Rick Ross Stands By T.I., Talks New Collabos

‘Regardless of what it is, you don’t turn your back on him,’ Ross says of Tip’s legal issues. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: MTV News No matter what, Rick Ross said he’s going to stand by his friend T.I. The King of the South is in some serious trouble and could have his probation revoked after he and his wife were arrested earlier this month on drug charges . “I think just being firm and being men of our word is what that’s about at the end of the day,” Ross said last week in L.A. during VMA weekend about supporting Tip. “Once you become an ally and a partner, you anticipate the ups and the downs. You gotta be a soldier. The shoe is gonna be on the other foot, either way it goes, when you getting money in the streets, period. Just being G’s, man. It is what it is, man. A lot of times, these situations be blown out of proportion and made into a lot bigger than what they are. “As long as the real G’s and the leaders set the example of ‘This is what you do when your brother gets into trouble,’ ” Ross added. “Regardless of what it is, you don’t turn your back on him; you ride with him. … You gotta stick to the script. When situations come, you stay firm. If that’s your homie, that’s your homie.” Several years ago, before Ross and Tip met, Ricky Rozay publicly denounced Tip over a misunderstanding. Since then, however, all ill will has been quashed between the two, and not only have they become cool, they have worked together several times on other artists’ tracks. This year, Ross pulled Tip in on his Teflon Don album via “Maybach Music III.” Tip called on Ross for a track on the upcoming King Uncaged album, “Pledge Allegiance to the Swag.” Ross said “Pledge” and two other new songs were recorded with Tip while the two were in Miami. “I’mma be honest: That was the first time me and the homie actually got in the studio and I saw him work his magic,” Ross recalled. “To be honest, I was blown away by the homie. He came by the spot. He was like, ‘I’m in Miami. I’m in a good mood, big homie.’ He had just tied his knot. Congratulations to him and Tiny. He was like, ‘I’m swinging through the city.’ I was like, ‘Come through. I’m over at my spot. The Swisher Suite. Let’s get it in.’ The homie came through, walked in. I had the beat on. Your man Tip, 10 minutes tops, ‘Let’s record.’ The homie laid his verse. We played some more music. Another 10 minutes, laid another verse. So he actually did two features for me. I did his feature. We got it all done in a matter of time. Left, went to the club after that.” What do you expect from Ross and Tip’s new collabos? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Rick Ross (Hip-Hop)

Jay-Z And Eminem Bring Fans To ‘Tears’ At Final Stadium Show

‘Jay’s struggle and Eminem’s recovery, I think it comes off as incredible,’ fan/ New Edition luminary Michael Bivins says. By James Dinh, with reporting by Hilary Crosley Eminem and Jay-Z Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage All good things come to an end as Jay-Z and Eminem wrapped up the fourth and final concert of their Home and Home shows on Tuesday night. The MCs, who brought out a slew of special guests to make the event even more spectacular, had fans in awe as they left Yankee Stadium. MTV News caught up with a few of the show’s attendees who described the hip-hop extravaganza as nothing short of incredible. “It was wonderful to see two of the greatest MCs in the history [of hip-hop], Jay-Z and Eminem, come together and put this on at Yankee Stadium,” Eddie Blackmon said. Among the devoted fans was Michael Bivins, a founding member of the illustrious R&B/hip-hop groups New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe. Bivins said that, in the end, the two rappers’ personal tribulations have helped them to succeed. “These brothers have been through something — Jay’s struggle and Eminem’s recovery — and it comes across as entertainment, and I think it comes off as incredible,” he said. The presence of two superstar MCs on one stage was thrilling, but the show’s guest appearances also earned rave reviews: Kanye West, Beyonc

What Is Taylor Swift’s Post-VMA Plan?

