Ho Sit Down: Glenn Beck Says Immigrants “Learned From The Klan…They Are Just Changing Their Hood”

Somebody please cancel Glenn’s show. He’s making our ears bleed. Glenn Beck Says Immigrants Learned From The Klan If immigrants learned from the Klan, then where did a racist azzhole like Glenn learn how to be such a loser? According to Raw Story Conservative radio host Glenn Beck told Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R) on Tuesday that immigrant activists have the “same ideology” as the Ku Klux Klan but they “are just changing their hood.” Over the weekend, about 300 activists traveled had traveled to Kobach’s home after holding a prayer vigil and and a town hall event to protest his efforts to crackdown on immigrants, including a role in an Arizona law which was eventually overturned by the United States Supreme Court. “I believe that this is the same exact tactics used by the Klan in the 1960s,” Beck declared on Tuesday. “And they’re doing it in the name of civil rights. But make no mistake, you are on the right side. You are the new civil rights movement.” “The civil rights movement did produce some laws that would stop you from doing these kinds of things,” he observed. “Have you thought about going and using the civil rights laws to stop this kind of harassment and intimidation at your own home?” “They’re called the Klan laws,” Kobach explained. “They’re a set of laws that say you cannot intimidate an official by trespassing his property or threatening violence, you cannot intimidate an individual by threatening violence so that they don’t vote or they don’t exercise their civil rights. And arguably both of those might apply here because they were trying to intimidate me as an elected official to change my point of view, and certainly they don’t like what I’ve been saying for years and doing for years to stop illegal immigration.” “You know, this is exactly — they’re just not wearing white cloaks, but this is exactly the KKK-type of intimidation,” he added. “These people have learned from the Klan,” Beck agreed. “The left is set up on revenge. And so they’re using the tactics of those who kept them down in the past, that we all tried to defeat — or at least all decent-minded Americans wanted to defeat and tried to defeat. And so they are just changing their hood and changing their language.” “But it is not changing who they really, truly are and what they are trying to do.” Earlier this week, Kobach insisted to Fox News that he was prepared to take advantage of his Second Amendment rights and use deadly force against “illegal aliens” rallying at his house if necessary. “Mob activity is always the same,” Beck remarked on Tuesday. “And it’s led by a few, and it’s led by people like Brown Shirts or the Klan or whatever you want to call it, hate groups. And they come and they march and they force you to salute and they force you to be silent.” Maybe someone should take Glenn and lynch, burn, and torture him then he could see that immigrants and the Klan are not the same thing.

Joe Jones Manifesto: Ex-LAPD Cop Says He Had Similar Experiences As Alleged Cop Killer Chris Dorner

A former LAPD officer has written a manifesto sympathizing with Christopher Dorner , the fugitive ex-LA cop who has declared “war” on the LAPD LAPD Cop Says He Had Similar Experiences As Cop Killer Chris Dorner “The 1st thing I would say to [Dorner] is, I feel your pains!,” Joe Jones wrote in his manifesto, circulated Tuesday by hacker group Anonymous and posted to Jones’ Facebook. “But you are going about this the wrong way. To take innocent lives could never be the answer to anything. I say this as a Man who experienced the same pain, betrayal, anger, suffering, litigation and agony that you did in many ways.” Jones, 48, was a patrol officer for nine years, retired in 1998 and now has an event-planning company in LA, the LA Weekly reports. It appears that Jones’ Facebook may have been disabled hours after posting his manifesto (see full manifesto below). He expressed his condolences for Dorner’s victims as well as victims of “the injustices of Police Corruption, Scandal, Lies, Deception and Brutality.” Jones said he himself has been a victim of such corruption. “I need you to first assume that I would not surface 16 years later with lies about a situation that has me with PTSD to this very day,” he wrote. “The pain forces me to speak as I have yet to shake the Ill’s of my experience as an LAPD Officer.” Jones’ accounts of being personally wronged by the LAPD include: 1) I had my home viciously attacked by a gunman with my family and myself inside the house. No arrests were made and my family and I Received very little support. 2) I had my Civil Rights violated on several occasions. I was falsely arrested at gunpoint by the Sheriffs as an Officer who ID’d himself and was conspired against by both LAPD and the Sheriffs when my Civil case went to Trial. 3) I was falsely accused on more than one occasion and simply placed in a position that the trust was so compromised that I could no longer wear the Uniform. Also know there were many more episodes. All of these issues are well documented The former cop drew eerie parallels with Dorner, saying that he looks like Dorner, saying that “like… Dorner I used to smile a lot,” and starting his manifesto off with the exact same intro as Dorner, ” I know most of you who personally who [sic] me are in disbelief…” Do you think more police officers will come out to support Dorner’s claims?? The Side-Eye: Frank Ocean Called The “Gay Rosa Parks” For Coming Out the Closet

