Best Music winners gleefully redo acceptance speech. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz LMFAO at the 2012 MTV Move Awards on Sunday Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ FilmMagic UNIVERSAL CITY, California — So, how much fun is it to win an MTV Movie Award ? Pretty darn fun, it turns out, especially if you’re LMFAO . The “Party Rock Anthem” duo picked up their first Golden Popcorn for Best Music, and the win was everything they hoped it would be — except for one thing: their acceptance speech. “It went good, but I feel like our acceptance speech was circumcised,” RedFoo said. “It got clipped up, because they said, ‘You’ve only got 12 seconds,’ and 12 seconds, to me, that’s too short. I’m at least a two-minute brother. But 12 seconds, I can’t figure it all out,” he said, with a not-at-all subtle gesture. “I can’t even pull it all out.” We decided to give the guys another shot at their speech, which they happily accepted with a two-minute thank you/rant. “Oh man, that was a shocker,” RedFoo said as if they had just won the award. “We want to thank so many people. First mom, she helped get it in there.” “Pops, he really got it in there,” Sky Blu added. “Pops got it in moms, which really got us out,” Foo said. “Grandma, she made the name. She took us to our first ‘Project X,’ even though we [won] for ’21 Jump Street.’ Sway, because we’ve known Sway from playing basketball back in the day,” they added of MTV News’ beloved Sway Calloway. “And all the sexy ladies in the audience: I want you for tonight, baby!” “Thank everybody, and we want to do our celebration, LMFAO-style,” Foo said, before he and Sky Blu broke out into their shuffle dance. “Everybody, Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Check us out on tour, baby!” Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. See what just happened at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards ! At Movie Awards, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone tease favorite moments from November release. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Nikki Reed Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — As fans face the end of “The Twilight Saga” in November with the release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” they are beginning to wonder what the best scenes in the highly anticipated release might be. Well, when MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , they (sort of) revealed the one scene they are each looking forward to Twi-hards seeing later this year. “Yes! Oh, man! I can’t really talk about it, though. I’m not allowed to,” Rathbone said. “If you just noticed, I went to a happy place and I think everybody’s going to really love it. The littlest hints? It’s awesome.” While it’ll be a while before we see what that awesome yet vague scene is, Reed had some more specific details for her #1 pick. “Well, you never know what’s going to end up in there. Let’s see … There was a pretty kick-ass battle sequence that I did with two of the other girls that I think should be pretty cool, if they leave it in there,” she said. “So I’m looking forward to that ’cause we trained for it for a while.” She then gave just enough extra information to keep fans salivating until November when they take their last bite out of the franchise. “[We did] a little fight training. It was me and Ashley [Greene] and Kristen [Stewart], and we did this like three girls back-to-back thing where we beat up some huge dudes,” she recalled. “That’s always fun.” At the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” won Movie of the Year and Best Kiss . Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney joke about forming a T. Rex cover band with Depp and Matthew McConaughey. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Johnny Depp and the Black Keys perform at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The 2012 MTV Movie Awards only just ended, but we can’t get over the epic onscreen performance/award presentation between the Black Keys and Johnny Depp. Not to mention the fact that they were introduced by rock gods Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith. When MTV News caught up with the Keys themselves, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, backstage after their performance, we asked them how they were feeling after coming offstage. “Super normal, that’s a normal moment for us,” Auerbach joked. “Yeah that’s our normal lives, hanging out with rock stars and movie stars, you know. It was actually a little boring.” “I was trying to hold back yawns,” added Carney. We then tried to get to the bottom of how the unexpected collaboration came to fruition, but even the Keys themselves seemed to have no idea. “I don’t know, I think MTV has a random computer generator,” Auerbach joked, with Carney chiming in, “It was supposed to be us and Regis Philbin, but we rejected it.” In all seriousness, the duo had nothing but praise for their guest star, particularly his preparation and skills on the guitar. “He’s a really good guitar player,” Carney said. “Yeah, no joke. He’s a really good guitar player,” Auerbach reiterated. So now that they’ve played with one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, what other movie stars will the Keys be collaborating with in the future? “Matthew McConaughey on bongos,” Carney joked. “We’re going to start a T. Rex cover band with Johnny Depp and Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Finn.” And now that they’ve finished their work for the night, will the guys be meeting up with Depp after the show? “We’re all going to go meet up at Se
