Now that Kelly Brook has gotten herself all pregnant out of wedlock, I need to resort back to my original favorite British hottie Cheryl Tweedy for my hotness fix. Here she is at some event the other night glowing with sexiness. I knew I could count on her, now if only she’ll move to Los Angeles so we can see her walking around in yoga pants or short shorts from time to time we’d be in business. Call me. more pictures of Cheryl Tweedy here
Just went outside to see supermoon. I am a little disappointed that nobody put a giant S and a cape on it. This week we start with a mini installment of Doctor Who prepared for Comic Relief charity fund-raising, which explains the problem with Amy Pond’s short skirts, plus a lot of timey wimey stuff: In Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Liberal Values Discovery Date : 19/03/2011 10:10 Number of articles : 2
While Jodie Foster the actress has a rich and varied resume — horror! science fiction! childrens’ adventure! whatever Flightplan was! — but as a director, she’s stuck to smaller, family-based dramas, including SXSW’ s sweetheart, The Beaver . But speaking to the Los Angles Times , Foster says she’s ready to direct a sci-fi thriller. Promising that it’ll have her usual Fosteresque “family element” as well as plenty of “genre moments,” Foster is still chewing over the details of the script with an unnamed writer. And of course, she still has to finishing shooting Roman Polanski’s Carnage as well as Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 follow-up, Elysium before she can turn her eyes sci-fi-ward. But let’s just hope that her next leading man isn’t also an unrepentant racist, anti-Semitic, wife-beating raging homophobe . It’ll make the press junket a lot simpler, I would think. [ LAT ]
While it mostly petered out here in the 90s, Comic Relief, a celebrity charity fundraiser, is still going strong in the UK. Loads of musicians, actors and other celebrities all get together to help combat poverty each March, and as in years past, Doctor Who has contributed a quickie episode to help the cause. In this go ’round, the TARDIS materializes inside itself and then…well, it’s all wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, but the important take-away is that if you’ve ever wanted to see Karen Gillan’s Amy Pond come on to herself, well, here’s your moment!
The idiosyncratic comic sings ‘Annie,’ shaves head, and lampoons ‘The Hangover’ on long running sketch comedy show. By Shawn Adler Zach Galifianakis on “Saturday Night Live” Photo: NBC After a well-received performance from host Miley Cyrus last week that contained funny, if fairly straightforward and typical sketches, Saturday Night Live wasted no time in racing back to its anti-comedy roots, thanks to an appearance last night (March 12) from the improvisational and idiosyncratic Zach Galifianakis, who was hosting the program for the second time. Galifianakis set the episode’s tone early, delivering a monologue chock full of non-sequiturs (“In April, I’ll be babysitting my sister’s kids,” he said. “Via Skype.”), before plunging with gusto into a lip-synched performance of the song “Tomorrow” from “Annie.” Adorned in the character’s iconic short red dress, Galifianakis pranced and skipped across the stage while pretending to sing at the top of his lungs, simultaneously pulling back cue cards to goad the audience in a bizarre cross between Andy Kaufman’s “Mighty Mouse” and Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues.” “Clap if you endorse medical marijuana,” one cue card read. “I smoke so much pot sometimes I forget to smoke it,” read another. “Dukakis 2012,” read the last. From there, Galifianakis appeared as an audience member vocally disappointed that he was at a taping of “The Talk” rather than his preferred “The View,” and an airhorn blowing comic in a pre-taped bit titled “The Original Kings of Catchphrase Comedy Tour.” But while he also took turns alternately playing the Captain of the Titanic and a Canadian talk show host with a penchant for long vowels, the show’s highlight might have been when Galifianakis appeared on the long running skit “Scared Straight” alongside Kenan Thompson. Wheeled in on a gurney and dressed to look like Hannibal Lector, Galifianakis and Thompson played words like musical notes, turning names and titles like Helena Bonham Carter, Colin Firth and “Home Alone” into borderline filthy and scatological puns. “And there won’t be a baby and a papoose, it’ll be a baby’s arm in your caboose,” Galifianakis punned, referencing his star turn in “The Hangover.” Galifianakis also appeared on the digital short, which revolved around the comic interviewing children to be his new personal assistant. The musical guest was Jessie J, who brought along B.o.B to perform “Price Tag” during the show’s musical interlude. What did you think of Galifianakis’s performance on “Saturday Night Live?” Which skit was the funniest? