Britney Spears Needs To Get Back To Basics

I had a real struggle trying to decide whether or not I wanted to post these pictures of Britney Spears , she’s not doing anything or flashing anything or even standing next to a hot friend. Nothing! I’m so bored with this chick. If she keeps this kind of crap up, no photographers are going to follow her around anymore, no celebrity blogs are going to post pictures of her anymore and eventually nobody is going to go to any of her concerts anymore. It’s a slippery slope princess. Show us your boobs…. I’m waiting.

Soulja Boy Recalls Meeting Dr. Dre, Dubs Himself ‘Lil’ Dre’

‘I was in shock at what he was saying,’ young MC tells Sway during ‘RapFix Live.’ By Hillary Crosley, with reporting by Sway Calloway Soulja Boy Tell’em Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News Along with 50 Cent, another hip-hop heavyweight may be taking Soulja Boy Tell’em under his wing. During his interview on “RapFix Live” on Thursday (December 2), the 20-year-old rapper talked about meeting Dr. Dre for the first time briefly before one of his concerts. “Everybody knows Dre,” Soulja Boy said of meeting the West Coast icon. “I was in shock at what he was saying. It was just like, I couldn’t believe that he was there.” Apparently, Dre was so unassuming that he caught the young MC off-guard. “My CEO, Jimmy Iovine, had came in the room before he did, and he was like, ‘What’s up, Soulja Boy?’ and we was talking,” Soulja recalled. “And Dre just walked in, like, ‘Soulja!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, is that Dr. Dre?’ And [my boys] were like, ‘Why you ain’t take your shades off?’ I was caught up in the moment, what he was saying, how he appreciate what I do and I’m doing my thang. “Just him telling me that, just meant so much,” Soulja continued. “I was in a point of shock, you feel me?” And like for many other rappers, Dre has been a point of inspiration, but leave it to SB to take the superproducer’s legacy one step further. “Dr. Dre is a legend. I’ve been listening to him since I was in diapers,” Soulja said. “I know my mama been listening to him. Everybody knows that he did so much for hip-hop and … you know, I’m lil’ Dre!” While that title is debatable, the two may work together on Dre’s premium line of headphones, Beats by Dre. “During the ‘Speakers Going Hammer’ , the beats are all through that video and the ‘Speakers Going Hammer’ song is gon’ be in his next commercial,” Soulja said. “That was love. He was like, ‘I like that song. Put that in the commercial.’ Soon, maybe you’ll see some Soulja Boy/ Dr. Dre headphones or something like that.” Until then, the rapper’s been busy dreaming up fresh ideas. “I’ve been thinking about what I could bring. Like, I ain’t want to do just like the headphones,” Soulja shared. “I wanted to do something new to it.” Would you check out Soulja Boy’s headphones? Let us know in the comments! Taylor Swift Speaks on 50 Cent, Turning 21 and More

Taylor Swift and Chelsea Handler have something in common: an affection for 50 Cent. But while the latter may possess carnal knowledge of this rapper, the former simply likes his music. “When we’re on tour, we have all three girls – the backup singer, the fiddle player, and me in one room – and we all warm up to 50 Cent music,” Taylor told Chelsea during an interview this week. “It would be surprising how many lyrics I know.” Taylor Swift on Chelsea Handler Later in the discussion, talk turned to Swift’s 21st birthday. It takes place on December 13. “I’ll get to go to the concerts that my friends go to and leave me at home for,” she said. “It’s sort of like ‘Oh, we can’t bring the baby because it’s a 21 and over show.’ I don’t want to be that girl where you like try to get in somewhere where you’re too young to get in.” In conclusion, Swift dished on what it’s been like to live by herself for the first time. “Living alone you can do so many fantastic things, I’ve learned! You can like, walk around have conversations with yourself, and like sing your thoughts.”

DIY Balloons Glow to Show Air Quality

Image via Instructables The idea of showing air quality by emitting glowing colors is fairly old. In fact, in 2007, Pairs launched hot air balloons above the city that would show citizens the level of cleanliness of the air they were breathing in. Even air filters have started to sport glowing colors to indicate the level of pollutants in the air. But having such a cool air qualit… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Thoughts on Lollapalooza: Concerts Getting Cleaner?

Photos by Jeff Kart So I spent the weekend at Lollapalooza, along with another 200,000 or so people, rocking out to headliners like Green Day, The Strokes and Lady Gaga. And I noticed something. For the most part, people were doing the right thing: Recycling their beer cans, using refillable water bottles, putting trash in its place. Now this may not seem like a revolution, but it’s worth mentioning, especially against the backdrop of the first few Lollapaloozas I attended back in the 1990s…. Read the full story on TreeHugger

Carrie Underwood Says Her Wedding ‘Exceeded All The Hopes I Had’

