ChitChatter: ‘R&B Divas’ Star Dawn Robinson Accuses Producers Of Creating Fake Drama And Portraying Black Women Negatively To Boost Ratings

Are Black women portrayed as angry birds on TV? Dawn Robinson Accuses Producers Of Faking Drama For Ratings Divas star Dawn Robinson (formerly of En Vogue) recently revealed the meeting her and fellow cast-mates had where the were told they were “boring” and needed to amp up the drama to ensure the show’s success. Via 4umf reports: “Because we were such a part of the show, the producers speak to us midway and said, ‘You guys have a boring show.’ And I said at the meeting, ‘Is that because we’re not fighting against each other? We’re not pulling each other’s hair out? We’re not negative against each other? Is that because we support each other, and we’re loving towards each other as women? You want to see the negativity because in your mind, drama is what gets the ratings.’ “But at the same time right now, what we’re seeing is that the show so far – and this is midway through filming. So this is half way through filming – what we’re seeing now is that the show, so far the four episodes that they’ve shown have been very positive and very loving, and people are reacting to the positivity on the show. And so, they have the highest rating in TV One history, our show is the highest rated show in TV One history, and that’s positivity. This show is not negative so far, and yet you guys have the highest rated show in TV One history without any drama? That says a lot – that means it was never necessary in the first place. Real life has enough drama in it without having to add to it and create some stuff ’cause you guys want ratings. It’s just ridiculous, so it’s pretty sad, but we don’t control that.” Poor Dawn! But, she should know what type of personality it takes to do well on reality tv. If you’re not ratchet or ready to sell your soul then it ain’t for you. Continue reading

OOPS! Detroit Police Admit To Accidentally Sending Out Department-Wide Email With All Female Officers Bra Sizes!

Why the hell does the police department have the women’s bra sizes in the first place??? Detroit Police Accidentally Sends Mass Email With All Female Officers Bra Sizes Via NYDailyNews The Detroit Police Department was caught with its pants down Monday after admitting an email containing bra sizes of its female officers was accidentally sent out to cops. The women had provided their height, weight and cup sizes for bulletproof vests that they would be issued, the Fox affiliate in Detroit reported. “Unfortunately and embarrassingly, the cup sizes of the females were listed on that third page, and it was really just a clerical error,” DPD Assistant Chief James White told WJBK. It was Commander Dwayne Love’s job to inform the officers that the vests were ready to be picked up, White said. An email containing an Excel spreadsheet was forwarded first to commanders, then to supervisors and finally to officers, the station reported. The spreadsheet included the officers’ height, weight — and cup sizes. Love could be facing discipline for the gaffe. “Conscientious, very hard-working command officer,” White said of Love. “However, it’s an embarrassing situation, and I’m going to be addressing the issue formally with him over the next couple weeks.” Some of the female officers plan to file grievances againat the department, WJBK reported. This sounds like a practical joke gone really wrong. “Clerical error”??? Yeah aight… Image via Shutterstock Continue reading

WATCH: ‘White House Down’ Sneak Peek − Roland Emmerich Really Likes His Air Jordans Scene

Roland Emmerich likes the Air Jordans scene in White House Down .  As you may have heard, Emmerich and the leading men of his movie, Jamie Foxx  and  Channing Tatum , gave moviegoers in New York and London a sneak peek of about eight minutes of footage from their Washington-under-siege movie on Tuesday, and, at the risk of sounding like Chance the Gardener,  I had the unexpected opportunity of watching the director watch his handiwork from the audience.  Emmerich and Foxx appeared before a hyped-up crowd at a Regal cineplex in Manhattan’s Union Square and were joined via satellite by Tatum, who was at a screening in London.  Audiences in both locations were first shown the trailer for White House Down  (posted below), then Good Morning America ‘s Sam Champion asked a lot of  how-did-it-feel-type questions of the trio and their respective roles. Tatum plays John Cale — screenwriter James Vanderbilt must be a Velvet Underground fan — a cop who is on a tour of the White House with his daughter when it is attacked during a coup attempt, and President James Sawyer, portrayed by Foxx, is taken hostage.  The two men team up to battle the paramilitary forces — homegrown, based on Emmerich’s comments — that are attempting to take control of the country and, on a more human scale, to rescue Cale’s daughter. After Emmerich admitted to some reservations about showing an extended look at his work-in-progress, the lights went down a second time and the crowd was treated to approximately eight minutes of footage that better established Tatum and Foxx’s characters.  Prior to the White House tour, Cale is shown apologizing to his daughter for not being a better dad and lifting her spirits by telling her about  the White House tour they’re going to take right after his interview for a plum Secret Service gig. That interview which is conducted by a tough-talking Maggie Gyllenhaal, goes terribly, and, based on the footage shown, implausibly.  Gyllenhaal is shown quoting evaluations by Cale’s law-enforcement superiors and there are enough negative ones that, given that the job involves protecting the president, it’s unlikely the interview would have even been scheduled. But things picked up considerably from there.  Just before all hell broke loose, a White House tour guide refers to the part of the White House “that got blown up in Independence Day ,”  which the crowd  loved. That was followed by extended footage of another national monument, the Capitol Building being destroyed in spectacular fashion. (Trust me, it’s more memorable than the short version you see in the trailer.) By then, Emmerich had left his seat next to Foxx at the front of the theater and plopped down on the floor in the middle of the theater next to yours truly — there were no seats to be had at this point — presumably to watch the footage from the crowd’s perspective. As the Capitol Building imploded, I watched Emmerich out of the corner of my eye to see if the German filmmaker was looking impressed with himself or particularly gleeful at the cinematic destruction of an iconic American image. He wasn’t.  He watched the footage intently but without any evident emotion. The scene that got an obvious rise out of Emmerich was one in which, after Cale and Sawyer make their way to the president’s living quarters, the Commander-in-Chief breaks out a pair of sweet Air Jordans. The director laughed out loud at that scene, and also appeared to enjoy another bit of comic relief later in the picture where Foxx kicks a terrorist who’s grabbing at his feet and says, “Get your hands off my Jordans!”  (Foxx told the crowd that he was not playing a fictional version of Barack Obama, but that he did do “Obama-type things” in the movie, and the Jordans certainly seemed to reference our actual president’s love of basketball.) Eight minutes of footage does not a movie make, but if Emmerich can maintain the level of humor, action and drama that his sneak peek demonstrated, White House Down  could potentially dwarf the $30.5 million opening weekend that   Olympus Has Fallen   notched and become another Independence Day-sized hit for Emmerich. At the very least, it will earn him the distinction of the filmmaker who blew up by blowing up the White House — twice. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on  Twitter . Follow Movieline on  Twitter .

