‘Iron Man 3′ Teaser-palooza! Trailer Foreshadows Pepper Potts’ Peril

With the first Iron Man 3 trailer premiering on Tuesday, Disney whet franchise fans’ appetites by releasing a 17-second teaser trailer and poster for the latest installment of the metallic Marvel superhero saga. The trailer is one of those blink-and-you-miss-it deals that raises more questions than it answers, but, based on  the movie-trailer-foreshadowing course I took in college, Pepper Potts ( Gwyneth Paltrow )  will be in some definite danger come May.  Next to Downey, Potts’ character gets even more attention than what appears to be a from-the-rear shot of super-villain Mandarin, who will be played by Ben Kingsley . The weird thing is that when I first saw the Potts scene, I thought Paltrow was laughing. I figured this was trailer shorthand for establishing Potts/Paltrow as such a heart-lifting force in cynical Tony Stark’s life that, well, something bad has to happen to her. Turns out the teaser trailer is way more direct than that. Judging from Paltrow’s sweaty appearance and confinement in some weird restraining device that looks like it was borrowed from a Six Flags roller coaster, Pepper’s in a world of pain. Could it be [cue ominous music]…torture at the hands of the dastardly Mandarin? (More about him in a later post.) Either that, or maybe Paltrow’s character is undergoing some kind of state-of-the-art psychological treatment in which she’s just learned that Goop was seriously jank idea. Regardless of the interpretation of Gwynnie’s facial expression, my conclusion remains the same: She’s going to be in harm’s way in Iron Man 3 , which jibes with the this-time-it’s-personal synopsis that Disney released on Thursday. In case you’ve forgotten: Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Here’s the teaser trailer. I hope tomorrow’s longer version reveals more. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.

For Discussion: Should Doctors Offer IUDs For Teenage Girls To Reduce Teen Pregnancy?

Physicians Recommending ‘IUD’ Option Become Available For Teenage Girls The teen pregnancy epidemic in the United States has long been a controversial topic of discussion from doctor’s offices, to high school sex education classes and even into the homes of parents with teenagers across America. In the latest effort to decrease the occurrence of teen pregnancy , a prominent group of health physicians are suggesting that doctors begin offering IUDs as contraception to sexually active teenage girls. via ABCNews A leading group of physicians who advise on women’s health has issued new guidelines recommending for the first time that doctors offer intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implantable contraception — methods commonly referred to as long-acting reversible contraception — to teenage patients. More than one third of young people ages 15 to 19 are sexually active, yet most teens are not using, and may not even know about, these birth control methods, according to statistics from the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) issued a paper Thursday evening containing new guidelines to offer IUDs and implants as first-line birth control options for teens. What say you Bossipers…is this recommendation going too far? Would you allow your teenage daughter to get an IUD? Images via Shutterstock

Tyler Clementi Case: Dharun Ravi Admits Immaturity and Stupidity, Denies Hatred

Dharun Ravi blames immaturity – not criminal-level hate – for his actions leading up to the tragic suicide of his former Rutgers roommate, Tyler Clementi. “I was 18 … I did do things wrong and I was stupid about a lot of stuff,” he tells ABC News of his 2010 actions. “I was a dumb kid not thinking about it.” Ravi, who many feel indirectly drove Clementi to throw himself off the George Washington bridge, was found guilty of invasion of privacy and hate crimes . He insists he is not homophobic, however. ” I didn’t act out of hate and I wasn’t uncomfortable with Tyler being gay,” Ravi claims in a separate interview with New Jersey’s The Star-Ledger newspaper. “I won’t ever … tell the world that I hated Tyler because he was gay, or tell the world that I was trying to hurt or intimidate him because it’s not true.” In death, Clementi has become a cause celebre of sorts, stirring passions, controversy and heated debate over bullying, particularly of gay youth. Dharun Ravi says he realized his roommate, also 18 at the time, “had bigger problems” that may have contributed to his decision to take his own life. “Before I went to school I thought my roommate would be my best friend and we would hang out all the time,” he tells The Star-Ledger . “But Tyler wasn’t like that.” “He was very quiet and every conversation we had just hit a dead end.” Whatever his intentions, Ravi, who allegedly used a camera to spy on Clementi kissing a man in their dorm room, then publicized that fact online, may face prison time. On Friday, Tyler Clementi’s family released a statement commenting on the jury’s findings against Ravi. Tyler’s father, Joseph Clementi, said: “Our family believes the jury reached a correct verdict. They reached their decision based on the facts shown by the evidence. At the conclusion of [Ravi’s] trial, the defense’s explanation of what happened was simply not believable.” Jane Clementi, Tyler’s mother, said: “We have become all too aware of the consequences suffered by people who are singled out for being different. We’ve learned that LGBT teens, especially, suffer pain, embarrassment and ridicule which is made worse by improper use of electronic media.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season Finale: Dramatic? Or a Dud?

