Teen Who Sued Parents For College Tuition Drops Lawsuit The 18-year-old New Jersey girl who sued her parents for college tuition after moving out of her home days before her birthday has now returned home and dropped the lawsuit. via USA Today A high school senior who gained international notoriety by suing her parents for child support and college tuition formally dismissed her lawsuit Tuesday. Rachel Canning, 18, of Lincoln Park, N.J., moved out of her parents’ home two days before her 18th birthday in November but returned last week. Canning — accompanied by her lawyer, Tanya N. Helfand; her parents, Sean and Elizabeth Canning; and their lawyer, Angelo Sarno — appeared early Tuesday before Judge Peter A. Bogaard of state Superior Court here. The judge accepted brief testimony from Rachel Canning on her decision to dismiss the complaint and found that she was making “a knowing and voluntary decision,” according to a copy of the dismissal order. She sued her parents Feb. 24, claiming they had cut off emotional and financial support when she turned 18 on Nov. 1. Her parents counter-claimed that their daughter had become increasingly belligerent, refused to follow household rules, was drinking and would not break up with a boyfriend they considered a bad influence. After the Cannings ceased paying for the final half of Rachel Canning’s senior year at Morris Catholic and appeared unwilling to pay upcoming college costs, she filed a suit for “constructive abandonment.” Rachel Canning unexpectedly returned home March 11, and her parents lawyer, Angelo Sarno, said the family wanted to move on. Sounds like somebody learned her lesson the hard way. Just what she needed if you ask us!
I don’t know if you’ve been following the viral story of the anonymous Duke University girl who got exposed as a pornstar, even though she’s really only done 10 or less scenes, meaning 10k or less in the industry, which is hardly being a pornstar, but rather someone who could afford a designer purse, or maybe a not so luxury vacation with a friend backpacking Europe… SEE HER INTERVIEW HERE But she’s been targeted, exposed and forced to justify herself because she’s getting an education while doing, which in case you didn’t realize is mutually exclusive…having sex on camera, and having a brain or an education are totally unrelated…Neither one has to do with the other… So she’s out there, explaining herself, defending herself, justifying herself, about porn being good to women, or a feminist movement, which I don’t really agree with..even though girls making the conscious choice to get into porn is really an empowering experience…it’s her vagina, if she wants to get paid to stick things inside it on camera, she has the freedom to do it…plus girls get paid better than the dudes in porn, and they call the shots about what happens to themselves…and they get a certain level of celebrity as dudes everywhere jerk off to them sucking dick… Now I don’t watch porn, because it sucks and is badly produced, so I don’t care about intellectualizing porn, Sasha Grey tried to justify her throat fucking, and that annoyed me… It’s a pretty fucking basic concept and execution…but I would never say a girl in porn is any different than any other girl getting fucked by dudes in college…because this is the internet era, porn is mainstream, our lives are exposed, if anything they are just a bit better at making money than the girl working at subway, because ultimately, fucking on camera can’t ruin your life in this generation, so we should all just let each other watch us fuck… I think we should get all college girls to do porn as a part time job, and I have no problem hiring them for the summer…I’m not even joking.. Sex is accessible, more accessible than it ever was….that only tragedy in all this is that porn chicks only make 50k a year and have to prostitute on the side to make ends meet…meaning they don’t do it for the money…they do it for the exposure. Either way, college girls out there…do more porn…and send it my way…and haters, stop hating…let these smart girls do porn for whatever reason they want to do porn…if it’s an intellectual experience, or if they don’t have a dad…or if it is just a joke…who cares…or maybe, just maybe she’s doing it to piss off her parents who refused to pay for her college…you know like the ultimate fuck you…since she’s made no money doing it…there’s more to the story than the feminist spin… Either way, now her rate per scene has just tripled… If you want to book her for your kids birthday party CLICK HERE
Kanye West is in the clear after the L.A. District Attorney declined to prosecute or pursue charges against the rapper following an alleged assault incident. This outcome became increasingly likely after Kanye’s most recent alleged assault victim failed to appear at a follow-up interview with the authorities. If investigators don’t have a cooperative accuser, the case is difficult to prosecute for obvious reasons, and that’s apparently what transpired here. West reportedly settled with the accuser out of court as well. Kanye West Assaults 18-Year Old Loser Cops responded to a 911 call last month after the volatile rapper confronted a teenager who was reportedly screaming racial slurs at Kim Kardashian . Kim and Kanye were meeting for an appointment when she saw a man yelling racial slurs at the paparazzi and told him he shouldn’t use racial slurs. That’s when he turned on the reality star and began verbally assaulting her, and Kanye allegedly returned the favor and then some … vintage ‘Ye. “The two ended up in a stairwell where the man was in her face and continued to verbally assault her,” an insider added. “She was genuinely scared.” Kanye, who was already present at the building, overheard the teen yelling at his fiance, so he “came running down and he confronted the guy.” As Kanye confrontations go, it sounds like this incident was one of the more understandable … at least by the loose cannon rapper’s standards. 8 Best Kanye West Rants Open Slideshow 1. Growing up in England, Middleton was always a natural beauty, albeit a little less polished than the refined 32-year-old who we are familiar with today. Sad news for lovers of the Black Arts movement. Amiri Baraka has passed away . Via L.A. Times reports : Amiri Baraka died Thursday after weeks of failing health, a family spokeperson confirmed. He was 79. A playwright, poet, critic and activist, Baraka was one of the most prominent and controversial African American voices in the world of American letters. He was born Everett LeRoi Jones on Oct. 7, 1934, in Newark, N.J. A gifted student, he graduated from high school two years early and went to college at New York University and Howard University. After serving in the Air Force for more than two years, Baraka — then Jones — was dishonorably discharged for reading communist texts. He then moved to New York, attending graduate school at Columbia University and becoming involved in the Beat scene. In 1958, he founded the avant-garde poetry magazine Yugen, which he co-edited with Hettie Cohen — the two were married from 1960 to 1965. At that time he also co-edited a literary newsletter, The Floating Bear, published “Blues People: The Negro Experience in White America and the Music That Developed from It” (1963) and penned the play “Dutchman,” which explosively explored issues of race and gender. “I can see now that the dramatic form began to interest me because I wanted to go ‘beyond’ poetry. I wanted some kind of action literature,” Baraka wrote in his 1984 autobiography. “Dutchman” won the 1964 Obie Award for best American play. After the 1965 assassination of Malcolm X, Jones changed his name to Imamu Amiri Baraka, moved to Harlem and married his second wife, Amina (formerly Sylvia Robinson). Inspired in part by a 1960 trip to Cuba and in part by the radical wing of the civil rights movement, he espoused separatist ideas and founded the Black Arts Repertory Theatre and School. Baraka led the Black Arts Movement, an aesthetic sibling to the Black Panthers. Although the movement was fractious and short-lived, it involved significant authors such as Gwendolyn Brooks, Eldridge Cleaver, Gil-Scott Heron, Nikki Giovanni, Ishmael Reed and Quincy Troupe. “[W]e wrote art that was, number one, identifiably Afro American according to our roots and our history and so forth. Secondly, we made art that was not contained in small venues,” Baraka said in a 2007 interview. “The third thing we wanted was art that would help with the liberation of black people, and we didn’t think just writing a poem was sufficient. That poem had to have some kind of utilitarian use; it should help in liberating us. So that’s what we did. We consciously did that.” In Harlem, Baraka sent trucks into the community carrying people — including the artist Sun Ra — performing poetry, dance and music. Baraka’s work during the 1960s included the plays “The Black Mass,” “The Toilet,” and “The Slave”; the poetry collections “Black Art” and “Black Magic”; and the provocative collection “Home: Social Essays.” In the late 1960s and into the 1970s, Baraka became deeply involved in a number of organizations working to promote and consolidate African American political power. In 1980, he began teaching at the State University of New York-Stony Brook, retiring from its African Studies department in 1994. During his long academic career, he taught at Rutgers University, George Washington University, Yale University, San Francisco State University, Columbia and the New School for Social Research. Baraka made his home in Newark and remained a creative and political force. In 2002, he was named New Jersey’s second poet laureate — and soon became the center of a controversy surrounding his 9/11 poem “Somebody Blew Up America.” The poem — which pointed out offenses committed, mostly by whites, around the world and throughout history — included controversial lines that were considered anti-Semitic. Before Baraka could serve out his two-year term in the post, the poet laureate position was eliminated. Although he was frequently embroiled in political controversy, Baraka’s artistic achievements did not go unacknowledged. His awards include fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, a PEN/Faulkner Award, a Rockefeller Foundation Award for Drama, and the Langston Hughes Award from City College of New York. Baraka was definitely an incredible force of a man and he will be sorely missed. Our prayers are with his family. R.I.P.
