The Wall Street Journal reports on an article that the two new iphones being brewed will be made by several manufacturers in Taiwan. As it is said in the article: The people briefed on the matter said the upgraded GSM iPhone is being made by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which produced Apple’s previous iPhones. The upcoming model is likely to be thinner and have a faster processor, and will most likely catch up with the competition on the market along with the Google Nexus One Phone and Blackberry Smartphones. And since apple has already dominated the market through an exclusive contract with AT&T, plans of incremental distribution on the market along with Verizon Wireless on CDMA network is most likely to happen. Tareq and Michaele Salahi Will Actually Star on The Real Housewives of D.C.

Sorry, Sarah Palin. Incredibly, you’re NOT the most pathetic person to land a new reality show this month. Tareq and Michaele Salahi – the absolute morons who crashed a party at the White House last year – won’t simply star in The Real Housewives of D.C .; the awful couple will be a focal point of the Bravo program. The Salahis actually averted the Secret Service and shook hands with President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and many others in November 2008. Reportedly, the pair was being filmed as part of its audition for this series when the crashing took place. A dozen episodes of the first season have been shot and are slated to premiere in July, according to The Daily Beast . Paris Hilton’s aunts and Kelsey Grammer’s wife will also star on the show . Looks like the competition for This Year’s Sign of the Apocalypse is over before it began.

Tim Urban Won’t Go Shirtless For ‘American Idol’ Votes

‘I will not be performing shirtless at any point in the competition,’ Top 11 finalist says. By Jim Cantiello Tim Urban Photo: FOX Shirtless photos of “American Idol” finalist Tim Urban are spreading around the Internet, and MTV News recently caught up with the “Idol” hopeful to find out why he was caught parading around a catwalk wearing nothing but a bathing suit and a smile. “I was involved in a competition — it was for acting, modeling and singing,” Urban explained. “One of the competitions was a swimsuit competition. And, obviously, I entered a swimsuit competition and obviously there are photos from that. And they’ve definitely gotten out there.” The competition Urban is referring to is a weeklong, biannual event thrown by Actors, Models & Talent for Christ (or AMTC), a talent-development company. Urban entered last July, when he placed top five in the “singer/songwriter” category, and received more than two dozen callbacks. (His performance of an original tune, “Still Almost There,” is easy to track down on popular streaming video sites.) In fact, Urban did so well in the competition that Carey Arban, owner of AMTC, believes Tim was well on his way before Simon Cowell entered the picture. In an e-mail sent to MTV News, Arban wrote, “Tim was a standout at AMTC … Modeling may not have been his No.1 focus, but Tim certainly did well and got attention from modeling agents [in both Dallas and New York City]. He did not follow up on his AMTC callbacks immediately because he was just beginning the audition process for [‘Idol’] at that time.” Urban’s swimsuit photos have picked up steam in recent weeks thanks to anti-“Idol” site Vote for the Worst, which playfully urged its readers to forward the pictures to as many young girls as possible in order to bait them into voting for the all-American reality star. When asked if he thinks the ab-tastic pics may have helped him win votes on “Idol,” where he’s been knocked repeatedly by the judges for his singing abilities, Urban shrugged. “I don’t know what [the photos] did but I can’t get it back, so it’s out there,” he said, flashing a toothy grin. Meanwhile, Arban has a different theory. “If someone asked me what got Tim into the Top 11 out of 100,000 or so who auditioned this season, I would answer, ‘The cool factor, plus the favor of God.’ ” (Incidentally, season three runner-up Diana DeGarmo was also an AMTC alum.) Last week, Urban landed in the bottom three after performing a reggae-tinged “Under My Thumb” on Rolling Stones night . And the judges were less than thrilled with his stage-sliding Queen performance on Tuesday night . But no matter how close to elimination the singer gets, Tim insists he won’t use his physique to win more votes. “I will not be performing shirtless at any point in the competition. I’m sorry,” he said, before sarcastically adding, “I had to make this decision. It took a lot of time; it was tough but I’ve decided I can’t do that.” A fully-clothed Tim Urban will join the rest of the Top 11 tonight for an always-dramatic results episode. Miley Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato are all scheduled to perform. Do Tim Urban’s shirtless snaps sway your vote? Let us know in the comments below! Lacey Brown Thinks Lack Of ‘Energy’ Led To ‘American Idol’ Exit

