Famed defense attorney Robert Shapiro took on Lindsay Lohan’s case last week on the condition that she follows the judge’s orders and reports to jail . He seemed like just what she needed, but shockingly, Shapiro stepped away Monday for unknown reasons after meeting with Judge Marsha Revel. The troubled star, who is said to be living in denial , is due to be formally sentenced this morning in court for violating the terms of her DUI probation. At least she seems in relatively good spirits. “The only ‘bookings’ that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that I’d be ‘booking’ into Jail… eeeks,” Lindsay wrote on her Twitter page. Former girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who has supported Lohan through her ordeal, Tweeted back, “well – you haven’t lost your sense of humour.” Barring a miracle, Lindsay Lohan is headed to jail today . It is not immediately clear who will be representing Lohan at the Tuesday morning hearing in Beverly Hills Superior Court where she is ordered to surrender. Although he has been assisting her, Shapiro never formally became her attorney and was expected to take that title after meeting with Judge Revel Monday. Technically, her lawyer is Shawn Chapman Holley, who parted ways with Lohan after the star’s last hearing but never signed the papers removing herself. Revel would have had to replace Holley with Robert Shapiro as attorney of record. This was thought to be a mere formality, but it never actually took place. Lohan was given 90 days in jail for violating probation terms from her 2007 DUI conviction, but likely will serve only a fraction of that due to overcrowding. She had (thankfully) entered a sober living facility with ties to Shapiro last week, but then her assistant was seen removing her belongings earlier Monday. Stay tuned …

July 07, 2010 Alex Jones and Matt Ryan reported earlier today that the National Guard is currently working with police in Albany, New York, to confiscate weapons from citizens in violation of the Constitution and Posse Comitatus. The National Guard is a joint reserve component of the United States Army and as such prohibited from collaborating with state and local law enforcement except under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or an act of Congress. Posse Comitatus was seriously undermined when Congress passed the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007. The Warner bill allows the president to “employ the armed forces… to… restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition.” In New York state, the “other condition” allowing the military to violate the rights of citizens is the bogus “war on drugs.” As the video here reveals, the cops and National Guard are using the spurious drug war to search for and confiscate weapons in violation of the Second Amendment. Local cops are using x-ray technology provided by the Pentagon to search vehicles. In addition to images of pot plants, Fox 23 shows an image of an x-ray scan that reveals a rifle hidden inside a car. 1984 or 1776? Gotta make a choice. added by: rodstradamus

Sen. Robert Byrd hospitalized in serious condition By the CNN Wire Staff June 27, 2010 5:41 p.m. EDT Washington (CNN) — Sen. Robert Byrd, the 92-year-old Democrat from West Virginia who is the longest-serving Congress member in history, has been hospitalized in serious condition, his office said Sunday. Byrd was admitted to a Washington area hospital last week and his condition is “seriously ill,” according to the statement by his office. Initially thought to be suffering from heat exhaustion and severe dehydration, Byrd was expected to remain in hospital for “not more than a few days,” the statement said. “However, upon further examination by his doctors, other conditions have developed which has resulted in his condition being described as 'serious,' ” the statement concluded. West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin said in a statement Sunday that he and his wife “are thinking about and praying for Sen. Byrd and his family.” “We are truly hopeful that he gets well soon because West Virginians need his leadership in Washington,” the statement said. “Sen. Byrd is a true champion for our state.” Slowed by illness in recent years, Byrd spent six weeks in the hospital in 2009 due to a staph infection. Last November, he became the longest-serving member of Congress at more than 57 years, surpassing the old record set by Arizona Democrat Carl T. Hayden. Byrd also is the only person elected to nine full terms in the Senate. He served six years in the U.S. House before becoming a senator, and has never lost an election. added by: EthicalVegan

The manager of Gary Coleman is asking for our “thoughts and prayers” as the former child star, now 42, is on life support after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He suffered the injury in his Utah home on Wednesday. Coleman was hospitalized for treatment, his manager John Alcantar said, and was in critical condition. Things took a turn for the worse , though, when Coleman was transferred to the ICU at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for further tests and treatment: “As of May 27, Mr. Coleman was conscious and lucid. By early afternoon, Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened. “We are very saddened to announce that since mid-afternoon, Mountain Time, on May 27, 2010, Mr. Coleman has been unconscious and on life support.” Alcantar says that despite Coleman’s recent history of health problems and personal issues, “he always has had fond memories of being an entertainer.” “He appreciates his fans for all their support. At this critical moment, we can only ask for thoughts and prayers for Gary to make a speedy, full recovery.” If it’s any consolation, Bret Michaels also suffered a brain hemorrhage and bounced back from similarly long odds. Here’s hoping Coleman can do the same.

You’ve got to hand it to the producers of the now-canceled FlashForward : Despite mounting evidence to the contrary — dwindling viewership, actors accepting other pilots, etc. — they were clearly really confident in their series getting a second season. And maybe even a third, fourth and fifth. What other way to explain the series finale last night, an affair that could have been easily retrofit to wrap the show up, but instead chose to end on multiple cliffhangers?