Finally! A Chicago story about life instead of death … 9-Year-Old Chicago Girl Delivers Her Baby Sister When Mom Goes Into Labor Via ABCNews Alyssa Meza is not even 10, but she has proved to her mother that she can handle a crisis. The 9-year-old has at least won the unofficial title of “Best Older Sister” this week when she delivered her baby sister after her mother went into labor. “She said she felt the baby coming out, and I told her to push the baby out and I’ll catch the baby,” Alyssa told ABC Chicago station WLS-TV of helping her mother through labor. “She got scared, and I caught the baby, grabbed the towel and wrapped her around.” Alyssa also unraveled the umbilical cord wrapped around her sister’s neck, an important step she said she learned about after watching a medical TV show. “I had to unwrap it a little, and I ran next door to grab my neighbor because the baby was a little purple,” she told WLS-TV. Both Alyssa’s mother, Monique Meza, and the baby were taken to the hospital after a neighbor called 911. Both mother and baby returned home on New Year’s Day. Young Alyssa says she has aspirations to become a paramedic one day, says her mother: “I expected it from her, but not as much maturity that she has shown me, at her age, very mature,” Monique Meza told WLS-TV. “I know she has a bright future ahead of her.” We guess this story will go over well with the college admissions committees. Justine Sacco, a PR executive, is in major hot water after publicly tweeting a racist “joke” during a flight to Africa that went viral and didn’t go over too well. “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!” she wrote. Yeah … Justine Sacco Racist Tweet Justine Sacco is a New York-based communications director for media conglomerate IAC, which reps brands like OKCupid, Vimeo and CollegeHumor. At least she was. IAC responded to the controversy in a statement last night: “This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the views and values of IAC. This is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action.” The company, which is operated by billionaire media executive Barry Diller, noted that it had been unable to reach the in-flight “employee in question.” It’s unclear why she was flying to the continent in the first place, although she may want to consider staying in Africa after the backlash this caused. The offending tweet disappeared late last night , or this morning in Africa. Just after midnight in New York, in fact, Sacco’s entire account was gone. Not before outrage ensued over what many dubbed the “worst tweet of the year,” with one vengeful Twitter user putting Sacco’s cell phone number online. “She gon get that message I left,” one Twitter user wrote. Another added, “Listen, homegirl is about to be FIRED.” Sacco’s tweet also inspired the Twitter hashtag #HasJustineLandedYet, with users mocking her idiocy and speculating what would happen when she lands. “Sometimes you land with more baggage than you took off with,” one user tweeted, while others were more coarse in what they hoped she’d encounter. Further looking to capitalize on the situation, someone even created a website in the offending social media user’s name, justinesacco (dot) com It links to various charities benefiting sub-Saharan Africa. It’s possible Sacco was the victim of hackers, but her past tweets make that scenario seem less likely. Some of her previous one-liners include … “I like animals, but when it’s this cold out I’ll skin one myself for the fur” “I can’t be fired for things I say while intoxicated right?” “I had a sex dream about an autistic kid last night. #fml” #FIRED