‘Even though I’m a bubbly, happy person, not every song that I sing is gonna be uptempo,’ she says. By Katie Byrne Lacey Brown Photo: FOX Lacey Brown had an “American Idol” Cinderella story. In season eight, she just missed the cut for the top 36 when the judges opted for another quirky singer, Megan Joy, instead. Well, this was her year. Not only did she get past Hollywood Week to the top 24, she even made it to the top 12 and the big stage. Unfortunately, her performance of the Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday” didn’t cut it, and she was the first finalist to get the boot . We caught up with the 24-year-old Texan on Thursday (March 18) to talk about why she decided to try out again this year, the judges’ conflicting advice and what’s next. Q : The judges have been offering a lot of conflicting advice this season. Do you think that made it harder to show America what kind of artist you want to be? A : It’s difficult with the criticism this year, because it has been a little bit confusing, and therefore I would change things week to week, which can leave the audience kind of questioning who I am. I would say I’m a very different artist. I have a very different voice that’s not suited for a lot of different genres, but I really see myself doing more of a pop/folk mix. I definitely can see myself making an album soon. I would love to do that, if I get the chance to. I just want to give people the chance to hear something that’s fresh and new and different. There’s not a lot of voices like mine right now on the radio, so I kind of take pride in the fact that I’m a lot different. I’ve always been a little bit more unique and individual, and I try to embrace that, and I tried to show that in my performances. Hopefully people can get that, and hopefully they like it. I’m looking forward to writing some new music that fits my voice and that people really like. Q : What made you come back this year after making it so far last season? A : I’m one of those people that gets very competitive. [ Laughs. ] And I decided that it’s way too much of an experience to not try again, to try to get further. If I would have made it into the top 36 last year, I wouldn’t have been able to come back this year. So I’m really glad I got a second chance. I’m really glad I decided to come back, because I needed to work on a couple things and come back and get further in the competition. That wasn’t a hard decision at all, because everybody that’s involved in this show — all the contestants, all the relationships — everything about this has just been a blast for me. So I just decided, “I’m gonna do it twice!” [ Laughs. ] Q : Can you pinpoint your downfall in the competition? A : I would probably have to say energy. They kept asking for energy in my songs, and I kept trying to give it, and they kept saying it was a sleepy performance. They wanted to see a little bit more energy, because [I have] a happy and bubbly type of personality, and they just wanted to see that transferred into my music. The issue that I was having is, I really love to sing ballads. I love telling a story with a song. I love the emotion of the song. I’m very artsy, so that side of me comes out when I sing. I think I kept picking songs that I really loved to sing and really felt, and maybe it didn’t transfer as well onstage. Maybe that was it. But I wouldn’t have changed any of it, because that’s who I am. Even though I’m a bubbly, happy person, not every song that I sing is gonna be uptempo. Q : Did you get a chance to talk to the judges after the results show? A : All the judges came up afterwards. I think they genuinely care about the contestants. Sometimes it’s hard to hear their critiques, but they’re there to help you. It’s a fine line between taking what they say personally and taking what they say and applying it to fix yourself and work things out that you need to work out. When they came up afterwards, they had nothing but nice things to say, things like, “This is just another step into your career. You have great vocals. You’re very unique.” They’re just full of compliments, because they want to see us succeed. And they don’t want us to feel like all hope is lost, because it’s not. I’m in the top 12 right now, and even though I got voted off, this is not the end-all for me. This is a great opportunity to jump-start my career. I think that’s the point they were trying to make. Q : Who are some of your musical influences, and would you ever like to work with them? A : I have a lot of influences right now. One of my biggest influences is Patsy Cline. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to work with her. I learned a lot from her performances, like how to tell a story in a song to make you feel like you’ve fallen in love again or make you feel like your heart’s broken. She was a great performer. … Also, there’s new and upcoming people who I’ve been following for a couple years like Pete Yorn, who’s just an amazing musician and singer that has a great vibe, and not a whole lot of people know who he is yet, but I think he’s an upcoming huge deal. I have a lot of indie bands that I like, and I got a couple country bands that I really like right now. I’m finding influence from everywhere. Were you sad to see Lacey go? Katelyn Epperly Had ‘Pride Issues’ With Being On ‘American Idol’

