The the trial of the doctor accused of killing Michael Jackson has finally begun. The trial of Dr. Conrad Murray officially started today in Los Angeles. Murray stands accused of killing the King of Pop with an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol. Several of MJ’s family members were in attendance, including Michael’s father Joseph, mother Katherine, sisters LaToya and Janet, and brothers Jermaine, Randy and Tito. LaToya  carried a sunflower, Michael’s favorite flower. Dr. Murray arrived holding hands with his mother. Murray has pleaded not guilty. Fantastic Fest: The Human Centipede 2 Premiere Claims A Victim

Somewhere toward the end of The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) , Tom Six’s follow-up to the notorious 2010 dare of a horror film The Human Centipede (First Sequence) — after the sequel’s new villain had performed makeshift “surgery” on his twelve victims but before the film’s gruesome, stomach-churning denouement — the woman sitting next to me fell ill and fainted. She came to minutes later, she told me as we waited for medics, only to be greeted by a wall of disorienting, horrifying sounds, a cacophony of screams and even worse noises, accompanied by some of the vilest images ever captured on film. Needless to say, it was agony to live through. But, she said with a brave smile, it reminded her that she was human after all.

Killer Elite Pretty Much Gives Up With New Red-Band Trailer

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: I enjoyed the Statham/De Niro/Owen assassin intrigue Killer Elite — more than most, it appears . But hoo boy , this new red-band opening-day trailer is misguided. At least two scenes here aren’t even in the movie, and the gratuitous female nudity is like… what ? Anyway, I’m only posting it as a public service advisory letting you know this movie is better than this puerile, hard-rawkin’, NSFW garbage. 50 Cent’s “All Things Fall Apart” Added To 2011 Urbanworld Film Fest Line Up

The 15th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival ( www.urbanworld.org ), presented by BET Networks has added Mario Van Peebles’ All Things Fall Apart to its lineup. The film, starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in a transformative role as a star college football player, joins a diverse slate of nearly 60 films that will be featured at the New York-based festival from September 14-18, 2011 at AMC 34th Street in midtown Manhattan. The screening of All Things Fall Apart takes place Friday, September 16 at 7:30pm , followed by a Q&A with director Peebles and actress Lynn Whitfield . Additionally, comedian Chris Rock will be in attendance to support the world premiere of Diane Paragas’ and Nelson George’s Brooklyn Boheme ( Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Branford Marsalis, Rosie Perez, Saul Williams ), Urbanworld’s Opening Night Selection. Will you be seeing a movie on this holiday weekend? Before you shell out big bucks for tickets, soda and Sour Patch Kids, consider the following advice from our friends at Movie Fanatic. First up: Apollo 18 . The film is meant to explain why America stopped going to the moon after 17 missions. The answer? “Lost” footage from the 18th mission that is downright scary! But is it really? At times. “Audiences are given enough information to keep the story moving, but because of plot holes, too many questions are left unanswered and hamper the film’s effort to be taken seriously,” writes the site.
