Drake Recruits Stevie Wonder For Take Care

‘We actually are writing together, which is an incredible experience,’ Drake says of collaboration. By Rob Markman Drake Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images Drake has some pretty cool friends. During this weekend’s OVO Music Festival in Toronto, Canada, the Young Money spitter brought Lil Wayne , Nas, J. Cole, Rick Ross, The Weeknd and 22-time Grammy winner Stevie Wonder to rock in his hometown. After the show, Drizzy Drake confirmed to MuchMusic that Wonder will be appearing on his upcoming Take Care album. The news came on the same day that the rapper released the LP’s first official single “Headlines.” “He helped me out with a lot of the music, just came and sat with me, listened to my music, told me where I could add a couple things to make it more sonically appealing, and not only that but we actually are writing together, which is an incredible experience,” Drake said of his collaborations with the Songs in the Key of Life singer. In the interview, Drake described Wonder as a “very close friend” who has embraced him early in his career. And the elder singer was more than happy to join Drake onstage in Toronto. “So I hit him, asked him to come by, and with no hesitation he hit me back like, ‘I will be there.’ Not only that, but he was supposed to do two songs and he did like six,” Drake told the Canadian television network. “It was incredible.” While fans await Take Care ‘s October 24 release date, Drake has been releasing possible album cuts through his October’s Very Own site. First was the lyrical stream of consciousness “Dreams Money Can Buy,” which he dropped in May. Then there was “Marvins Room” a month later , which, like “Dreams,” the rapper described as a piece of his “story.” On “Trust Issues,” a track the YM soldier released on his blog in June, the rapper interpolated portions of his chorus on DJ Khaled’s “I’m on One.” While both “Marvins Room” and “Trust Issues” find Drake singing for much of the time, on the Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib-produced “Headlines,” Drake spews out rap bars over a synthy affair. He starts off, “I might be too strung out on compliments, overdosed on confidence/ Started not to give a f—, and stopped fearing the consequence,” and then gets super-cocky when he drops, “Soap opera rappers, all these n—-s sound like ‘All My Children’/ And that’s who you thinkin’ is ’bout to come and make a killin’?/ I guess it really is just me, myself and all my millions.” As to when Drake will release any of his Stevie Wonder collaborations before the album’s October release date however remains to be seen. Chris Brown Recalls Making Justin Bieber ‘Kind Of Mad’

F.A.M.E. singer was late to their ‘Next 2 You’ recording session. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Rebecca Thomas Chris Brown Photo: MTV News Aside from his latest controversy , Chris Brown is back with F.A.M.E. , which stands for “Forgiving All My Enemies” and “Fans Are My Everything.” On the new album, Brown has some choice features from stars such as Lil Wayne, Tyga, Ludacris and Justin Bieber. “Working with Wayne is always incredible,” said Brown, whose “Beautiful People” video premiered Tuesday on MTV’s “The Seven.” “I’ve had Wayne on every single album I’ve done. … Being able to work with these guys is incredible. I build most of my collaborations off of just the relationships that I’ve built with these guys over the years and then new relationships, like Justin Bieber.” Brown told MTV News that it was awesome getting Bieber on board for “Next 2 You.” Brown became interested in featuring the teen star on his album after the duo worked on the remix to Bieber’s track “Up,” which was featured on Never Say Never – The Remixes . “Being able to collab with [Bieber] was great,” Brown said. “He’s a young, energetic cat, so being able to work with him, with the fanbase he has, was incredible. I know a lot of little girls are going to love this record. “I wouldn’t say [he’s] my prot