13 Hurt in D.C. Shooting, Suspects Remain at Large

A drive-by shooting in front of a crime-ridden apartment complex in Washington D.C. this morning left 13 people injured , the youngest of who was 17 years old. Detectives are looking for information on two vehicles seen around Tyler House – which is located on North Capitol Street/New York Avenue – around 2:10 a.m. The eight-story, subsidized building has been the scene of many crimes over the years. Fortunately, this time around, none of the wounded are in critical danger. D.C. police chief Cathy L. Lanier says no motive has been determined yet, though Fur Nightclub (located a block away) has been the source of numerous recent complains, with patrons gathering in front of Tyler House after the establishment closes for the evening. “A whole lot of people with cash in their pockets come out onto the street, and the guys from Tyler House are waiting for them,” says Commander Andy Solberg. That’s when you get the holdups and that’s the source of the shootings in the neighborhood.”

Michelle Obama on Bangs: My Midlife Crisis!

First Lady Michelle Obama calls her new bangs a midlife crisis. If that’s true, it’s a relatively tame and very fashionable one! Michelle, who debuted a new hairstyle last month on her 49th birthday , reveals that her decision to chop her locks was “my way of getting a little wild.” Hey, with the Secret Service around, one can only get so wild. Well, unless one is a member of the Secret Service. In which case, hookers galore! Anyway, “This is my mid-life crisis, the bangs,” she joked to Rachael Ray. “I couldn’t get a sports car, I can’t bungee jump … so instead, I cut my bangs.” Even President Barack Obama couldn’t resist giving a nod to Michelle Obama’s bangs during a speech prior to his second inauguration on January 20. “To address the most significant event of this weekend,” the Commander-in-Chief began, “I love her bangs. She looks good. She always looks good.” Michelle Obama’s bangs :   Love the new look! Not a big fan actually! View Poll »

Detroit Dad Gets Life in Prison: D’Andre Lane Sentenced in Bianca Jones’ Death

D’Andre Lane denied abusing and killing his 2-year-old daughter, Bianca Jones, but the Detroit dad still was sentenced to life in prison with no parole Monday. Lane, 33, told the court before his sentencing that he loved his daughter and all of his children. He said he didn’t abuse the children but did discipline them. “I understand you want to see someone take the fall, but you have yet to bring any evidence forward that says my daughter is dead,” Lane said. Banika Jones, Bianca’s mother, supported Lane’s innocence. “There’s a murder conviction , and she’s not legally dead,” Jones said of Bianca, who would’ve been three in November. “They made a mistake and I intend to correct it.” A Wayne County jury found Lane guilty of murder and first-degree child abuse in October in the disappearance of his daughter; the case remains unsolved. Judge Vonda Evans also sentenced Lane to 11-30 years for first-degree child abuse, saying he used manipulation, mental abuse and discipline to control others. “You beat and verbally abused her to others and you destroyed her mentally,” Evans said. “Physically you took her around and treated her body like a rag doll, putting her in a car without food and diapers and lied about a car-jacking in a city plagued with violence.” Evans said Lane lied about the car-jacking because he underestimated the attention it would get. Police and about 1,100 residents conducted a week-long search for the child. At 9:45 p.m. December 2, 2011, Lane called 911 and told dispatchers he was carjacked by two men in the area of East Grand Boulevard and Brush Street in Detriot. He said the alleged assailants drove away with his daughter, who was strapped in a car seat. The Mercury Grand Marquis that Lane was driving was found blocks away, with the engine running and the doors open. The car seat was there, but Bianca was gone. “Now you will face what you tried to escape with your life,” Evans told Lane, who was taken out of the courtroom after the sentencing and called Evans a liar.

President Obama: Rocking Man Cave Status in Oval Office!

Last week, in the spirit of bipartisanship, Barack Obama invited his vanquished Republican rival Mitt Romney to the White House for lunch at the Oval Office. Also known as the Man Cave. The President has gradually transformeded the Oval into a far less stuffy place. Out are those archaic floral couches. In are the sporting goods and flat screens! Michelle must not allow him to make decor choices anywhere else. The room is the most important one in the nation … in terms of national security or just bro-ing out. It’s a place you’ve got to get in the right mindset before entering. For the Commander-in-Chief, an avid sports fan, it’s a place where major decisions are made, but major fun appears to be had during the lighter moments. See additional Barack Obama photos below:
