed away in 1952), influencing countless comics along the way. With help from Curly replacements Shemp Howard, Joe Besser and Curly Joe DeRita, the comedy team explored the bromance long before the term was coined, loving and hating each other through numerous adventures that reimagined them as plumbers, soldiers, physicians and all-around numbskulls. Rather than being a biopic, the Farrellys have said in the past that their flick will be a modern-day take on the Stooges, most likely consisting of several short films within the movie. Alex Pettyfer VMAN magazine

“I#39;ve heard I#39;ve been called a bad boy, or difficult,” the actor Alex Pettyfer, 21, says in a profanity-laced interview with VMAN magazine. “Maybe that#39;s because I don#39;t take any bulls—.” Alex Pettyfer isn#39;t making any excuses for his rebellious image in Hollywood. If anything, he#39;s embracing it. The Beastly star, who used to date Glee#39;s Dianna Agron, calls Los Angeles a “s— hole,” and uses a misogynistic expletive to describe the females who inhabit the city. “I wish

Diddy-Dirty Money Stage New York Takeover On Coming Home Tour

Ja Rule, Ashanti also surprise fans before Diddy pays homage to B.I.G. with Bad Boy alums Faith Evans, Black Rob and more at Hammerstein Ballroom. By Rebecca Thomas Diddy performs at the Diddy-Dirty Money Coming Home Tour in New York City Friday Photo: Getty Images NEW YORK — It was the homecoming leg on his Coming Home Tour, so it was only fitting that Harlem-born Diddy threw a Ciroc-soaked “white party” on Friday as Diddy-Dirty Money hit New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The trio worked the dance hits from their Last Train to Paris, but this was a show in three acts, with the mogul/MC reaching back to the dawn of Bad Boy to pay an expansive tribute to “Brooklyn’s Finest” MC, the Notorious B.I.G., and bringing concertgoers along on a visual/sonic journey that spanned his unstoppable career. Diddy-Dirty Money divas Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper preceded the mogul/MC to the stage in looks that seemed to channel Grace Jones: Dawn in a thigh-baring cutout dress and Kalenna in a glittery romper, both sharing the creamy palette with Diddy, who was dressed in a sporty, all-white ensemble. The ladies kicked things off with “Yeah, Yeah You Would” (which features Jones), before an energetic Diddy emerged for the dance-floor banger “Ass on the Floor,” with Swizz Beatz delivering the hook via a pre-taped clip that was mounted on enormous projectors — an artfully executed stand-in used throughout the night for other LTP features like Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. “Ain’t no place like home!” Sean Combs told the excited crowd, touching on his Mt. Vernon, New York, upbringing and breaking down why no other city can match New York’s swag. An emotional undercurrent coursed through the entire show, and the series of delays that plagued Last Train to Paris, 41-year-old Combs’ risk-taking concept album, seemed to be a particularly poignant coda on Friday night. Mr. “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” danced with abandon, his son Justin briefly joining him onstage with some sharp moves of his own. But Justin was only the first of a string of cameos, many from artists who’d once batted on Bad Boy’s chart-busting lineup. After performing “Loving You No More,” “Yesterday” and a moody Sade medley from Dawn and K that seemed to slow things down too much for the club-like atmosphere they’d created, a B.I.G. video montage set the tone for the show’s second act. Memorable images of the young Bedford Stuyvesant MC and budding mogul Puff Daddy flashed across the screen, following a linear “This Is Your Life”- style narrative. Dawn and Kalenna ceded the stage to Diddy entirely as he launched into Bad Boy Records’ shiny-suit era smashes, from “All About the Benjamins” to “Mo Money, Mo Problems.” The New York audience lost it for the familiar classics, but went ‘ham for the familiar faces. Formerly incarcerated Black Rob, in requisite black hoodie, turned up for “Whoa”; newly raven-haired Faith Evans sang a silky version of her “Love Like This”; and Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s Lil’ Cease made a cameo. “I was looking for inspiration before Last Train to Paris, and I was walking in Central Park one day and I heard this song,” Diddy recalled, introducing A Tribe Called Quest MC and longtime Diddy pal Q-Tip. The duo treated fans to a spirited dance-off as they ticked off Tribe standards like “Check the Rhime” and Tip’s “Vivrant Thing.” But the presence of the late Christopher Wallace hovered over the proceedings. Diddy, now rocking a vintage Versace shirt, profusely thanked his fallen brother as more B.I.G. videos played on an overhead screen to cheers and shouts. The standing-room crowd, waving hands and phones in the air, was fired up for the nostalgic trip. Things drew to an end with the other two thirds of DDM taking their places onstage again for the triumphant, introspective “Coming Home,” followed by closer “Hello, Good Morning.” Opening act Lloyd had a few special guests of his own, bringing out his onetime Murder Inc. labelmates Ashanti and Ja Rule, who’s several weeks away from a two-year jail sentence on gun charges. The gruff-voiced Ja showed little signs of rust on his Ashanti-featuring “Always on Time,” the infectious chart-topping single that ruled the summer a decade ago. Lloyd’s Young Money brethren and fellow opener, Tyga, hopped back onstage to drop his “BedRock” verse. And a go-go breakdown of “Lay Your Head” accompanied Wale’s appearance with the crooner.