Drake’s ‘Miss Me’ Video Shoot Complicated By Lil Wayne’s Absence

‘It wasn’t shot the way I would have shot it,’ Anthony Mandler says of Lil Wayne footage shot before he came onboard as director. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Audrey Kim Lil Wayne and Drake Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Drake’s “Miss Me” video is the third project between the rapper and director Anthony Mandler (Jay-Z, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige), following their work together on the Toronto star’s “Over” and “Find Your Love.” According to Mandler, he and Drake are establishing an aesthetic via their collaborations. Mandler said that “Over” was about reestablishing Drake visually and “Find Your Love” was intended to make Drake the lead in an anti-love story. With “Miss Me,” however, the director said the video was a particular challenge because co-star Lil Wayne’s footage was shot prior to Mandler coming onboard. “It wasn’t shot the way I would have shot it,” Mandler explained to MTV News. “So I had to come up with a world where I had ultimate control. I think with Drake, we’re always looking for overarching themes. We’re always looking for bigger themes to hang our hat on. With ‘Miss Me,’ what was interesting to me was not the idea of ‘miss me because Wayne was gong to jail.’ Because it was deeper than that. It was the attainability verses the unattainability. And how stars and people who are public figures are expected to sit on a platform and be grabbed and watched and photographed and controlled. “The idea for me was, what happens if it’s not that clear,” he added. The director said he incorporated a set where everything was slightly off. The set was built with a converging ceiling, in order to appear smaller. The lead actress in the video was never fully shown. The Young Money star appears but then quickly disappears. “Everything is a click off,” Mandler explained. “All these unrelated scenarios are related by a textual theme and trying to play that into that, rather than some straight narrative, because we didn’t have control … ’cause we didn’t have Wayne,” he said. Will Ferrell Weighs In On Sandra And Scarlett’s MTV Movie Awards Kiss

‘The Other Guys’ star says the smooch between ‘Sandra and Charlotte’ was one of the high points of the night. By Todd Gilchrist, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Scarlett Johannson and Sandra Bullock at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards Photo: MTV When he could remember the names of the actresses involved, actor Will Ferrell told MTV News that he thought that the surprise kiss between Generation Award recipient Sandra Bullock and presenter Scarlett Johansson was one of the evening’s high points. When asked what he enjoyed seeing the most during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, he said, “I can say Sandra Bullock and Charlotte,” meaning Scarlett Johansson. Unflappable even in the face of the gaffe, Ferrell nodded and corrected himself. “Scarlett Johansson. She goes by Charlotte, though — she usually drops the ‘S.’ ” After being presented with her Generation Award, recipient Sandra Bullock shared an unexpected lip-lock with Scarlett Johansson during her acceptance speech. Truth be told, their smooch actually legitimized Johansson’s spot on the stage alongside fellow presenters Bradley Cooper and Betty White — after declining to say anything during the Generation presentation, Johansson finally admitted she was there in place of “The Proposal” star Ryan Reynolds, who was nominated alongside Bullock for Best Kiss, and she and Bullock initiated an impromptu make-out session in response to, well, losing the award. Even without the kiss, the presentation of Bullock’s Generation Award was unquestionably one of the highlights of the show. As Johansson deferred to her co-presenters, Cooper provided a litany of weird nicknames for his “All About Steve” co-star, and then stepped aside as White recounted many of the movies in Bullock’s storied career, albeit wildly inaccurately. Bullock’s gracious and funny acceptance speech paid homage to her collaborations with Cooper and White, made light of her recent personal woes and then she petitioned attendees and viewers to go back to making fun of her. During his own appearance, however, Ferrell and his “The Other Guys” co-star Mark Wahlberg hung above the Movie Awards stage in a suitably awkward recreation of the film’s advertising campaign while their fellow castmembers Eva Mendez, Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson presented the award for Best Villain. Wahlberg was outraged when Tom Fenton, Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy, thanked an extensive list of supporters, friends and family. Ferrell, meanwhile, offered a few unsolicited comments about the growing pain in his groin from the harness that held him in the air. Chris Brown & Naomi Campbell: Together For Haiti

Haiti relief efforts will not cease … nor should they. Naomi Campbell was the latest to pitch in, throwing a Fashion for Relief runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Among the attendees? Chris Brown. So many violent thoughts together in one place. At least it was for a good cause this time. Earthquake relief tops thrown phones and pummeled ex-girlfriends. Helena Christensen, Selita Ebanks, Agyness Deyn, Kelly Osbourne, Malin Ackerman and others did their thing on the catwalk, sure. But Chris Brown in a tux? That really got the audience going. Chris Brown, Naomi Campbell and others united for Haiti . “[Events like this] are definitely important, not necessarily for me,” Brown told E! News . “It’s important for Haiti because you get a chance to see artists and entertainers and fashion icons come together to do something nice for a good cause.” “It’s very humbling being able to come and help, it’s nice to see.” Nothing you can say negatively about that classy attitude, or the collaborations by so many celebrities to help this case, such as the We Are the World remake . Rachel Zoe pulled together the 92 looks for the fashion show, including the moving finale tribute to Alexander McQueen that had the models holding back tears.