Frank Ocean ’s coming out of the closet continues to be one of the most talked about subjects in music. And although many in the African American community are happy that Frank has decided to be honest about his sexual preference, many are outraged about the comments of one writer who has labeled Frank as the gay Rosa Parks and leader of music artists coming out of the closet. The writer claims: …Rosa Parks, who was down with the NAACP, was heralded as a heroine of the Civil Rights Movement for her unwillingness to give up her bus seat to a White man as she rested on her weary feet on that fate-filled day in a 1955 Alabama. But her move was a well-timed act as well, as it was a supremely strategic move. Enter Claudette Colvin. Before Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin. Colvin was a 15-year-old G from what I’ve gathered. She was a young, scrappy, and militant kid when she refused to give up her seat to a White person, a full nine months before her elder counterpart, Parks. Colvin was studying the injustices that were going on in 1955, analyzing the life of Black leaders and was ready for whatever was to come. In her 2009 book, Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice, she explained why Parks was selected. To NPR, she said, “Her skin texture was the kind that people associate with the middle class. She fit that profile.” Parks was also the secretary for the NAACP and had the backing of the local chapter to start the boycott that would cripple the racist busing system. So, Frank Ocean is the Gay Hip-Hop Movement’s Rosa Parks, whether dissonant voices admit it or not. Rosa Parks wasn’t the first to get arrested for not giving up her seat. But, she was the first, some say, to fit an ideal that matched the delicate needs of the Dr. Martin Luther King-led push for equal rights. And, like Parks, Ocean is relatively safe, whereas Colvin was a militant that eventually relocated to Harlem in the midst of a cultural revolution living among the likes of Malcolm X We’re not too sure about this comparison. Why does Frank even have to be the “gay Rosa Parks?” Can’t he just be black man, who’s gay who just got tired of lying about who he was to other people? Do you think Frank’s decision to come out the closet lends itself to the Civil Rights Movement? Source

