Rihanna Channels Slash In ‘Rockstar 101’ Video

Travis Barker appears in latest clip from Rihanna’s Rated R LP. By Jayson Rodriguez Rihanna in her “Rockstar 101” video Photo: Def Jam Burning flames? Smashed guitars? Slash? Well, it’s not quite a Guns N’ Roses video, but Rihanna premiered her “Rockstar 101” clip Tuesday (May 25) in full-on rocker fashion, donning a top hat, shades, and holding an axe to complete her makeover into the legendary guitarist. The video is a mix of goth bondage-esque voyeurism, complete with Rihanna’s gyrating moves and a raging band that features Travis Barker on the drums. “Strut up in the club, posted in the back, feeling so good, looking so bad,” Rihanna sings. “Rocking this skirt, rocking this club, got my middle finger up, I don’t really give a f—.” “Rockstar 101,” featuring Slash, is the fourth single from Rihanna’s recent Rated R LP, following “Russian Roulette,” “Hard” and “Rude Boy.” The song was written and produced by The-Dream and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart; the pair also oversaw “Hard,” which broke into the top 10 of Billboard ‘s Hot 100 singles chart. Although Slash is featured on the track as a performer, the GNR member doesn’t quite appear in the video — at least, not in the flesh. But Rihanna pays homage to him toward the end of the clip, comically sporting a skull-laden top hat, leather jacket, dark glasses and toothpick. Rihanna projects Slash’s swagger and plays the guitar in a way that would make most blush. Rihanna straddles the instrument in one shot and later suggestively points it up from her crotch, a la Prince. Last month, Rihanna performed “Rockstar 101” on “American Idol,” and in March Travis Barker raved about her burgeoning drumming and guitar skills. “She jams! Watch out for her,” Barker later tweeted. Casey James Will Have A ‘Big Career’ After ‘American Idol,’ Pal Says

But Danny Ross hasn’t written off James’ finale chances yet: ‘You can’t underestimate the women of America.’ By Gil Kaufman Casey James Photo: FOX It’s a bit late in the season for the usual conspiracy theories to arise, but there’s something about the way the “American Idol” finale is shaping up that has given Casey James’ supporters pause. “I don’t know, I think there’s something prejudicial going on, where it just seems like they’re stacking the deck against him,” said Danny Ross, owner of the Fort Worth blues club Keys Lounge, where the top-three “Idol” finisher has jammed on and off for the past two years. On Wednesday afternoon (May 19), Ross said he thought James did well on Tuesday night’s show , but he just couldn’t shake the feeling that the show’s producers were trying to steer America toward a Lee DeWyze/ Crystal Bowersox showdown . “The John Mayer song [‘Daughters’] was not as dynamic as [Bowersox’s] ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ or [DeWyze’s] ‘Hallelujah,’ but, gosh, I’ve played with Casey, and I know talent when I see it, and Casey is one of the only guys I sit in with at the club,” he said. “I didn’t see any signs for Casey in the audience and not many for Crystal but a lot for Lee. Casey came in here last week and did a set like nothing had changed, and I had people say that if he played like that on TV, it wouldn’t be any competition.” Ross has been in the business a long time and considers himself a good judge of talent, and he said he thinks DeWyze is a good singer and Bowersox has “a hell of a voice,” but neither can front a band the way James can or rip off the kinds of bluesy guitar solos he’s seen Casey play in his club. So while he sees an uphill climb for his prot

Sammi Giancola, Jersey Shore Getting Sued (Again)

The fist-pumping Jersey Shore cast members are under fire again for putting said fists where they don’t belong. Two South Florida attorneys are filing assault charges – not against one of the dudes, but against Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola. No wonder MTV is replacing the cast. The 22-year-old star reportedly got into a fight while at Club Dream on South Beach on May 8. Kristin DeMinco was the woman on the receiving end. DeMinco’s attorneys say she was assaulted and punched twice in the face by Giancola while in the club. “She saw me talking to him,” Deminco said. “Asked why I was talking to her boyfriend. She was jealous I guess that I was talking to him. I was like, you can calm down … we are just talking.” She cleans up nice, but Sammi’s got a temper! Look, you don’t want to even be accused of hitting on Ronnie Magro . “I wasn’t trying to hit on him,” she maintains. “She exchanged bad words at me. I exchanged some bad words back. She hit me twice in the face.” Then the Guidos/ettes who gained reality TV fame in Seaside Heights, N.J., supposedly took part in another fight, getting ’em kicked out of the club. They lawsuit is the latest in what has become a trend of Jersey Shore cast members getting into physical altercations for increased television ratings. Just last week, a New Jersey judge agreed to hear a lawsuit claiming Jersey Shore producers encouraged cast members to provoke fights for publicity. Detestable and possibly criminal? Sure. But entertaining stuff. Season Two premieres July 29! Let the fights and Jersey Shore quotes commence!

Young Jeezy Reveals His Paranoia In ‘Lose My Mind’ Video

In new clip, featuring Plies, Jeezy parties hard while thinking about more dangerous times. By Jayson Rodriguez Young Jeezy in his “Lose My Mind” video Young Jeezy delivered the unofficial anthem for Barack Obama’s election with his last album, The Recession, and the Atlanta MC is back in the streets with his forthcoming effort Thug Motivation 103. The video for the album’s first single “Lose My Mind” featuring Plies premiered on MTV 2 on Monday (April 26), and from the onset, Jeezy takes it back to his trap days. “I got a lot going on,” he begins in a voiceover, as he’s seen chatting with his USDA cohort Boo Rossini. “Rap stuff, street stuff, it’s all the same things. Pressure bust pipes, holes sink ships.” From there, Jeezy ventures to the club, where he boasts about the riches fame has afforded him. In a stark, black-and-white visual, director Taj captures the Def Jam superstar in his glory. But as images flash of girls, bottles and hangers-on enjoying the celebrations, the clip catches Jeezy battling the paranoia he still experiences from his former occupation. “Like I was saying, I just feel different,” he says, midway through the clip, picking up the conversation where the video’s intro leaves off. A solitary Jeezy is then shown walking to a men’s room, rubbing his eyes and distancing himself from the festivities. He ambles into a stall and turns around to see a figure rising from a covered gurney. The hallucination ends with Jeezy in a leather straitjacket, reflecting the song’s lyrics: “I’m hearing voices in my head/ Think I’m schizophrenic,” he raps. “I swear they sayin’ ‘Let’s Get It’/ From another planet.” “To me, it’s my life,” Jeezy told MTV News last month about the track. “That’s how I feel sometimes when I go out. If you listen to me, I said it a few times: ‘Lost my mind and my cell phone in the same night.’ No two days are the same. … I been partying my whole life. That’s how you feel the next day. You killed them, and you left. You was looking good, shining good, there’s no limit to what you can have in the club. That’s how it’s been for us before music. ” ‘Lose My Mind’ is doing what the hell I wanna do in the club. If it’s 100 bottles of ros