The season started with a suicide and ended with a wedding. In between, we saw just how low Taylor Armstrong would sink; watched the struggles of Kyle Richards and an eventually rehab-bound Kim ; and slogged through Lisa Vanderpump planning her daughter’s big day, which came to fruition last night . But was this is a worthwhile payoff? Did anyone really care about Pandora’s wedding, especially when it shoved Kim and Taylor so far off to the sideline? Yes, the finale concluded with the women at Kyle’s house, sort of talking about Russell Armstrong’s passing , but even then Pandora’s wedding remained a topic of conversation. Was the episode a letdown? What did you think of this conclusion to season two?

Stephen Colbert on Mitt Romney: Possible Serial Killer!

Stephen Colbert does not want to disturb you, but the leading candidate for the Republication Presidential nomination might be a serial killer. The Comedy Central host, who is actually running in the upcoming South Carolina Primary , makes this startling accusation in a new ad from his Super PAC, one in which narrator John Lithgow follows Mitt Romney’s own line of reasoning to its logical conclusion. If corporations are people, as Romney famously said at a campaign event last year, and if Romney gutted a number of businesses during his days in the private sector, well… what other conclusion can be draw? On ABC’s This Week today, Colbert was asked by George Stephanopoulos whether he truly believes Romney is a serial killer and replied: “That’s a question he has to answer.” Watch the commercial below and decide: Does it cross a line? Or is it a perfect form of satire? Stephen Colbert Primary Ad Attacks Mitt Romney

8 People Who Swear They Can Sing But Really Can’t

Go here to see the original:

With the increased popularity of electronic crutches like Autotune, a lot of people are being allowed to have musical careers without being able to sing very well. We’ve all thought it but very few have come out and said it. Well, the folks at Madamenoire.com went there and some folks are about to get their feelings hurt. Do you agree with their picks? Jennifer Lopez Lopez is definitely a woman that has worn many hats. While that is commendable, I must say that carrying a note is something she should give up on. She’s a great entertainer otherwise, but we all should have been real with her after “If You Had My Love.” Pharrell Williams I love this guy, and I even bought his solo album , In My Mind where he both sings and raps. But it took me a few years to come to the conclusion that if he really thinks he can sing, he’s got to be playing crazy. His vocals can sound okay one second and then piercing the next. LOSER!!: Chad Ochocinco Banned From Twitter For 3 Weeks After Losing Mystery Bet With Unknown Person

We never thought we’d see the day that Chad’s attention whoring would cease… If you have been wondering where Chad Ochocinco has been on twitter, fear not, Tedy Bruschi didn’t run him off the social network. There is an even more entertaining reason Ocho has been MIA. Check this out. Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco hasn’t tweeted since September 24. Lest you think this is normal, well, it’s not — Ocho used to fire out 40-plus tweets a day, and for him to go 12 days without any noise on Twitter whatsoever is disturbing. As it turns out, Ocho isn’t being forced off Twitter, per se, he just lost a bet, which probably involves his not-so-stellar play this season. “Ochocinco hasn’t tweeted because he lost a bet,” Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald tweeted on Wednesday. “Twitter ban/lost bet last three weeks. Won’t tell me the wager.” We checked with “Rap Sheet” on Twitter, and Ocho won’t reveal who the bet is with either. Or guess, because you care, goes something like this: there’s was a bet between either Bill Belichick or Tom Brady and Ocho relating to number of catches against the Bills. This makes sense for a couple of reasons. The Bills and Patriots played on September 25, one day after Ocho’s last tweet. And Ocho had the most number of targets (four) that he’s had all season, meaning you could jump to the conclusion, if you’re inclined, that someone was trying to give him a fair shake of getting his hands on some balls. Pause. What do you think the bet was that is keeping Chad off of Twitter?? The ban ends this coming Monday. We’re sure ol’ Ochocinco will be back in full force. Source