‘Hunger Games’ star beats out Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the coveted Golden Popcorn. By Ryan J. Downey Josh Hutcherson wins at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — “The Hunger Games” stormed the box office to the tune of nearly $400 million, and at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards , the man fans know and love as Peeta Mellark clutched a different type of riches in his hand: a Golden Popcorn. Thanks to the massive number of fans who voted for him, Josh Hutcherson took home the award for Best Male Performance at the 21st annual awards show. “Oh, my god. I’ve wanted to hold a Golden Popcorn since I was like 4 years old. This is incredible,” he said from the stage, as he accepted the award from Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. “It’s insane too, because every single one of those actors I admire and I want to be, so to even be up here is blowing my mind right now.” Hutcherson thanked “Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins, director Gary Oldman, his producers like Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, Lionsgate and, of course, the fans. “You guys are the best fans in the world,” he gushed. “You’re crazy and passionate and you make our job amazing.” The 19-year-old Kentucky-born actor joined an esteemed list of A-listers, guy’s guys and heartthrobs who have taken home the esteemed award, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio. The former child star beat out a formidable array of challengers who all more than earned their places in the category: , Channing Tatum , Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt . Radcliffe was nominated for his final performance as the world’s most beloved boy wizard in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Tatum cruised into the category for his role opposite Rachel McAdams in the tear-jerking romantic drama “The Vow,” which also earned him a nomination for Best Kiss. Gosling, who won the Best Kiss category once upon a time (with McAdams) thanks to “The Notebook,” was nominated for the darkly pensive and critically acclaimed drama “Drive.” Gordon-Levitt, who we’ll be seeing again in “The Dark Knight Rises” this summer, gave a nuanced performance in “50/50.” Anticipation for the next entry in the “Hunger Games” series, “Catching Fire,” is already running high. Earlier in the week, “John Carter” star Taylor Kitsch shot down rumors that he’d play dreamy District 4 tribute Finnick Odair, something Robert Pattinson debunked himself, as well. The Girl on Fire and the Boy Who Lived are destined for Golden Popcorn greatness, while big things are in store for ‘Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Magic Mike’ fans as well. By Josh Wigler Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Happy MTV Movie Awards day, and may the odds be ever in your favor! You have no shortage of films and stars to root for when tuning into the big show tonight (June 3) at 9 p.m. ET, and that only makes the decisions harder. How can you possibly choose between supporting the Boy Who Lived’s last night at the Movie Awards and Katniss Everdeen’s first time in the arena? Too much pressure! Still, as in every competition, there will be winners and losers at this year’s show, with plenty of cause for triumph and heartbreak. And while we’re still hours away from knowing exactly who those victors are, we’ve got some sneaking suspicions about who will wind up owning the night. Keep reading for our predictions: “The Hunger Games” Before Iron Man and the rest of “The Avengers” sucked all the air out of the box office, 2012’s biggest commercial titan was the Girl on Fire. Tonight at the Movie Awards, Katniss doesn’t have to worry about Earth’s mightiest heroes — only Captain America and Thor are nominated for Best Hero , and it will take a miracle to boost them to the top — and can instead focus on main rivals “Bridesmaids” and “Harry Potter.” Fans have rallied behind “Hunger Games” in a massive way over the past year, and with a leading nine nominations to its name, the odds are most certainly in this movie’s favor for ruling the show tonight. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” This is Harry’s final time to shine at the Movie Awards. As the fourth highest-grossing picture of all time, it’s safe to say that there are more than a few fans hoping for some good old-fashioned “Deathly Hallows” domination. Best Cast should be a lock for “Potter,” if only to acknowledge the phenomenal work of scenery-chewers Alan Rickman and Ralph Fiennes. It’s neck-and-neck between Potter and Katniss for Best Hero, but we’re placing our money on the Boy Wizard. And a Movie of the Year win is not out of the question, either. It has a huge obstacle to overcome in the increasingly hot “Hunger Games,” but as Lord Voldemort learned the hard way, you can never put Potter down for the count. “The Dark Knight Rises” Fans No matter who you’re rooting for at the Movie Awards, it’s the fans who will walk away the winners — Batman fans in particular. Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman will all be on hand to present exclusive “Dark Knight Rises” footage at the show, in case you haven’t heard. Though we’re still in the dark regarding what exactly we’ll see, Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton has seen the top-secret footage, and he’s “telling you, it’s good.” Expect this footage to be the talk of the town (or at least the Twitterverse) long after the show ends. Shirtless-Men Enthusiasts Another someone with an outside shot at dominating the Movie Awards conversation tonight is Channing Tatum, who finds himself nominated for multiple awards, including Best Kiss and Best Hero. Don’t count on him winning either of those awards — the former is all “Twilight,” and the latter is a battle of the bows and wands — but who needs a Golden Popcorn statuette when you have abs to put Taylor Lautner to shame? There’s growing buzz that Tatum is going to bring some of his “Magic Mike” shirtless magic to Movie Awards viewers tonight, so if you’re a fan of hot men sans clothes, you might be this year’s biggest winner. Russell Brand Finally, hats off to the man who’s going to keep the trains powered by farts tonight: Russell Brand, host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Mark Wahlberg’s threats aside, we’re very confident Brand is going to absolutely tear it up at the show this year, if his past performances as host of the VMAs are any indication. ‘I’m so worried about how we’re going to vote for Best Kiss,’ Patrick Carney jokes to MTV News before tonight’s performance. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Black Keys Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The Black Keys will put “Gold on the Ceiling” when they take the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards tonight. So what should fans of the Ohio rockers expect when they storm the show? “Well, without spoiling it,” Dan Auerbach teased MTV News during rehearsals at the Gibson Amphitheatre in L.A. But, unfortunately for fans, MTV News had to censor his answer so we wouldn’t ruin the big surprise. In addition to performing, the guys will also get to chill out with some of the biggest stars on the planet, a concept Patrick Carney said really puts him at ease. “We feel really comfortable in these environments,” he joked. “You might not know this, but we were child stars.” While the performance should make some headlines, so will whichever lucky couple nabs the highly coveted Best Kiss prize. When asked if they would be voting for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s smooch in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” the guys didn’t yet know which make-out session deserved their vote. “I’m so worried about how we’re going to vote for Best Kiss,” Carney teased. To see what the guys weren’t allowed to tell you, you’ll have to tune in to the big show tonight, which will also feature performances from Fun. , Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa . ‘My show is evolving … so it’s going to be more themed,’ Wiz teases. Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. ET on MTV! By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Spielberg, if you’re watching on Sunday (June 3), you might want to keep an eye on Wiz Khalifa . The Taylor Gang captain is set to take the stage at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards where he’ll perform his new single “Work Hard, Play Hard” . And while Wiz will show off his musical talents, Hollywood may also get a glimpse of his acting chops. “My show is evolving and everything that I’m doing, so it’s going to be more themed,” Wiz told MTV News’ Sway Calloway after his rehearsal at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. “It’s for the Movie [Awards], so it’s going to be more theatrical. … People are going to see that side of it as well as me performing and giving my energy.” Khalifa has already done some on-camera work. Last, year he and Snoop Dogg shot their upcoming stoner comedy “Mac & Devin Go to High School.” It was Wiz’s first acting gig, but by the time the movie wrapped, the Pittsburgh MC could see his own progress.” I had to do makeup every day to cover my tattoos. I had to spray my hair to get the blond out, but it was cool. It was an experience, and it was really, really fun to be a novice at acting, be brand-new and then have to learn,” Khalifa told us last December. “I watched the movie, and I can actually see myself getting better in the movie.” For now, however, Wiz seems mostly focused on the music. On August 28, he’s scheduled to drop his sophomore album, O.N.I.F.C. (Only N—a in First Class), and fans will get to hear him perform the LP’s first single on Sunday night during the big show. Of course, tonight’s “theatrical” set should build anticipation for the upcoming album and, if it helps Wiz land a new acting gig or two, he’d welcome the opportunity. “That would be tight,” he said with his signature Khalifa cackle. ‘I hope he doesn’t say nothin’ smart about me, because he’s going to ‘unpredictably’ get his ass whooped,’ ‘Fighter’ star jokes to MTV News. By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Mark Wahlberg Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Mark Wahlberg has a message for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards host: Crack the wrong jokes, Russell Brand , and you’d better duck. Speaking to MTV News backstage at the taping of the Spike TV’s “Guys Choice Awards” on Saturday night, the man whose real-life boxing skills were on display in “The Fighter” acknowledged that the English comedian has a reputation for being unpredictable. “I hope he does a good job,” Wahlberg cautioned. “I hope he doesn’t say nothin’ smart about me, because he’s going to ‘unpredictably’ get his ass whooped.” Wahlberg wore a sly grin as he delivered his beat-down promise, detailing further what might happen should Brand say something too biting from the Gibson Amphitheatre stage tonight (June 3): “I would put the worst insult of all time on him, for sure. And it’s an easy thing to do, given his look.” The tongue-in-cheek rant was delivered to MTV News’ own Josh Horowitz, who has been comically menaced by Wahlberg on several occasions. The pair have continued their playful banter on red carpets and at events ever since that infamous episode of “The Knife Show,” which went viral. The 40-year-old actor/producer will be one of the presenters at the Movie Awards Sunday night, which will put him in close proximity to his possible target. “No, no, he’s a funny guy,” Wahlberg said, letting up for a second. Then the taunts resumed: “But, you know, listen: f— around, lay around — you know me.” An obscenities-laden rant that bobbed and weaved in and out of an English accent followed. “Listen, I love ya, baby, but this ain’t the mother—— to be f—ing with. This ain’t the U.K., baby. This is where you get the ole’ smack,” he said. After the last two Golden Globes awards shows, at least one other British comedian developed a certain reputation for “roast”-style performances while hosting. “I hope [Brand] is a proper U.K. comic like Ricky Gervais and Steve Coogan,” Wahlberg said, still mining his convincing British accent. Wahlberg, of course, was playing all of it for laughs, frequently cracking a smile, but he did issue a further warning to Brand: stay away from the cast of his upcoming movie, “Ted.” Mila Kunis, Seth McFarlane, and for some reason, the star of “Mad Men” (who isn’t in “Ted”) are off limits. “Listen, I’m telling you, if he f—s with me, I’m the wrong dude to f— with. And don’t f— with my people, either! Don’t say sh– about Mila, don’t say sh– about Seth. And don’t say sh– about Jon Hamm. I don’t know him, but, I’m putting him under my wing.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote for Best Hero and Best Movie now! Before Sunday’s Batman sneak peek, we list five of the all-time best. By Josh Wigler, with additional reporting by Jim Cantiello Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight Rises” Photo: Warner Bros. UNIVERSAL CITY, California — “The Dark Knight Rises” is still over a month away from hitting theaters, but you’ll get a brand-new look at the hotly awaited superhero flick this Sunday during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards . We’re presenting exclusive footage from the film during the show, though the specifics remain under wraps — exactly as the mysterious Batman would want it. “I was put in a room, the door was locked, I was handcuffed, I had a bag over my head, the bag was revealed, they pressed play on the DVD, and I’m sworn to secrecy — but I’m telling you, it’s good,” Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton told MTV News when we asked him about the “Dark Knight” footage. As we said: mysterious — but presumably awesome. Indeed, if Movie Awards history tells us anything, the “Dark Knight Rises” footage will be a beautiful sight to behold. Our annual awards show has a strong track record when it comes to rewarding viewers and attendees with cool, exclusive sneak peeks at the coming year’s hottest flicks. From sparkly skinned vampires to robots in disguise, here are five of the all-time best Movie Awards footage premieres: “Twilight” (2008) The first look that started a phenomenon. In 2008, we unveiled the first complete scene from “Twilight,” featuring superstars-in-the-making Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in their most iconic roles to date. It was an action-packed scene, too, ripped straight out of the climax of “Twilight” where Bella is being brutalized by bad vamp James — until a certain pale-skinned mega-hunk flies in to save the day. “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (2009) Eventual outcome aside, our excitement for “Revenge of the Fallen” ahead of the movie’s release was through the roof. And we were equally psyched to debut an exclusive clip from the second “Transformers” movie at the Movie Awards in 2009, showing Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky and Megan Fox’s Mikaela Banes fighting for their lives against a Decepticon spy. Just as exciting was our exclusive reveal of the Fallen himself. LaBeouf gave MTV News the exclusive first details about the monstrous villain that more than whetted our appetite for the film to come. “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (2010) Even if it wasn’t a box-office hit, “Scott Pilgrim” remains one of our favorite flicks from 2010 — and our excitement hit an all-time high when we got a first look at the film at the 2010 Movie Awards. The scene, presented by director Edgar Wright, centered on heroic loser Scott’s battle against the second (and most famous) of Ramona Flowers’ evil exes: Lucas Lee, the skater-boy celebrity played by eventual “Captain America” star Chris Evans. It was our first fully formed look at Wright’s frenetic vision, and the scene shown at the Movie Awards ended up being one of the highlights of the final film. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” (2011) Just as we were the first to bring the beginning of “Twilight” to the masses, so too were we there for the beginning of the end. The first trailer for the “Twilight” finale’s opening act — “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” — premiered at last year’s Movie Awards and was met with all the fanfare you’d expect. Twilighters oohed and ahhed over the first glimpses of Edward and Bella’s hotly awaited wedding, not to mention gratuitous shots of shirtless Jacob Black. The “Breaking Dawn” trailer was the talk of the Movie Awards that year. Though it had to share some of the spotlight with … “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” (2011) “The boy who lived … come to die.” The wicked Lord Voldemort’s cruel words sent shivers down fans’ spines when a brand-new clip from the “Harry Potter” finale premiered at last year’s Movie Awards. Easily one of the greatest footage reveals in the show’s history, if not the greatest, this look at “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” rocked the “Potter” community to the core for showing such a pivotal scene so far in advance of the film’s theatrical release. Harry’s walk through the Forbidden Forest to meet his maker at the hands of You Know Who stands out as one of the strongest scenes in “Potter” history, and we’re thrilled to have been able to supply fans worldwide with their very first look.
