For the first time since private photos of her hit the Net, Johansson tells CNN, ‘It just feels wrong.’ By James Montgomery Scarlett Johansson Photo: Vittorio Zunino Celotto/ Getty Images Scarlett Johansson has broken her silence about the nude photos of her that hit several websites earlier this month, saying that she feels like a target because of her fame. In an interview with CNN , the actress insisted that celebrities are no different than anyone else when it comes to the right of privacy, but added that, more often than not — as the scandal surrounding her photos proves — that just isn’t the case. “Just because you’re an actor or make films or whatever doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to your own personal privacy,” she said. “If that is sieged in some way, it feels unjust. It feels wrong.” The actress was interviewed in Nairobi, Kenya, where she was traveling to see firsthand the effect drought and famine have had in the area. In the hours after photos of the actress first hit the Net, Johansson’s lawyer sent cease-and-desist orders to websites that ran the pics, alleging they were hacked from her phone and therefore represented “stolen copyright-protected private photographs.” The lawyer’s statement continued, “The highly personal and private photographs at issue capture our client self-posing in her own home in a state of undress and/or topless. If you fail to comply, you will be acting at your own peril. Please govern yourselves accordingly.” Johansson reportedly also was working with the FBI to investigate who hacked her phone and leaked her photos. Fox News reported that the actress was actually interviewed by the FBI months ago in connection with an investigation into a hacking ring that also hit several other “high-profile individuals.” And to that end, Johansson told CNN that, though she struggles with life in the spotlight, she’s determined to maintain her privacy. “It’s an adjustment, but I think there are certain instances where you give a lot of yourself and finally you have to kind of put your foot down and say ‘Oh wait, I’m taking it back,’ ” she said .

Troy Davis was executed late Wednesday night for the 1989 murder of off-duty Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail. Davis died at 11:08 p.m., according to CNN. The execution was about four hours later than initially scheduled, because prison officials waited for a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Davis’ request for a stay. After 10 p.m. ET, the Supreme Court, in a brief order, rejected Davis’ request. As we previously reported, Davis’ case had attracted international attention from groups like the NAACP and Amnesty International because seven of the nine witnesses against him have recanted or contradicted their testimony. Calls for Davis to be spared execution have been made by numerous dignitaries, including former President Jimmy Carter, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Pope Benedict XVI, former FBI Director William Sessions, former Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Norman Fletcher and Larry Thompson, the former deputy U.S. attorney general. Tyler Perry can’t seem to catch a break these days. First Mario Van Peebles took a sideways shot at him (and other Black men wearing dresses in films) at this year’s Urbanworld Film festival and now author Touré has gone for his pearl necklace-adorned jugular. Touré debated the merits of Perry’s films with Newsone contributor Dr. Boyce Watkins, who argued that the “Madea” franchise has helped put people to work. Troy Davis’ case has been one of the top trending topics throughout social media. It’s gained international attention, with renowned people in support of Davis such as Pope Benedict XVI, Desmond Tutu, and former President Jimmy Carter, entertainers such as Susan Sarandon, Harry Belafonte, NAACP, and more. “Two decades ago, a jury convicted Davis on two counts of aggravated assault and one each of possessing a firearm during a crime, obstructing a law enforcement officer and murder. The latter charge led, soon thereafter, to his death sentence. Mr. Davis is set to be executed for murdering a Savannah police officer in 1989. And regardless of the 663,000 signatures and rallies in support to free Mr. Davis, the parole board denied him clemency and he’s set to be put to death tomorrow (September 21, 2011) at 7pm by lethal injection at at a state prison in Jackson, Georgia.. This such a sad case because there’s not sufficient evidence to say that he committed the crime and witness have recanted their statements several times. Tyler Hadley, the Florida teen who allegedly bludgeoned his parents to death, then partied with their dead bodies upstairs , has been indicted for murder. He is now charged with first-degree murder, twice over. The grand jury indictment upgrades what were originally two counts of second-degree murder with a weapon in the deaths of Blake and Mary Jo Hadley. No motive in the Hadley case has been reported. Acting on an anonymous tip, on Sunday morning July 17 officers visited the Hadley home, where a “nervous” Tyler told them his parents were out of town. According to CNN , the grand jury heard testimony from Hadley’s uncle, the lead detective in the case, a medical examiner and a crime scene investigator. If convicted, Hadley faces a mandatory life sentence. Though he was charged as an adult, his age prevents prosecutors from seeking the death penalty.
According to her husband, Michaele Salahi was abducted yesterday morning. We’ll report this story as seriously as we can, simply mentioning up front that these people have crashed a White House party, gotten thrown out of Celebrity Rehab and reportedly screwed a charity out of money. Tareq tells TMZ that he last saw his wife at 11 a.m. EST on Tuesday, when she left for a hair appointment. But she never showed up at the salon, and then called Tareq late last night from a Oregon phone number to say she was headed to her mom’s house. But Michaele’s mother told her son-in-law that she never spoke to her daughter and had not seen her all day. Tareq’s theory? His wife made that call against her will. He therefore dialed the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and asked for assistance. However, the police said they had already heard from Michaele, she assured them everything was fine and “family issues” were to blame for the confusion. With authorities offering little help, Tareq has issued a statement on the matter. It reads: “We are reaching to the public pleaing [sic] desperately for your help. “It is our belief as of last night, that Michaele Salahi may have been kidnapped or abducted and being held under duress and forced to tell persons, including authorities she is okay. We are asking the public to please be on the look out for her, and if found please contact the authorities and please approach her and contact the authorities to intervene and that she may be forced to say she is okay, when in fact she is not and being held under possible abduction. Mitch Winehouse believes his daughter died during alcohol detoxification. By Gil Kaufman Amy Winehouse Photo: Marc Broussely/ Redferns The results of an official inquest are still pending, but Amy Winehouse ‘s father, Mitch, revealed to Anderson Cooper that he believes his daughter died while trying to detox from alcohol. In an interview slated to run on Monday on the CNN anchor’s new syndicated daytime talk show, “Anderson,” Mitch Winehouse said Amy, who died on July 23 at age 27 of as-yet- undetermined causes , approached getting clean like she did everything else in life: with gusto. “Everything Amy did, she did to excess,” budding lounge singer Mitch told Cooper. “She drank to excess and did detox to excess.” Winehouse explained that he believes Amy died as a result of a seizure caused by alcohol detox . He also revealed that while an initial autopsy showed no sign of illegal drugs in the “Rehab” singer’s system at the time of her death, there were traces of the prescription drug Librium, which is commonly used to relieve anxiety and control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal, according to The Associated Press . Winehouse had fought against drug and alcohol addiction for years, and Mitch said that when she suffered her fatal seizure, there was “nobody there to rescue her.” The singer’s family also said that toxicology tests indicate that there was alcohol in her bloodstream, but that it was unclear if it contributed to her death. One of Mitch Winehouse’s regrets, he told Cooper, is that Amy was trying to kick her alcohol addiction without the help of a doctor. He said she suffered from seizures and would lose consciousness in the time before her death and that “the periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter,” he said. “It was headed in the right direction.” Though Mitch was merely speculating on what killed the singer, the full details may be revealed soon, as the inquest is slated to begin next month. Amy’s boyfriend at the time of her death, Reg Traviss, said they spent a quiet evening at home looking at pictures and watching DVDs two days before she passed and that they were making plans to attend a friend’s wedding a few days later. He told Cooper he struggled to find the right time to speak to Amy about her drinking without coming off as a nag. “She was a really clever girl,” he said. “She knew what she was doing.