Following her ‘Innocent’ VMA performance, singer is gearing up for the release of her third album, Speak Now. By James Dinh Taylor Swift performs at the 2010 VMAs Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Fresh off the heals of her much-talked-about performance at the 2010 Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift is about to take the rest of the year by storm after a relatively low-key summer. The 20-year-old is gearing up for the release of her new album, Speak Now . And if “Innocent,” the song she debuted at Sunday’s VMAs , is any indication of her upcoming material, Swift scorners should beware: She may be singing about you. “For me, I write everything that I live, so you’ve got to give yourself a little bit of time to live a lot of things so you can write about a lot of things. And my only option is to write about what I’ve been through and what I’ve lived,” Swift told fans of her new album. “Each song is a different confession to a different person, and I’m very excited for you to hear them.” The album may not be out until October 25, but the singer has already given fans a taste of her new music with the release of the first single, “Mine,” which many have said conquers a more mature lyrical vision. The songstress chose Roman White (who also directed “You Belong With Me” and “Fifteen”) to helm direction for the clip, which depicts Swift and her lover from their first interaction through their marriage. The song, which the singer says is about “finding someone who would make you believe in love and realize that it could work out,” had a bright start due to her ever-dependable fanbase. In early August, “Mine” made history as the singer became only the second female artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart to debut multiple songs (“Mine” and “Today Was a Fairy Tale”) in the top five within a one-year time frame. But the songstress hasn’t just been working on her album. Swift also made time this past year for some other important priorities. During the days of immediate relief for the catastrophic Nashville floods , the country superstar helped her hometown by donating $500,000 and later performing as part of the Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery charity concert. “Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly,” Swift wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press. “Nashville is my home and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis.” Despite her role in the movie “Valentine’s Day,” Swift told MTV News earlier this year that she’s staying clear of the acting gigs for now and remains focused on her music, saying, “I’m not making movies right now. I’m making music. That’s always been my number-one love.” One question many ponder is whether or not the teen sensation will be able to match the sales and critical reception of 2008’s Grammy-winning album Fearless. Some have even predicted that Swift may be the one to shake up the current state of the music industry with U.S. debut week sales of 1 million units. “It feels like if anybody can do it now, she could be the one,” Will Botwin, president/CEO of Red Light Management and ATO Records told Billboard . “She has the sales base and heat from the last few albums. And with all the amazing things she has going on, she is as likely as anybody to reach a million units, especially with the efforts of Big Machine and Universal behind her.” Until then, Swift will continue her media blitz for the release of Speak Now, which hits stores October 25. The songstress is reportedly set to hit the stage the same day of her album drop for a performance on the “Today” show and will also grace the November cover of Glamour magazine. Matthews Admits: Maybe I Was Smart Not to Run For Office This Year

