Ron Paul: US “Counterfeit Machine” Will Lead To Political, Social Chaos

Congressman, analysts warn that deficit must be reduced now or globalist sharks will tear America to pieces. Texas Congressman Ron Paul, active member of the Committee on Financial Services, appeared on MSNBC today and issued a stark warning to viewers regarding the continuing debt crisis: reduce the deficit now or face mass political and social chaos. The Congressman began by acknowledging that the country is waking up to the fact that continued spending and an increasing deficit is unsustainable, but noted that this awakening has come “out of desperation” and there is still a long way to go before solutions can be put into place. The Congressman told Morning Joe that he is “heartened” to see that the Debt Commission is considering his proposal to cut military spending. However, Paul noted that he remains unconvinced, stating that there is a “need to change the policy, you can’t quit one weapons system and think that’s a solution if you still want to be policemen of the world.” While making it clear that he does not see welfare spending as a long term solution, the Congressman suggested taking $10 billion that is earmarked for building more foreign embassies and bases and putting half of it into medical or unemployment benefits “to tide us over”, while using the remaining $5 billion “against the deficit.” Earlier this week, the Congressman emphasized in a commentary piece that Congress should refuse to raise the debt ceiling, a vote that will likely take place early next year, noting that it would act as a litmus test for the new Republican controlled House. Paul wrote that “You will know that Congress, despite the rhetoric of the midterm elections, is doing business as usual.” if they vote to raise the debt ceiling. The Congressman elaborated on this issue in today’s interview. “If the Fed couldn’t monetize debt and the debt limit couldn’t be increased, [Congress] would say oh my goodness, we’re going to have to change policies, maybe we shouldn’t be the policemen of the world, maybe we shouldn’t be the endless welfare state, and it will come to an end.” The Congressman said. “And when it ends with the dollar crisis, everybody loses… then there’s political chaos. We’re not immune to that. This idea that we won’t suffer the same consequences of other nations…right now we bail out everybody!..But it all depends on trust in the dollar.” he added. “One day people will wake up and say ‘why are we trusting this counterfeit machine.’ We’re the biggest counterfeit machine in the history of the world.” MSNBC’s Jim Cramer re-emphasized the Congressman’s points by noting that if something is not done now to reduce the deficit, the consequences could be irreversible. “This is too close, this is not thirty or forty years if we don’t do something, this is ten years. It’s way too close and we have got to reach some agreement.” Cramer said. “IMF comes here if we don’t do this deficit reduction.” Cramer added. “The IMF is really pretty powerful, and you don’t want them in your country. But that’s who comes in when you can’t pay your debts.” the analyst warned. Ron Paul added that he has spent a long time warning that we are dumping huge amounts of debt on our children and our grandchildren, but “I don’ t think that’s true anymore, it’s here, we’re in the midst of the crisis.” http://www.prisonplanet.com/ron-paul-us-counterfeit-machine-will-lead-to-politic… added by: im1mjrpain

Changing the Face of Hospital Food in Virginia

photo: Sara Novak When I saw this story I couldn’t help the huge grin that appeared on my face. I was born and raised in Charlottesville, Va so a story such as this in my small hometown lightens my heart. While hospital food certainly has a bad reputation, and in many cases, it’s deserved, the University Health System at the University of Virginia is taking steps to change all that thanks to Local Food Hub …. Lefties Upset By Murdoch Donation Take Note: 88 Percent of Network Donations Went to Dems

With liberals up in arms over News Corp’s political contributions, here’s an interesting fact worth noting: of the roughly $1.15 million network TV employees gave to political candidates in 2008, a full 88 percent of it went to Democrats. Barack Obama received almost half a million dollars from those same execs, while John McCain received just over $25,000. The discrepancy between donations to the Democratic and Republican parties was also enormous. Though the numbers are striking, the imbalance is not altogether surprising. But they do help to put in prospect the left’s righteous indignation over the political activities of Fox News’s parent company. According to the Washington Examiner’s Mark Tapscott : The Democratic total of $1,020,816 was given by 1,160 employees of the three major broadcast television networks, with an average contribution of $880. By contrast, only 193 of the employees contributed to Republican candidates and campaign committees, for a total of $142,863. The average Republican contribution was $744… President Obama received 710 such contributions worth a total of $461,898, for an average contribution of $651 from the network employees. Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain received only 39 contributions totaling $26,926, for an average donation of $709, Ninety-six contributions by broadcast network employees to the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Senate and House campaign committees totaled $217,881. Thirty-eight contributions by broadcast network employees to the Republican National Committee and the Republican Senate and House campaign committees totaled $23,805… Notable contributors found in the CBS data include “journalist” Seth Davis, who gave $2,750 to Obama, CBS Corporation vice president and editor-in-chief Jane Goldman, who contributed $250 to Obama, CBS Radio “host” Mike Omeara, who gave $1,471 to Obama, and “journalist” Beverly Williams, who donated $200 to Obama. Among NBC contributors were Saturday Night Live producer Jeffrey Ross, who contributed $500 to Sen. Chris Dodd, D-CN, former NBC Today Show weatherman Willard Scott. who gave $500 to the Republican National Committee, NBC Universal CFO Jennifer Cabalquinto, whose donations to Obama totaled $1,200, NBC Universal “editor” David Mack, with $250 to Obama and $2,300 McCain.

Wyclef Jean Presidential Bid Squashed By Haiti Officials

‘Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee’s final decision,’ Jean says. By Mawuse Ziegbe Wyclef Jean Photo: Steve Mack/ Getty Images Wyclef Jean is officially out of the running to be Haiti’s next president. Haitian election officials put the kibosh on the musician’s bid to lead the troubled island nation, according to The Associated Press. “Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee’s final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same,” Jean said in a statement. “I want to assure my countrymen that I will continue to work for Haiti’s renewal; though the board has determined that I am not a resident of Haiti, home is where the heart is — and my heart has and will always be in Haiti.” The Haitian electoral council reportedly did not reveal why Jean was found ineligible to become an official candidate, but the singer has been dogged by questions about his status as a resident of Haiti. The news comes after recent reports indicated that Jean was not on the approved list of candidates for the November 28 election. Jean’s attempt to become president of Haiti has been a brief but memorable endeavor. After speculation that the Grammy-winning artist would seek political office reached a fever pitch, Jean announced his intention to run for president on August 5 on CNN’s “Larry King Live.” The MC said that he was inspired to enter the political arena after witnessing the devastating effects of the January earthquake that has ravaged the nation. “After January 12 … being out here with my wife and picking up dead bodies from the ground, I felt that because of the youth of Haiti and the population, that this is not even Wyclef saying that ‘I want to be the president of Haiti.’ I feel like I’m being drafted by the population right now to give them a different face, a different voice,” Jean said. However, Jean’s political aspirations were quickly questioned by high-profile critics such as actor Sean Penn and Jean’s former Fugees bandmate Pras. Pras told MTV News that he didn’t believe the chart-topping artist had the experience to guide the country through its range of complex issues. “He talks about health care, he talks about education, he talks about infrastructure,” Pras said. “But that’s in any society. That’s right here in America, we need that. But how are you gonna get to that point? There’s a short-term goal that needs to be addressed and there’s a long-term goal. To be honest with you, the short term is probably more important than the long term. And he didn’t even mention the short term.” How do you feel now that Wyclef won’t be Haiti’s next president? Is This the Year for a Giant Shift in Emmy’s Reality Categories?

Over the years, the Emmys have championed several underdogs who truly deserved the hardware — The Wonder Years , Arrested Development , Andre Braugher, Bryan Cranston, Kristin Chenoweth, and my eternal girl Jackee Harry all come to mind — but when it comes to reality television, the committee is stubborn in its devotion to the same staid programming. Even casual statisticians know that the Reality Competition Emmy has gone to The Amazing Race since the award’s inception in 2002, but there’s a point when a winning streak becomes a regime, and Phil Keoghan’s juggernaut surely qualifies by now. Still, a big change may come tomorrow morning with the 2010 Emmy nominees: a shake-up for reality TV and the people who appreciate it.

Scientology compares itself to the Salvation Army in Senate inquiry

The Church of Scientology has compared itself to The Salvation Army, while defending its benefit to the community in a Senate inquiry. The organisation was scrutinised by an inquiry into legislation proposed by independent senator Nick Xenophon, which would require religious groups to prove what public benefit they provide, before getting tax breaks. Its representative, Virginia Stewart, told the committee its members lent a hand in times of disaster and promoted drug-free messages. “The church believes the proposed bill is inherently flawed and puts at risk the financial future of charities and religions in Australia,” she said. But a Church of Scientology officer from New Zealand, Mike Ferris, told the inquiry that a public interest test in his country had done no harm. Scientology has charitable status in New Zealand, where the Charity Commission of New Zealand was established in 2005. It demands charities clear a public benefit test, and makes them hand over financial statements, which are available publicly online. Mr Ferris said he believed the commission had been fair to the Church of Scientology. “I think the New Zealand Charities Commission has treated us fairly,” he said. “I think it's a fair process.” The inquiry also heard from ex-Scientologists who went public with their shocking experiences earlier this year, when Senator Xenophon twice failed in efforts to have an inquiry into abuse allegations. Among them was James Anderson, who claims he and his wife spent up to $1.2 million on Scientology materials, and Janette Vonthehoff, who says she was coerced into having abortions, and worked long hours for the organisation under duress. Both argued the organisation should not get tax-free status, because it was completely self-serving, and provided no benefit to taxpayers. Mr Ferris compared the glare on Scientology to that previously directed at The Salvation Army. “They weren't welcome here in Australia, they weren't welcome in New Zealand in the early 19th century because of their view against alcohol,” he said. “They were beaten up and they were persecuted, so where do you go?” Mr Ferris was asked why the records on the website of his country's charity commission showed the organisation went from an income of $2.6 million in 2007, to $374,000 in 2008. “I think that drop in income, was actually, from memory, was the exchange rate drop, absolutely,” he said, but later admitted he wasn't certain. The Church of Scientology also committed to handing over its books to the committee for further scrutiny. http://hiscrivener.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/tom-cruise-and-scientology.jpg http://digg.com/politics/Scientology_compares_itself_to_the_Salvation_Army added by: iamfree

Don’t Feed The Troll

Trolls do zilch for me these days. This is because I'm jaded. Allow me to explain. I moderate a rather high-profile message board. This has been a pastime of mine for a few years now. Over the years, I have seen my share of trolls, and I've learned that the best way to deal with trolls is not to react to them. You see, the troll is an enigmatic creature. They could be just about anyone you imagine…your teacher, your mail carrier, your sibling, even one of your parents or grandparents. They could be fine, upstanding citizens, who simply like to say inflammatory things on the Internet just to get a rise out of people…(continued) added by: DoctorLulzington