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Comedian suffered a massive heart attack Sunday. By James Dinh Mike DeStefano Photo: Michael Schwartz/ Getty Images “Last Comic Standing” finalist Mike DeStefano died Sunday after suffering a massive heart attack, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A rep for the 44-year-old DeStefano, who was a finalist on the NBC reality competition, confirmed the news in a statement to TMZ . “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a dear friend, a true gentleman, a great comic, and a fierce warrior, Mike DeStefano,” his rep said. “Mike had a lot of wisdom to share with the world from his own life lessons and he always did it with laughter and a smile. “It’s hard to think that there won’t be any more ‘hey sweetheart’ calls, because Mike always made my day with his mix of kindness and warmth AND profanity filled rants against the wrongs of the world. He was the genuine article. We love you and will miss you, Mike,” the statement continued. A former heroin addict, DeStefano had been clean for 11 years as well as HIV positive at the time of his death. Prior to competing on “Last Comic Standing,” the Bronx native had appeared on other shows, including “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham.” The comic was set to take his one-man show “A Cherry Tree” back to his home borough on Wednesday. He had also recently wrapped up a line of sold-out shows called “Drugs, Disease and Death: A Comedy.” Share your condolences for DeStefano’s family and friends in the comments.
‘It’s tremendous. I can’t tell you anything about it,’ actor says of the highly secretive script. By Rick Marshall Jeremy Renner attends the 2011 Academy Awards Photo: Getty Images With ” The Avengers ” hitting theaters in 2012, all eyes are on Marvel’s heroes as we get closer to the day when Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and a host of other comic book characters (and the actors who play them) will appear together on the same screen. One of the superheroes who won’t be debuting in his own solo movie is Clint Barton, the expert archer known as Hawkeye. Played by “Hurt Locker” actor Jeremy Renner , Hawkeye will likely make his official debut in “The Avengers” — though recent rumors have pegged him for a cameo in “Thor.” MTV News caught up with Renner on the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards and pressed him for details about his debut as the bow-wielding marksman. “Yes, I have [read the ‘Avengers’ script],” Renner said. “It’s tremendous. I can’t tell you anything about it.” Calling the film a “massive undertaking,” Renner praised the ambition of “Avengers” director Joss Whedon , who’s tasked with putting all of Marvel’s biggest stars in the same film and making sure there’s enough spotlight to go around. “He [will need to] pull all of those characters off and have it make sense,” the actor said. Little is known about the plot of “Avengers” at this point, other than that it will bring together a long list of high-profile actors and the larger-than-life characters they play in Marvel’s movie universe. During last year’s Comic-Con in San Diego , Marvel unveiled the core “Avengers” cast of Renner, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Clark Gregg (S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson). In order to prepare for the role, Renner said archery lessons are indeed on his to-do list — though he has yet to see the costume he’ll don as Hawkeye. As for that rumor about Hawkeye making a cameo in “Thor,” Renner would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of fans getting an early peek at his take on the Avenger’s marksman. “I might [have a cameo in ‘Thor’],” he teased. “Go see it. Check it out.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . There is something truly amazing yet unsettling about hearing James Gandolfini talk in his non-Tony Soprano voice. It has a dog-walking-on-hind-legs quality to it — your ears do what amounts to a double take. Of course, the different voice choices are how you know when Gandolfini is “acting” and not merely doing a variation on his famed — and brilliant — portrayal of Tony Soprano on The Sopranos . Sometimes the accents fail (cough, Welcome to the Rileys ), but they are always an interesting choice. To wit: His affectation as a sleazy reality television producer in 1970s California is perfect in the trailer for Cinema Verite . How about the rest of this movie-about-a-documentary telefilm?
Though Mr. Sunshine stars Matthew Perry as a San Diego arena manager and Allison Janney as his unpredictable boss, it’s James Lesure (as former basketball star Alonzo) who adds a sense of cool to the comic delirium. We caught up with Lesure, the former star of NBC’ s Las Vegas , just before last week’s highly rated premiere to discuss Matthew Perry, Alonzo’s stability, and his preferred Friends cast member.