Well you have to give Chris Matthews credit for admitting the obvious. On Monday’s Hardball, as he overlooked the bad environment for Democrats this midterm season, Matthews appeared grateful he didn’t make his much rumored run for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat, as he asked one of his guests: “Do you think it could be the year where guys…like me were smart not to make the run?” [ audio available here ] The admission came during a segment in which Matthews, the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza and local radio talk show host, Dan Gaffney of WGMD, were breaking down the prospects for Christine O’Donnell to upset Republican Mike Castle and go on to win the general election for the Deleware Senate seat with Gaffney explaining that it was a distinct possibility since there is “a lot of anti-establishment, anti-incumbent sentiment” in that state, calling that race “a crap-shoot.” This caused Matthews to wonder, if in fact, that attitude extended to Pennsylvania as he asked Gaffney the following question: Let me go to Gaffney, a fellow Irishman, while I’ve got you on the show, I’ve got to ask you this. Do you think it could be the year where guys like Beau Biden and guys like me were smart not to make the run? I’m looking at this situation. You cannot predict this year! It is a crap-shoot! And they’re so anti-establishment out there, that they recognize your name and they say, “I knew that name three months ago.” They don’t like you. Isn’t that true? The following exchanges were aired on the September 13 edition of Hardball: CHRIS MATTHEWS: Welcome back to Hardball. The Republican primary in Delaware, the little state of Delaware, tomorrow could have big implications for the Republicans nationwide and their ability to take over the U.S. Senate, which is possible. Republican Mike Castle is fending off a tough challenge from Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell and polls show she’s in the race of his life, actually that’s a close, too close to call. … MATTHEWS: Joining me is Delaware radio talk show host Dan Gaffney and WashingtonPost.com managing editor Chris Cillizza. Dan, give me a sense do the voters of Delaware know how important this vote is tomorrow. That this could affect the, I guess you could call it the outside chance of the Republicans grabbing the Senate as well as the House, come November. DAN GAFFNEY: Yeah, I think many of them do, but some of my talk radio callers don’t care. They are more interested in winning the actual battle than the war and there’s such a wind of anti-Castle, you know there’s a wind of anti-Castle wind in the air and even when presented the fact that Castle has a better chance of beating the Democrats, many people don’t care. They want to vote him out any way. MATTHEWS: Boy that sounds like the Democratic left sometimes. That sounds like November Doesn’t Count. I grew up with it, it’s called NDC. Cillizza, you’re, you’re shaking your head positively. The one thing about a polarized electorate is it doesn’t care about practical electoral consequences. CHRIS CILLIZZA, WASHINGTON POST: Yep. MATTHEWS: By the way, I want to give a salute, if not a positive salute, a reality check to the far right. Bob Bennett was knocked off, the guy that beat him, Lee is going to win the general. Crist, Crist has been bumped out of his party but Rubio could well win that. He’s ahead in the polls down there. Specter was knocked out of his party, but Toomey is well ahead by about seven points in PA. And who am I missing? Murkowski. Well I gotta bet, what’s his name up there, Joe Miller is gonna win that, or if he gets in that thing clean, one on one. So you could argue that the Tea Parties have had a pretty good record of positioning themselves to win generals. Maybe not in Nevada, but other places. CILLIZZA: Chris, first of all, isn’t it amazing that we’re talking about Delaware? You’ve got the New Hampshire Senate race, you’ve got New York, you’ve got Wisconsin, we’re talking about Delaware. This is a state we never thought we would be talking about. Number two, that states you just listed: Alaska, Utah, those kind of states. The one thing that’s different, this is Delaware. This is a Democratic state. Mike Castle’s been elected for more than 40 years. He’s been the governor of the state. He’s been the at-large representative. This is not a state where whoever winds up being the Republican nominee, Utah, Alaska, has a big leg up in winning. Not sure if they’re gonna win, but that’s a big leg up. MATTHEWS: Okay let me give you, let me give you, let me give you some history, young fellow. Joe Biden, back in 1972, bumped out a guy who had won the House seat, and let’s go in here Dan, you’re the expert, had been a House member, a Senate member, for x many terms, and a governor, just like this guy Mike Castle. Joe Biden, at the age of 29, knocked him out of the seat and held it for what? 40 years. So isn’t it possible that Christine O’Donnell could be a senator for life. We don’t know. GAFFNEY: Well let me tell you, what my original opinion was that if she wins the primary tomorrow, we would say “Hello, Senator Coons.” That was my original opinion. MATTHEWS: Right. GAFFNEY: But now I’m starting to think that if she pulls it off tomorrow, if, that’s a big “if”, she could do anything. If she can beat Mike Castle in this state, she can do anything. MATTHEWS: What’s your state like these days? Is it as unhappy as the rest of the country and could it say, you know what if she isn’t quite prepared or maybe this other fellow Coons has more executive experience, the usual logic way we make decisions may not be in play this year, there’s so much anger. GAFFNEY: No it’s very emotional Chris. MATTHEWS: Yeah. GAFFNEY: It’s very emotional. There’s a lot of anti-establishment, anti-incumbent sentiment. The Tea Party movement is strong. There is a strong sentiment, especially in the southern part of the state. There are only three counties, the two lower counties, much more conservative, much more likely to go to Christine O’Donnell. The upper county, Newscastle, is urban, it’s the city of Wilmington. Much more likely to go toward Mike Castle. However, will he win enough in Newcastle to take the whole state? It’s a crap-shoot. All of my political pundit friends are saying the same thing to me, “I don’t know.” MATTHEWS: Well Let’s talk about the country. Chris go back, let’s pull back and look at the whole country. CILLIZZA: Sure. MATTHEWS: People watching now from California want to know this. It’s possible with Boxer in play, with Patty Murray in play, with Harry Reid in play, with Russ Feingold in play- CILLIZZA: Yep. MATTHEWS: That the Democrats could lose the Senate. It’s very possible, on a bad night, a what do you call it, a wave night, well you’re the expert, right? Delaware matters. CILLIZZA: Look I would say Delaware, you used the word in the intro Chris – shoe-in. And I thought to myself, that’s exactly right. We considered this like, I met Chris Coons, I like Chris Coons, I didn’t think Chris Coons was gonna beat Mike Castle. I agree that Christine O’Donnell, you never know what’s going to happen if she wins, but she’s not as strong a candidate as Mike Castle in the general election. Doesn’t mean she can’t win, but she’s not as strong a candidate. So if you take Delaware and move it into the “We don’t know” category. Now you’re looking at rather than winning two out of the three of Wisconsin, Washington and California, now you’re talking about winning all three. Is it possible? Yes it’s absolutely possible. MATTHEWS: Ha! I love it! CILLIZZA: Polling, polling in all three suggests it could happen, but it seems odd to me. I think Wisconsin, in order, I think Wisconsin, California, Washington, even the most sort of optimistic Republican strategists I talk to say, “Look we’d love to win two out of three of them that would make a great night.” But two out of three and losing Delaware that means they’re probably not in the majority. MATTHEWS: Okay there’s others than. I think you’re so smart. Let me go to Gaffney, a fellow Irishman, while I’ve got you on the show, I’ve got to ask you this. GAFFNEY: Well I think Beau Biden, yeah it is true. Beau Biden should have gotten in this year. I mean he, he probably is… MATTHEWS: Could he have beaten either of these candidates? Could have beaten Castle or beaten O’Donnell? GAFFNEY: Yes, I think he could have. Not that I would’ve supported him but I think he could. Yes. MATTHEWS: Really? GAFFNEY: Beau Biden? Absolutely.

Can 30 Seconds To Mars Upset Lady Gaga For Video Of The Year?

Jared Leto recounts creating epic ‘Kings and Queens’ video. By James Montgomery 30 Seconds To Mars Photo: MTV News Like pretty much everything they do, 30 Seconds To Mars’ “Kings and Queens” video was very much a labor of love — and absolute, over-the-top insanity. Filmed over the course of several (very long) nights in greater Los Angeles , in locations that ran the gamut from Jared Leto’s house to the iconic Santa Monica Pier, it features an army of bike-riding extras, a fire-breathing clown, a galloping stallion, a screaming eagle and enough magic-hour footage to give Roger Deakins pause (look it up). Oh, and of course, Leto directed it all, and he and his 30STM-mates do all of their own stunts. Quite simply, it’s the kind of big, ballsy rock video that (sadly) doesn’t get made all that often these days. And, perhaps in recognition of that — and everything that went into its creation — “Kings and Queens” has been nominated for four awards at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , including Best Rock Video and the night’s biggest prize: Video of the Year. Leto was also nominated for Best Direction, and “Kings” picked up a nod for Best Art Direction. It’s an impressive haul — almost more than any artist not named Lady Gaga or Eminem — but Leto and company aren’t letting it go to their heads. Quite the opposite, in fact. “I was completely blown away. It was so unexpected that my first reaction was, ‘Holy f—ing sh–!’ ” Leto told MTV News last month , after learning of 30STM’s nominations. “We had no idea this was the way these things worked. It was the furthest thing from our minds. And then someone sent me the list of artists we’re nominated with, and we couldn’t believe that either. It really is exciting.” In other words, 30 Seconds To Mars still consider themselves to be VMA underdogs — even with their legion of loyal fans (the Echelon) voting early and often to put them over the top. And that scruffy spirit is part of what makes “Kings and Queens” so memorable. It is most definitely a massive thing, but it’s a spiritual endeavor, too: a celebration of a band, their fans and an unyielding sense of purpose. “There’s a sense of community in the song, there’s a feeling of atmosphere and a bit of a dream, as well … there’s something about the song and the intent that matches the visuals as well,” Leto said of the video . “It was exciting to have ownership of these public spaces, to reclaim ownership, and to ride down both sides of the street.” And that sense of self-empowerment is evident in several scenes: the silhouetted image of cyclists climbing a hill unencumbered, the epic “Circle of Death” bike stunt filmed at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, the blink-and-you-miss-it shot of a man, face covered, tossing a bouquet of flowers (an homage to street artist Banksy). The message, it seems, is clear: There is might in masses, a freedom in unity and strength in conviction. And all it takes to harness any of it is will. So though they may consider themselves the underdogs, there’s a very real possibility that, come Sunday, 30 Seconds to Mars may shock the world and knock off heavyweights like Gaga and Em for Video of the Year. If there is a movement under way, “Kings And Queens” may very well be the visual representation of it. Even if the band does go home empty-handed, Leto probably won’t be all that upset. After all, just getting “Kings and Queens” made was an effort of Herculean proportions. But thanks to all his effort, he now has a lifetime of memories, which is sort of the point of 30 Seconds to Mars’ grand ambitions in the first place. “From the beginning, this was an adventure, because when you hop on a bicycle and ride through the city streets at night, you revert to this nostalgic state,” he said. “You’re flooded with youth and ambition. “So we were really happy to have done this, and to have shared that spirit with everyone who took part,” he continued. “And just the other day, I was driving by Hollywood and Highland, and I had this flashback to when we shut it down and rode down it with a gang of hundreds of people. I’ll never drive down it again without remembering that.” The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News’ VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday. Social Engineering Bill In Senate

