O’Brien’s new show will debut Monday, November 8, according to multiple news reports . The announcement was made at the TBS upfront presentation Wednesday (May 19) at the Hammerstein Theatre in New York City. O’Brien himself was on hand for the event, cracking jokes and even breaking into song. “The plot to ‘Lost’ is more plausible than my last year at NBC,” he quipped at one point. “I really believe in cable television,” he continued. “I do not want to live in a country with less than five ESPN networks.” The floppy-haired comedian also busted into a revamped version of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” changing the lyrics to croon, “I just want to be on my own show again.” Not for 173 more days, CoCo! That his new show will air on TBS , rather than Fox, came as a huge surprise to even media insiders when it was announced in April. O’Brien’s reps were deep in negotiations with Fox until the talk-show host made a stunning reversal and decided to take his talents to cable. The show will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET/PT. “Lopez Tonight,” which currently airs at 11 p.m., will shift to midnight. “Conan has been the comedic voice for a generation,” Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said at the time. “TBS already has a huge audience of young comedy lovers, and Conan’s show will give these fans even more reasons to watch our network.” During Wednesday’s upfront, Conan joked to his new boss, “Steve, thanks for the blank creative check … you fool!” Will you watch Conan’s TBS show? New Kate Gosselin Book Tanks Hard

Kate Gosselin’s latest book isn’t exactly flying off the shelves, which is a good thing too, because if it were, the apocalypse might be imminent. Since its April 13 release, I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith, and Family has sold 10,084 copies, according to reports. That’s 10,084 more than we’d hope, but still a low total. Gosselin’s new non-fiction title debuted at #11 on the New York Times ‘ non fiction bestseller list, and at #103 on USA Today’s bestsellers chart. By Thursday afternoon, its Amazon rank was #862. This is in spite of Kate Gosselin relentlessly hawking the book (while being absent from the kids, ironically), and being on Dancing with the Stars. Has the book-buying public tired of Kate? Jim Milliot, business and news director of Publishers Weekly , recently stated that the numbers “nowhere near a blockbuster” and ” not that impressive .” Not that surprising, either. A Kate Gosselin book about parenting? After all this? Would you buy a Lindsay Lohan book on teetotalling? Just curious. By contrast, the 35-year-old mom’s first two books, Multiple Blessings and Eight Little Faces, both climbed to number five on the New York Times ‘ list. Multiple Blessings sold 523,000 copies in 2009. I Just Want You to Know “continues [Kate’s] story of faith and family. Using excerpts and written prayers from her journal, Kate offers an intimate look at the heart of a mother during the years her family transitioned from obscurity to fame.” In related news, Jon Gosselin is reportedly penning a memoir, I Just Want to Hit That: A Divorced Father of Eight’s Quest For Mediocre Rebound Girls .

Conan O’Brien Speaks on "Toxic" Relationship with NBC, Backstabbing Jay Leno

It’s been a good couple weeks for Conan O’Brien: He’s landed on his funny feet at TBS, and he’s been named the second most influential artist on the planet. This Sunday on 60 Minutes , meanwhile, the comedian will speak in depth for the first time on the decision by NBC to toss him aside as host of The Tonight Show and replace him with Jay Leno, who was all too happy to take back the gig. Would Conan have done the same thing in Jay’s place? “He went and took that show back, and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know – I know me, I wouldn’t have done that,” O’Brien says. “If I had surrendered The Tonight Show and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well – and then… six months later. But that’s me. Everyone’s got their own way of doing things.” A classy individual, as evidenced by this statement he released in the middle of the late-night mess, Conan continued to emphasize that he could only speak for himself, refusing to completely lay into Leno. As for why he left NBC, O’Brien remembers thinking “this relationship is going be toxic and maybe we just need to go our separate ways. “That’s really how it felt to me… and I started to feel that I’m not sure these people even really want me here … I can’t do it [anymore].” While we appreciate how mature and professional Conan has been throughout this ordeal, we’re also glad David Letterman is around – to basically be the exact opposite .