‘A talent competition is not necessarily my thing,’ she says. By Katie Byrne Katelyn Epperly performs on “American Idol” Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Katelyn Epperly finally had a breakout “American Idol” performance last week with Coldplay’s “The Scientist,” even though the judges didn’t see eye-to-eye on it. But the whole panel agreed that her take on Carole King’s “I Feel the Earth Move” didn’t live up to her potential. Even so, Epperly wasn’t expected to get the boot on Thursday, but such was the theme of the shocking results night , when Lilly Scott , Alex Lambert and Todrick Hall were also sent packing. We caught up with the singer/songwriter to talk about her closest “Idol” allies, her next move and more. Q : Did you feel that the judges were especially hard on you this season? A : They were definitely more critical towards me. I’m not sure if it’s possibly because I’ve been performing for so long. Maybe they expected more out of me than what I was giving them. But I started off on a pretty strong note, so maybe I didn’t live up to their expectations week by week. Q : Did you sing “I Feel the Earth Move” to compensate for Simon’s “corny” comments the week before? A : I totally did. I definitely was trying to find a song that would portray me as an artist, which is difficult for a singer/songwriter in this competition, because first of all, I don’t listen to mainstream music, and second of all, I don’t typically perform covers. So I kind of scrambled around last-minute trying to do something. I brought out the Wurlitzer keyboard .I wanted to do something edgier, and it didn’t work out for me, but I definitely don’t regret doing it, because I love that era. Q : You and Lilly seemed especially emotional during the results show. Why was that? A : Lilly and I have gotten really close, and from the start, we’ve flocked together. Crystal [Bowersox] too. I don’t typically hang out with girls very often, so this was a rare thing for all three of us, actually. To really truly have female friends and to get along so well and to be so supportive of one another and turning and seeing them there — for me, it wasn’t over. This is sort of a platform in my career. I wasn’t so sad about that; I was sad to see them, and I’m gonna say it was a pretty big disappointment to me to see Lilly go home, because if I were to be at home watching that show, she would, by far, over all the other girls, not be the one going home. Q : What made you choose “The Scientist” last week? A : It’s definitely a song that comes to mind when I think about anything hard I’ve had to do, any sort of loss. It’s a very touching, riveting song. I covered it a lot this summer and coped with a lot of things that I was going through. This is a song that is sad but also hopeful. When they said it was too slow, that was OK with me. I was waiting for that comment. I wanted to do it slow. I wanted to focus on the lyrics of the song. The song just cries, and I think I portrayed it, despite what the judges might have thought. Q : Are you especially rooting for anyone now that you’re off the show? A : I wish them all well, because I’ve gotten to know them all, and everyone’s worked so hard. Honestly, from the start, Crystal has been a very true, true friend to me and an honest person. And when she sings, it comes from the heart, and I know you’ve watched her. It’s just natural for her, and she totally deserves it. I’m going to be pushing for her all the way. Q : Was it comforting to you for there to be so many other singer/songwriters in the competition this season? A : I think that’s very important. That’s actually what made me so much more OK with being on the show, because I did have some pride issues with it at first, because a talent competition is not necessarily my thing. I’m the kind of person who just likes to sing and dance and spend time with music instead of making it something competitive. I’ve seen so many singer/songwriters this year who really are credible and who have been working at it their whole lives and truly deserve it. They didn’t just roll out of bed one day and want to be on a TV show and have an OK voice and a pretty face. So it was really fun to sit around backstage while we were rehearsing. We got to just jam out together. We’d all pass around the guitar and sing. It was awesome. Q : Would you have liked to sing your original songs on the show, if that were an option? A : That’s a tough one. It would be really awesome because I feel like people like Lilly, Crystal and I and others, we would definitely excel in that kind of category. At the same time, it is a show where you get judged. It’s really hard, because original music, especially the music I write, is filled with a lot of emotion and it’s based on personal experiences, and I think it would be hard for me to get up in front of four people and for them to tell me my personal experiences are invalid and my song that I wrote when I was going through a hard time wasn’t good enough. So its mixed and matched, but I definitely think it would be a cool twist to bring to a show and really bring to light some of those true musicians. Q : What’s next? Will you head back to Iowa? A : I am planning on going back for now, since I’m flat broke. [ Laughs. ] I gotta go back to Des Moines and start working and continue to pursue recording and writing music with all sorts of different artists. The band called Lovedrug is a band I’ve been listening to since I was real young. I’m gonna get together with them and hopefully write some music with them as well as other artists. Just getting back in the studio and getting back to what I truly love to do. Were you sad to see Katelyn go? Will you listen to her post-“Idol” music? Let us know! Assistant Ditches Cursing Yahoo CEO for Much Cooler Twitter CEO [Cubicle Culture]

Kristen Cordle is stoked : The young executive assistant has abandoned the scary pirate captain of dying Yahoo to work for the CEO of red-hot Twitter Inc. She’s already dissing her lame old company, and the competition. Cordle made appropriately sentimental noises when she left her job working for potty-mouthed Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz , tweeting that co-founder “Jerry Yang just gave me a good-bye hug :: tear::,” and, under a picture of Bartz , ” I’ll miss these ladies…and many many more.” But once Cordle was a safe distance from her fire-breathing boss , the truth came out : Twitter is SO much cooler: That was after approximately one workday at Twitter. After one more, Cordle was ready to diss rival social network Facebook: Cordle, a San Francisco resident, hints that she took the Twitter job in part to avoid the lengthy commute to Yahoo’s HQ in Sunnyvale. But there’s no question the gig will help the former Logitech program manager further ascend the professional ladder she’s made her way up so quickly and adroitly thus far: Cordle will be assisting Twitter CEO Ev Williams , according to blogger and Silicon Valley startup advisor Louis Gray , and was press-savvy enough to send repeated shout-outs to longtime tech journalist Kara Swisher while re-tweeting the tech bloggers at Mashable, including Twitter chronicler Ben Parr. Maybe she’s an internet celebrity in the making. It’s not every company that gives executive assistants enough free time to become a fameball, but Twitter’s not your typical sort of place . Crystal Bowersox’s ‘Give Me One Reason’ Dominates ‘American Idol’

‘Right now, you are the one everyone has to beat,’ Simon says after Tracy Chapman cover. By James Montgomery Crystal Bowersox Photo: Fox If her straight-outta-the-hospital performance on last week’s “American Idol” established Crystal Bowersox as the unlikely front-runner, well, her Tuesday night (March 9) performance definitely put some distance between her and the rest of the field. Miles of it. Bowersox roared though a version of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason,” armed with an electric guitar and a newfound sense of confidence — perhaps influenced by “Idol” judge Simon Cowell’s praise of her during an appearance on Monday night’s “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” She positively blew away the competition, earned a much-deserved standing ovation and absolutely wowed the judges. “I need a new adjective for you; I’m sick and tired of saying you’re amazing,” Ellen DeGeneres enthused. “It was the best performance of the night.” “Now I’m starting to see what the record is you’re making,” Kara DioGuardi said, praising Bowersox’s selection of the song. “And that’s when I get really excited.” Not surprisingly, however, the biggest praise came from Cowell, who complimented her brand-new swagger and all but gave her the season-nine crown. “You are 1 million, billion percent going to be in the top 12 next week,” he said. “What you’ve got now is confidence, and I can see that, and you’re starting to believe in yourself. Right now, you are the one everyone has to beat, I’m telling you. It’s yours to lose.” The song, a mid-’90s staple and Chapman’s biggest U.S. hit to date, allowed Bowersox to show off both her big, soulful vocals and scratchy, worn-in style of guitar playing and new confidence — eyes closed, head back, smile on her face after a particularly tight vocal run. But as soon as she was finished performing it, the old Crystal returned, and she decided to sit down atop her amp to hear the judges’ verdicts. Luckily, there was no reason for her to take a seat (though it was kind of funny to see Ryan Seacrest squat down on that amp), and as each member of the judges’ table rained praise upon on her, she thanked them and laughed.