A social engineering bill to restrict residence in the suburbs and rural areas and force Americans into city centers has passed the United States Senate Banking Committee and is on the fast track to passage in the Senate. The bill is called the Livable Communities Act (SB 1619) and it was introduced by corruptocrat outgoing Senator Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.). It seeks to fulfill the United Nation’s plan Agenda 21, adopted at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and signed onto by “New World Order” President George H.W. Bush. This bill is designed to destroy your community. According to the non-profit American Policy Center the bill: • Is a blueprint for the transformation of our society into total Federal control. • Will enforce Federal Sustainable Development zoning and control of local communities. • Will create a massive new “development” bureaucracy. • Will drive up the cost of energy to heat and cool your home. • Will drive up the cost of gasoline as a way to get you out of your car. • Will force you to spend thousands of dollars on your home in order to comply. A carrot and stick policy will be used to get your local government to sign on. The carrot is billions of dollars in grants available if your local government agrees to amend zoning laws that restrict housing in outlying areas, forcing people to give up their homes and land and move into the city center. The stick will be denial of the funds and bad publicity generated by “Green” organizations criticizing government officials for turning down free money. The rub is the grants will come with strings attached that force local governments to bend to the will of the Feds. The idea of these social engineering initiatives is to force people to live in a congested area in high rise buildings with housing on the upper floors and stores on the bottom. The whole area will be linked by mass transit creating the “utopian” communities loved by socialists. The result will be higher costs for housing (because overcrowding will make housing space a premium) and goods and services (because of less choice and competition) and less freedom to move about (because cars won’t be necessary and parking space will be prohibitively expensive). As we pointed out here President Barack Obama is — not surprisingly — an advocate of this type of nonsense. And his cabinet is populated by elitists who think they know better than you how you should live. It is imperative that you call your two Senators immediately and tell them to oppose Dodd’s SB1619. http://www.personalliberty.com/conservative-politics/liberty/social-engineering-… Library Of Congress http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c111 :1:./temp/~c111C4MupU:e7553: added by: ReverandG

Kanye West Drops ‘G.O.O.D. Friday’

Kid Cudi, Common, Big Sean, Pusha T and Charlie Wilson are all featured on new track. By Shaheem Reid Kanye West Photo: Gabriela Maj/ Getty Images They still haven’t made an official announcement, but for all intents and purposes, can we just acknowledge that Pusha T is at least part of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music family? Several weeks ago, Push danced around the subject , saying, “I mean, you know, I been to Hawaii. Hawaii is a nice place. Good music is made down there, ya know? So, yeah, I was there. I can’t say too much about that. I think everybody’s gonna be in for a big surprise. A very big surprise.” On Friday (September 10), Mr. West dropped the latest offering from his G.O.O.D. Friday movement, also called “G.O.O.D Friday.” The song features Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Common, Charlie Wilson and … Pusha T. “As ‘Ye flips the piano, the mood swings like the change of a channel,” Pusha raps on the record. “He’s heating up like they wrapped him in flannel. Selling kilos through your iPod Nano.” Cudi sings, “I know the city getting ready for me,” while Common is also right in pocket with lyrics such as: “I’m in thinker mode/ Eyes load, I let the sky hold the thoughts.” Common and West exchange bars at the beginning. Big Sean talks about his exploits with some fast women. Aside from the new song, there was also that Pharrell co-sign of Push heading to ‘Ye’s label . “I think that’s gonna be amazing,” Pharrell said. “[Pusha] had been working with ‘Ye. I told him, ‘You should do that.’ We made a lot of great records together, and we’ll continue to make great records. I want him to grow and get other experiences out in the world. He’s gotta figure that out. He’s gotta go out there and see it. Make no mistake, lyrically, that kid is one of the greats — him and his brother. Lyrically, those guys are really serious. They’re well-respected by all of the good dudes. Jay-Z loves them, T.I., Jeezy loves them. All of your favorite rappers, they appreciate a Pusha line or a Malice line. They do. I’m saying with respect for all those artists — I work with those artists. I know the conversations we had. They like what they do. It’s been a long time coming for Pusha and what it is he’s trying to do. He’s gonna get it. And Malice too.” Oh, and Kanye shouted Pusha out onstage during his remarkable Rosewood private show in New York last month. Enough evidence for you? Let us know your thoughts on the Pusha T/ G.O.O.D. Music situation in the comments, and share your reviews of the new song! Related Artists Kanye West
