Source: Patrick McMullan / Getty Linda Fairtein Calls Netflix’s ‘When They See Us’ An “Outright Fabrication” The main woman responsible for incarcerating five innocent teens is, of course, still defending her atrocious actions. In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal , former Manhattan District Attorney’s office prosecutor Linda Fairstein slammed When They See Us , the Netflix mini-series based on the Central Park Five case. Fairstein argues that the four-part series omits crucial details, including a “riot” involving more than 30 people that allegedly went down on April 19, 1989 — the same date of the attack on the Central Park jogger Trisha Meili. Fairstein claims that reporters and Ava DuVernay have only focused on the five accused teens and the one victim in the jogger attack, not the riot. Not sh**. The movie is about the CENTRAL PARK FIVE and the JOGGER CASE. Anywaaays, Fairstein went on to say that the movie missed “the larger picture of that terrible night: a riot in the dark that resulted in the apprehension of more than 15 teenagers who set upon multiple victims.” She continued that on that night “eight others were attacked, including two men who were beaten so savagely that they required hospitalization for head injuries.” She then argues that there’s compelling evidence that the Central Park five were involved in the “riot.” Again, what’s that got to do with the jogger case????????? The one in which Matias Reyes was proven to be Meili’s attacker thanks to a confession and DNA evidence. But Fairstein kept on about the OTHER alleged attacks that happened that night: “The other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated. Nothing Mr. Reyes said exonerated these five of those attacks. And there was certainly more than enough evidence to support those convictions of first-degree assault, robbery, riot and other charges,” Fairstein writes. Fairstein also denies the portrayal of the five teens being held without food or deprived of their parents’ company during questioning: “If that had been true, surely they would have brought those issues up and prevailed in pretrial hearings on the voluntariness of their statements, as well as in their lawsuit against the city. They didn’t, because it never happened,” Fairstein writes. Fairstein also says that DuVernay portrays her as an “prosecutor and a bigot, the police as incompetent or worse, and the five suspects as innocent of all charges against them” and claims that “none of this is true.” She finishes by arguing that “it is a wonderful thing that these five men have taken themselves to responsible positions and community respect,” but reiterated that DuVernay “ignored so much of the truth about the gang of 30 and about the suffering of their victims” and described this as an “outrage.” Ava’s response to Linda’s “outrage?” The filmmaker responded to the op-ed on Twitter, calling Fairstein’s words “expected and typical.” Then she simply added, “Onward.” Expected and typical. Onward… https://t.co/phJtFpvH0a — Ava DuVernay (@ava) June 11, 2019 Our thoughts exactly. We’ll leave Fairstein to worry about stepping down from more boards and her book publisher dropping her like a hot ceramic plate.

So every time that I keep traveling, like, my feet and my legs, they swell up. Like, I had really bad ‘cankles.’ Then after my shows, I wasn’t really feeling it when I performing, but I would really feel a lot of back pains. And then on top of that, my stitches around my boobs, on the outside, are completely healed, but the inside, you know, you still got stitches in the inside, in my breasts, so they’ve slowly got to heal.” The Bronx native is scheduled to perform on June 16th at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. There is no word of her cancelling that performance so hopefully she will be healthy enough to take the stage. This story was originally published on MadameNoire.com . Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Chicago Police have released an audio recording of the 911 call made on behalf of Jussie Smollett back in late January. The call was placed by Smollett’s manager, Frank Gatson … who reported that the Empire star had been the victim of a racist, homophobic assault after leaving a Subway restaurant in the Windy City. This, of course, is what Smollett has alleged the very beginning of this crazy saga. “I just need the police to come by. I work for an artist. I don’t really want to say his name,” Gatson tells a 911 dispatcher at 2:22 a.m., adding: “He states he went to Subway … and two guys – somebody jumped him or something like that. I just want to report it and make sure he’s alright.” A little odd, right? Gatson doesn’t sound especially panicked in the call, but he does sound as if he’s relaying the story that Smollett has spelled out for him. Gatson goes on to claim Smollett “was cool” and “didn’t want me to call you guys,” only for the operator to say that Smollett had to report the alleged crime himself, not Gatson. “He’s definitely gonna make the report. I’m gonna make him make the report,” Gatson says. He proceeds to talk about the “attackers” and how “they put a noose around his neck” and says the entire situation is “really f-cked up.” Police had said the 911 call was made 40 minutes after Smollett got back to his Chicago apartment. “I just think he’s startled. I’m scared and I don’t know what it is,” Gatson adds in the video below. “They put a noose around his neck. They didn’t do anything with it, but put it around his neck. That’s pretty f-cked up to me. Sorry for saying it like that.” Jussie Smollett 911 Call: Released! Again: HUH?!? This is a major reason why Smollett’s description of what transpired on the street that night many months ago has never really added up. He has alleged that he was beaten up by two white men who screamed about “MAGA Country” and who trashed him for being black and gay — and yet he had no wounds from the incident? A noose was simply placed gently around his neck? He didn’t need to be rushed to the hospital? Smollett was arrested several weeks after the supposed assault went down because police were convinced he falsified his official report. He was then cleared of all charges in late March and, to the total shock of many observers, set free. Many members of the Chicago police force, along with the city’a mayor, railed against this decision, however. “This is a whitewash of justice,” a visibly angry Rahm Emanuel told reporters after Smollett was released and cleared. He then laid hard into Smollett for allegedly lying about being the victim of a hate crime: “You have a person using hate crime laws that are on the books to protect people who are minorities from violence to then turn around and use those laws to advance your career and your financial reward. “Is there no decency in this man?” Smollett stands by his original story. He maintains that he was attacked for his race and his sexuality and has thanked the supporters who have stood by him this whole time, which includes a handful of Empire cast members. Does this mean Jussie may someday return to the Fox drama? No, never, we can now confirm .
NOW: Matthew Kinne has been denied bond. pic.twitter.com/TzkmymCCrv — Amanda WTVA (@WTVAAMANDA) May 24, 2019 Ex-Officer Matthew Kinne Accused Of Murdering Dominique Clayton The family of a Mississippi woman is looking for answers after she was murdered allegedly by the police officer she was romantically involved with. Dominique Clayton, 32, of Memphis was shot to death in her home on May 19. Fox 13 reports that Oxford police officer Matthew Kinne was arrested and charged in connection with Clayton’s murder. Family members told local news station that Clayton and Officer Kinne were having an affair. Oxford police said former Officer Matthew Kinne killed her prior to his termination because he wanted to cover up their affair. Clayton family attorney Carlos Moore is calling for the death penalty in the case saying this is capital murder, being that Kinne allegedly broke into Clayton’s house to kill her, reports Fox 13. “If you do decide to charge this man with capital murder and if the jury decides to convict him, I will happily join the family on the front row of death by firing squad,” Moore said. Moore said that at the time of the killing, it is believed that Kinne was in uniform and on duty. He said witnesses claim they saw Kinne’s police cruiser on the street Saturday night. “He was on duty, there will be a civil rights violation action filed against the city, as well as Matthew Kinne in his official capacity,” said Moore. According to Moore, Kinne would regularly go to Clayton’s house between the hours of 1:30 and 4 a.m. while on duty. “She thought that she was pregnant, she was late, and she did think that she was pregnant. And she did tell Matthew Kinne she was pregnant by him,” Moore said. Kinne is being held without bond. A GoFundMe has been set up for Clayton’s four children, one of which found her dead after the shooting.
