Was Lady Gaga Groped By Little Monster In Paris?

Gaga poses for pictures in the streets of Paris after show cancellation, but one fan may have gotten fresh. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga, allegedly getting groped by a fan in Paris on Monday Photo: ANG/Fame Pictures After canceling her show in Paris over the weekend due to stormy weather, Lady Gaga showed her little monsters some love on the streets of the City of Light. Gaga, dressed in a beige, low-cut Victorian-style gown and sporting a beehive and John Lennon-esque sunglasses, emerged on the streets of Paris on Monday to greet screaming fans. The singer posed for pictures, and one fan even got close enough to touch the singer. In a series of photos, the fan, dressed in a white parka and beige knit hat, scarf and gloves, stopped the singer for a hug before accidentally touching Gaga’s breast. The grope took place as the singer was walking away from the encounter. Gaga has been abroad for a slew of dates on her never-ending Monster Ball Tour. She joined Semi Precious Weapons onstage for one of their club gigs in London. She even gave a sneak preview of her forthcoming Born This Way album, which is set for release in early 2011. “Want to hear ‘You and I’? This one is going to be on Born This Way . It’s one of my favorites. The album doesn’t have a bunch of rock ballads or anything, but this is one of them,” she told the crowd at a show in London. “Now, I don’t know if you know this, but for those of you who don’t know, I write all my own music. Every single lyric, melody and note was created by me. I am not manufactured. I’m a bad cat and coming for you ’cause I believe in you and I. It’s not that I don’t like to be humble, it’s just that pop music has a pretty bad rap,” Gaga explained. Related Photos Gaga Groped In Paris? ‘Yogi Bear’: The Reviews Are In!

Is the 3-D cartoon just for kids and woodland creatures? The critics have differing opinions. By Eric Ditzian Boo Boo (voiced by Justin Timberlake) in “Yogi Bear” In 2010, we have seen standout animated fare like “Toy Story 3” and “How to Train Your Dragon” dominate the box office. Now the year greets its final CGI-assisted children’s tale in “Yogi Bear.” The adaptation of Hanna-Barbera’s classic cartoon about picnic-basket-obsessed talking bears won’t come close to the opening grosses of those earlier Pixar and DreamWorks films. Nor has “Yogi Bear” garnered its predecessors’ rave reviews. Yet Warner Bros.’ “Yogi,” coming weeks after “Tangled” and at the same time as the rather intense PG-rated “Tron: Legacy,” could end up faring better than its rather tepid B.O. tracking predicts. Is “Yogi Bear” the right pick for you this weekend? Find out what the critics are saying and then plan accordingly. The Story “The film’s plot has Yogi [Dan Aykroyd] and Boo Boo [ Justin Timberlake ] helping Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh) defend Jellystone from a rapacious mayor (the funny Andrew Daly), who wants to sell off the park’s logging rights to bail out the city budget. The ranger doesn’t want to hear about Yogi’s schemes, of course. He just wants Yogi to act like a bear — rather than water-ski, steal vending machines and build a contrabulous fabtraption of a flying machine for high-tech picnic-grabbing. (The Baskit Nabber 2000, as it’s called, has no seat belts, and its safety information card is just a hand-drawn picture of passengers screaming.)” — Dan Kois, The Washington Post The Comparison to the Cartoon “Those of us who grew up on Yogi Bear cartoons can breathe easy: In his new movie — featuring a 3-D computer-animated Yogi (voiced by Dan Aykroyd) and Boo Boo (voiced by Justin Timberlake) alongside live action actors — our beloved pic-a-nic thief isn’t asked to whore himself by rapping, farting, or dropping pop culture references the way some of his animated brethren have in recent years. … There’s nothing particularly inventive in the plot or grade-school humor, but the movie skates by on the timeless, undemanding charm of watching a tie-wearing bear try to steal people’s lunches.” — Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly The Dissenters “Neither smarter nor dumber than the average family-friendly comedy, ‘Yogi Bear’ is a bland and innocuous small-fry outing that retains a measure of the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon’s charm, though scarcely enough to justify the time, expense and visual-effects trickery it must have taken to inflate an endearing 2D cartoon into a dopey 3D extravaganza. Still, as Fox’s ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ pics made abundantly clear, there’s a sizable audience for incongruous pairings of live-action humans and patently computer-generated critters, suggesting a steady stream of guests at Warners’ picnic table through the holidays, and heavy minivan DVD-player rotation.” — Justin Chang, Variety The Dissenters, Part II “The director, Eric Brevig (‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’), probably did everything he could with the simple-minded screenplay, the dumb jokes, and the general tedium. Studio heads probably instructed him to overdo the 3D gimmicks, too. Who knows, maybe they even told him to prevent Anna Faris from being funny, which I wouldn’t have thought was possible. In a way, though, the film is faithful to the old cartoons, in that it’s grating and tiresome and not suitable for anyone over the age of 4. The animation is better, though.” — Eric D. Snider, Cinematical The Bottom Line “This is a cute movie, a kid’s movie, and a rather good one. The computer-generated bears are adorable — it’s come to this: Computer creations can be adorable — and the movie packs a lot of amusing incidents into a nice, trim 79-minute package. … For single adults, there’s no reason to see it, unless you’re a Yogi Bear completist. But adults with children, who are used to getting bored out of their skulls with children’s fare, may find in this a refreshing and politically charged change of pace.” — Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle Check out everything we’ve got on “Tron: Legacy.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Long Beach (California) Man Killed by Police Was Holding a Water Nozzle, Not a Gun

L.A. NOW Southern California — this just in – Los Angeles Times Man killed by Long Beach police was holding water nozzle, not gun December 13, 2010 | 3:07 pm The 35-year-old Long Beach man killed in an officer-involved shooting Sunday was holding a water spigot, not a gun, Long Beach Police officials said Monday. Two Long Beach police officers responded to a 911 call at 4:40 p.m. Sunday from a neighbor reporting an intoxicated man holding a “six shooter” that looked like an antique gun in the 5300 block of East Ocean Avenue. “The officers had a position of cover and were observing the suspect while other officers were en route,” said Sgt. Dina Zapalski, a spokeswoman for the Long Beach Police Department. Zapalski said Douglas Zerby was in a seated position when he extended his arms while holding the gun-like object and pointed it at an officer. The investigation revealed that Zerby was actually holding a black pistol-grip water nozzle with a metal tip, she said. He was shot in the torso with a shotgun and handgun, then handcuffed, Zapalski said. He died at the scene. Zerby's older sister, Eden Marie Biele, said she was “mortified” upon hearing of her brother's death. “Our brother was killed for no reason,” she said. “We're outraged. You can't get drunk in the city of Long Beach and not get shot? You're trying to do the responsible thing and not drive and you get shot? Is that standard protocol? They didn't wait for backup, they just shot him.” Zerby had been waiting on the stoop for his friend to come home. He often frequented the building after he had been drinking and was known among the neighbors, his sister said. It was a new neighbor who was not familiar with her brother who made the 911 call, she said. The family will be holding a vigil at the scene of the shooting at 5:30 p.m. Monday. GOP Recognizes Paul’s Following With Leadership Post

The New York Times reports during his “20 years in Congress,” Rep. Ron Paul has staked out the lonely end of 434-to-1 votes against legislation that he considers unconstitutional, even on issues as ceremonial as granting Mother Teresa a Congressional Gold Medal.” Now “it appears others are beginning to credit him with some wisdom — or at least acknowledging his passionate following. After years of blocking him from a leadership position, Mr. Paul's fellow Republicans have named him chairman of the House subcommittee on domestic monetary policy, which oversees the Federal Reserve as well as the currency and the valuation of the dollar.” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/13/us/politics/13paul.html?_r=1&ref=us added by: Radical_Centrist

Gov.-elect John Kasich wants to overhaul collective bargaining law

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Public employees who go on strike over labor disputes should automatically lose their jobs, says Gov.-elect John Kasich. “If they want to strike they should be fired,” Kasich said last week. “I really don't favor the right to strike by any public employee. They've got good jobs, they've got high pay, they get good benefits, a great retirement. What are they striking for?” 12Share 47 Comments Kasich has made it clear that dismantling Ohio's collective bargaining law will be a top priority of his administration. In particular, Kasich is going after binding arbitration rules often used to settle police and fire department salary and benefits disputes that he says are costly and bankrupting cities. That in turn drives up the state's share of funding for local government budgets. “You are forcing increased taxes on taxpayers with them having no say,” Kasich said. The Middletown City Council recently passed a resolution asking the Ohio General Assembly to revise the state's collective bargaining law. City Councilman Josh Laubach, who authored the resolution, said the city had to dip into reserves to pay police and fire costs this year and is expecting a $2.5 million increase in safety personnel in 2011 despite adding no new positions, according to the Middletown Journal. But state labor groups have said the incoming governor is wrong, and they are ready to fight him on any attempts to repeal or alter the nearly three-decade-old collective bargaining law. Terry Gallagher, executive director of the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, a group representing about 7,500 policemen, including patrolmen in Parma, Berea, Fairview Park and Westlake, called Kasich's comments “foolish.” “Arbitration is a fair way of doing things — you have a neutral person come in and listen to both sides and make a decision,” Gallagher said. “Kasich doesn't want us to strike and he doesn't want us to collectively bargain, so what is law enforcement left with? Collective begging is what it would amount to.” The 1983 collective bargaining law, which gives public employees a right to unionize, was implemented by a Democratic-controlled legislature and signed by Democratic Gov. Richard F. Celeste. The law, and a 1989 Ohio Supreme Court ruling that addresses it, requires cities to automatically enter into binding arbitration when in a dispute with its safety forces and abide by whatever decision that mediator hands down. added by: figgdimension

WikiLeaks cables: Russia ‘was tracking killers of Alexander Litvinenko but UK warned it off’

The US embassy cables WikiLeaks cables: Russia 'was tracking killers of Alexander Litvinenko but UK warned it off' Claim that British intelligence was incompetent will deepen diplomatic row sparked by move to deport MP's Russian researcher * o o Share o Reddit o Buzz up * Comments (243) * Jamie Doward and Emily Dyer * guardian.co.uk, Saturday 11 December 2010 21.30 GMT * Article history Former Russian Agent Poisoned In London Alexander Litvinenko, in intensive care shortly before his death from poisoning at University College Hospital, London, in 2006. Photograph: Natasja Weitsz/Getty Images Russia was tracking the assassins of dissident spy Alexander Litvinenko before he was poisoned but was warned off by Britain, which said the situation was “under control”, according to claims made in a leaked US diplomatic cable. The secret memo, recording a 2006 meeting between an ex-CIA bureau chief and a former KGB officer, is set to reignite the diplomatic row surrounding Litvinenko's unsolved murder that year, which many espionage experts have linked directly to the Kremlin. The latest WikiLeaks release comes after relations between Moscow and London soured as a result of Britain's decision to expel a Russian parliamentary researcher suspected of being a spy. The memo, written by staff at the US embassy in Paris, records “an amicable 7 December dinner meeting with ambassador-at-large Henry Crumpton [and] Russian special presidential representative Anatoliy Safonov”, two weeks after Litvinenko's death from polonium poisoning had triggered an international hunt for his killers. During the dinner, Crumpton, who ran the CIA's Afghanistan operations before becoming the US ambassador for counter-terrorism, and Safonov, an ex-KGB colonel-general, discussed ways the two countries could work together to tackle terrorism. The memo records that “Safonov opened the meeting by expressing his appreciation for US/Russian co-operative efforts thus far. He cited the recent events in London – specifically the murder of a former Russian spy by exposure to radioactive agents – as evidence of how great the threat remained and how much more there was to do on the co-operative front.” The memo contains an observation from US embassy officials that Safonov's comments suggested Russia “was not involved in the killing, although Safonov did not offer any further explanation”. Later the memo records that Safonov claimed that “Russian authorities in London had known about and followed individuals moving radioactive substances into the city but were told by the British that they were under control before the poisoning took place”. The claim will be rejected in many quarters as a clumsy attempt by Moscow to deflect accusations that its agents were involved in the assassination. Russia says it had nothing to do with the murder, but espionage experts claim the killing would not have been possible without Kremlin backing. Shortly before he died, Litvinenko said he had met two former KGB agents, Dmitry Kovtun and Andrei Lugovoi, on the day he fell ill. Both men deny wrongdoing, but Britain has made a formal request for Lugovoi's extradition following a recommendation by the director of public prosecutions. New evidence linking Russia with the death of Litvinenko was recently produced by his widow, Marina, who procured documents allegedly showing the FSB security service seized a container of polonium in the weeks before the poisoning. Moscow disputes the claims. The allegation that British authorities were monitoring the assassins' progress through London is likely to raise questions about whether Litvinenko was warned his life may have been at risk in the days before he was murdered. Several people familiar with the affair said they thought Safonov's claims implausible, with one saying he had never heard it aired within London intelligence circles before. Nevertheless Safonov's remarks – in effect questioning the competence of Britain's security services – will do little to heal the relationship between London and Moscow. The claims come after Britain announced that Katia Zatuliveter, a 25-year-old Russian working for the Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock, is to be deported amid suspicions she was spying for the Kremlin, a charge she plans to contest.