Bride changed into a cocktail dress for her reception: ‘I wanted to get my boogie on,’ she tells People. By Kara Warner Carrie Underwood on the cover of People Photo: Time Inc. Country princess and onetime “American Idol” champ Carrie Underwood’s wedding to Ottawa Senators center Mike Fisher graces the cover of People magazine this week and appears to have been every bit the fairy tale the bride envisioned for her big day. Married Saturday on the lawn of Georgia’s lavish Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation Resort, the happy couple exchanged traditional vows in front of 250 guests. Underwood told People the one thing she worried about above all else was keeping it together throughout the ceremony. “My sister told me if I feel like tearing up to say the Pledge of Allegiance,” she said. “I must have said it 20 times that night!” The proud groom, who met Underwood through mutual friends at one of her concerts in 2008, said his bride looked simply “stunning” (dressed in a specially designed Monique Lhuillier gown). “I was thanking God for her, for that moment,” Fisher, 30, gushed. “It’s something I’ll never forget.” When the couple finally sealed their vows with a kiss, the only objector among the 250 guests was Underwood’s plucky rat terrier, Ace, who responded to the otherwise-enthusiastic applause by barking. “We were laughing, everyone was laughing, and Ace was barking,” Fisher said. For the reception, which was decorated with an overwhelmingly feminine, pink-hued touch, guests received their seating assignments via painted hockey pucks with their names written on an attached card. And Underwood changed out of her “huge” wedding dress in favor of a strapless cocktail dress — which Monique Lhuillier also designed. “I wanted to get my boogie on, so I had to change,” the 27-year-old told People. “The night exceeded all the hopes I had,” Underwood said. “It was a great party.” Share your well-wishes for the newlyweds in the comments below! Why People Aren’t Going to Concerts Anymore [Music]

Ticket sales for all the concerts in the country combined has dropped to a new low, and many big-name acts are under-performing. How could this happen? Maybe because all the bands are old and no one wants to see them. More

‘American Idol’ Fans Happy For Both Lee DeWyze And Crystal Bowersox

Readers offer congratulations to both singers, but a number were angry that Bowersox didn’t win. By Gil Kaufman Lee Dewyze, Ryan Seacrest And Crystal Bowersox on “American Idol” on Tuesday Photo: Michael Becker/ Fox Given that host Ryan Seacrest revealed on Wednesday night that going into the final they were separated by less than two percent of the vote, it’s fitting that MTV News readers offered congratulations to both “American Idol” winner Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox on Thursday morning. “I was so happy for Lee,” wrote Imogen. “He said it was the best moment of his life. I know the Crystal fans are upset, but I can’t imagine begrudging someone that kind of happiness. It was a lovely moment and I really do think he earned it.” And unlike some of the sniping that went on last year when it appeared that flashy showman Adam Lambert had been robbed of the title by unassuming dark horse Kris Allen, the comments were mostly positive on both sides of the coin. OK, some of them were positive. “Crystal is the new Janis Joplin,” enthused Susan. “Finally, someone with some moxy and real soul. If you make a CD, I will buy it, if you go on tour, I will see you, and if you make a salad, I will eat it! Crystal … you are the bomb!!!” That sentiment was mirrored by Beverly, who remarked, “Crystal Is the true winner/ I remember when she tried out I said, ‘she will be the one.’ She sang better, already knew who she was and what she wanted to be before the show. But Lee, on the other hand was clueless … although he did improve himself through out the season. Simon kept saying here is a guy in a small paint store who needs a break. Come on Simon, Crystal needs a break, she kicked butt all season long. She stayed true to herself every time.” A vast majority, however, were split, but still seemingly happy with the results, such as Johnohhhftw, who said, “I think Lee winning was a great thing! I wish the best for Crystal, but I thought Lee had a better voice. I’m sure even though Crystal lost she will release more music, so all you Lee haters shouldn’t worry.” Also toeing the line was Nicole, who extended a peace offering with the comment, “You know I think they both have amazing talent. Each one appeals to a different crowd. As far as all the Lee bashing goes, it’s stupid. Crystal is better off not locked down by all the contract BS that goes with winning. They will both be signed and they will both have equal opportunity … he will just have more strings attached … Look at Adam Lambert. He didn’t win but he is doing just fine.” Harmoniize couldn’t have been happier with the outcome, crowing, “Lee DeWyze … is a true ‘Idol.’ He not only worked hard for it, but he also has a voice that conveys a lot of emotion and captured a lot of hearts worldwide. He so rightfully deserves this. More power to you Lee!!!” Then there were a number of vocal dissenters, such as La, who lamented, “Surprise, surprise. A come-from-behind cookie-cutter male rocker type beats out the unconventional, more talented ‘favorite.’ Idol show maneuvering, complete with timely song assignments, rumor mongering about dads/quitting, etc, judge buildups of the new and putdowns of the old, and a last week of talk show pimping do the trick. The unanimous judge results in finals for the unconventional performers merely stoke the voting frenzy for the cookie-cutters. Sounds like Cook-Archuleta, Allen-Lambert, and now DeWyze-Bowersox. Like her fellow runners-up, Crystal will sell concert seats and CDs. See you at the concerts, Crystal.” Others were just plain angry and felt Bowersox had been flat out jacked. “Crystal was robbed!” raged Kennith. “Teen girls should not be allowed to vote at all. A woman with talent will never win ‘American Idol.’ I bet another Kris Allen clone like Lee will win next year but I won’t see it, I’m done with this garbage.” Cheryl Rae seconded that emotion, writing, “I am so tired of ‘American Idol’s inability to hit the jackpot! Crystal will not disappear half as fast as this year’s ‘Idol,’ a … what’s his name?” Dennis went further, saying, “Crystal is the best they had. I like Lee, but he is as plain as oatmeal and they could have had something real. Kinda like last year.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