Taylor Swift’s ‘Safe & Sound’ Video Matches Song’s Eerie Vibe

Clip for ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack song also takes cues from book series’ life-and-death themes. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Taylor Swift in her “Safe & Sound” video Photo: Big Machine Taylor Swift managed to capture the mood of her “Hunger Games” soundtrack tune “Safe & Sound” in the video, which premiered Monday (February 13) during ” MTV First: Taylor Swift .” Co-starring the Civil Wars , the video’s chilliness encapsulates the sadness of the song, the lead single from the “Games” soundtrack . The moody, emotional clip features Swift, walking barefoot through the woods, her hair and makeup noticeably undone, wearing a long, white gown. As she makes her way through the cloudy, damp forest, there’s destruction around her, as parts of the wooded area burn behind her (clearly an homage to the upcoming movie). In between scenes of her meandering through the woods, singing the T-Bone Burnett-produced track , are shots of the Civil Wars, hanging out in a dark cabin, lit only by the fireplace, as they accompany Swift. As the song crescendos, Swift reaches the cabin, which has been abandoned, and finds the now-famous Mockingjay pin. As the video closes, a glimpse of the sun shines down on Swift as she continues her pilgrimage. The video’s simple concept punctuates the quiet beauty of the sullen track, about the pains of life and love — certainly themes relevant to “The Hunger Games.” In fact, the video location is as dreary as the song’s mood: It was shot at a cemetery. “It’s one of my favorite moments in the video; there’s this wide shot, where I’m just kind of crumpled up sitting on a gravestone, and it’s actually the gravesite of a couple who lived and died in 1853,” she recalled. “I’m sitting here thinking, ‘What were their lives like?’ It’s really eerie, considering what the movie is about and how it deals with life and death. It just absolutely blew my mind.” During “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” Swift sat down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway and opened up about the video and what it means to have the lead single from the “Hunger Games” soundtrack, which drops March 20, days before the highly anticipated movie opens on March 23. The film adaptation stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. During the chat, Swift gushed about working with director Philip Andelman, despite the uncomfortable shooting conditions. “It was so cold. It was freezing. I was shaking the whole time and trying not to be shaking when the cameras were rolling. It was about 40 degrees in Nashville. It had just rained,” she said of the shoot, which also included a lot of barefoot walking in the mud. “I’m wearing this 1920s vintage nightgown that didn’t provide much warmth. I didn’t get sick. I thought I was going to get sick. That was the upside.” What did you think of Taylor’s ” Safe & Sound ” video? Let us know in the comments below! Grammys 2012: Who Are The Civil Wars?

The country duo took home two Grammys on Sunday and will be featured on the ‘Hunger Games’ track ‘Safe & Sound.’ By Terri Schwartz Civil Wars perform at the 2012 Grammy Awards Photo: Getty Images If you’re a fan of “The Hunger Games” or Taylor Swift , you’ve likely already heard of the country music group the Civil Wars . This year’s Grammy winners for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Folk Album collaborated with Swift on the first “Hunger Games” single, “Safe & Sound.” The duo acted as the opening act for Swift as they performed their hit “Barton Hollow.” So who exactly are the Civil Wars? Even though they’re making their mainstream breakout now, the band actually came out of Nashville in 2008. Members Joy Williams and John Paul White reportedly met during a “professional blind date” songwriting session at a music studio that year and immediately hit it off. Before releasing an album or EP, the Civil Wars recorded their performance at Georgia’s music club Eddie’s Attic in 2009 — their second time performing together live — and made it available for free download on the Internet. The set included eight original songs and a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Dance Me to the End of Love.” Video: Watch Highlights From The 2012 Grammy Awards But it wasn’t until later that year that the band started to surface in the public awareness. In November 2009, White and Williams released a digital extended play album called “Poison & Wine.” The title track was featured on “Grey’s Anatomy,” the ABC medical drama that helped further the careers of other folksy artists like Ingrid Michaelson and The Fray. It was then that they caught the attention of Swift. According to the Civil Wars’ website , Swift tweeted her love of the country duo and included “Poison & Wine” on her official iTunes playlist. “I think this is my favorite duet. It’s exquisite,” she said of the song. Fast forward to 2011. The Civil Wars released their first studio album, Barton Hollow, in February, and it reached #12 on the Billboard albums 2011 chart. It certainly helped that the band was also the opening act for Adele’s 2011 North American tour. Later in the year, Williams and White rejoined the Grammy winner on her UK tour and were introduced to the British music scene. The duo — who are only a couple professionally — have a lot to thank Swift for, especially for their collaboration on “Safe & Sound.” Swift will be participating in an MTV First on Monday at 7:54 p.m., when she will debut the music video for the song, and also participate in an exclusive chat with MTV News. Fans can submit their questions for Swift via Twitter @MTVNews with the hashtags #AskTaylor or #MTVFirst. “It was [perfect], strangely enough,” Williams told MTV News of collaborating with Swift and composer T-Bone Burnett. “John Paul and I write all of our own music, so it’s not as common anymore for us to be collaborating with other people. But, T-Bone and Taylor Swift: It was just natural.” The “Hunger Games” soundtrack, which also features Arcade Fire and the Decemberists, drops March 20. The movie hits theaters days later, on March 23.
